Crispy Shitake Bites with Korean BBQ sauce
    Lori S.

New menu was debuted yesterday and I am giving !! I had the Crispy Shitake Bites with Korean BBQ sauce and they were prepared to perfection!! I think I am obsessed! Meat lovers will love them! The texture and seasoning was sooo good! My friend ordered the Mac and cheese bites and I have to say they were the best I have ever had! So creamy, crunchy and cheesy! The hospitality provided by Dennis in the bar area makes for a fun time, every time. It is a place where you can dine alone but not feel alone. Highly, highly recommend!! Tons of vegetarian options and staff said the braised short rib is the queen bee on the menu!

I am staying at the Coast Annabelle Hotel and came to eat breakfast around 7:30. It was empty (a table left when we arrived). We had a kind waitress and my short stack was yummy! Bananas were right and it was filling!

So I was on Yelp and noticed this place has good reviews so I decided to order some food from the restaurant since we were staying at the hotel. I must say the food is pretty delicious. I ordered my food to go as I wanted to enjoy it in my room. Got the build your own cheeseburger and the Mac and cheese appetizer. The burger comes with a lot of fries and fresh toppings. The burger was a big burger and only ate half. The Mac and cheese was piping hot and a big serving for a appetizer as well. I'd definitely order from here again.

Our first dinner in California was brought to you by Olive's Bistro, located inside the Coast Anabelle Hotel, where my partner and I were staying in Burbank. Upon entering by passing a crowded, vibrant bar, we had the whole place to ourselves at this warm, intimate vibe for a while. The menu was limited to two pages and decided on the French onion soup, Chicken Cobb Salad, and Mushroom Burger. Everything was prepared on-site, from the sauces to the salad dressings to the homemade rolls. The food arrived hot and well-seasoned. The Cobb Salad could easily feed enough for two people. Even though the mushroom burger was specifically listed with sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, and melted Swiss, it also came with raw onions, lettuce, tomato, and a sauce that was a total letdown and should have stuck with the menu. The price was fair for the amount of food that one got. The staff were very personable, and they made you feel welcome, which we could recommend.

Top Sirloin with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables

My husband and I had been here before and their burgers were good. This time we went in and sat down, and we weren't as thrilled about it. They did not have Ribeye, so we went with the top sirloin. It was okay. The meats were cooked correctly, but it wasn't the best cuts. The cuts also weren't the best, some were really chewy. The service was okay, it was also close to closing so that's probably our fault. The ambiance was fun, they had a wedding or birthday in a section of the restaurant and they were having a lot of fun! Our alcoholic drinks were super good!

I can't speak to the food. I only had the Buffalo wings, margaritas, Johnny walker & Ginger ale. All I can say is that Dennis makes a mean margarita. Can't believe I doubted the guy. He is a great conversationalist. He's the only reason I think ppl come back here If I am ever in the area I would go back to see Dennis

Everything you'd want in a local place. While staying at the Safari Inn I was referred to the Olive Bistro. Walking in I had not much to go on. The place is clean with no real motif. The food was excellent. We had the coconut shrimp, cheese ravioli, and the rigatoni. It was so good I came back and grabbed the brownie and ice cream for dessert. While waiting for the food, which they offered to bring over to the hotel, I decided to have a drink at the bar. The staff was super welcoming and had genuine conversations with the customers. Isabelle was an all star wearing multiple hats and doing an incredible job. You could easily tell while they had so many regulars. The service was so good not only will I be back if on trips. But it made it feel like a town I'd want to live in. Hats off to the Olive Bistro we will see you next time.

What I couldn't finish of my Denver Omelette and home fries.

    - Broken Compass Tiki…read more My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank.

