Nothing groundbreaking, but EXACTLY what you're looking for in a classic diner in LA. Good menu options, my waffle combo was exactly as expected. (Took a photo of my sides and then got too excited to eat and forgot a picture of the waffle!) Our server, Mark, was super quick. What happened here? I remember Patys being somewhat decent, but it's been a few years. My friend and I met up for lunch today, but didn't know we'd have to share our booth with a party of flies. What should have been a nice, relaxing lunch to catch up with a friend ended up being a stressful lunch having to either shoo away the flies or try to swat them throughout the entire visit The little fan on the table did not help. As for the food, we both asked for our fries to be crispy/well done, and neither of ours were. My tuna melt was on soggy toast, too. At least the iced tea was acceptable. Pretty sad. read more

Heartbreaking.  That's the only word for it.  Let me say that Paty's is a decent coffee shop.  The food is good, the service is good, the parking is easy.  It's clean and has a nice assortment of items on the menu.  Would I eat there again? Sure if standard above the average coffee shop fare is what I wanted and was in the area.  Vastly superior to any of the well known chains. The heartbreaking part,this is the first time I've been there since the late 60's. Back then Paty's was absolutely amazing.  Once seated you would receive a small loaf of bread with a small bread knife, butter, etc.  you would also receive a fruit cup.  And the food was delicious, well beyond the typical coffee shop.   My friends and I often speculated it was a money laundering front for organized crime as there was no way we were being served the quantity and quality of food for the  price.  Those days are gone. Now it's just a typical coffee shop.  As my 20 something daughter said when we left, "it's fine."  After I told her all the wonderful things about Paty's. I went in and ordered to go at the register. 2 Patty melts, one rare, one medium rare. A slice of apple pie. When we opened them, both WELL DONE. Marie the manager insisted she checked both and they were rare , see photos. These could not have cooled themselves on the ride home to well done. They've lost a 45 year costumer. I've been coming to Patty's Restaurant for many years. My son was only 4 years old when we first started coming here, and now he is 22! This restaurant has been part of our lives for a long time, so it honestly makes me sad to write this review. I understand that prices have gone up everywhere, and I don't mind paying more when the quality of the food is still good. Unfortunately, I feel like the food quality here has gotten worse recently. The last time my son and I came, our meal for two people was almost $100 with the tip. On top of that, a very small container of orange juice was $5.99, which felt extremely expensive. Today, we came back hoping things would be better, but unfortunately the bacon was completely burned, just like the last time. I'm really disappointed because I have so many good memories of this restaurant. When I compare the food to other restaurants nearby, I feel that there are now places serving better-quality food for a more reasonable price. It makes me sad to say this, but after being a loyal customer for so many years, I may not be coming back. Met with a friend for lunch at Patys and had a delightful time. There is plenty of free parking in the back behind the building. Walking up I noticed plenty of shaded outside seating that was being cooled by a misting. We sat inside in a booth and all the staff was so friendly. On the surrounding walls I noticed photos that were signed by actors and actresses which was really cool. To eat I got the Firehouse 86 Special which is a chicken sandwich on sourdough with bacon, jalapeños, avocado, grilled onion, and Swiss. The sandwich was delicious and perfectly toasted. I love spicy and this could have been spicier but I loved the little kicks at the end of each bite. I asked for fries on the side and the fries were perfect, lightly crunchy with a soft inner bite. I can tell Patys is a local favorite because there were so many people dining in and everyone was happy and friendly saying hi to eachother. This cute mom-and-pop-style restaurant is located in Toluca Lake. The menu is huge. They have a variety of food options to try. they eve have healthy stuff too. I tried the turkey with stuffing and it was good. The chili and pie I had were just ok. The apple pie was very very sweet. And the chili flavor was just decent. Overall the place is a nice place to eat. Service by the manager was outstanding. She made sure I got everything I wanted and was very delightful. They have a parking lot for customers in the rear of the restaurant. Small indoor seating but plenty of outside seating . I've driven by Patys many times over the years. Rushing on the way to set @Disney or Warner Brothers or a fitting across the street. And I've always made a mental note to stop in and we finally did today and it didn't disappoint! Parking was easy pezzzy, in the parking lot directly behind the dinner, sandwiches by the 134 fwy. We sat in the wrap around patio on a sunny winters day. My husband ordered a chicken patty