    Yummy mushroom truffle pizza!
    Laura M.

Yummy mushroom truffle pizza!!! We also got the rigatoni pasta, which was pretty good. I wouldn't get it again though. And the chicken salad with almonds, which was pretty good after adding goat cheese to it. I think I'll stick with pizza next time.

Such a solid spot for breakfast, coffee or lunch in Toluca Lake. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and while it's casual, it feels more elevated than your average breakfast spot. Plenty of outlets if you want to come by with your laptop! I usually come on weekdays and it's not super busy. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. I love their coffee drinks and I've never had a meal here I didn't like. Most recently I had the breakfast hash and it was delicious! It came with salad and toast so it was a pretty big meal. They have lots of healthy salad options for the health conscious folks and pastries for those with a sweet tooth! It's a great place to take people for a variety of menu options. Service was great and all of the tables were extremely clean. If you don't mind the self serve vibe, you've got to check it out!

My family and I decided to stop by Sweetsalt in a Sunday evening. Unbeknownst to us, after a certain time (dinner?) it turns into a sit down restaurant with table service rather than the order at the counter and take your number and sit version we had experienced previously. The mood is somewhere between romantic and chic in the evening. We ordered an assortment of items including hamburgers but this the woodfired pizza stood out. I would be back just for that, maybe joined with a appetizer or two and a glass of wine. Cheers.

I didn't see a lot of dinner reviews so I thought I'd try it. We made a reservation on Resy but it wasn't necessary there was plenty of seating available. It's cute and has a nice wine bar, open seating area with hard floors means it can get loud when full. The service was pretty good, they have happy hour daily for wine and beer and select food. What we ordered: appetizer was garlic shrimp which was a bit disappointing with six small shrimp in some sauce. Good flavor but it was just ok. Next came our entrees which were truffle cavetteli pasta and the wild lemon glaze halibut. Both of these options were excellent! The halibut had great flavor and a good portion. We also had dessert of warm butter cake and an affogado coffee. One thing to point out is they have table service during dinner. It is definitely worth venturing out to if you're in the neighborhood, a chill vibe with fresh food.

In my ongoing quest to canvass all of Toluca Lake for food reviews, I tried Sweetsalt again for lunch yesterday. This is my third time there, I went once for breakfast and once for a lunch meeting. Service is fine. 4/5. You order up front and they bring the food to you. I have found both times I've went that the cashiers were busy doing something so even though there was no line I had to wait about 5 min for service. Not the biggest deal. Food usually comes prompt. Atmosphere 3/5. This place looks really pretty on the inside. Has some outdoor seating on riverside. It's sorta elevated fast casual. Feels like a kit store made from left over parts from old mimis restaurants. My only real issue is its high ceilings. It gets very loud fast. This seems to be a trend with places these days, but I prefer to hear the person I am dining with. Food 3/5. It's just... ok. I had a breakfast once and it was fine. Had a salad once and it was fine. Yesterday I ordered their Brussel and kale tacos with double chicken (which totaled like almost 30 bucks!). My partner had a caprese with chicken and it was super dry! Portion sizes are good. Coffee is also just ok. Lots of better options nearby. So the food is... fine. But so so expensive. Again it's like, am I getting my money's worth? I can go to TJs down the street, get about 20 meals that taste better, go home and heat them up. Not sure if it's me or restaurants in general in these times but I'm just not finding the quality to be worth the cost. Go here for a quick breakfast or brunch or maybe a meeting. Maybe just stay home or make a nice picnic lunch or something if you're looking for dining with intent.

I've been meaning to stop by for months. This was a unique yet lovely experience. Stand on line to place/pay for my order. Grabbed my number, took a few steps where I cured my coffee, needed additional napkins and my hot sauce. Next thing I know, this lovely plate was presented. Thanks to Hannah who was very helpful to me, while I decided my breakfast. I so enjoyed my meal. There is parking in the back, as well as street parking. Sweetsalt offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was enjoyable.

First time trying. We were a bit confused as the host desk had a sign saying to seat yourself. We finally figured out it was a stand in line at the counter to order place. We placed our order. My wife had the Steak and Blue on baguette. I got the Shortrib sandwich with fries. We both really enjoyed the sandwiches. The surprise was how good their Japanese Lager was. I really enjoyed it. The service was great and the relaxed atmosphere made it a great place to just hang out. We are definitely coming again.

