Food is great but service sucks! I called in advance to pre order my 3 burritos. I was told that the food will be ready in 15 minutes. I got there after 10 minutes. I waited in line for another 10 minutes. Then when I finally got to the counter to pay for my advanced order, they had me wait for another 15 minutes since they only put my order in when I paid. I waited for a total of 45 minutes for an advanced order. When I finally got my order, I asked for salsa. The snooty white girl told me that "there's already ONE in there." - but I ordered 3 burritos. Mmmm it doesn't make sense. When she gave me 2 small cups of salsa, she rudely threw them in my brown bag and turned around. This is the first time and probably the last time I will get food from Larry's. This place has both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating area kind of looked like a diner, with checkered tiled flooring and big red booths. I got the chili cheese dog and upgraded the fries to chili cheese fries. It came with a Dr. Pepper as well. I don't recall exactly what I paid, but it was under $20. The Chili Cheese Dog was good. There was a nice snap to it. The chili was pretty good as well. The fries were great. They were seasoned well and crispy. The chili cheese took the fries to the next level. I love squeezing the juices of the peppers onto the chili cheese fries to add a kick. I dip them in ketchup to help with that kick as well. I loved taking pictures of their cool sign. I like this place. The chili cheese dog was quite tasty, with appropriately thin chili and plenty of melty cheese. The fries were good as well, and the hot peppers I asked for added plenty of zing which I crave with food like this. Out the door - $13 or so for the combo with fries and a soda, which is not exactly cheap, but I see this sort of thing as an occasional splurge anyway. I have been going to Larry's for over 10 years and today after picking up my son we went over to pick up sliders and Larry's as we always do. Today before ordering I asked if we could use the bathroom as my son is a toddler and it's hard for them to hold it for long period and we were also walking home. Inside its good but poured on it's a bit one dimensional. Chili cheese dog - Solid choice. Very on point with other chili dogs. The chili itself is very light in flavor but has that consistency. It's also not laden with grease like most spots. The recipe is decades old but I feel it could use a little more spice or other flavor profile. But its on point and goes well. Corn Dog - Fried perfectly. The dog inside is large but feels like a chicken and pork dog. Its tasty and good. Chili Cheese Fries - The fries are well seasoned. Topped with copious chili and cheese. This place has been around for a long time and I finally decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a lot of available street parking. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. The shop itself has a cool old school vibe. The inside has a nice design and comfortable seating. Now on to the food. The prices are really good and they have a lot of options. We got 2 bacon wrapped dogs, the street dog, the chili cheese dog, a fountain drink and a red Gatorade. Overall price was $33. Everything tasted good but I was a little disappointed in the chili cheese dog. The chillin didn't have much flavor and was bland. Larry's is a Burbank staple. A landmark of some sort. I've been coming here for many, many years. My guess is that my first visit may have been 30+ years ago with my Pops when I was a young boy. My most recent visit was in the early morning while my car was getting some work done across the street. I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage. It was absolutely delicious. It is served with two hot sauces, one red and one green. I also ordered an Orange Juice, which was delicious. The lady at the order window is very nice and welcoming. The customers are usually pleasant and happy to be there. It's always fun to see some out of towners stopping in for a bite and expressing their excitement for "finally getting to eat at Larry's" and taking a pic of the legendary sign. Order at the outside window and they give you number to pick up. Got the following: - Chili cheese dogs ×2, one with cheese and one without - 7/10: if you order it with everything, you get it with raw onions and mustard. The hot dog was on the smaller side, but I love the fixings on it and the irony is that the hot dog was very filling. Next time I need to get a side of chili and just put that on everything. Just about every bite you taste everything in the burrito and it doesn't leak all over you from grease. It can be a little busy so it might take a while to get your order but for me it's worth the wait. It's a walk up window to order and they have some seating outside. Got the chance to try Larry's yesterday for lunch for my first time, and I already am eager to go back. Easily one of the better chilies that I have had in Los Angeles, which is a town that really loves their chili. It's a really small takeout only type of place, and the only downside I saw was that it closes early at 3PM because I saw multiple people walk up after closing and then had to do the slow, sad walk back to the car without their food. They have all the diner classics on the menu, but are most known for their chili dogs. We were able to find a parking spot a few feet away and decided that we had to try the chili cheese dogs and also the patty melt. Both were absolutely fantastic. The chili is very mild, but extremely flavorful, and the patty melt was perfectly crispy, and the addition of avocado really made it. The food came out extremely fast and the portion sizes and prices are very agreeable. I definitely would recommend and definitely will be back in the near future. read more
