I came here for lunch w work colleagues and we got Indy dog seated. However I will say from ordering to the food coming out, it took almost 30+ minutes. He explained to me, on a special day I got to shadow him "at work," that the layout of Tally bar is perfect for business lunches. So once a year Hubs and I come to the Tally to raise a glass to Dad and enjoy a classic meal done perfectly since 1959. Tonight, I was in the mood for one of their hand carved steaks. A beautiful 30oz New York Angus, seared and delivered perfectly Rare/Medium (I like more rare than medium, but enjoy a good sear). It came with choice of side(steamed veggies for me), and salad or scratch made daily soup(chicken noodle tonight). I requested some A1 sauce, but a perfect sauce doesn't need it and I didn't use it. The steak was seasoned perfectly with just salt & pepper. Chef's kiss! Hubs went with the classic pot roast dinner, opting for a baked potato over the fresh daily mashed potatoes and house made gravy. He also enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Our dinners also have an option of a loaf of sourdough or muffin - all baked fresh daily. These muffins are SO GOOD! You'll be asked if you prefer the muffin to go, which I've elected to do previously because it's a great treat in the morning for breakfast, but tonight I wanted that delicious, moist carrot cake muffin with my dinner. This review is based on my experience with Thanksgiving 2025. Overall, I would say I had a good experience! I had heard about Tallyrand's Thanksgiving dinner for several years and decided to see what the fuss was all about. I arrived in line around 10:50 and it was already quite long, wrapping around the building. The line did move at a decent pace, and the employees did a great job of keeping everything organized. It also helped that the line was mostly shaded. I was able to place my order after about an hour and a half of waiting in line, and had a very quick and easy ordering experience. Each set meal was about $31, and came with the meat (plus stuffing if you ordered the turkey), yams, mashed potatoes, bread, butter, cranberry sauce, and a slice of pie. Once I placed my order, I was directed to the other side of the restaurant to pick up my order. I waited about another 20 to 30 minutes to receive my order. There was so much food! The turkey was plentiful and I especially enjoyed the stuffing. Yams were great, mashed potatoes were okay but I'm particular about my potatoes. The cranberry sauce was fine but I would've liked it to be a bit more tart. Bread was freshly baked and delicious. I couldn't finish all of the bread or pie and had some leftovers. After having a conversation about good breakfast restaurants with my sister-in-law, she brought up Tallyrand, and I thought, "No way! Really?!" So one day, my family and I finally paid them a visit. Upon walking in and being seated, don't expect much. They are in desperate need of a renovation, but in all honesty, they likely will never do such a thing. Everything seems to work as is and why change what has been working for them for decades. Just look beyond your surroundings and get to ordering. Both come with your choice of sides, so make sure you peruse the various options if you order a sandwich - the default is fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Reuben was perfectly toasted and the meat was very tender. The Club had thick slices of chicken, crispy lettuce, and the right amount of bacon. We did ask for an extra side of mayo and Dijon for the Club. The side of fruit was mostly cantaloupe which was alright if you like cantaloupe. The carrot cake was tasty, too. Update: Been about 10 times for breakfast and lunch, but I think mostly dinner. It's a local coffee shop/diner/family restaurant that you don't see much of nowadays. It's the kind of place that is pretty reliable, predictable and no-frills. Come as you are. Stay for their varied menu and affordable prices. Think of it as "Burbank's living room". Breakfast is pretty standard, although pancakes are pretty memorable. Can get very busy during the mornings. They have a long counter (maybe for 10 or so) in addition to 2 dining rooms as well as a sorta subterranean bar/lounge area. We've sat in both dining rooms so far. They did also have patio seating at one point but I didn't notice it on our last visit, maybe due to weather? I mostly order their roast turkey dinner which comes with all the fixings. Note the turkey here is not the pressed kind, but the real deal...freshly roasted and carved. Yes, Thanksgiving in April does exist! Service is usually pretty quick and friendly. A lot of locals visit here. I would say give yourself the time to enjoy a meal, step back a bit in time when "going out to dinner" was a real treat and event.
