Both times I've been here, I thought it was good. Standard fast food place atmosphere but with a Firefighter theme. Service was quick. Food was tasty, especially the soup.

People are so nice here. The server I had was attentive to my order to make sure they got it right the first time and "yes" they did. I like Firehouse Subs when they have specials and my favorites are Engineer and Meatball. I will say that some of their sandwiches (i.e. honey ham) is pretty sweet. I like mine savory most of the time. Sweet on sweet is not my style. The place is clean and great to sit and eat at. It's a pretty nice neighborhood to stop by. There is an Amazon Fresh not too far should you feel like adventuring on foot.

Firehouse Subs is and will be the only sandwich place I'll ever eat at. I'm not a sandwich/subs girl at all but something about Firehouse is insanely delicious. Melt in your mouth goodness and I love how soft the bread is. The meat and sauces are perfection! First time visiting this location today and the staff is incredibly friendly and super helpful! They really push the rewards app but not annoyingly, it's really to help get y'all some free items and goodies honestly! Great spot, great food, great staff! Love how clean this one is too. Lots of seating and spaced out nicely. Can't wait to come back! IG: @ammysalamii

I will say I usually stick with the soft rolls, as the "crusty" Italian rolls tend to taste stale, rather than crisp. However, reason for 4 stars instead of 5 -- they recently changed their online ordering menu, and IMO it's a disaster for ordering sandwiches. I've stopped ordering because there's no way to change or remove toppings on specialty sandwiches, no way to know what toppings are included on non-specialty sandwiches, and no way to add or select cheese (besides Swiss?). Seems odd for a deli to not have a clear layout for these options, and the previous version of their menu did a better job at this.

It's got a seriously cool vibe to the place; almost a mix of Mel's Diner nostalgia, but the ambience of an independent comic book shop that has all the cool toys. They carry a seriously good swath of international snacks and beverages that you will not find many other places. And the only thing that would make it better is if they had a counter you could sit at and enjoy your meal. First attempt pulled up lame when I was told they were out of meatballs and wouldn't have any for at least three days. Crushed. I had my heart set on the meatball so I didn't order anything else on the left.. Second attempt turned out much better because they had the meatballs!! I ordered it up and was told it'd be :20 (and came within :10) so I sat at the couple of tables just outside the front door. I was planning on eating the sandwich there, but it was way too hot outside so I took it to go. Driving home and not looking inside to see what it looked like. Because the sandwich wasn't as heavy as I expected when it was handed to me, I suspected the social media video was a bit overblown on portion size, so I was excited to get home and see. The first thing I noticed was that the sandwich was a pretty good size, and just tantalizingly presented, and cooked with some great browning. I picked it up and tried to take a bite, but the meatball was bigger than I could get my mouth open! However, I persisted and that's when I found out that the ride home caused the bottom of the bun to get a little soggy, and everything started squirting out through the bottom, so I made the sad decision to try to eat it with a fork and knife (which really is the saddest way to eat a good sub). However #2, the second half of the sandwich did not suffer the same fate, so I was able to pick that up and that section of the sandwich the way it was meant to be enjoyed. All-in-all, the sandwich pretty much lived up to expectations. Visually appealing, large portions, tasty, but fairly tame flavor. Textures were great. Not as messy as I expected, but just enough to give you extra licks on your fingers. Also, it didn't sit in my gut the way I thought it would, especially considering I've been fasting all day for medical test (and this was my reward). I was full and content, but not stuffed.

It may just also be my favorite deli in LA for anything vegetable/side dish. As other reviews note, the selection of prepared foods for such a small shop is staggering. I've been coming for three years now, and while I'm guilty of ordering my favorites often, I think I'd have a tough time making my way through all of the foods on offer even if I switched it up on each visit. 4 different types of meatballs (the chicken breast one is to die for), lox, cabbage rolls, at least a half dozen cooked seafood options (shout out fish in tomato sauce), stroganoff, 3-4 different types of couscous and plov....and that's only half of the non veggie section. The cakes are great (Black Forest and walnut go hard). The Russian/Ukranian chip flavors rule. There are specialty candies and jarred foods and good looking fruits and veggies. There's an off menu soup with dill and little chicken meatballs that I'd recommend to anyone ailing in a heartbeat. And then, finally, we arrive at the salads and cold veggies. Nonstop bangers. The beet salad with prunes and garlic may sound wild for non Eastern European tastes, but it's unique and addictive and works. The potato salad Olivier? Best potato salad I've ever had. My wife has recently discovered the zucchini, which looks like a bunch of unassuming diced veggies but tastes savory and complex and herby. The pastrami was phenomenal -- hot, tender, flavorful, piled high on rye and exactly what I was hoping for. One of the best pastrami sandwiches I've had in LA. But what really made the experience stand out were the people. Val was awesome and made us feel incredibly welcome. Sirjan gave us the recommendations and absolutely nailed it -- everything he suggested was spot on. And a huge shoutout to Pascual, who made our food. Everything came out perfect. You can tell there's a lot of pride behind this place. Art's isn't trying to be trendy or reinvent what a deli should be -- they just do it right. Great pastrami, classic LA atmosphere, and genuinely great people. Thank you Val, Sirjan, and Pascual for taking such great care of us. You guys made the experience. It was on the early side, so the servers were all embroiled in personal conversations, and it took quite some time for someone to approach me -- but once they did, they took good care of me, checking on me multiple times, and making sure I had everything I needed. Ambiance and decor are unchanged from whenever they built the place, but perfectly clean and well-maintained. While I was initially delivered the entirely wrong order (no harm, no foul), my pastrami sandwich eventually arrived hot and juicy, and decently portioned. The meat was flavorful and just fatty enough to be indulgent without crossing the line into a problem; the rye was sturdy, with good flavor, the Swiss had the right level of bite, and the Russian dressing provided just the right contrast of creaminess. It was a good sandwich. The potato salad was far less successful, tasting commercial and somewhat sour -- not spoiled (I don't want to give that impression), but more acidic than creamy, and therefore less enjoyable to me. Of course, the Dr. Brown's was flawless. In the end, Brent's remains the better deli in the Valley, with all the food a few notches above; but if you're on this side of town, Art's will treat you well, so you might as well...

