I didn't look at the Yelp rating before coming here because I wanted to go in with an open mind. After eating here, I'm not surprised by the 3.5 star rating. That said, there's definitely potential for it to be higher. Lancers has that classic family restaurant feel, and overall the meal was decent. I ordered two meals: the beef dip and the fish and chips. I'd give the beef dip a 3/5 and the fish itself a solid 5/5. The fish was nice and flaky, and the batter was phenomenal. Crispy, light, and not greasy. The oil didn't seem old or overused, which I appreciated. However, it was disappointing that the fish wasn't served with a lemon wedge, which would have really complemented the dish. I ended up having to ask for one, but our server didn't stop by the table after dropping off our food. We had to wave her down to get her attention. The beef dip had good flavor, but the meat was served cold. Even so, it was still enjoyable. The bread appeared to have been toasted, but it wasn't crispy at all. In fact, I asked for the sandwich to be boxed up almost immediately because I already knew I was going to take it home and make it better myself. The whole time I was thinking how good it would be with some horseradish and cheese, then popped into the air fryer for a few minutes. The sandwich had potential, but it needed a little more attention in execution. The turkey gravy was another miss. I ordered it for the fries, but it wasn't thick enough. It definitely could have used more flour. The consistency was closer to the au jus that came with the beef dip than a traditional turkey gravy. Walking in to Lancers feels like a step back in time, with the red cushion booths and diner counter. They have a vast menu, and serve breakfast all day (can't wait to try the next time I go!). The meal was good, though charging $1.50 for a single deli pickle is a bit insane when you get a bunch for free with your meal if you go to Brent's. I was full off of half my sandwich and took the rest to go, but they don't have single serve condiment packets which I thought was odd. The servers were very nice about this and provided me with a small sauce cup for me to fill instead. Though I enjoyed the food, I do have to say that the milkshake was lacking for a deli/diner expectation. It tasted like semi-thick but mostly thin chocolate milk and was not worth it for the price. I can't remember the first time I saw Lancers, easily over 3 decades ago, but I never tried it until recently. Solid, coffee shop with friendly, attentive service and large, family friendly menu. Even and "old fashion" dessert case with revolving goodies! The first thing I notice on approach was the side door entry directly to the lounge. It reminded me of back when Denny's had a lounge, but those were all removed by the time I came of legal drinking age. LOL Lancers also has a lounge and it was tempting to pop in for a mid afternoon adult libation, but we had no time to languish over 3 martinis lunches, so into the main dining area we went. We were greeted and sat in a booth immediately and a gentleman came to ask us what drinks he could get us started with. Then our server arrived and introduced himself, pointed out the lunch specials and gave us a few minutes to decide. I opted for the Chef Salad and Hubs went for the ham steak breakfast with pancakes. My salad was cold, crisp and delicious, served with a slice of fresh bread. Yum! It was a very large salad, so I knew as soon as it was placed before me, half of this bad boy would be dinner. Hubs breakfast was also good. He couldn't finish all his pancakes, so I graciously offered my assistance. Now, my fave pancakes are more cake-y dense than anything, but these weren't bad at'll. Fluffy and light with a hint of sweetness. We didn't have room for dessert, but a glance through the rotating display told me it wouldn't be a bad idea to pop in just for coffee and pie sometime. This place has been on my radar for a while now. So the hubs and I finally stopped in for some lunch and so glad that we did. The diner vibes were great! We were greeted right away and seated in a both close to the bar seating. Loved that you could see the cooks or ( chef's) cooking away through open window area. We ordered the fish and chips special. I got the tortilla soup with mine and the hubs got the clam chowder with his. The tortilla soup was so yummy! Crispy tortilla pieces on top made it perfect! My fish and chips plate was so huge! Lancers is the place you have driven by for years and wondered what it was all about. Well, I am here to tell you that Lancers is an old-school diner with a nostalgic feel. There is plenty of seats and plenty of parking. The menu is not really considered cheap, but it is not expensive either. Most everything is closer to $20.00 a plate. We stopped in for breakfast and I ordered the French toast with bacon