I stopped by Submarine King for the first time today to have lunch. The shop was clean and inviting, and I appreciated their extensive menu. I would assume the owners are a Korean family due to the staff I saw and the few Korean dishes on the menu. I ordered "The Famous King" sub - avocado, turkey, ham, roast beef, and cheese. A full sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, black olives, mayo, and mustard. I only had to wait a few minutes for my sandwich which was brought out for me. The bread they used was very soft which honestly I loved! I can't stand having my mouth ripped up by crunchy bread, and that seems to be the default for most sandwich places. The sandwich was delicious overall. My only issue was it felt like there was more bread than meat. Maybe next time I will just ask for extra protein. $12.50 was a great deal. If I wasn't being gluttonous I could have saved half the sandwich for later. I am glad to have tried another wonderful Burbank business. Loved this place! My friend suggested we try a local, non franchised place to grab lunch and hadn't tried this place. We had a GREAT time! It's is a strip mall but I believe you can park in the street. The strip mall has about 20 spots so good luck but once you've parked you're in good shape. The man behind the counter was super cool, friendly and engaging! He made us feel at home with recommendations, explained different options and I felt like I had known him for years! Several customers came in and he knew them by name, joked with them about things going on in their lives and it felt like that bar in that tv show "Cheers". I just ordered a turkey sandwich which tasted good, the prices were better than Subway and, like I said, I just loved the vibe! This is a great sandwich shop! It's friendly owner and staff greeted me when I walked in the door. They were very helpful as it was my first time seeing their selection of items on their menu. The owner took the time to explain the different types of sandwiches, all custom made to order. I ended up with their most popular choice, the Korean beef sandwich with kim chi and that was right on the money! The bread was the perfect proportion of thickness to filling. The outside of the bread was crispy while the inside was soft. The meat was hot and the ingredients were fresh. The crunchiness of the kim chi with every bite made the sandwich really fun to eat. I didn't want my sandwich to end....lol The place is decorated with a mix of comics, anime and just a fun ambiance to be in while you enjoy your meal. They were also playing a variety of K-pop music which was fun and catchy too. If I could I wouldn't give it even a one star. I ordered a Korean beef sandwich a couple days ago and brought it home when I opened it I was shocked to see the amount of meat that was in the roll. Picture below! Today 5/10 I thought I'd give it another shot and went the son was working the register and took my order. I showed him the picture and told him I was very disappointed. I ordered the rice bowl thinking it comes with kimchi etc, instead it had raw cabbage, raw broccoli and raw carrots. It had absolutely no sauce and for the price it was literally 4 tablespoons of cooked rice and two tablespoons of meat!!! Came here many years ago and it was great. Was in the neighborhood and decided to try it again. Excellent service. The two ladies working that day were very friendly and professional. The inside is charming and whimsical. Reminds me of some of the cute little cafés and restaurants in K-Town. I ordered the Korean Beef special with kimchi and spicy mayo. Really fresh tasting ingredients and delicious flavors. Although it was in sandwich form, this is some of the most delicious beef Bulgogi I have ever ever had, no joke. The only reason why it didn't get five stars is because unfortunately, the filling to bread ratio was a little bit off. I don't think the portions matched the price of the sandwich. I see it as an oxymoron that a large sandwich that is made to share with someone actually ends up being super light on filling. What a yummy sandwich shop! I was craving a cold cut sandwich and didn't wanna go to the typical subway, or Jersey mikes. So this spot on Yelp and decided to try it. I was having a bad craving for a turkey and avocado sandwich so I made my way over to Submarine King. I love their French dip sandwiches, so I figured their turkey sandwiches must be good too. And I was right, it was delicious. My only wish is that it had more avocado on it. As for price, they aren't cheap. My large turkey and avocado was $14 and change but as long as you know what to expect going in, that shouldn't surprise you. There's not much going on ambience wise here. There are a few tables and chairs, but this is definitely more of a grab-and-go type of place. However, what they lack in ambiance, they make up for in service. I ordered my turkey and avocado sandwich and walked at the door with a freshly made sandwich 5 minutes later. It was delicious. Great flavors. Get it with the kimchi . I particularly liked the change from the norm of cold cuts and variation of that as can be purchased around town and from chain places. I was craving sandwiches after my little adventure in ikea. Looking for a place that served sandwiches I saw this place on yelp and decided to go here! Submarine is tucked away in a tiny strip mall off of olive st. I went inside and to my delight the whole room was buzzing! The walls were nicely decorated with comic books and art while the counter itself also had some cool action figures chilling there giving the whole room quite the comic con vibe. I looked at the menu and it seemed like it was a fusion style deli sandwich place with of course the basic sandwiches you can usually get at a deli. There were a few fusions I wanted to try as were there some originals but the basic for now is what I went with to be safe. I got the Italian cold cuts with extra cheese and pepperonicini inside with a nice green tea to wash it down with. I took a bite of that Italian sub and it did not disappoint! The main star of the sandwich in my opinion were the pickles! It was so good and sour I loved it! It made such a nice crunch after every bite and to top it off the pepperoncini gave it a nice little kick too! I really liked this place and I plan on coming back for more!