and hash and I, a vegan Cobb salad! So many vegan options and meat substitutes! Thank you, it's amazing. Both dishes arrived quickly, and were delicious, straight forward diner style. Love that! You don't find many diners around LA with healthy vegan options. I appreciate that! The price point for the two of us, my husband appreciated: It's 2x the cost at any adjacent local restaurant for lunch. The service was friendly and all the lil doggos sitting on the patio were cutie pies and relaxed. A welcoming, local neighborhood vibes. Patys! A Toluca Lake, Los Angeles must located on Riverside Drive just a beat away from Burbank off the 134 Fwy. They have parking in the rear off Clybourn Avenue as well as a lot of street parking. You can enjoy their outer covered patio as well as their patio patio when weather permits. Popped in on a rainy day after setting up for an event at night with my friend Shaun and realized I hadn't been to Patys in years and shown them the love they deserved. Patys offers a variety of American dinner style comfort food including some choice healthier options, gluten free options, plenty of vegetarian and an extensive amount of vegan eats including their Vegan Chicken Salad, Vegan 'Chicken' Tacos, Vegan "Chicken" Sandwich, Impossible Burger Melt (hold the cheese), several sides and starters. Most can enjoy their Sandwiches, Salads, Soups, Tacos, Entrees, Chilis, Lunch section, huge Breakfast section and Favorites. I don't believe any of the Breakfast items are plant-based, several vegetarian by default, but do know that you can get creative and they will accommodate. They do offer gluten free French Toast or Pancakes where applicable and it even says so right on their menu :) It's always five star service from the moment you walk in. You can enjoy classic booth, classic counter or classic table seating. Great lighting, tvs in their corners and loads of pictures from/of Hollywood legends. Expect touches of seasonal fun around holidays and various times of year as well as general full case of pies, pastries or desserts near the main counter in a nice display case. Patys has an extensive beverage menu with all the musts, from juice, coffee and tea to water variety, soft drinks (fancy speak for soda), milks (including almond), lemonade, beers, wines and other favorites. Open from 8am to 9pm, rain or shine all seven days of the week. Delivery, takeout and of course dine in, which is my top recommend. Pup friendly. Family friendly. Solid Wi-Fi (ask your server). This place is absolutely terrible. They can't even follow simple instructions. I specifically ordered a plain chicken quesadilla, yet somehow they managed to load it with everything I didn't ask for, including bell peppers and onions. To make matters worse, the guacamole on the side was completely bland. No salt, no seasoning, no flavor whatsoever. Unfortunately, I'm stuck ordering from this place once a month because my company includes it in our office lunch orders. If it were up to me, I wouldn't go anywhere within 10 miles of this restaurant. It's really not that difficult to follow basic instructions and serve food that actually tastes good. I feel like I've been here once many moons ago. After a hike, trying to figure out someplace for a meal is always a hassle. This wasn't our original plan but as we were walking to what was supposed to be the place. We saw Patys and said what the heck. The outdoor patio looked nice so we walked in. Very sweet which is always a nice thing. For the menu, they pretty much had everything on there. Classic sandwiches, salads to dinners and breakfast. Started off with a nice cold beer after the hike. Food wise, the Cobb salad. There was plenty of grilled chicken on top the mix greens with bacon bits, crumbled blue cheese, avocado slices, and a hard boil egg. Also the tuna melt with a side of fruit. And one of the classic breakfast. Eggs, bacon and a stack of pancakes. Not to outdo the meal but a side of onion rings was also needed. Food wise, it's your traditional diner meal. Didn't take long to arrive. There's nothing fancy to it. Basic Cobb salad, but plenty of grilled chicken. Then the tuna melt, it was basic but did the trick. Breakfast, that was nice. Plenty of bacon slices which were really nice. And the pancakes, nice and fluffy. You can't go wrong with breakfast unless someone ruins it. But the meal, it did the trick. They did have a nice counter with amazing pies and dessert which we didn't have room for. Beware of the flies! My husband and I have been coming to Patys as weekly regulars for almost 4 years now. The wait staff recognizes us, the food is always good, but they recently in the last two months have had a fruit fly infestation. We had the worst of it this morning, about 10-15 fruit flies were swirling around our table...we had to swat them away between bites of food. Please fix this, because this has become so bad that we almost don't want to eat here anymore. Also bring back the Vegan chicken...it created so many more options for us to eat! read more