and eggs for $17.99. My guy had ham and eggs with toast. Portions were decent and everything was just okay. There was nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner and seem to cater more toward older folks and families looking for a simple diner experience. Stopped by here recently for the first time in several years, and was surprised by how much I loved it! Lancers shares a lot with several other stores and when I went for dinner, there was plenty of parking. The menu was quite large, and they have daily dinner specials. I considered getting the prime rib special but landed on the meatloaf dinner. The dinner came with soup or salad, a potato dish, the daily vegetable, and a slice of bread. There was so much food! Everything tasted pretty average, but you're not going to a family restaurant for bib gourmand food anyways. I thought the price was great for the amount of food that was given, and I had some leftovers at the end of my meal. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and all of the workers seemed to be getting along with each other, which always feels good to see at a workplace. We went to Lancer in Burbank for a family lunch on Thanksgiving Day which was yesterday. (11/27/2025). My brother especially wanted to come here, so we visited, and we all enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Prime Rib Thanksgiving special, my brother had the Turkey plate, and my mom ordered an omelette. Everything tasted good. The Thanksgiving specials came out like a course meal -- you could choose either soup or salad to start, and for dessert, you could pick between pecan pie or pumpkin pie. But, they didn't have pecan pie yesterday, so I had the pumpkin pie, and it was very soft and delicious. One thing -- the service was friendly and kind, but when I ordered my prime rib medium well-done, it came out medium rare, which surprised me. I asked them to cook it a bit more, but even after that, it still had a noticeable red center, so I requested one more re-cook. Sometimes when I say "medium well," people think I said "medium rare," so I made sure to say "medium well-done," but it still came out rare at first, which was a bit frustrating. However, the staff handled everything kindly and professionally, and they recooked it twice. They kept checking to see if we needed anything, even though the restaurant was extremely busy and packed with people yesterday. Nevertheless, after today's lunch with a friend of mine, I decided to pass on going there. My friend and I met there for lunch. She had a burger with onion rings, and I had one of my favourites, Liver and onions, and veggies with mashed potatoes and gravy ( without the onions). But today I just finally realized it's time for me to move on. Been coming here since I was a kid and it has gone from what some would call a greasy spoon restaurant to a better restaurant in my opinion. The plates are usually pretty large and you get plenty of food. It's all pretty basic and tastes the way you would expect it to. Service is usually quick and everyone is pretty nice. We recently went to Lancers for dinner on a Thursday night. It was around 7:15 PM. No waiting. We were seated promptly as this restaurant looks like a ghost town in the evening. Gone are its glory days when the restaurant was bustling with customers from morning till late night. It's a big place but only about 4 other tables were occupied that night. The host who seated us was also a waiter (Waiter number 1). As he led us to our table, we vaguely heard him saying --in a sing song manner, up in the air and addressing us but back turned --that we're the last customers for the night. As we got seated, I was thinking to myself that if he will be our waiter, I wouldn't be able to look at him. Why? Because although his long hair is in a ponytail, he has an unkempt (as opposed to neatly groomed) long beard. That would be an appetite killer for me. He was nice but his appearance is unbecoming of a waiter. Anyway, it turned out that he would not be our waiter. Place wasn't busy at all but our waiter (Waiter number 2) showed up after fifteen long minutes. This one's appearance was the complete opposite of waiter number 1. No facial hair and he's shaved bald. After ordering, we told him that we'll order take home toward the end of our meal. He acknowledged it by saying ok. I had their Thursday dinner special --carne asada with rice, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream. salsa. Order came with chicken gumbo and garden salad. Food was decent;portions ample with some to take home. Current Lancers food are still ok but taste and presentation is inferior to the ones they used to serve when it was still the previous owners. Waiter number 2 gives a lot of comments, like when I requested salad dressing on the side, he said "Always". Not true. If one doesn't