    Missile of Love(Bacon Breakfast Burrito)

The wait will make or break you. Today I waited 28 mins for a bacon breakfast burrito...... with 70 other people, lol. This breakfast burrito belongs on the top 10 list of California Breakfast Burrito's (Larry's down the street is another), but it could be "the best breakfast burrito in Burbank." The thing that makes them unique is the undercooked potatoes with their unique cheese. This, cut with the acidity of the spicy salsa works incredibly well." Looks like new management since I used to come here, but it's the same "Ford T assembly line madness." I recommend that, a plain bacon breakfast burr, plus extra chile(salsa).

Drove by here a couple times and noticed quite a flock of people hanging around on Saturday mornings. After our run at Griffith Park we came here to join the breakfast crowd. They have self service kiosks, one is outside and one is inside. They do cash only at the counter register. Drinks like coffee are served up quick. But you'll expect to wait at least 15-20 minutes for your breakfast burritos. There are a lot of delivery drivers here picking up orders, so the place is probably 2 or 3 times busier than it might look. The burrito is a nice soft golden color, among the most beautiful burritos I've seen. We ordered extra crispy potatoes but the didn't seem any crispier that ordinary ones. Didn't get that satisfying double fried potato crunch. Their salsa is award winning although it's not clear what the award was. They let you know up front that it's spicy. And it truly is! I don't think they have a mild version. Might want to get a cold drink to wash down the heat. One burrito was enough for two people trying to manage the size of their waistlines. Ample parking but you might have to park on a nearby street at peak times.

I lived in California 20+ years ago for about a year and used to come to Burbank almost every weekend to grab a burrito from here. 24 years later and I came back for an apt and here it is, smaller burritos but just as good as they were back then.

This place is seriously the size of a small cottage on a corner located in Burbank, haha. (CASH ONLY - at least when you order at the counter) Besides the apt naming, this place is a no frills spot that primarily serves takeout breakfast burritos during breakfast hours and for lunch, there's a menu of burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. I came here for a breakfast burrito. You can choose to have your salsa mixed into your burrito or have a cup or two on the side. And although there is some seating - counters, a few tables inside, and some tables outside in the back - it seams a lot of their business is takeout, especially when it's really busy. I ordered the breakfast burrito with ham. Like I mentioned, this place is no frills so I had an idea what to expect and they delivered. The flavors are more old school and that lots of the filling are cooked on a griddle with their potatoes a little lower on the crisp scale. It's a good size breakfast burrito and you definitely aren't hungry after finishing one. The salsa has a good kick without being too spicy. What truly amazing is the price. Of the many breakfast burrito offerings across the city, this feels like one of the better values. Also, know that this place can get really busy so wait times will be adjusted accordingly. It took about 25 mins for my burrito. I think there's a way to order on some app or online because it seemed like other people were picking up while I was sitting there waiting for my order. There's some lot parking and plenty of street parking nearby. Especially in the morning on a weekend, there seemed to be lots of parking available outside of their lot.

Just Okay - Not Worth the Hype Heard all the hype about Corner Cottage being the spot for breakfast burritos, so I had to try it. As a Hispanic guy who's had plenty of great burritos, I was honestly disappointed. I ordered the sausage, egg, potato, and cheese burrito with their famous hot sauce. The sauce was spicy, sure--but the burrito itself? Pretty average. Not bad, just not worth the long 20-30 minute wait. The staff was friendly and hardworking, and there's a good amount of parking, which is a plus. But if you're coming here because of social media, manage your expectations. It's not the "holy grail" people make it out to be.

The good: 1. Affordable burritos! $9 a burrito 2. Line is usually out the door 3. It's a community staple 4. Burritos themselves are pretty delicious for what you pay for 5. It's a unique American twist to the classic burrito. Scalloped potatoes (idk why everyone is complaining, I think the potatoes are delicious!) as well as American cheese (I'm a big fan of American cheese) 6. Their salsa is suuuper good The bad: 1. In the two times I've been here w my gf, we've had to wait 30-40 minutes for our 2 burritos. 2. Burritos don't really have any meat. Mostly just cheese and burritos. To be frank, I feel like the burrito maybe had 1 or 2 sausages total that were cut up and distributed. I understand that they're affordable and you can pay more for an all meat burrito ($16 though which is a pretty penny!) 3. Cash only (not really a bad thing but gonna put this out there as most people rely on card now and can be seen as an iconvenience) Overall, these folks work really hard. There is an insane amount of people who want these burritos and it takes a whole lot of manpower to feed the community like that. I might be back, but probably will need to order an hour ahead of time. I ordered 30 min ahead of time and still had to wait another 10 minutes on top.

