Long standing burger joint with a walk up window. Hours vary. I have driven by many times over the years and its been closed. They serve typical breakfast, lunch and dinner meals you would find at a diner. Service was friendly. A double cheesebuger meal deal was about $15.00. It came with a can of soda because their fountain machine was out of order. French fries are very thin and slightly crisped. The burger was huge. Easily 1/ 2 pound between the 2 patties. The meat was a litttle different. It reminded me of Jollibee. There are a few tables inside and a few outside. Parking is limited and tight. Solid 3.5 stars. Rounding up.

I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to relive my high-school last start treat of a breakfast burrito. I had heard they had changed ownership since the last time I went which was 2012 and that the burritos weren't the same. The food came out very quickly. Honestly the burrito was good, it had clean I ingredients. It's a simple burrito, no sauce inside, but they give you salsa on the side and I think its one fo the best salsa's out there, it really changed the entire flavor profile of the burrito. Its pretty spicy for me as I have a low spice tolerance but I just loved the flavor of it so it was worth it. I think the bacon wouls have felt like more if they just chopped it up instead of leaving as quarter strips. They definitely upgraded the inside since 2012 which is good, the chairs, tables ans decor look much cleaner/newer and the outside is the same as it's always been. I would have probably given this 4 stars if I wasn't overcharged. The menu, which mind you is taped over with new prices, said that bacon breakfast burrito was $9.98, so imagine my shock when I was charged $12.00($12.48 with tax). I didn't say anything as I don't like to confront people in charge of my food, but that wasn't okay. If the guy at the register had warned me that the proces hadn't been updated it would be okay, but there was no mention of this, and again the price on the menu is taped over, so couldn't they just tape over it again and update? Or is their pricing based off of judgement? That was just not cool, so I will not be returning just because of that.

Gyro

Today I tried a gyro, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked very juicy, tender, and full of flavor. All the ingredients came together really well, making the gyro filling and satisfying. The service was excellent, and it's an amazing spot in Burbank with a friendly staff and great atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you!

Love this place. The ingredients are always extremely fresh, and you can really taste the quality. The staff is consistently very welcoming and friendly, which makes every visit a pleasure. I also love the little touches they always add pickled peppers, and other fresh pickled sides, which makes the meal feel extra special. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Highly recommend and always happy to come back

Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich

At this point I only have lunch here, and breakfast it's too bad they're closed during dinner. The entire menu is tasty and great. My favorites are the cheese burger, teriyaki burger, teriyaki chicken bowl, gyro and the breakfast burrito. Also owner is so nice! Thank you as always Apollo!

I stopped by a few days before Thanksgiving to buy meat for my Assyrian Stew and found the line in the back. I was surprised at how quickly it moved. The meat department in the back has the best cuts of beef, pork, chicken and more. They also have salads, sandwiches and hot food to go. They have a freezer aisle with Jeni's ice cream! Yum! I noticed baked goods by local bakers and a section with a nice variety of seasoning. *The staff here are very friendly and helpful *Parking Lot

Handy Market has been around longer than I've been alive. It was founded in 1970 and upon entering,…read moreit certainly feels dated but there's something to be said about all the colorful and varied produce that's neatly displayed down its narrow aisles, almost like a Wes Anderson film. Imagine rows of radicchio, rainbow chard, exquisite endive, squash blossoms, sunchokes and artichokes, fennel with their fronds tangled in long red chilies surrounded by pungent herbs like perilla, lovage, tarragon. An extra star just for that. But... My only gripe is their weekly Saturday BBQ. Through the years I have enjoyed both kinds of ribs, the brisket, sausages, turkey and chicken that they cook and smoke right outside in the parking lot. Even if you don't see it, you'll smell it within a couple blocks. I can't think of a better way to promote a bbq business and Handy Market knows it. They're counting on all the new customers who get lured in by the intoxicating scent of grilled meats on live fire to try this sad, sorry excuse that they call BBQ. All the meats are dry, tasteless and overcooked. They do not season any of the meat, not even a lick of salt. They want you to buy their sugary bbq sauce and baste them on the grill. Meaning you still have to finish cooking it at home but it was tasty enough and the price was low so it was worth doing for many years. Lately though, it's been expensive and inedible. The quality of all the meat has become sus and I was sold the driest beef ribs with texture like leather, that they probably dug up from the back of a freezer and a smelly turkey leg that's left over from like, Thanksgiving. My homemade bbq sauce could not save either meat and suffice to say I will never order barbecue from here again. What's happened to you, Handy Mart? I just can't believe you've slipped so far. This is the worst bbq in all of LA and I cannot recommend anyone eating here. Those brave souls who do not heed this cautionary tale cannot say you haven't been warned. Good luck.
