Stopped by this place on a whim and really enjoyed it! (I'm not going to lie, it was my first time going to a real diner) FOOD: I got The Popular Turkey Melt ($17.25) and it hit my sandwich craving. There was a good amount of meat, perfect ratio of cheese (sometimes, I feel like melts almost have too much cheese where it's all you can taste), and the sourdough wasn't overly toasted. But the fries!!! I've never had fries in this shape, they are thick and flat, and it was very yummy. The Chocolate Shake ($8.95) was also creamy and not too sweet. All the food was hot at arrival, and the portions are good sizes. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: The staff are super sweet, and the place just felt so cozy to catch up with my friends. A solid (and historic) diner! Stopped by for lunch. Booths everywhere, you see the counter right as you walk in...it's very classic. You've got a covered patio option if you want to sit outside. We got the Giant Reuben with a side salad and the Fresh Chicken Clubhouse with fruit and a small slice of carrot cake. Both come with your choice of sides, so make sure you peruse the various options if you order a sandwich - the default is fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Reuben was perfectly toasted and the meat was very tender. The Club had thick slices of chicken, crispy lettuce, and the right amount of bacon. We did ask for an extra side of mayo and Dijon for the Club. The side of fruit was mostly cantaloupe which was alright if you like cantaloupe. The carrot cake was tasty, too. Service is pretty quick and they check in on you often. If you're looking for a no frills diner with classic, fresh fare, check this Burbank neighborhood staple out. read more

Update: Been about 10 times for breakfast and lunch, but I think mostly dinner. It's a local coffee shop/diner/family restaurant that you don't see much of nowadays. It's the kind of place that is pretty reliable, predictable and no-frills. Come as you are. Stay for their varied menu and affordable prices. Think of it as "Burbank's living room". Breakfast is pretty standard, although pancakes are pretty memorable. Can get very busy during the mornings. They have a long counter (maybe for 10 or so) in addition to 2 dining rooms as well as a sorta subterranean bar/lounge area. We've sat in both dining rooms so far. They did also have patio seating at one point but I didn't notice it on our last visit, maybe due to weather? I mostly order their roast turkey dinner which comes with all the fixings. Note the turkey here is not the pressed kind, but the real deal...freshly roasted and carved. Yes, Thanksgiving in April does exist! Service is usually pretty quick and friendly. A lot of locals visit here. I would say give yourself the time to enjoy a meal, step back a bit in time when "going out to dinner" was a real treat and event. It was Thanksgiving Day and the place was busy. After all, it specializes in turkey meals. I had the Roast Tom turkey meal with mixed white and dark meat, lots of gravy, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and a slice of pumpkin pie for dessert. Everything was so tasty. A crowd pleaser. The menu has other items that I've heard are real good like corned beef and roast beef. This is an old-fashioned diner. It's been in business since 1959. A real institution in Burbank. We were called after only 15 minutes to sit at the counter. Just me and my boyfriend. We saw the cooks busy at work and chatted with the waitresses. I asked the woman next to me if she enjoyed her pie. "Nice. Not too sweet. Not too much spice," she said. Love the friendly, home-spun atmosphere. I'd come back and try something else. read more

We learned about this place from a Facebook post and couldn't believe we'd never heard of it before, especially since it had been around for several decades. We visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast and the place was packed. That said, we were seated quickly and food arrived within 10 minutes. Wait staff was prompt and attentive. Food is your typical diner fare and there's not much to say about bacon and eggs, but the eggs were hot and the bacon, plentiful. The muffin that came with the meal was meh...it was small and forgettable. Overall, it was what we expected and nothing more. Would we come back? Likely not. We don't live in the area, but even if we did it lacks that special "something" that would lure us back. I can see why this place has its regulars. I could tell from looking around that it's a popular place for the Burbank set. I'd give them an A for service, C+ for food quality and a D for value. read more

Open since 1959 Tallyrand is one of the more famous diners in the valley, especially in the Burbank area. Inside looks exactly as you would expect, a diner from the late 60s or early 70s and the sort of neighborhood hang out spot where all types gather for a great breakfast. Inside has many different seating options, from counter to table to booth. Our server was very polite and the food items came out very quickly. I would say my favorite part of this place is the price because it is very fair and much less than a lot of other places close by. There is a large, free parking lot attached so parking was very easy. The food is pretty good, but not great. There are better diners around Los Angeles but the price here is hard to beat. For my meal I chose my favorite breakfast dish, which is Eggs Benedict, which is only served on Sundays. I felt the dish was fairly good however, the hollandaise was not as creamy as I like and the eggs were a bit over hard. We also started off with a Cinnamon Roll, which was honestly very good and I would recommend ordering. The other dish we ordered was the Pancakes & Eggs and the eggs were very dry and really lacked flavor. We both believe that a great breakfast starts and ends with the quality of eggs. Overall, a fairly priced and historic diner in Burbank worth trying at least once. I would recommend but only if you are already in the area. read more