I ordered the bacon burrito online ahead of time on a Sunday around 11am. The wait was about an hour, and I received a text when my order was ready. The burrito was good, and the salsa was really tasty. The salsa is spicy but flavorful! I'd recommend getting the salsa on the side. They have a parking lot and outdoor seating. There is also street parking around the area.

I haven't been here in over 10 years and decided to have a breakfast burrito. They have changed owners. They added patio seating and a kiosk where you can actually pay with card. The salsa was on the bitter side. Maybe the chilies were not ripe? Afterwards, all of us who are the burritos had stomach issues. I don't think I will be going there again.

great people great workers love the energy they're always working so hard! Only thing I knew people don't like is the wait but it's so worth it these burritos are awesome!

I came by to grab a bite on a Saturday at 11am. I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito. The burrito itself is ok, a bit bland for me but their salsa saved it. There was a good ratio of ingredients and it was cooked ok. I just wouldn't wait 50 minutes for it which leads me to my next point. Most places will tell you if there will be a 10-15 minute wait for your food. While the cashier and the workers seemed nice, I felt it was bad practice they did not mention the wait time. It seemed like a lot of people ordered online and came to pick it up which may have added to us not suspecting it to be such a huge wait. It's poor timing but this detail contributed to our disappointment. Also note they only take CASH ONLY unless you pay online. So if you walk in, plan to bring cash.

My husband and I were in the Burbank area visiting family and he was craving breakfast burritos. We are from NorCal so he wanted to make sure we eat good Mexican food and breakfast burritos while we were down in SoCal. He came across this spot from reading about how good it was on Reddit and so we decided to try it out. Luckily it was 10min away from our hotel! We get to the spot and parking was full. There is another parking lot on the other side that was empty. The place is located right at a corner of a busy intersection so you can't miss it. The place is also cash only. We went in and took our order and prices were very reasonable! The wait for our food took a while but the place was packed with people and busy so since it was our first time here, we stuck it out to see how good this place really was. We finally got our order and it definitely did not disappoint! Probably one of the best breakfast burritos that I've had! The burrito was packed with flavor and was so big that I only ate half and saved the other half for later. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area and craving breakfast burritos!

Came at noon on a Saturday. Parking lot was full but plenty of street parking. I got a bacon breakfast burrito and my partner got a steak breakfast burrito. We waited about 25 minutes after walking in and everyone was friendly. I have to say these should be called just a potato & egg burrito with tiny bits of meat. There was barely any bacon or steak in either burrito. Regardless, the bacon burrito was much better to the steak. Good flavor, just missing the protein of it all. They also charge .50 cents for a refill on a medium drink which is interesting. Honestly think we will stick to Lucky Boy in Pasadena for a breakfast burrito.

Ask the Community - Corner Cottage

Can you phone in your order?

Yes you can. you can order online now at order.cornercottage.com

What is the phone number I always call the number on yelp and google but they don't answer?

That number is correct sometimes when it's busy especially Friday/Saturday they take it off the hook. But during the week keep trying they'll eventually pick up

    Are they open on Saturday?

Yea at 7am and they stop serving breakfast burritos at 11am. Also you will wait a while on Saturdays.

Is corner cottage still open? I tried visiting a few times for breakfast and its been closed and the phone line is always busy?

Yes it's still open, they sometimes close on days around holidays. The phone is busy often from people calling in orders and usually on Friday or Saturday they take it off the hook since it's so busy.

Are there onions in the salsa?

What time do you guys stop making breakfast?

    11 am

Are the hours accurate? Been here twice and they're not open at 7am on Saturday.......

I've never been so I'm not very helpful but perhaps call later in the day and ask what their hours of operation are. Also I have to wonder if they have adjusted hours due to this whole Covid fiasco.

Does anyone if they are still open during this pandemic?

    Yes, take out only.

When's the best time to go so it's not busy?

    When they first open...

Can you order over the phone and then pick up?

Yes but not during breakfast times. They are too busy

What time do they stop selling breakfast?

They stop selling breakfast burritos at 11 am. You'd better get there before then, as the line is long and so is the wait. But, man, are they worth the wait. The homemade salsa is fantastic. Good luck and may your taste buds be delighted.

