Jumbo beef dog!
Gilbert R.

Best hot dog stand around. Hands down. These dogs are beefy, meaty, and the prices are great. Reminds me of the street dog vendors over in Manhattan! How good is it? Just put it this way: I go to this stand even when I don't have any reason to go to Home Depot! Love the jumbo dog! You can get it with onions, relish and your standard condiments. They serve polish dogs, too, which are equally as delicious. Chips and canned drinks are available as well. There are a few tables there to scarf your meal down, and it's under a shaded tent. It's nice place to sit and eat after you're finished with your Home Depot fix!

Hmmm. What are their hot dogs made from?
Michael M.

I walk past this place every time I go to Home Depot and weight whether or not I will succumb and grab a hot dog on my way out. Temptation usually wins and I find myself wolfing one down in my car in the parking lot. I usually go for the big version and slather it with mustard and onions. I have to say for a cart in a parking lot, they are pretty darn good. Sometimes I spice it up with the Polish sausage but you can't beat the basic original. It really hits the hot dog spot. And the guy who runs it is always cheerful.

Dining area very clean and shaded!!!!

Best hot dogs and sausages. If you're in the area you must have one. You will come back for more.

I've been coming here to eat hot dogs as a kid for over the past 15 years now. Anytime I crave a hot dog Hot Dog Depot is the spot I go to. Their jumbo turkey hot dog chip and drink combo is the best and always satisfies every time I have a craving. I literally drive across town to Home Depot just for the hot dog. Quick and easy and simple. No complaints whatsoever so ever. My girlfriend used to not like hotdogs and once I took her here her whole taste buds changed and now she is obsessed.

Hot dog stand by Home Depot in Glendale. Prices are fair, remind me of the hot dog stands in New York. They have drinks and chips as well. They can add onion, tomato, relish - all your fav condiments. It's really quick when you come here for a snack. I love this place

Greatest hot dogs in LA. Great service, and the best reason to go to Home Depot! Usually I will walk away from a place when I find out it's Cash only, but I will intentionally get cash back just to eat here.

right outside of the exit, great place for a quick and fast hot dog. the toppings choices are great: mayo , ketchup, relish, mustard, hot mustard, onions.

Jumbo!!!

The best hot dogs in town!! The service is great and the environment is very clean. Definitely recommend if you're stopping by. Get the jumbo!!

Comes with tomato, onion, and jalapeño if you'd like

If you were one of those people who were outraged when Costco stopped selling polish dogs, fear no more. My Dad used to take us here as kids when we would moan and groan about having to go to Home Depot with him. I remember the dogs being so good. Well, today my husband and I had to stop by Home Depot and headed over to Glendale, my old stomping grounds. As we walked in past the stand I told him 'that place has the best hot dogs.' My husband didn't believe me but we had cash on us so I decided to prove him wrong. Ordered a polish dog for 5 bucks. It came with onion, tomato, jalapeño and choice of condiments. We added ketchup and mustard. I stand firm, the best polish dog around. Husband said he wants to try the pastrami next. So for your future Home Depot runs, come hungry.

BEST kept secret in LA! Don't waste your "dog money" elsewhere! Nice people and a solid Dog served with a smile!

Wax Paper - San Julian & Larry Mantle

We've been biking on the LA river trail, and we always try to find a new restaurant to frequent…read more Well, once we discovered Wax Paper, that got harder because we always want to eat their sandwiches for lunch. We've tried the Ian Glass (added protein) and the Larry Mantle, and a friend got the Terry Gross. We've also tried the sides Mr. Beans and the Aloha Pasta Salat. Everything has been so good and so fresh! My fav is the Ian Glass by far! It was so good and so filling. The price is pretty fair for a solid sandwich with good ingredients. Service is quick and easy, no frills. You stand in line, order, and then wait. You cannot and should not go back in line to check on the status of your order. When they're ready for you, you'll know. There are a few tables outside, so grab a seat and enjoy your sandwich! Tip: order online for pick up if you're short on time! But if you're really short on time, this probably isn't the place to go for you. Since we've biked here, I don't have any experience with street parking, but since it's in a residential area, it always looks full. So be aware of street parking! You may need to circle around a few times.

Beyond a laugh, the grab-and-go sandwiches have earned praise from news outlets including Eater and the Los Angeles Times, and Wax Paper has expanded to a second location in Chinatown. Wax Paper makes it home within a repurposed shipping crate. A watermelon pink-and-green striped sign is one of the few markers for the otherwise hidden storefront. The interior has been off-limits since COVID, but you can grab a seat at the adjacent canopied patio. Narrow wooden benches are pressed up tightly to rickety tables. The low buzz of side street traffic intermittently interrupts conversation. My fiancee and I arrived for early weekend lunch and placed the day's first in-person order. Some 30 minutes later, we received a text that our food was ready. Of our sandwiches, we preferred the Garth Trinidad. The citrusy slaw and sliced almonds made a statement, even if the sliced turkey occasionally dominated the flavor profile. Meanwhile, the Larry Mantle, Wax Paper's take on an Italian hero, featured premium meats and breads; however, the sum was, frankly, forgettable. The cold cut meats and spicy aioli were drowned out by a sea of shredded lettuce and the all-fluff sesame roll. Lastly, the Aloha Pasta Salad took Hawaiian pizza toppings and mixed them into a mayo-heavy pasta salad; the result was a dud. The service was molasses-slow -- our order (the first of the day and all cold items) still took half an hour. Further, at nearly $50, the prices were eyebrow-raising. Compared to California sandwich staple Mendocino Farms, Wax Paper's was pricier and less palatable. I don't anticipate paying Wax Paper a visit again.