Waitresses here seem to be in a click and are locals. From elderly to teens. So if something is wrong with your food or the service, you probably won't get the correction you're looking for at this "club." Sourdough bread is great if it's just been baked. However, if you get old bread you are told that it's been microwaved to reheat it. Then it's like wood. I was waited on by a portly waitress whom had long and thick acrylic nails and when she brought me my turkey her nail was in the gravy ! She moonlights at a hospital, so I'm shocked at the lack of hygiene. Lastly, the "don't pick the lemons" sign in the parking lot is not very classy! And as a highlight, came here on thanksgiving and they dropped off all my food including dessert all at once with the whip cream melting on my pie. The owner is aware of all the shortcomings of this restaurant but does absolutely nothing to correct them. read more

I went here this morning to have breakfast with my friend Dave. I ordered the Chili Hash and it comes with chunks of ham and bell peppers and grilled onions and potatoes and cheese and they put two eggs over easy on top, but you can get the eggs however you want or not have any eggs. This was extremely delicious, it was my first time eating this and I plan on going here more often. My friend Dave got the French toast with two eggs over easy and the potatoes, he was very happy with his meal too. This place has a large parking area and there is also street parking available. This restaurant also has a full separate bar and lots of seating there. The waiter was very pleasant and kept our coffees full. This restaurant also cooks a complete Turkey every day so if you choose you may order a thanksgiving meal any day, they are always open for breakfast lunch and dinner. A very cool bar lounge area down below with TVs and comfortable booths as well. The food was really tasty with decent portions. Let me start by saying that the food was passable and the fries were undercooked. Not exactly the culinary experience one hopes for when dining out. The rest of the meal was fine. But what truly left a bitter taste wasn't the food--it was the treatment. I just left the restaurant with my 5 year old son. If you have any sort of melanin in your skin, brace yourself for being treated like an afterthought. The service was dismissive, cold, and indifferent. Meanwhile, I watched as our lighter- (white) skinned neighbors received warm smiles, attentive service, and the kind of hospitality you'd expect from a place trying to earn repeat customers. Once our food was dropped off, that was it--service completely shut off. The waitress disappeared. No check-ins, no refills, not even a glance to see if we needed anything else. My coffee sat empty the entire time. Now, I understand that servers can have off days. She might've been busy or dealing with something personal--totally human, and I get that. But what I don't understand is how she had the time, energy, and enthusiasm to consistently check in on the other tables, refill drinks, offer dessert menus, and engage with them like they mattered. The contrast wasn't subtle--it was loud and clear. It was a glaring message: if you're white, you'll be catered to like royalty. Everyone else? You're just filling a seat. And while I wish I could say I was shocked by the experience, I'm not. Sadly, this is the reality--where even in 2025, your skin tone still determines how much dignity and attention you're afforded in certain spaces. I won't be returning. Fast service, kind staff and delicious food! It had the look and feel of a diner, complete with counter seating, the edges are a bit worn, but it's because of its history. I love old school and Tallyrand fits that bill. That said, even as mid-priced diners go, it's...meh. To be fair, I can only judge on one of their signature sandwiches and a counter seat. Maybe I'm missing something but some current culinary guidance in the kitchen and server training for the wait staff would help this spot survive another 65 years. One cannot pronounce 'Tallyrand' without hearing the voice of Huell Howser in their head. Thanks to Mr. Howser for bringing this delightful restaurant to light, as they have been a boon to the Burbank area since being on his show. Had their Pot Roast Dinner special, and was amazed at what they had brought. First was a small salad; incredibly crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Normally, the salad gets eaten immediately to go directly to the main course, but the crispness and clean flavor had me saving a bit of it to have WITH dinner. The bread that followed was a delightfully perfect three slices of sourdough goodness. Cloud soft center and a not-too-tough sourdough outer crust made a wonderful supplement to the meal. As for the dinner, both the veggie blend and the potato were very good. But that pot roast! Fork-tender-soft and full of flavor. Not salty at all, but a nice blend of spices could be savored across the outer rid of the roast. Each bite brought joy as the meat melted into smaller tender shavings that delighted the tongue. The ambiance is what a family restaurant should have: groups of loved ones gathered to gather to engage in discourse over a good meal. Nothing much has changed since Huell first showcased this restaurant, and perhaps that is the best part of this place; it is familiar to the eye and has a warmth that calls to the heart. The service is very good. In many instances, the crew can rely on each other to help one another bring that quality service to everyone, by everyone who works there. Many of us had the experience of having someone take drink orders, provides utensils when needed, etc. This one gentleman did just that, then our waiter showed up. It was slightly busy yesterday, so the waiter was busy, and the initial gentleman constantly checked the table, refilled empty cups, and made sure everything was taken care of during the meal. He was incredibly facilitating when asked to add some cappuccino muffins (that are INCREDIBLY good!) and if take out boxes were available. The waiter did show to provide the check, but throughout the stay, that initial gentleman went above and beyond to make the experience there the best I've had in a while. I may not have the same megawatt smile Huell had, but I carried mine out with my leftovers, with a full, happy belly and a sense of happiness, knowing there are still good places like The Tallyrand in this world. read more