This place really made you feel like Captain Jack Sparrow was going to jump out at every corner. It so themed for a tiki bar, but if pirates and mermaids had a place to hang out this would be that place. From the decor to the detailed bathroom sounds and the menu item names. You couldn't escape the theme anyway and I loved it! We were gathering for a friends birthday and there was 30 of us. Couldn't believe we found enough seats for us in the back area but we did. The staff was there to keep drinks flowing and keep food coming. The portion for their poke nachos was unreal. Do i wish they put a bit more poke on the dish? Yes. But it was still one of my favorite dishes of the night. The drinks were all so cute and they had ample non alcoholic mocktails as well which were yummy. If you want a speakeasy feel (you lieterally go through a secret door in the wall) and an under the sea eperience while ctching up with friends, you can totally do it here. For my friends birthday they rang some bell and all sang happy birthday to her which was so cool. Why was the bathroom the coolest part? They literally have ocean sounds and seaguls for you to hear while using the restroom. Theres even a fan in the bathroom to make you feel like you're next to the ocean because I kept fighting that darn toilet seat cover to stay put. Such a fun night and will be back for the vibes. Special s/o to Amanda and all her crew the night we were there. They helped out with photos, drinks, and keeping food going all night. She had such a great team with her that night. Everyone was helping us out even finding us chairs and clearing tables so we could make room for more food.

Our lunch at Castaway in Burbank was one of those rare experiences where everything felt easy, welcoming, and genuinely thoughtful. My mom uses supplemental oxygen and mobility equipment, and from the moment we arrived, the staff made her feel comfortable and supported. Jacob at the host stand was so nice and helped accommodate my mom's equipment. Our server Juan Carlos was truly exceptional! Warm, attentive, and completely on top of everything, he treated Mama with such care and made her feel special throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic. The deviled eggs with lobster and bacon were a standout starter! Crab cakes were also delicious. The kale and Caesar salads were fresh and bright. The smoked turkey sandwich was perfect for Mama and the seared salmon was cooked beautifully. We ended with the lava cake and key lime pie, both generous enough to share and absolutely delicious. After lunch, we stepped out onto the balcony and took in the stunning views of Los Angeles and the valley. It was the perfect ending to a lovely afternoon. For anyone who worries about accessibility or whether a restaurant will truly understand your family's needs, Castaway showed us genuine care and kindness. When making our reservation, I even requested a scenic table since we didn't have one the first time. The evening started exactly as we had hoped. We were warmly welcomed, seated with a beautiful view, and our server got us off to a good start. Unfortunately, once the restaurant became busier, the experience changed. One of the main reasons I returned was for the Tomahawk steak, only to find out they had already sold out. I ordered the Steak Progressive instead, which was good, but it wasn't what I had been looking forward to. As dinner went on, our table seemed to disappear from our server's radar. We placed our order before the dinner rush, yet several tables seated after us--including the couple next to us celebrating a special occasion--received their meals, finished eating, and left before we did. We weren't ordering anything unusual, so the delay was frustrating, especially while neighboring tables received much more attentive service. Another frustrating moment involved the patio umbrella. The sun was directly in my face, and when we asked if it could be adjusted, we were told it didn't tilt. After several minutes of using our menus for shade, another team member walked over and adjusted it in seconds. It was disappointing to learn it could be moved after all. By then, the mood had shifted. Instead of enjoying our celebration, we were ready to box up our food and head home. Before leaving, I spoke with Yesenia, one of the managers. He genuinely listened and asked what Castaway could do better. My answer was simple: I don't want another couple celebrating a special occasion to leave feeling the way we did. The view is incredible, but people remember how they're treated just as much as what they're served. To their credit, the restaurant removed two appetizers from our bill and offered us a complimentary dessert. We appreciated the gesture, but it missed the point. The cost was never the issue. We happily pay for great food, exceptional service, and leave generous tips when it's deserved. We declined the dessert because we were simply ready to leave, and even its presentation felt rushed. The reason I'm giving three stars instead of one or two is because I know what Castaway is capable of. Our first visit was outstanding, which made this experience all the more disappointing. As my spouse said afterward, "This experience won't necessarily stop us from coming back because we know what Castaway is capable of." I agree. I'm sharing this review in the hope that future guests celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones receive the level of hospitality that made us fall in love with Castaway the first time. I'm hopeful our next visit reflects that experience once again.

My son didn't make a reservation because it was a Wednesday night and he didn't think it would be crowded. But with 5 adults and a baby carriage, we had to wait for the right table because the somewhat small restaurant was full. We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.

They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

The servers brought out water dishes and treats on a silver tray for the dogs- true service! I missed happy hour, but tried a themed cocktail, the onion rings, and the truffle burger. It was all great! My friends and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and our server was great. It seemed like a lot of regulars were there, which helped contribute to the overall good vibes. Dog friendly- YES! We loved it!

