It's high time I reviewed this place. It is the go-to spot for a friend of mine and myself, who try come every few months or so. We've been doing that for a few years now, so that should tell you something right there. Our order is fairly consistent: we each start with a mimosa that comes in a highball glass, so one is usually all we need. Next, we share an order of kimchi biscuits (you get two). So delicious! Packed full of kimchi, bacon and cheddar cheese, it's a nice combo of flavors that play well together. The interior is usually soft and warm, with a nice crunchy crust. Top that with a smatter of the cinnamon butter that it comes with...yum! Our choice of entree varies, anything from avocado toast, to their kale and seaweed salad or any of their other selections they have from their brunch/lunch menu. On this outing, my friend and I both opted for the bibimbap. I opted for the pork bulgogi while my friend got the chicken version. It comes with a generous amount of carrots, zucchini, shiitake mushrooms and bean sprouts, and is topped with a runny, sunny side up egg that serves as an excellent sauce when you mix everything together, along with the gochujang sauce. We upgraded and got it with brown rice in the hot stone bowl. Worth it! The regular bibimbap is good, but when you mix in the crunchy crust that comes from the bottom of the stone bowl, you get an additional texture that makes the dish really stand out. The flavors already come together nicely, and the crunchy bits just enhance the experience. For dessert, we like to share the "lemon pie", which is actually a scoop of lemon gelato that comes in a glass that also includes graham crackers, topped with toasted marshmallows. A nice way to end the meal. And the staff! We usually either have Justin or Ann as our server, but everyone there is super friendly and helpful. They are consistently good at checking up on you and making sure you have everything you need. Just another 5 star reason of why we keep coming back! read more

This is a spot I would like to revisit. Overall a really nice experience. Food: -Galbi Burger ($17): 5/5; easily one of the best burgers I've had. I wasn't expecting it to taste this good. The buns were soft, and the patty was big, juicy, and packed with sweet-and-savory flavor. - 3 Cajun Jumbo Shrimp Tacos ($15.5): 4/5; each taco comes with two shrimps. The shrimp is fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The galbi kabob was well marinated and not too sweet which I like--very unique for a kabob, I recommend it. Another meal was had. Obviously it's also a simple yes whenever brunch arises. It's our go to for an easy decision and to top it off, the food and mimosas makes it even better. It's basically coming to see friends who have become somewhat of family. Michael, Justin and Ann all have hearts of gold. Seeing their faces whenever we come alway makes the experience better. The favorite of course, the honey fried chicken meal with Cole slaws. Nice juicy meal and the crunch level is great. Drizzle with honey, the extra touch. Each order has alway been amazing. We also had the smoked salmon avocado toast with a side salad. That's another regular dish that's alway been a hit. But the main reason, the mimosas. Not in your regular champagne flutes but in pint glass. Let's just say we normally could do 2 and that's enough. For the price, it's well worth it. Food has alway been great. The restaurant itself is cute. Not overly big but decent. Nice patio seating along the sidewalk and two tables on the main patio. Inside, there's a communal hi top table right in the middle with a good amount of tables on both side. Michael, Justin and Ann are the sweetest. We crave this place during our visits to LA! We've gone to this restaurant two times now and both times were an absolute hit. Location is on a Broadway with several store fronts including Hungry Crowd, on the street. Parking can be a little tough since it's street parking. We had to go and park in a close neighborhood which looked really nice and had some cool Christmas lights up. The restaurants itself is fairly small (and the bathroom even smaller, practically kissing the wall with my knees) but the service is always fantastic. We came around 5pm when they opened in the evening and there was no wait and we got seated promptly. The place filled up rather quickly but it didn't slow down how fast our service was since the owners and other employees took our order and proceeded to check up on us as we ate our food. I usually like to get their breakfast menu, (such as their Kimichi Biscuits or their Breakfast Burrito) but since we arrived later in the day we ordered the Mac and Cheese, Galbi Burger, Risotto, and the Truffle Honey Fried Chicken. All were excellent and tasted great. During our first visit we had a really good interaction with the owners but didn't really speak to them too much this time around since they seemed to be busy and were probably winding down for the Christmas break. This is a nice Korean fusion restaurant right in Toluca Lake. There wasn't really a crowd during lunch time on a Tuesday but parking can be a bit tough to find. Service was great. Our server was friendly and regularly checked in with us. As for the food, there were so many items I wanted to