While we were waiting, my mom suddenly became very hungry. Both she and I tend to get low blood sugar, so when hunger hits, we usually need to eat something right away. Since the car was being washed, we looked around for a place within walking distance and happened to discover this small Italian deli nearby. They offered sandwiches and pasta dishes. Since both my mom and I love pasta, we decided to have lunch here. We ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce (no meat). When ordering, we were asked whether we wanted penne or spaghetti, and we chose spaghetti. My brother ordered the Eggplant Lasagna. Both dishes came with garlic bread, and the garlic bread was absolutely delicious. The spaghetti was so good, and the Eggplant Lasagna was equally tasty. The restaurant itself was very small, but it felt like discovering a hidden gem. I noticed photos of Hollywood stars displayed on the walls and wondered if they were pictures of celebrities who had visited the restaurant over the years. According to the information displayed inside, the restaurant has been operating since 1971, which explains why it feels like such a long-standing neighborhood favorite. The staff members were all very friendly, and I left an additional cash tip. My mom kindly treated us to lunch today using her credit card, and I am very grateful. There were, however, two downsides to our visit. First, I used the restroom and noticed that it had a bad smell there. Second, after checking in on Yelp, I noticed that the restaurant's posted closing time was 3:00 PM. We arrived around 2:30 PM for a late lunch. My brother was delayed because he had to pick up the car from the car wash and didn't arrive until around 2:45 PM. While we were still eating, one of the staff began putting chairs up and cleaning the dining room. By 3:00 PM, it felt as though they were waiting for customers to leave. The front door was left open, and the atmosphere made us feel somewhat rushed. I asked one of the staff members what time they closed, and he confirmed that they closed at 3:00 PM. We quickly packed up our remaining garlic bread to go and left shortly afterward. On a positive note, when I asked for a to-go box, they were very friendly and carefully packed everything for us. Overall, the food was delicious, and the staff was kind. However, I didn't particularly enjoy having the chairs put away and the dining room cleaned while customers were still eating. It would have been nicer if someone had simply let us know that the restaurant closed at 3:00 PM. We would have gladly finished up and left on our own. Despite that issue, I still enjoyed the food very much and was happy to discover this hidden neighborhood gem. I love Italian food, and I've dined at many upscale Italian restaurants with elegant atmospheres over the years. While this place is small and simple, the food was truly excellent and full of flavor.

After placing an order on their website, you would park in the back lot where it's free parking, and enter a tempt room of lockers. I wish they included this in the text where you are to CALL THEM to let them know you've arrived so they can bring your order out to you. It's not like the other establishment in this shared kitchen where they just leave it in one of the order cubbies to pick up. So here I am like an idiot just standing and waiting in the empty room for my order. I didn't know until I checked my email and it said to call them in my receipt. Oh well. Anyway, here's what I ordered: BASTURMA BRISKET - $29 Hand Carved Basturma Brisket, Pickled Persian Cucumber, Chaman Spread, and Swiss Cheese. Served in freshly baked pita bread. I know, what kind of sandwich costs nearly $30!? But let me tell you, you are getting both quality and quantity in this bad boy. This reads 2 people, and those 2 will enjoy this thoroughly. Yes, it's a bit on the saltier side, but that's why you have the cucumber to balance it out a bit and the warm and soft pita bread. The brisket was tender and I loved the spread (which you can buy!). It's such a unique take on the common pastrami sandwich. So remember: 1. Order online (no phone calls) 2. Park in the back 3. CALL THEM, letting you know you have arrived. 4. I ordered the Basturma Brisket Sandwich which is their most popular item. I am a big fan of both Basturma and Brisket so this sounded like a match made in heaven. And I was right!!! This sandwich was epic!! The meat was tender and smoky. The spices were perfectly balanced. It had a delicious Chaman Spread, a slice of Swiss cheese and housemade pickled Persian cucumbers. The acidity of the pickles helped to balance out the rich meat. It all came together like magic. The sandwich is quite large, which justifies the $29 price. I only ate half and saved the rest for later. It was just as good cold as it was hot. I can't wait for my friends to try it. They will love it!! Great job III Mas!