I liked the decor with old photos of celebrities visiting the diner. There's a display case of desserts up front which is very tempting and they all looked delicious. My husband loved his chorizo with scrambled eggs and even though I ordered a standard breakfast, it was hot and cooked well with crispy bacon. Years and years ago, a friend and I would come to this place ALL the time. I'm obsessed with the fact that they have bran muffins. They have a ton of gluten free options, which was the appeal back then. Today, I came back with my boyfriend and can confirm it is still awesome!! I got the build your own breakfast burrito and practically inhaled the thing. I don't think my iced latte was anything to write home about, but my boyfriend enjoyed his! The food was great, the service was incredible! For a busy spot, I never felt overlooked. Servers all made sure we had what we needed. Such a fun spot. I LOVE this restaurant so much that I have done few reviews/ updates on Patys. Their service, food , maintenance, is always a plus! Can't get enough of this ICONIC place. It definitely is a staple in my heart. Restaurant is CLEAN, with booths/counter top seating with celebrity photos on the walls. Lots of familiar faces too. Patys offers variety; vast, extensive menu options from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner with consistency & friendly service! They have so many options of food with great, generous, portions that you really don't know what to eat? Depending on my mood & craving, that is what I will order. I have tried a lot of their menu options over the years and love everything that I have had. Also, including their beverages of every kind. From hot to cold, to shakes, to soda, lemonade, iced tea...just to name a few. Let me not forget to say that in between all the updates that I have done on this lovely restaurant, I frequented there numerous times, but didn't write a review. This time this review is based on our Thanksgiving Holiday meal. We have had Thanksgiving at Patys few years back, & it was much better than this time around. We ordered their Thanksgiving Dinner that came with tender white meat, salad, mixed veggies; corn, green beans, & broccoli; with a side order of either mashed potatoes or yams. We opted for yams. Great portions, affordable prices. Food was good and hot. Thanksgiving meal was $21.99 a penny less of being $22.00. They didn't have pumpkin or sweet potato pie. NO PIE ON THANKSGIVING?? However, the fridge is full of pies and the day of the holiday it was kind of empty. Edson R, gave us a prompt, great service with a nice smile. Being new to the addition of their great employees, he was good. Although, he forgot to bring the cranberry sauce which came with the meal. I had reminded him once. I don't understand why they said on the phone that they did offer dark meat when they didn't. I like DARK MEAT!! Jessica, is a jewel.The best manager that Patys ever had. On the other hand their GM Maria was NOT! Great, chill ambiance with nice patio seating all around the restaurant and overall this time was a LACKLUSTER!! Ample parking in the back and 2 clean restrooms! Restaurant was open until 3pm due to the Holiday hours. Normally closes at 9pm. Didn't take any photos, because there was no need. Our server Nicole was super-friendly and attentive. I tried the sea bass with rice pilaf and vegetable sides. Very delicious. I don't normally post reviews but after today, I refuse to return to this establishment after my first time experience today. I watched a waitress take someone else's order after my friend and I had been sitting for 20 minutes. When we sat down we ordered our drinks and they brought out lukewarm orange juice ($6 a cup with no refills too btw). Three different workers interacted with us (the host, the man who placed our forks down, and a waiter who brought us drinks) and after 20 minutes and no interaction with the waitress we finally decided to leave. The breaking point was when I watched an older man get seated and within the first five minutes of his arrival, his drink was given to him and his order was taken. At that point we'd been waiting without our order taken. It wasn't until we spoke to the man who initially placed our forks down and let him know that we were just taking our drinks to-go that she came out to take our order and apologized. She claimed there was a spill in the kitchen and as my friend and I left, we were approached by the manager about why we were leaving. At that point I was hungry and ready to leave. I'm leaving this review here so that this establishment reflects on their treatment of customers who may not fit their usual clientele. read more

First time I've been to Paty's in years. They've cleaned it up and it looks pretty. But the food is atrocious and the service was mediocre. I ordered the turkey dinner first it came after a 20 minute wait from the salad being delivered before they brought the main course, with a gelatinous, mess of yellow gravy covering every inch of the plate. I politely asked the server if I could get it with gravy on the side as this was inedible. After a few more minutes, she did bring it back and let's just say everything was just blah. Parts were bland and parts were just awful. I ate part of it and just stopped. I guess I should've sent it back again and got a sandwich but I didn't wanna bother the server as she's not the one that cooked it. Let's just say maybe time to avoid this place. read more
