Came here for late breakfast/lunch the other day. I haven't been here in at least 10yrs and my boyfriend and son had never been here. My son ordered 3 appetizers he got curly fries, onion rings and sweet potato fries. They were delicious!! He then ordered himself a breakfast burrito which he enjoyed, I ordered a shrimp boil (and of course I forgot to take a pic) it was delicious very flavorful! My boyfriend ordered the fiesta ranchera which was with sirloin steak eggs but he wasn't a huge a fan but said it was ok (he's very particular about his steak). The menu is huge with a lot to choose from. The service was great and the restaurant itself gives old school diner (which we loved) the ambiance gave old Hollywood with posters and pics of celebrities! They had a ton of dessert to pick from, I had to get the carrot cake to go because of how full I was. We will definitely come back to try more off their menu! read more

Sunday, looking for a breakfast spot and literally just landed here! It wasn't overly crowded and the place was full, not packed, and plenty of parking. They have an outside patio, yet this morning was cloudy so decided to dine inside. The place has lots of old movie posters on the walls, ie Errol Flynn, Hopalong Cassidy , WC Fields, etc. I ordered the Turkey Combo, oh and the server was very nice, with lots of energy and a great smile. The hostess also was very friendly. Again service is nearly half the experience and I was not disappointed. Now the menu is extensive and there are a lot to choose from. After all these years (decades?) still one of the friendliest and tastiest coffee shop/diners left in Burbank. Delicious salads, super homespun entrees in generous portions, great house baked desserts (pies, cakes and pastries) and the best and fastest servers around town. Plenty of parking in the side and rear. ADA accessible entrance and seating, lots of specials and open early and late for the best options at any hour. It's not super fancy, but nothing beats a home cooked style meal that's great for everyone in the family (lots of kids and Senior discount options.) I meant to take photos of my food to review, but I was way too hungry and it was all so good! I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and added sausage and eggs (I wish there had been a way to swap the pancake combo pancakes to chocolate chip with an online order- it was so much food!) I had eaten here a really long time ago, but this was my first time doing a takeout order and it was great! Everything was packed up nicely, including the orange juice. I've been coming here for 20+ years. It's a solid breakfast diner with an extensive menu. Good parking but restaurant will get full by 9a so plan accordingly. Decor is old Hollywood and it's just fine. Employees are always good. Today I was with three friends. I had the pork chop and eggs. They have a cake/pie counter that I've never used but if that is something you're looking for, it might be helpful! I will say that the potatoes are kinda meh. I pay the extra $1 for the O'Brien as the ey are the best of the three offered but nothing special. As expected the eggs have always been cooked perfectly for me. The highlight for us at this diner this morning was the holiday decorations. It is decorated so festive and it's fun given the warm temps this December. It doesn't feel like the holidays do Coral Cafe's decor was appreciated. Service was kind but spotty. Forgetfulness was happening with our server but that's probably because their section was large, I'm hoping. Otherwise, the server was distracted because I had to ask for the same item three times before it made it to the table. The hollandaise was cold on our eggs Benedict. The entire plate of food was lukewarm. The taste wasn't bad but the cold hollandaise sauce was a huge disappointment. This was our first time in and I am not sure we'll be back. Finding this place was a happy accident and I'm so glad we did because this is what diners are supposed to be! With their big menu, generous portions, refillable coffee, amazing staff and super chill atmosphere, this restaurant checks all the boxes. We ordered their big breakfast (I think that's what it was called lol) which came with eggs, bacon, ham and pancakes!! It was big enough to share! We were driving around jn the area waiting for my car to be fixed and found this spot. It's pretty big inside with that old school diner feel. There were pictures on the wall of Marilyn Monroe, 3 stooges, the old times. It was about 10:30am on a Wednesday and the place was full with families, friends, and some single diners as well. I went with my husband and I ordered the french toast combo while he had the pancakes combo with hash browns and coffee. The food came out fast! The portions were huge and delicious. I loved my french toast the most. The sausage was a bit too salty for me and sunny side egg could use more seasoning but still good. My husband didn't care for the coffee he felt it was watered down and he didn't like the butter. We were Satisfied for the most part and had left overs. Their menu is huge and I would definitely like to come back and try some other things next time I'm in the area. All the staff were really friendly as well and seemed to know all of the patrons. A simple long running diner in Burbank offering a dictionary of comfort menu items to appeal to all taste buds. There was zero shortage on choices. From breakfast, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, dinners, salads, and things in between. Most items are $18-$22. Thankfully they have coke products. Thats a big hit. We ordered a Philly Cheesesteak with fries. As well as a BBW chicken breast with sides. It was a massive amount. Food was okay. Next time I will opt in to try their summer menu with chicken kebabs. I love some biscuits and gravy so whenever I see it on the menu, I always order it! Ambiance is mellow here, especially on the weekday breakfast time. Residents of Burbank usually, but a sprinkle of tourists passing through. Now to the food: the portion of the biscuits and gravy is hefty for one person. Taste: not, good, nor bad. It's missing that authentic pork drippings that make a left biscuits and gravy. But here's where it lacks. The temperature of the gravy and biscuits were ROOM TEMPERATURE!!!! What!!!! No, that is an absolute no. You can pretend to make it "fresh" but room temperature gravy makes it obvious that it wasn't made fresh at all! It clearly came from a can or some sort. And the biscuits were also room temp. Sigh. Not a place for biscuits and gravy! Guess I will have to come back for the other options for breakfast here as the menu is vast. read more