try off their menu but I ended up ordering their Korean Bulgogi Taco and Bibibamp with hot stone this time. Both were solid 5/5s. Easily the best restaurant in Toluca Lake. I've been here for brunch and dinner several times and have always left satisfied. The blend of Korean and Americans is addicting, I've never had anything like it before. The absolute highlight for me is their gravy. Whether on the Loco Moco or their Kimchi Biscuits, I cannot get enough. The Kimchi Fried Rice is excellent as well. When I'm looking for something healthy, the Bibimbap in the hot stone bowl is amazing. I love how the rice gets toasted at the bottom of the bowl. What a nice, delicious discovery! While there's a lot of choices on on Riverside Dr in Studio City, Hungry Crowd is one of the more interesting, unique restaurants there. A blend of mostly Korean and American cuisine, you get the classic dishes like Bibimbap, as well as fusion twists like Kimchi Biscuit and Eggs Benedict with Bulgogi. Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of the Kimchi Biscuit, but I have to say that this shareable appetizer is a must have and my favorite fish that we had! It's a surprisingly complex blend of that Kimchi pickled tartness and sweetness from the cinnamon butter, along with some savoriness from the bacon and cheddar. It almost sounds like it shouldn't work, but it's nonetheless delicious! The Eggs Benedict is also a very nice blend of Eastern and Western flavors that work together rather than compete with each other. The Garlic Edamame with Garlic soy is pretty solid but not as big of a wow factor as the other dishes. Lastly, the Bibimbap is pretty good, but I think it's the least memorable. I want to say that I have had better versions of the dish at a more traditional Korean restaurant, so if anything, I'd explore the more fusion side of the menu here at Hungry Crowd next time. read more

They prepare and cook their food well and the service is always great. They also have outdoor seating available on the street, but the inside is nicely decorated as well. During my last visit, I ordered the tofu bibimbap in a hot stone. I realized afterwards that I made a mistake in not mixing together the bowl and moving things around immediately because all the brown rice at the bottom became burnt and dry. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Also be aware that parking in this area is quite tricky, so give yourself ample time to look for street parking in the side streets. read more

First time here but not the last. Tried the Kimchi biscuits, fried dumplings and Bulgogi Tacos. Kimchi biscuits were good. Not a heavy spicy presence but a subtle flavor. A lot going on in the biscuit, with cheese, bacon, spices and Kim Chee. It was airy and had a nice bite to it. Not dry or crumbly. It was served with cinnamon butter which seemed odd but it was a pleasant combination. Fried dumplings were delicious. Perfectly crunchy without being overdone. They came out piping hot but even cold they were flavorful. I asked our fantastic server Justin, if he preferred the loco moco or tacos. Since I ordered the appetizers he said go with the tacos because they were smaller. Bulgogi was delicious and tender. The tortilla was very flimsy. I think I would have been better off with lettuce wrap. MAYBE next time I'll ask them to fry the "tortilla" and make it a crunchy bulgogi taco! There was outdoor seating. I have been going to Hungry Crowd for a few years now and it's become one of my favorite places to eat when I'm up near Burbank & Studio City. The main street that it's on is a bit short on parking, but you can usually find a spot nearby in one of the neighborhood streets if you don't mind walking a bit. The restaurant itself is fairly small, but there's indoor and outdoor seating to choose from and even when busy I've always managed to get a table. The actual space of the restaurant is clean and stylish, making it a perfect spot for all occasions. Still, the food is what really shines here. Their menu has so many tasty options, many with a Korean-American fusion. While I have my favorites (their Fried Chicken Sliders & Japchae w Bulgogi), everything I've tried from them has never disappointed. Their food is always flavorful and fresh and there are just so many dishes that you re not going to find at a lot of places nearby. On my most recent visit we ate off their brunch menu and I absolutely loved their fried chicken and waffle I ordered. Truthfully you could order anything off their menu and not go wrong. To top it all off their service has always been friendly and welcoming! We've been coming back for a while now and we've always felt they appreciate and value their return customers. Everyone we had contact with was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is nice with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is fusion American and Korean cuisine. Very interesting combinations are made here. I loved their dirty fries that were topped with bulgogi and white cheddar cheese. So yummmm ... the wings were ok but the dumplings were delicious. The Caesar salad was average, next time I won't ask for chicken on top. I ordered a raspberry lemonade on a hot day and it was perfect. I've tried their bibimbap, galbi burger, kimchi friend rice, and their kimchi biscuits... everything was so freaking good. I can't recommend this place enough. Parking is limited. There's a lot in the back dedicated for Trader Joe's customers but it's usually full. You may get lucky with street parking. Besides that, service was great. We were checked on multiple times and had our drinks refilled without even asking. Also, their bathroom has a motion sensor flush. Super cool! read more

