A friend of mine - who is looking to move back to Burbank - and I have decided to hit as many coffee "shops" as possible in the area of Burbank / Magnolia east of Cahuenga. They have to also offer MEAL items - not just sweet rolls and pastries. So, this is what's going on in Burbank... We went to a place that didn't serve anything except a few rolls and nothing else. Would not due. At least not today. The service was unexpectedly good. The staff is very helpful and customer friendly. The ambiance is perfect for sitting by yourself, someone else or a party of four that will lounge on the sofas on the outdoor patio. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Plenty of FREE parking around the block. One of the outside areas is a lounge-y type place. Very cool. The prices are fair - considering the quality of the foods offered. The staff truly was exceptional. The cook - I believe his name is Hector - went out of his way to say hello to us and make sure we were happy with the food. Everyone. Everything. We were around the area so decided to stop by for breakfast. Avocado toast - wow was not expecting it to be so well dressed. I got my toast with scrambled eggs instead of 7 min egg and it was very tasty. Every bite was balanced in flavor and had a play on different textures. Because I was in the area, I came in for a to go coffee. The menu is extensive and involved, and they let me take a moment to peruse it and make my selection. I usually can't resist when lavender is an ingredient in coffee and this morning was no exception. After the transaction, I was able to enter my information to earn points for the purchase. I was also able to tap to pay. The barista made my coffee with care and I had the opportunity to photograph the latte art before putting the lid on it. It was a weekday morning so it wasn't too crowded but there were other customers coming in for their morning coffee. The seating area extends to outside and there are plenty of places to sit. I'm not sure if I'm being too harsh with just three stars but four stars seem to be too nice for overpriced matcha that didn't even have matcha. I ordered an iced matcha with regular whole milk and wow I guess the barista thought I just ordered milk because there was barely any matcha. Had to be that person and asked her to pour more matcha. I think she pretended not to hear me then finally she "heard me" and was nice enough to ask me if I wanted more. Idk how much milk she used but there wasn't enough matcha she can pour to take over the milk. Anyways to say I'm disappointed is an understatement because I've been looking forward to this location. Love the Pasadena location and I know the coffee and food are amazing but still pricey. At least the food is worth it. Republik served up a pretty perfect breakfast! Tucked away on a little side street in Downtown Burbank, it has a cute neighborhood feel and an adorable shaded patio that stays surprisingly cool even on a warm day. The portion was super generous with a great amount of protein: two eggs, three small sausages, avocado, pickled onions, expertly seasoned crispy rosemary potatoes, and blistered grape tomatoes. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and really satisfying. The espresso was strong and smooth, prices felt very reasonable for the portion sizes, and service was fast. Such a great little find. On the walk down the Burbank Blvd, this delightful coffee shop is located in an alley by Kalaveras and the candy shop. After looking at the photos we opted for the Pistachio Latte, Iced. 3.5** I've been here three or four times recently but forgot to review oops! Love the atmosphere here and there's plenty of seating. All the workers have been really nice and one even gave me free food one time when he saw I was headed to my retail shift. So sweet! Service is decently fast. My friend and I went on our lunch break this past week and they were quick with the drinks (it was also midday on like Tuesday so it was kind of slow). Parking can be difficult depending on the time, but there's a few parking structures nearby. I want to give this place 5 stars but my drink is so inconsistently made. The first time I went to this location a few weeks ago, I got one of the best coffees I've had in the city! 10/10 no notes. But my last two visits it was watered down and so milky. This past week I went and there was no coffee taste and it looked even lighter than chocolate milk. So disappointing bc my drink comes out to $10 ($9 + $1 tip). And I went on my limited lunch break thinking I was getting a sure thing, but I tossed it after trying to drink at least half (mission: failed). Everyone seems to love their Vietnamese coffee and I tried my friend's and that had at least a strong coffee flavor. So maybe that's the way to go for anyone thinking of coming here. This place is packed on the weekend especially this weekend because there was a fair happening. The line was long to order but I got my drinks fairly quickly. The staff member who took my order did seem very stressed due to the amount of people but she treated us decently. I ordered two drinks: one iced matcha latte and one acai smoothie. The acai smoothie was ordered by my sister and she mentioned how she did not like it at all. The iced matcha latte is the drink I ordered and it was okay. I think it was a little bit watery so I thought it was just decent. It didn't stand out too much. We came into Republik Coffee on a Wednesday evening and had a great experience overall. Service was quick and friendly, and we got our drinks just a couple minutes after ordering. They have a pretty extensive menu along with a solid assortment of pastries and candy options. This time we only opted for drinks, but we definitely plan on coming back to try more. I ordered the iced Vietnamese cold brew. It was definitely on the stronger side, and I can appreciate that it wasn't too sweet. The menu describes the Vietnamese cold brew as including coconut water, although I can't say that the coconut water flavor comes through in the drink. That being said, it wasn't exactly a flavor I would otherwise be looking for in my Vietnamese coffee so I wouldn't count that as a bad thing. Used to be our go to coffee shop and loved it every time! There are just a few reasons why we stopped going, which I'll get into in this review. MENU: I always get their almond danish, which is very yummy, and my girlfriend loves their iced oat milk purple caramel (ube) latte, as well as the vanilla one, and they had a seasonal one she liked - caramel breve, maybe? I've also tried their bottled sparkling lemonades, and loved the mango one. SEATING: There are couches with pillows that are fairly comfy, as well