The food taste great but sometimes can come out a bit cold. They are kinda slow when serving food but they have many orders to prepare! Very polite people & and clean space :)

The place looks nice. Free parking behind the building. Luckily because we had major problems finding parking on the street on a Saturday afternoon. Staff seem friendly. We decided to sit outside in front by the street. It wasn't too noisy. My spouse ordered a lentil/vegetable soup. He let me try it. I had to agree with him. Very watery in my opinion but also extremely tasteless. Absolutely nothing to write home about. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and an orange juice. It wasn't bad. But it came with some greens. I assumed it was a side salad. But either they forgot the dressing or they don't like to share much of it. I tasted just plane green lettuce. Nothing else. After we got the food. No one ever came out to check on the us. So I never had a chance to ask for anything anyway. Well, it was worth a try. I won't say this place is horrible but not for us.

Fig & Prosciutto sandwich, Honey Lavender Matcha
    Audrey F.

Very fast service, has some free parking in the back, lots of seating in a stylish dining area, and a fairly large menu of sandwiches and salads. You order at a cashier and then they bring the food to you in less than 5 minutes. The fig and prosciutto sandwich was pretty good and I enjoyed the honey lavender matcha latte which had a fairly prominent lavender flavor. Sandwich could've been bigger or a bit more filling given that between the drink, sandwich, tip, and tax, my meal cost over $33. Overall, I did enjoy this spot but you're definitely paying for the atmosphere.

Sweetsalt is a cute little cafe in Toluca Lake. Seemed like there were some people doing work on their laptops, friends catching up with each other, and overall a chill, laid-back spot. The food was alright, wasn't blown away by any of the dishes. The side salad was whatever, felt like the mixed greens out of a bag. Service was pretty good and friendly. Highlight was probably the breakfast sandwich.

    Breakfast Burrito

Really friendly cashier, didn't get her name. This was my first time and was disappointed. Pretty expensive for how bland the breakfast burrito was. I wish it said it comes with that green salsa (the cilantro is overpowering and couldn't enjoy it) the side salad, i think they could give something else or nothing at all, it doesn't go well with a burrito imo. I replaced the bacon for avocado and only ate half of the burrito, the egg was pretty greasy, not tasty at all.

I saw the reviews and photos and I knew I just had to stop by. Thankfully I had read the review about parking because it can definitely be confusing. Parking is street parking and a short walk to the restaurant. I did see a lot up ahead when I initially turned in the driveway but the sign looks like it's meant for a different business. I found parking right before Weddington and walked to Bruxie. On my way a shady character started following me and speaking to me and I power walked to the restaurant to get away. As I turned the corner I was greeted by friendly staff. There is someone behind the window to take orders but also someone outside the window able to take orders as well. After looking at the menu I orderd the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a side of waffle fries, and also a breakfast burrito with a side of tots (that I planned to eat tomorrow morning). I paid and then waited in the shade of the outdoor seating which has allot of shade and it's a nice area to sit. My food was ready in maybe 15 to 20 minutes and then I walked back to my car as I had to get to my next destination. Unfortunately that shady man was waiting for me and when I rounded the corner he acted like he was ignoring me but then he started following me again!!! I ended up taking advantage of my long legs and I did a long legged power walk back to my car leaving him in the dust. People saw me walking so fast with such long strides and were looking at me like I'm crazy. When I looked back the man was still walking my way staring straight at me but thankfully he can't walk fast to catch up to me. The point of me writing about this is to be careful on this street, keep your eyes on your surroundings and do not get distracted staring at your phone. On my way driving to my destination I started nibbling on the waffle fries and they were so perfect! I don't know how to explain the puffy crunch that comes with them as you bite down. So perfectly crispy yet soft! I then decided to try the tots and they are perfection too! The perfect amount of spice that gives a hint of spicy but it's not overwhelming. I wasn't planning to eat both the fries and the tots but before you know it I arrived at my destination and both were in my belly! I then ate the Nashville chicken sandwich, absolutely delicious and generous portion, I love the taste again spicy but not overwhelming, it was perfect. My only wish is that the chicken could have been a thicker piece of chicken but it was a thin long piece. Other than that it definitely hit the spot. I am looking forward to eating my breakfast burrito tomorrow morning!

She was friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the interaction. The restaurant was clean, which I always appreciate. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, though. It felt a bit stuffy inside, two of the three menu screens weren't working, and it was very quiet with no music playing, which made the dining room feel a little empty.