That says a lot about the staff. Our server, she was a young lady, was on top of everything and really made our time here enjoyable. I came here for happy hour on a Tuesday was surprised to find out they do $2 tacos and $5 margaritas. Let me tell you, the tacos are delicious and the margaritas are STRONG. It's a hell of a good time. I really enjoyed the chicken taco and carne asada taco. The meats were juicy and very flavorful. I also ordered their nachos, chili cheese fries and bread pudding. The nachos were made perfectly with the chips being thin and crispy. They used a couple different cheeses and the jalapeños were a nice touch. Definitely ordering it again, I can do without the chili cheese fries. It was good but it wasn't amazing. Their bread pudding was HUGE and I can see why it's one of the popular items here. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft and gooey in the inside. Morrisons is definitely a fun place to be. Perfect to enjoy happy hour, catch the games on, and hang out friends. They have plenty of seating inside and outdoor with heat lamps. They are dog and kid friendly as well

Wanted to try out a new place in Burbank, on Saturday early evening…read more Initially we parked on the street , seems to have plenty of parking around on a weekend. But when we walked in we saw the parking lot, so we moved the car. (Rare for a restaurant to have a parking lot. About 12 parking spots ) The drinks were tasty. I got the lemon drink, wife got the sweet white drink. .(forget the names) Appetizer. Mexican corn ribs. Funny name. Was super tasty. Was going to order the lamb kafta , but a few minutes later the waiter reported it's unavailable tonight. Instead I went with the dolma . I have had grape leaves in the past , my mom would make them. These were amazing. Packed with loads of flavor. No regrets ! My wife ordered the lamb chops, excellent. Service was great. Ambience was good, nice enough for a nice date night. Would return.

I didn't take pics or walk around the whole restaurant because I was on a date, but will be returning for more. I had a short rib, beet, cabbage soup of sort. My first bite was a bit more beety tasting than I was expected, but then added the dollop of sour cream provided, and it was like magic. It was a unique combination of flavors. Perfect for a dreary night. Filling and warming, and delicious . The presentation was beautiful as well. My date ordered a steak that also came with vegetables. He enjoyed, and it was cooked perfectly Our waitress was great. She had a good sense of what level of attention each table needed as I watched her. My only regret last night was not ordering some pistachio cheesecake that a table next to us ordered when seemingly just coming in for a quick dessert. This is a great place for a family dinner or a date, or something a little bit more upscale. Love that they had a parking lot, as well as there was plenty of street parking. I'm excited to return to try some more things on the menu. You can also call for reservations, although it was surprisingly not very busy for a Saturday night.

******* DEFINITELY SIT OUTSIDE ********…read more This restaurant was suggested by a neighbor as a cute date night spot with good food and drinks. She was spot on! Sit on the patio to enjoy the full effect of the fairy lights, fireplace and cozy spaces meant for an intimate date. I had their Old Fashioned which was banana flavored for summer. The banana was a more subtle finish, not sweet, but I still prefer their peach version and wish it was also on the menu. The deviled eggs are just the right bite for drinks. We also had the flatbread and hummus, made with green garbanzo beans and served with watermelon radish and pita bread. TIP: if you like biscuits, order theirs! Put your order in right away because they're baked fresh for you and they take a while. With the honey butter, it's perfect! Service is consistently good! From the hostess stand to the bar, it doesn't matter where you are, staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Servers read your vibe well and respond accordingly, providing excellent service for a date night or family/friends gathering.

The host informed us that our reservation did not specify outdoor seating and said we would need to wait about 1.5 hours at the bar because no outdoor tables were available. While waiting, we checked OpenTable and noticed that outdoor reservations were still available, so we updated our reservation and selected outdoor seating for that same time. We let the host know that we had changed our reservation, but despite having a confirmed outdoor reservation, he still insisted that we continue waiting, even though several outdoor tables appeared to be open and available. The food and drinks were excellent, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered. Unfortunately, the experience with the host left a disappointing first impression. We felt that the interaction could have been handled in a much more welcoming and accommodating manner. To make matters even more confusing, the outdoor tables we had hoped to sit at remained empty for the rest of the evening and were never occupied. Overall, the quality of the food and drinks was outstanding, but I hope the restaurant places more emphasis on customer service and hospitality. A friendly, accommodating host can make a significant difference in the overall dining experience.