as chairs facing the couches with small round tables in between and stand alone square tables and bar-style seating by the windows. There are outlets by the couches, but you have to be on the end of the couch to reach them. POPULARITY: It gets quite quite busy, especially during rush hours, but normally if we wait a bit we can sit somewhere random and wait for people by the couches/outlets to leave. WFH/COWORKING: They have outlets by the couches, but you have to be on the end to reach them. Wifi is available WEEKDAYS ONLY. The PW in my image may be outdated. LOCATION: In an outdoor mall/food court in downtown Burbank with lots of restaurants. Right next to an indoor mall. We've eaten at a few of these restaurants, and there's outdoor seating if you want to stay at the mall after Republik closes. PARKING: Options galore, although it can be still hard to find parking bc it's next to a movie theater. There's 2 hr parking for $2/hr close by but that fills up fast, a few multi-leveled garages that are free for I think 3-4 hrs, and some non-covered lots that I think are 2 hrs free. If you come after like 6-7pm or on the weekends it's unlimited. STAFF: Very sweet! My gf and I used to go at least a few times a week every week, and we did that for about four months, and I'm not 100% sure if anyone actually recognized us, but everyone seems nice for the most part, if anything sometimes they seem a little bit bored (valid lol), but no one has ever been rude to me, not once. Once they took a bit long to get my food so they gave me a free second one, so sweet. MUSIC/LIVE MUSIC: Their music choices are honestly very all over the place LOL. They play a good amount of classic throwbacks, but there's been days where they've played exclusively French music (down!), or really funky music that made me wonder if they were trying to get people to leave because they were about to close lol, but maybe that's just me. They have live music pretty regularly, which is typically just an older man on a guitar, but if you're not into that and have headphones that block a lot of sound it should be fine. ATMOSPHERE: It can get warm over the summer because they leave the door open. The main reasons we switched coffee shops: Burbank is a bit of a drive for us, the heat with the open door, and we found a cafe more local to us that's more our vibe (gay and nerdy). But if you're local-ish to Burbank it's a really good option! NOTE: Pasadena location is more local to us, but we prefer Burbank because it's typically a lot easier to find seating even when it's crowded, and the parking situation in Pasadena is a bit lacking. Also, the Burbank one doesn't have a TV, and that was overstimulating in Pas for the world cup. BATHROOM: The trash can isn't next to the toilet which can be inconvenient, and the toilet oftentimes won't flush, and there aren't paper towels only a hand dryer, but it's very cute in there and not usually too too long of a wait, no code. read more

Located in downtown Burbank, this coffee spot is sort of hidden to the side so be careful not to miss it. The inside is not that big but they do have a decent amount of tables to sit at. Besides coffee they offer a variety of food options as well as pastries. Service was great, extremely nice staff. I ordered a seasonal matcha drink they offered. We had to wait a few min for an open table but not too bad. The drink took longer to come out than expected. I had to make my husband go check on the status. I ordered the berry smoothie and it was so good! For food, my sister and I shared the chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and an almond croissant. This review is based on my drink from today. It was my first time here and I asked what the most ordered or popular drink is. I was told it was the Black vanilla latte. It was just grey sweet milk. We came here on a weekend morning and got the dulce de leche French toast and the avocado toast. We also ordered the cardamom coffee. The coffee was very good and on the sweeter side. The Dulce de leche French toast was also good had crispy edges and fresh fruit and fresh bread. But it was probably too sweet for our tastes. The avocado toast was a little disappointing. The avocado was more like guacamole and a little more sour than I would have liked. The 7-minute egg was very small, only half a boiled egg, which is disappointing. The service was also fine. You order at the front and then sit down with the number. They brought us our food and drink. But they don't check in on you or anything. The food is more expensive like what you'd expect for a sit down with full service. For two entrees and a coffee, it was just about $45 (not including tip) so it's definitely pricy for what you get. I've had a couple of days where I had to kill several hours in Burbank and was looking for a coffee shop with (1) free parking, (2) food, (3) WiFi, (4) comfy places to sit. This place meets all the requirements. It was totally comfortable hanging out there all day on my laptop and the food and drinks I had were all good. The employees are also friendly. The ONLY reason I'm giving this place a 3 is that last time I went, the bathroom was FILTHY and there was no toilet paper. I'm not even kidding - it looked like the sink hadn't been cleaned in months, there was grime everywhere and even a dead cockroach, belly up on the floor. This is first thing in the morning when they opened. It had me looking around at other parts of this coffee shop like behind the counter and on the floor and I don't know what happened since last time but it was grimy. Their grab and go fridge was also nearly empty, which I thought was weird. Did something happen? Anyway, I hope they fix all that because otherwise, this is a great little place with a good menu and nice people who work there. read more

I've never had a cardamom latte and it was a great mix of flavors. The pistachio latte was on the sweeter side but didn't overpower the coffee flavor. Service was good. Even though they are open until 19:00, the kitchen closes early at 16:00. So only have drinks and pastries. I feel that they should have hours posted for the kitchen. Not good food at all The girl at a the cashier was really sweet and offered to try and fix the situation but the amount of time waiting for service at this establishment is horrid. All we ordered was a simple breakfast burrito. Adding avocado made it a "custom order". This wasn't informed to us till midway through. It took over an hour to make this food. This is unacceptable. And made me late to work. I lost money coming here. The amount of time to wait should not take this long. It would have been faster had I bought the groceries drove home and made it myself.
