I was excited to try Republik Coffee, but unfortunately the experience missed the mark. I ordered an iced vanilla matcha, a salted cold brew cloud, and banana bread. The first issue came when my matcha was made hot instead of iced and had to be remade. Even after the remake, it tasted like straight matcha powder and wasn't well mixed. The banana bread was served cold and wasn't warmed up, which was disappointing. What stood out most, though, was the cleanliness. As I walked into the shop around 7:30 a.m., the outdoor trash area was already overflowing. Inside, there was a trash can right next to the pickup counter that smelled bad and had visible stains all over it. For being so early in the morning, I was surprised that the trash hadn't been emptied or the area cleaned before opening. The salted cold brew cloud was decent, but overall the drinks, food, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. All the workers have been really nice and one even gave me free food one time when he saw I was headed to my retail shift. So sweet! Service is decently fast. My friend and I went on our lunch break this past week and they were quick with the drinks (it was also midday on like Tuesday so it was kind of slow). Parking can be difficult depending on the time, but there's a few parking structures nearby. I want to give this place 5 stars but my drink is so inconsistently made. The first time I went to this location a few weeks ago, I got one of the best coffees I've had in the city! 10/10 no notes. But my last two visits it was watered down and so milky. This past week I went and there was no coffee taste and it looked even lighter than chocolate milk. So disappointing bc my drink comes out to $10 ($9 + $1 tip). And I went on my limited lunch break thinking I was getting a sure thing, but I tossed it after trying to drink at least half (mission: failed). Everyone seems to love their Vietnamese coffee and I tried my friend's and that had at least a strong coffee flavor. So maybe that's the way to go for anyone thinking of coming here. This place is packed on the weekend especially this weekend because there was a fair happening. The line was long to order but I got my drinks fairly quickly. The staff member who took my order did seem very stressed due to the amount of people but she treated us decently. I ordered two drinks: one iced matcha latte and one acai smoothie. The acai smoothie was ordered by my sister and she mentioned how she did not like it at all. The iced matcha latte is the drink I ordered and it was okay. I think it was a little bit watery so I thought it was just decent. It didn't stand out too much. We came into Republik Coffee on a Wednesday evening and had a great experience overall. Service was quick and friendly, and we got our drinks just a couple minutes after ordering. They have a pretty extensive menu along with a solid assortment of pastries and candy options. This time we only opted for drinks, but we definitely plan on coming back to try more. I ordered the iced Vietnamese cold brew. It was definitely on the stronger side, and I can appreciate that it wasn't too sweet. The menu describes the Vietnamese cold brew as including coconut water, although I can't say that the coconut water flavor comes through in the drink. That being said, it wasn't exactly a flavor I would otherwise be looking for in my Vietnamese coffee so I wouldn't count that as a bad thing. Located in downtown Burbank, this coffee spot is sort of hidden to the side so be careful not to miss it. The inside is not that big but they do have a decent amount of tables to sit at. Besides coffee they offer a variety of food options as well as pastries. Service was great, extremely nice staff. I ordered a seasonal matcha drink they offered. We had to wait a few min for an open table but not too bad. The drink took longer to come out than expected. I had to make my husband go check on the status. I stopped by on a Friday around 11am. There's a parking structure in the back which is super convenient. The indoor space is small but has a handful of tables and they also offer outdoor seating. The line moved quickly and they have menus in a basket by the line so you can look over it while you wait. They sell pastries and grab-and-go items like salads, wraps, and fruit cups. I ordered the berry smoothie and it was so good! For food, my sister and I shared the chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and an almond croissant. The chilaquiles were delicious and every bite in the croissant had almond. Really nice staff and such a good spot to study or just hang out. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, which I really appreciated. Parking was also easy. I have been to this location before since I was in the area decided to stop by and get coffee. I can say that latte was really good. I really enjoyed my latte. For service, I would say the young gentleman working the register was very nice and friendly. He greeted me and was very patient while I was deciding on what to order. We came here on a weekend morning and got the dulce de leche French toast and the avocado toast. We also ordered the cardamom coffee. The coffee was very good and on the sweeter side. The Dulce de leche French toast was also good had crispy edges and fresh fruit and fresh bread. But it was probably too sweet for our tastes. The avocado toast was a little disappointing. The avocado was more like guacamole and a little more sour than I would have liked. The 7-minute egg was very small, only half a boiled egg, which is disappointing. The service was also fine. You order at the front and then sit down with the number. They brought us our food and drink. But they don't check in on you or anything. The food is more expensive like what you'd expect for a sit down with full service. For two entrees and a coffee, it was just about $45 (not including tip) so it's definitely pricy for what you get. The ambiance is very nice with high ceilings and big windows. But I don't understand why they left the door open in the morning -- the place was freezing! read more

I've come to this coffee shop in the past and all the times I've gone I've enjoyed the drinks but hated the customer service. I'm leaving this review because my sister was curious on trying their drinks. We came in around 5:40pm Friday evening (6/26) and ordered a seasonal matcha drink. We were surprised to see there was no one in line for a Friday evening. Everyone sitting down already had drinks in hand so we expected the drink to be out fairly quickly. The time I was charged was 5:47pm, my drink wasn't "ready" until 6:11pm. I'd like to reiterate the fact there was no one ordering ahead of us. As someone who's been in the food business I try and be understanding and patient when it's comes to orders. However, my sister's a barista and she pointed out our drink was sitting in a prep cup for 15 minutes while the barista was quite literally dancing around the kitchen doing side work. The other barista was also doing tasks around the cafe, not on bar. Three other people came in 15 minutes after we did and got their drinks within 5 minutes or less, and received their before me. The moment I stood up to ask about my drink to the cashier, the barista took a quick glance at me and finished the rest of the drink within a few seconds. I wish she could've done that twenty minutes prior. In short I don't usually come to this cafe, every time I return I remember why. read more

Here in downtown Burbank we have Republik, also a location in Pasadena; this cute coffee shop on the side of a small alley gives some interest but good vibes to the table. The service was pretty quick and the lady taking our order was kind enough to also give us recommendations. We ordered a cold brew with sea salt foam I believe it stated in the description and it was the best we've had! Usually we drink just plain black coffee or strong lattes but this was delicious! The decor inside is interesting, doesn't fit my style and nothing really matches each other but hey at least they have good coffee. 10/10 will be coming back for that cold brew and maybe a little sweet treat on the menu. read more

I'm reviewing specifically their matcha. I wouldn't have normally gone here, but my family was in town and already seated having their morning coffee so I decided to try their strawberry matcha cloud special, which was a strawberry matcha with a strawberry "cloud" (I assumed cold foam) on top. First off it was very expensive. Like $12 after tip, which is more than high end spots in LA. The cloud dissipated after a few minutes so it definitely wasn't cold foam and was kinda of a waste as an addition. The matcha wasn't good, definitely cheap bulk qualify. I knew the drink would disappoint me, as it's a coffee not matcha place. And it did. But at least I can say I tried it.