We had a mid-week dinner at Burbank mainstay Tallyrand. I was craving a BLT and that's what I ordered ($13.50). I asked for well-done fries. The lady got a pesto chicken sandwich - Chicken breast, pesto, tomatoes, arugula & jack cheese grilled on sourdough ($14.95) and a Ketel One martini. My BLT was good but it didnt nearly have enough crispy bacon for what I was craving and envisioned. It could have been better. The steak fries were decent but could have been crispier. Again, you dont get a lot of em. That's really too bad. The lady liked her chicken pesto sandwich. The sourdough had a nice golden grilled look to it. It definitely looked better than mine. Her drink was good and it came with a mini- refill. We wanted a slice after dinner and were told the options. We chose apple only to be told shortly after that apple pie sold out. That was a bummer especially cause we thought that's what we were having. We ordered peach pie instead but it was just ok. Service was fine. Needed to ask for water refills but that was ok. No complaints... Plenty of parking in their own private lot. read more

Restaurant is usually a home run but this visit was quite a let-down. Server avoided us and the food took a long time to arrive while the restaurant was relatively empty, I ordered the salmon salad and maybe got two tablespoon chunks of salmon, while the picture in the menu shows a nice filet on it. Got more bacon than salmon and it was $20. F that. My mom got the cheeseburger and she liked it, but it was nearly $18 for it. Very disappointed as this was such an amazing restaurant previously. After arriving for breakfast we made the horseshoe parking lot loop around the building. Finding it extremely crowded, we then found parking on the street; barely. Stepping inside just to put in my name for the 20 minute wait, then soon led to a window booth; classic old school diner decor. Debbie was our waitress, and she greeted us with warmth and a smile. Then our waters were brought and we were given time to view our menus. I requested the #5, French toast. Which also comes with hash browns and eggs(scrambled). As well as a hot chocolate. My wife, the Popeye omelet; with hash browns and the carrot cake muffin with raisins. My French toast was near perfect, as were the accompanying sides. Although the hash browns could have used a bit more outer crunch. And my hot chocolate was satisfying, once I got past all the whipped cream to taste it. My wife enjoyed her omelet which arrived hot though with slightly more cheese than she would have liked. While the potatoes were thoroughly cooked, which she's had issues with them not being at other diners. And the carrot cake muffin? Superbly delicious! About as moist and flavorful as any we've ever tasted; and I only sampled a bit of it. Debbie's tip was well deserved, and we'd definitely return. read more

Husband and I realized that we've never been to Tallyrand, which appears to be a 60+ year old Burbank institution, so we went last night and sat at the bar. I absolutely LOVE old restaurants with dark interiors, cozy booths, lots of wood and even more charm. Give me those over rooms of blank white walls and cheap tables and chairs any day! The menu is everything you'd expect from a diner menu, and more. And with a full bar! There were a few beers on draft and a few specialty cocktails. That evening's special, according to the neon board, was pot roast, which you could order in the form of a quesadilla, a dip, a sandwich, or a twister (what is that? Hell if I know!) I went with the steak sandwich, husband went with the hot turkey sandwich (marked on the menu as Huell Howser's favorite), and we split zucchini sticks. There was a photo of the hot turkey sandwich on the menu and I thought it was an old, washed-out photo, but no.... the sandwich is smothered in white gravy, over a bed of mashed potatoes, and needs a fork. It came with a side of cranberry sauce and the turkey was astoundingly juicy and tender. My open "sandwich" was a large, thin steak served over two pieces of cheesy toast. Steak was a lil dry but worked just right with the crispy, soft cheesy bread, and it's what I expected from a diner steak. The zucchini had much more crunchy breading than identifiable zucchini, but was still tasty. There was so much food that we took most of it home and couldn't get dessert, but we really enjoyed it! Our bartender, Chrissy, was friendly and welcoming, and chatted with us, and our server was extremely friendly too. There is a screen by the bar, and we thought it would be a chill place to watch Laker games during the season (unfortunately, we were stuck with Celtics last night).