Anybody know what's in their salsa?

Home made very hot I usually ask for easy sauce some like it on the side I know that is very popular I hope I answered your question it has jalapeño probably onion and cilantro I am just guessing from the taste

Do they offer vegan breakfast options? It came up as a vegan friendly spot on yelp but I don't think that's accurate

To be honest I don't believe they do. I've never inquired about vegan options so I could be wrong!

The first issue came when my matcha was made hot instead of iced and had to be remade. Even after the remake, it tasted like straight matcha powder and wasn't well mixed. As I walked into the shop around 7:30 a.m., the outdoor trash area was already overflowing. Inside, there was a trash can right next to the pickup counter that smelled bad and had visible stains all over it. For being so early in the morning, I was surprised that the trash hadn't been emptied or the area cleaned before opening. The salted cold brew cloud was decent, but overall the drinks, food, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Hoping this was just an off morning, but based on this visit, I wouldn't rush back.

I had passed by this restaurant before but had never been curious enough to actually stop in. This time their drink menu advertised outside caught my attention so I figured "hey, why not?" From the moment I walked in i was trying to figure out whether I liked the atmosphere or not. The music was excellent, but the décor took me a second to process. It felt like an 80s lounge crashed into a neon Día de los Muertos inspired art gallery. It's most definitely not a quiet, cozy restaurant. It has more of a loud, colorful, party style personality. I was seated promptly by a kind hostess but I wasn't attended to by a waiter for nearly 10 minutes. Once my waiter did come by he was kind, quick, and professional. Now, I'm going to be honest.. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican restaurant food, so I didn't have the highest expectations. I ordered the potato taquitos, a Jarrito Loco made with watermelon purée, vodka instead of tequila, and chamoy on the rim, plus chiles toreados and one carne asada taco. Laugh all you want, but I was half expecting the food to come out looking like a cafeteria lady had splattered it onto a plate... I was genuinely impressed by the presentation instead. The potato "taquitos" were bigger than I expected so don't let the "itos" fool you. They were crispy, flavorful, filling, and honestly so delicious. Those get a 5/5 from me. My drink was also incredible. It was refreshing, especially with how hot the day was, and had just the right amount of alcohol. The presentation was so cute I almost felt bad ruining it. Easily one of the best drinks I've had in the Burbank area -- 5/5. The carne asada taco wasn't as impressive as the potato taquitos, so I'd give that a 3/5. The chile toreado was definitely spicy, it just needed to be salted a little more but otherwise no complaints! I need to remind myself not to be too quick to judge because I was genuinely surprised by this place. The décor wasn't fully my personal style, but the food and drinks more than made up for it. I'd definitely come back again, especially for the potato taquitos and drinks.

My wife ordered the Truffle Burger, replete with onions and mushrooms and cheese. The trappings were all very tasty, and the burger itself was packed with flavor, and came cooked to a very proper medium rare. Onion rings were excellent, and (regardless of the lemon-pepper) the better bet as a side. All in all, this is a great, comfy place with good menu and a really welcoming staff. We arrived there at 11:15am and the out me in the waitlist, I wait for 1hr and I never receive the notification on my phone that my table was ready so I want to ask what was going on, the guy tolde oh you missed your table, and I said how come if I haven't got any notifications on my phone? He said show me your phone and I did and he did apologize and said give me few minutes I will give you the next table, does few minutes turn into another 39min. At this point I was already frustrated from all the wait but I remained calmed. Finally after almost 2hr we got our table, we order our food. My daughter order the French toast with fresh strawberry's, on the menu has the option with strawberry sauce or Fresh strawberry's and we specifically asked for Fresh strawberry's. I order chilaquiles and my husband also chilaquiles and my sun order pancakes. The food arrived after almost 1hr wait, we were starving after all the wait and the order of the French toast was wrong they send it with strawberry sauce instead of fresh strawberry's and we let our waiter know and he did offer to change it or just bring the fresh strawberry's on the side and my daughter said she was starving and didn't want to wait for another order so just said she just wanted the strawberry's on the side, he did bring the strawberries. And everything will be fine even do we didn't like the food, but when we got the check they charge $6 for the side of strawberries, I wouldn't mind if it was our mistake. I know $6 it's not a lot, it's just the principle that they supposed to correct their mistake. We didn't ask them to remove the charge we just paid and we still leave a good tip because we al way like to tip good. But honestly I wouldn't recommend this place. And we are never going back.
