There is a variety of sides, but make sure you don't forget to ask for the complimentary pickled radishes that come with almost every dish. It's always a great time at Zankou. Any one of the locations. Last night I had asked my son to bring us food from Zankou Chicken. He placed the order on his phone and went to pick it up. Was helped by Sandra B. Food was ready and he didn't have to wait. We ordered different things. I got Shish Kabob plate with extra Shish Skewer that came with Hummus, Basmati Rice, and salad Shirazi. (mixed vegetables: onions, tomato, cucumber, and lemon dressing.) It also came with 2 round Pita Breads. I also got 1 Roasted Chicken Wrap with dark meat. My son got Tarna Bowl with hummus, Cucumber Salad and Garlic sauce. He asked his to be half Rice/half Lettuce. They were all generous portions. My meat was overcooked, almost well done when I have asked them to prepare medium-rare. It was very hard for me to chew. Other than that everything else was good. Place was clean, nice music playing overhead, has 2 bathrooms and a nice sized parking lot shared with Baja Fresh and Valvoline oil change station. It should be illegal to have food this good. Period. From the moment I walked in here the smell from the food just made me wish I tried this place sooner. The chicken? Delicious. The beef? Excellent. The hummus? Very yummy. Now, the mint cucumber drink is on the sweet side, but that's a me problem. I water it down and it's all good. I'm very, very happy to say I came here twice here in a week. I love this place! The chicken shawarma, the rotisserie chicken, the rice, the salads, the hummus, the baba... and the GARLIC SAUCE. All so good. I usually get a plate and my husband grabs a gyro. When I went to pick up my food, the staff member kept insisting that I needed to provide my name. I explained that I wasn't sure if I had given a name when ordering, but I showed her my receipt with the order number and asked if she could check using that. Instead of helping, she refused and kept repeating that I needed to know my name. What made it worse was how she spoke to me in front of other customers. It felt dismissive and embarrassing, especially since I was trying to cooperate and provide the information I had. This situation could have been resolved quickly by checking the order number. Not sure what is going on with the cooks here but we keep getting our chicken kabobs super burnt and can't even eat some of the meat when it's cooled that bad. Server is always super nice and good place to go with the kids once in a while when they don't over cook the meat. read more

Look, it's Zankou. And this one is great. Decent parking lot. Nice, clean restaurant (I like it more than the one in Burbank), and the food is delish. I get the luleh kabob and it was so good. I extra love the pink pickled turnips/beets. That extra fresh CRUNCH. I took an out of towner here and she loved it. The garlic paste is where it is at. It doesn't matter if you don't like garlic. Went for dinner there tonight and got there about 10 minutes before closing, but was greeted by Tony. I believe he's still in training, but he still took our order happily and was extremely nice. Honestly one of the best fast casual restaurants in LA, consistently. My only complaint is that they changed their layout on Postmates so now I can't modify the bowls and salads. I've been a fan of Zankou for years and always pay them a visit when I am near one. Service at this location is pretty good, especially given that they are usually quite busy at lunch time. I grabbed my normal Chicken Tarna Wrap which comes packed with juicy seasoned chicken, chopped tomato and a huge slathering of their garlic sauce called toum. I always ask for a side of tahini sauce to add to the wrap and to dip my turnip pickles into. My only complaint, other than how much their prices have gone up in the last 5 years, is that the tomatoes are always underripe. While I could understand that in the winter, this is summertime...prime tomato season...there is no excuse for serving tasteless underripe tomatoes. read more

Found a METAL NAIL in my son's rice for our takeout meal and when we reported it to the store manager and elevated it to corporate, they clearly didn't believe us (why would we lie about that?) and they offered a measly gift card. A GIFT CARD so I could return?! Why would I ever go back to Zankou after finding a dangerous, inedible, foreign object in our food and being made to feel like we were being dishonest about it? I am officially in love with this place! I mean, wow... just WOW! My group of friends and I stopped in at Zankou Chicken one night for a quick bite to eat while visiting from out of town. I was immediately impressed with their amazing menu options, clean restaurant, and open kitchen. The young lady that took my order was so friendly and very helpful at answering all of my many many questions. Once we sat down and received our food, I kid you not, I was licking the plate by the end!!! Everything was soooooo flavorful, so fresh, so well seasoned, so well cooked... and just perfect!
