First time at this location although I had previously been at their closed Encino location years ago. As stated by others, their garlic bread is a must. We didn't have a reservation, but were still seating within 10 minutes. We asked for and were seated in a booth in the front room. We came for the rack of ribs and prime rib and were not disappointed. However, the online menu must have been a few versions old. Now, the prime rib only comes with one side, the veggies are not included, so you pay for them and/or any additional sides. Of course, the prices are all slightly higher now as well. Two of use got the side salad, which though it was fresh, seemed like it came out of a bag and not freshly prepared on site. The meat portion sizes were plentiful, and since we are light eaters, we took home plenty for another meal. We went for a celebration, so those price differences didn't matter to us, was only noting them so others won't be surprised. The restaurant looks very old school with pleather booths (many of them in ill repair). They had plenty of staff to handle the modest crowd. My wife and I ate at the Smoke House last week and unfortunately, we were very disappointed. I've eaten there maybe three times but the last time was over 30 years ago. My wife has eaten there numerous times over the past 45 years, including once in the past year. I kept reminding my wife I wanted to go again as I'm a big Prime Rib fan and consider Lawrey's in Beverly Hills my go to Prime Rib restaurant! Last week we finally got around to going and it was a huge disappointment. I started out with the French Onion soup. It was the worst I have ever had. The bread was all broken apart, The cheese was nonexistent and the soup itself was only ok. I couldn't believe that something they have probably had on their menu forever was this bad! Next we got our order of Garlic Cheese Bread. Again, very disappointed. First, it was cold. There was a hint of heat but on the cold side. And the bread was terrible. Neither one of us liked it and only ate half a slice each! Then for the main course. My wife ordered the Lobster Tail and I ordered the smaller portion of the Prime Rib. Again, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. First, my wife's lobster tail was Australian lobster, NOT Maine lobster tail. Big difference, if you know lobster, as I do since I grew up on the East Coast. Second, my Prime Rib was terrible. I came oh so close to sending it back but, we were hungry and waited forever for the food so I didn't send it back. The meat was on the cold side. The quality of the meat was no better than a Prime Rib meal at Bob's Big Boy. The Au Jus was good, as was the Horse Radish sauce, but neither could mask the fact the meat was terrible! There was a thick piece of whatever that I had to spit out on my plate twice since it was so tough! The prices weren't bad and the ambiance is still second to none. The waitress was slow as molasses and disappeared for long periods at a time. She brought us a Diet Coke that we didn't order and fortunately we checked the Bill before paying as she forgot to remove it. We had to ask another waitress to get ours as we hadn't seen her is ages. And even after that it took 5 minutes before she appeared. It's too bad because The Smoke House is such a great restaurant and has such a long standing Hollywood history. We had a reservation for 6:15 PM and were seated right away in a booth. The restaurant has a classic steakhouse feel with dim lighting and a quieter atmosphere. There wasn't any noticeable music during our visit, which made it easy to have a conversation. Parking is essentially valet only, so that made getting there a bit more difficult. One thing worth mentioning is that the staff came by to take a complimentary photo of our group. It's a nice gesture, but afterward they offer to sell it in a souvenir frame which felt a little salesy. I started with the house Pinot Noir, which was smooth, easy to drink, and reasonably priced compared to the rest of the wine list. For food, I ordered the 8 oz Prime Rib cooked medium rare along with the garlic cheesy bread for the table. The garlic bread was easily my favorite part of the meal. It had a soft, cheesy interior with a crisp, golden crust, and the cheese and garlic were well balanced without feeling too heavy. The prime rib had good flavor and was cooked to the requested temperature. It was juicy overall, though a few bites were a little chewier than I expected. Still, it was an enjoyable steak and satisfying for the portion size. I would recommend this as a date night or special occasion category rather than an everyday dinner. Lemme start by saying that our server, Roberto, was lovely and attentive. The entire wait staff was, actually. No complaints there. The restaurant itself is really nice. Kind of a vibe. Loved the old-timey music playing. The bar looked gorgeous. The food was... ehhhh. Had the famous garlic bread which was nice but not great. The spinach and artichoke dip was actually really good and possibly the best part of the meal. My burger was average. The cole slaw was bland. The BBQ ribs were cold and kinda rubbery. The tri tip comes with 2 sides and is a good portion, but we ordered it medium and it looked more medium well. The filet came as we it was ordered (medium rare) and it was well seasoned, it did not need any sauce. I got it with the mashed potatoes, they definitely needed salt/pepper. And the green beans it came with were a little overcooked. The cheesy garlic bread was super yummy! For sure the best thing I ate, the bread was so soft inside while the outside was crunchy. The