I hunted a bit before tracking down a spot and paying the meter. I have not been to Dune before, but the value of the lunch special along with the promise of a fried chicken shawarma, coupled with unexpected free time, sounded like a promising moment to stop by. Walked up to the window and after no acknowledgement, I peaked inside the door and asked whether I place an order at the counter or wait to be seated. When I tell you the jarring elder Gen Z stare and incredibly unfriendly direction to sit on the bench and wait my turn (in the literal sense that I was told to sit on the bench and wait my turn. There was only a party of 2 seated at the bench and no line to speak of) made me regret coming out to eat entirely. I'm not lying when I say I thought about leaving immediately and driving home in my air conditioned car instead of sitting on a hot bench in nearly 100 degree weather with no acknowledgement of party size, no offer for a drink or water while I wait, and just existing in my bizarre humiliation ritual for having asked what the procedure is here for any kind of recognition of my interest in dining or simply existing. And yes, after sitting down I saw there is a small low contrast sign on a post stating to sit on the bench and wait, but it is positioned parallel to the counter window and only when turning away from the glass toward the seating area was it placed in a way that I would see it. Not very useful for someone who is walking up or down the sidewalk as it's not visible. I held my breath for about 10 minutes before being asked my party size (one) and seated at a shaded table. I regretted my choice to dine out the entire wait time for the table, while ordering and then being required to pay upfront before my meal was even presented to me, while seated awaiting my order, while my food (loaded fries, fried chicken shawarma, date shake and an added unsweetened iced green mint tea) was dumped at once on the table in front of me, while eating feeling humiliated for existing inside human skin, and again when having to walk to the window and ask for a to-go box. I felt like a massive inconvenience for the staff and fully regretted bothering them every step of the way for normal things like a Dine LA menu which was not initially offered, adding an iced tea to my order, existing in a metal folding chair and generally taking up space. I don't like being treated like a turd by people, and certainly don't want to be treated this way when I'm paying for a service. But after the initial flubbed interactions, demanding payment with tip upfront before receiving any kind of service was rendered, and then dumping my food at the table without ceremony, it's truly no wonder why the LA restaurant scene is dying. Between poorly trained staff, rising costs in rent and utilities, the outrageous cost of staffing and the fact that eating at a restaurant is completely unnecessary when cutting household expenses, restaurants are disappearing left and right. Some of the foods I still dream about are lost forever to closure after closure. Customers being treated like they're inconsequential isn't the only reason people like me usually choose to dine at home, and it's not the only reason restaurants are disappearing. But it's one of the only controllable elements in a world of runaway hospitality expenses. Customers deserve even a modicum of respect if restaurants are going to survive. $48 for the meal including tax and tip. More than enough food for lunch, I took home half. Loaded steak fries / wish they were served with a whipped feta or dipping sauce instead of ketchup but they're good. Generous portion of steak. 9/10 Fried chicken shawarma / fun idea, execution made it difficult to pick up to eat. Serving in a metal basket made it impossible to cut in half since there was not a solid surface to cut against. Flavor is yummy, wish those middle eastern flavors were more prominent in the batter but the chicken is extra crispy. Enjoyable. 8/10 Date shake / luxurious, creamy, flavorful. No notes. 10/10 Unsweetened green mint iced tea / overpriced, underdelivered. I'd skip it unless you're parched. 5/10 **written without the assistance of AI**

It was getting late, so while I waited for the kid in the car at their activity, I went on The Heights website found an order form and placed an order for some sammies all in 5 minutes. I didn't even ask the hubs or the vegetarian kid what they wanted. I went with what I thought they'd like. 15-minutes later, I was picking the sandwiches up at the walk-in only shop. There was no line and better yet, they were wrapped up and ready to go when I walked in. The smiling lady asked if I wanted napkins or utensils. They have case after case of cold drinks so we picked out a couple of drinks, paid for those and left. It was easy and fast. Enjoyed the yumminess at home. I normally would save a half for another meal but my "Pasadena" hit the spot that I finished it up all at once. Quality bread, meats, cheese, fillings aka all the ingredients...to boot! PS the kid loved theirs and so did the hub. Thanks for making dinner: easy and delicious! There are no pictures because it was too delicious to take the time out and take any. Just order.

(Which is even weirder considering all the outdoor tables are covered in mold and have been for years.) He had the nerve to say we are still welcome while essentially calling us all bad parents. Extremely unprofessional and so unnerving to be followed out to your car as a woman by an owner of a business. Our group has never had this kind of treatment when we've been out at restaurants. This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!