Met another couple for lunch on a Sunday. There is a Trader Joe's a few doors down, and a farmer's market across the street from the restaurant, so parking was fairly difficult. We had reservations but they weren't too crowded. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was good but nothing that I could get too excited about. We started with the kimchi biscuits, which were good. They came with a cinnamon butter, which strangely was very good with the savory biscuit. I had their soft shell crab sandwich which had a nice serving of crab and a sort of Bahn mi pickled vegetable. It was good, but it didn't really taste like much except the sauces. The crab was well cooked and crunchy, so maybe I should have deconstructed it so I could have really appreciated the crab. Came with a little side salad (which I chose instead of fries.) Two people got the Galbi burger (which is why we originally chose this restaurant) and they both enjoyed them. Fries were average. And the 4th had honey truffle fried chicken, which looked very good. What a unique restaurant! The food was delicious! The service was outstanding! Our Server was very new to working there. However, she was so attentive and so sweet that I actually thought she was the owner! All the servers work together as a team checking back with us to make sure everything was just right. The Vibe is casual. We decided to eat outside where they have tables and umbrellas. What else could you ask for? The menu has so many different choices that even the pickiest of eaters can find something good to eat. Parking can be a bit challenging especially at the peak of lunchtime. They also have some parking spots behind the restaurant and I lucked out and got one. My friend had the bibimbap bowl which I tried and that was phenomenal! I ordered a Cobb salad without the onions and no Bleu Cheese. It was so fresh and delicious. I opted for a lighter dressing. This was such an amazing hidden gem! I came to stay with a friend in North Hollywood and we wanted to grab brunch somewhere before I left, so we found this place only 5 minutes away. It was pretty packed but there were still some empty tables so we got seated right away, which was nice because we came on a Sunday morning and expected it to be really busy. It was lively inside where we were seated, but the outside patio was also a nice option with a view of the street. It was right by the farmers market and Trader Joes so overall was a perfect Sunday morning vibe! What really made this place stand out was their fusion foods, which I'm usually hesitant about because some restaurants combine flavors that just shouldn't go together. That was not the case with this place! Everything we ordered was perfect. We started with the kimchi biscuits, which were so cheesy and flavorful. They didn't taste much like kimchi to us, but it was still seasoned very well and paired perfectly with the maple butter it came with. I ordered the ranch egg with spicy pork, and the person who took my order audibly gasped in delight because it was his favorite. I could definitely see why. It shocked me how well the sweet and spicy pork surprisingly paired well with their pico de gallo and salsa. They were also so generous with their portions and there was basically an entire avocado on it, which is unheard of at brunch spots! I had to take half of it home. My friend got the loco moco and I also tried a bit of it. The bulgogi patty had a perfect amount of sweetness and tasted so good with the gravy. We came in with a hungry crowd (ha!) of kids and adults for dinner. I got the katsu burger, which was delectably delicious. The pork cutlet was crunch and the katsu slaw & mayo added a nice sweet and tart balance. Another stand-out was the shishito peppers, which had a really tasty sauce. This restaurant is close to Burbank although the city shows LA. I'd rate this place between 3.5 to 4 stars. We celebrated a friend's birthday there. Staff were friendly & service was good. The menu was so extensive, it felt overwhelming to look at everything on the menu. We got kimchi biscuits, corn with polenta, skirt steak, shrimp risotto, & Asian rice noodle salad. Didn't take any pictures as i was too busy looking at the menu & trying to decide what to order... My friends said the kimchi biscuits were OK but nothing they'd order again. The butter that came with the biscuits made up for the lack of taste. Polenta with corn was OK but again, nothing "wow!" Skirt steak was too tough although ordered medium. Shrimp was good in shrimp risotto but the brown rice made the risotto too tough. Asian rice noodle salad was good & we'd probably order that again. The staff were nice about us having a cake there we brought to the restaurant. Their credit card machine was malfunctioning so we had to pay cash. I asked "what if we didn't have enough cash on us?"