specify, they put the dressing over one's salad greens. I saw him chitchatting a lot with other diners, even rudely joining in a conversation between two diners apparently familiar with them already but it still was ill-mannered to chime in when he wasn't part of the conversation. Even when he brought our food, he was briefly talking to us and over the food he was bringing to our table. Yuck! Fast forward to the end of our meal. We were ready to order our to go food. Waiter number 2 was nowhere to be found. Waiter number 1 showed up. He said, kitchen is closed at that point. It was 8:30 PM. So we found out that Lancers closes now at 8 PM. Waiter number 2 eventually showed up and gave us his insincere apology. Remember, we told him beforehand that we'll order to go and he acknowledged it. He failed to tell us that kitchen will be closed at 8:30 PM. So here we were extremely disappointed that we couldn't order take home for a family member expecting Lancers food. I will definitely stay away from Lancers in the evening. This skeleton force is too unprofessional. Music coming from the center of the restaurant where the bar and kitchen are located was too loud. The only good service person was the bus boy. He has been with Lancers for a long time. Sometimes he acts as a waiter too. He is efficient, polite and hardworking. I hope Lancers' current owners invest in quality employees as much as they have invested in the interiors of the restaurant. In contrast, the morning crew is much better especially on busy Saturdays and Sundays. Some of the previous waitstaff still remain but most of them have either retired or have found better employment elsewhere. Way back then, almost every waiter and waitress was gracious and efficient. Whoever wasn't, stuck like a sore thumb. I noticed that regular diners and seniors have stopped going. They used to have ice cream or jello that came with the dinner specials. Oh well, times have changed. In the case of Lancers, not for the better. And what's up with the old beat up wood entrance double doors? They look so banged up. At the very least, put new varnish or stain to restore its looks. It's a telltale sign of what to expect when you dine there. Go figure! read more

If your looking for old school diner feels, then this is the place! The interior is definitely old and outdated but it has an old feel charm. They serve breakfast pretty much all day which is great if you love breakfast like me. The drinks menu needs to be updated. They don't have lattes or matcha, just your typical cup of joe. Service is usually fast and the staff is nice and friendly. The food is ok, solid. Nothing to rave about but not horrible either. They have daily specials which is nice. I love this place. They are a throwback with quality, friendly and generally awesome, plus not expensive. One star review is because we sat thru traffic to get there, came during posted hours, and were told the kitchen was in process of shutting down and they wouldn't serve us. I noted the time, noted the posted hours, and asked if to go would be ok, as we had driven far and were hungry. Denied. Then I mentioned we couldn't come back, and that was ok with them. After attending our church Mass, we decided to have breakfast here at Lancers Restaurant in Burbank. We're so amazed how All the workers was so VERY NICE AND VERY WELCOMING. Their Host name LEILANY & LAILA was so very Friendly and very nice too. Great Customer Services. While we're waiting to be seated, I'm reading the Sunday Special on the board and they're serving MENUDO. I asked LEILANY if it's good and she said yes. So, I order and it was really so good and yummy. My husband ordered Chicken and Waffle and my son ordered Omelette and it's both perfectly cooked and so delicious. I'm highly recommend this place to All my Families and Friends. And for sure this place will be my favorite place to go Breakfast , Lunch and Dinner. Very clean and a lot of parking. Been coming to Lancer for the last like 15+ years. Always a solid cafe style with everything American. Service is good. Food is basic American fare. Nothing thats like crazy good. But good portions good flavors. Friday they have Prime Rib of Beef. Check the daily dinner specials and they have rotating daily soups. read more

Went to lancers on Sunday night! Our male server was very nice but forgot to nice us our soup with dinner! Our food was great but! We watched a Hispanic lady with rams shirt that says99 take food from chefs hithen and touching it with bare hands! This is unacceptable and she should be fired! Won't return! Beware! read more

We came here for lunch on Friday, April 24. They had very few servers. Sat for over 20 minutes before they took our order, Literally took over :40 to get our food. Almost walked out twice. Usually the service is great. But this was absolutely terrible. read more