Came here for something to eat and watch the Rams game after a nice walk on the Burbank bike path. Ordered a tuna wrap and fries well done. The tuna wrap was good - probably would have taken half home had I eaten more fries which were also good and a large portion. Our server was good, the food came out quickly and when finished he came to pick it up. I wish I would have gotten his name to say something nice. This restaurant has been around forever, has a few different areas to sit in and I was given a seat as soon as I walked in with no reservation at around 6pm. My partner and I took his parents here for brunch after picking them up from the Burbank airport when they came to visit. We are all originally from the Midwest and I am constantly on the lookout for a chicken fried steak in Los Angeles, and I must say that this is the best I have found so far! The chicken fried steak & eggs comes with 3 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, + hashbrowns or fruit (I obv went for hashbrowns because you might as well go all in). The hashbrowns were great as well. My partner got their breakfast burrito, which he thought was filling and satisfying even though there are obviously better places to get a breakfast burrito around LA. My father-in-law also enjoyed the chicken fried steak & eggs and my mother-in-law enjoyed her omelette. Everyone finished their plates except for me - it was just a lot of food! The server was pleasant and attentive. She seemed to know several of the people who walked in while we sat there eating. The vibe is very casual, so my partner's parents didn't feel out of place. My spouse and I decided to have lunch at Coral Cafe since we were nearby anyway. We chose to sit in the back patio, and we were lucky that there was still one available table. The restaurant was quite busy. After ordering something to drink, after being asked by the busboy, this absolutely wonderful and lovely waitress gave us the pleasure of helping us with our order. My spouse had a tuna melt with fries, and I had a crispy chicken B.L.T.A. with fries that was so delicious. Also, my spouse was quite happy with his sandwich. Their fries are one of the best you can find. The portion sizes of the meals, enormous for the price. Their menu itself- so much to offer. When we were ready to ask for our check, I did ask that wonderful waitress for her name, but I feel so bad, I forgot, and the bill she wrote down the gentleman at the register kept it. After we, ready to pay, we had to go to the front entrance to pay, and there was a gentleman behind a counter with a cash register. I think he might've been the owner. There were also some women sitting behind some other smaller counter. There I paid the bill for both of us. My spouse already looked at the cakes and pies. We weren't sure if we wanted something sweet to take home or not. But as soon as I paid, that gentleman was on his phone and sat somewhere else and talked to someone on the phone ( we felt uncomfortable going to him and interrupting him) and that lady on the other counter didn't even look at us, so we had some questions about what cake was what. We stood there for a while, like waiting for the Metro bus. Looked at each other and decided to. No big deal. This was my go to diner spot for a long time, quality has gone downhill big time and prices have gone uphill. Regardless, I stopped by to support them and get a decent breakfast and was seated for about 30 minutes and didn't get a single server that walked by and took our order or even acknowledged our existence, not even a hello! This used to be one of our go to places, but they've gone really downhill. I ordered a hamburger with some sweet potato fries. The hamburger was thin as paper hard as a rock. Coral Cafe is a Burbank icon! They have been around for a long time and walking in is literally taking a step into some Burbank history. You get some of the old time diner vibes but still get a quality dining experience. They have a very extensive menu, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner options offered all day long. Serving sizes are generous and can also easily be shared. You can't go wrong with their pancakes or biscuits and gravy for breakfast and they have a great Montecristo sandwich. They also have quite a few vegetarian options that can easily be made vegan without cheese, which is nice since not all diners have too many option. There is even a section within the menu that has a lot of the items that are standard vegetarian. They also have incredible desserts! When you walk in you see beautiful cakes and pies on display that change up every day. alongside their milkshakes and ice cream sundaes on the menu, you can easily have a fun time celebrating at Coral Cafe. The service is pretty quick and the food is fresh. There are a lot of tables and booth inside the restaurant and a bar you can sit at to really get a classic diner feel. The servers are always kind and attentive, and treat you like family. They bring around water, refills and coffee all the time and make sure that your experience is a good one. I have been to Coral Cafe so many times over the years. They used to be open 24/7 which was so fun cause you could go and get a piece of pie or a milkshake in the middle of the night. So many great memories! While they are no longer 24/7, they are still such a staple to check out when in Burbank. read more

I don't know what's happening to the quality of food at The Coral Café. The steak is always good. However, their baked potatoes are old, yellow inside and appear to have been baked over and over. We've gone from three stars to four stars to five. Why? Consistency, vibe, and food. Several times a year I direct shows nearby and that's our go-to place sometimes before sometimes after the show or rehearsals. They have excellent everything, basically. Soups are good, salads are fresh and good, good wraps, good chicken salad sandwiches (add some bacon), great breakfasts. They used to be open all night, which I liked, but since the pandemic they now close at midnight. I ordered a simple ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and toast--for $17.95. Highly overpriced for a sub-par preparation of flat, overcooked eggs with some oversalted ham and two slices of American cheese laid flat on top. Coffee was extra and my bill was $22.16, including tax. No--this NOT a proper omelet, nor was it even good for just plain scrambled eggs and ham. Hash browns barely crispy on the edges and undercooked in the middle, no flavor what-so-ever, except salt. Service was OK, and I did tip 20%. No need to punish the servers for bad cooks. Large portion--but who can eat a ton of this truly bad food? The ambiance is zero. An old, outdated coffee shop that does not even have a nostalgic charm. None. No--the posters don't count. Price is outrageous for the overall experience. A better experience is the Black Angus weekend brunch with fluffy, well prepared omlettes, 2- versions, with potato croquettes and fresh fruit for $12.95.