Smoke House is one of those classic old school steakhouse restaurants. It seems like a time capsule during the heyday of Hollywood. The feel inside is like an old movie set where you would see mobsters or a high powered dinner in the movies, shaking hands and doing deals, vintage red leather booths, low light, Hollywood royalty and movies on the walls, very cool vibes inside. The food here is great, prime rib is excellent, tender, full of flavor, raw horseradish, nothing better. This is what I got the last time I was there, medium rare prime rib, mashed potatoes and veggies, capped off with a piece of cheesecake. Loved it all, no complaints. They have so much on the menu to try and what I have tried, it is all very good. They have a number of various dining areas as well as a full bar and private rooms for functions. I actually had my rehearsal dinner here 25 years ago for my wedding party, it was amazing, private rooms, great service, great food. It only took me 25 years to write a review, ha ha. This is a place where you can dress up and have a great night out, or just casual shirts and a r-shirt and feel just as comfortable there. Anytime have been here it is always busy, the dining areas as well as the bar is happening. You can enjoy some great food, grab drinks and hang out, it is a good time. My High School friend recommended this place. I was definitely game since I LOVE checking out buffets that I haven't been to. This place definitely did not fail!! Open from 10 to 2 PM. We went on a Sunday, so we were lucky to find free street parking. I was surprised that on the other side of the street, it was only free for one hour on a Sunday!! There's a valet if you want to pay. We got there before 10 am and there was a line already. Once we got inside, I definitely noticed the decor and how tasteful this place was. Definitely old school with the leather seats. There were eight of us, so they had to put two tables together. We all got a mimosa. After two, I couldn't drink anymore. The dining area which contained all the food was nicely done. The food all looked good and displayed nicely. There were plenty of salads to choose from, different types of meat (chicken, sausage, ...), LOVED the cheese bread. The Omelette station was GREAT. I LOVED my omelette. The only thing that I would recommend is salsa. The dessert section was good, but I was SO FULL, I couldn't enjoy it very much. I LOVE churro, but I didn't like theirs because it had a filling. The chocolate cookie was pretty good. There's also fruit if you want something healthy. Our dirty plates got taken away fairly quickly. Our mimosa glasses were also filled quickly. First time dining here.. My son and I came to celebrate the end of his school year.. First off, we didn't have a reservation on a Tuesday evening and this place was packed! We went on a stand by list and waited for about an hour. Killed some time enjoying a cocktail at the very old skool bar which was a cool experience! I want to give this place a higher rating because the food itself was quite good, but the front desk host experience was a total mess. I arrived with a reservation and checked in, but the hosts upfront were incredibly ditzy. They somehow recorded my name completely wrong in their system. Despite having an active reservation, I ended up waiting 20 minutes past my time while they kept mispronouncing my first name and eventually just started calling me by my last name. When they finally figured it out and seated us, there wasn't even a standard "sorry about that" or any acknowledgment of the mix-up. On the bright side, the kitchen knows what it's doing. The famous garlic bread absolutely lives up to the hype, and the prime rib was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Service was excellent from the time I pulled into the Lott (valet parking) I came without a reservation and was seated within 10 minutes . It has that old Hollywood flare with pictures of old movies and movie stars everywhere. There are fireplaces that can lit for a romantic vibe or just to stay warm . The menu has a good variety and you get your food relatively quickly after ordering . If you have kids with you they have a kids menu and provide crayons to color while waiting for your food . My water cup stayed full and I never had to ask for anything it's as though they read my mind . I have to add that I ate a burger and it was delicious very fresh so was the fish . My goodness. I've never reviewed the Smoke House? The Smoke House is one of a few restaurants that I keep on returning to for special occasions for the last - cough- four decades! Yep, I started coming when I was one years old, lol. When planning a very special occasion with out-of-town guests, last week I brought them to the iconic Smoke House. I really hyped up the place. One of my guests read up on the restaurant - declared this is where they filmed LALA Land, and other movies and tv shows. Everyone had high expectations, exceedingly high expectations that were met. Again, I was the hero in planning the perfect evening that everyone throughly enjoyed, from the ambiance, service, drink and food. It was amazing. It has that retro, old school, dark sexy vibe. Especially in the bar. Whenever I go, I ask for the bar ... On some nights they have live music. Love their large leather red booths. I wish I remembered the name of our server that night. He was excellent, patiently, expertly managing our large happy noisy table. I remarked to my boyfriend how fantastic he was. While half of my guests were not regular drinkers, everyone got a cocktail that night, because they saw, and tasted the ones my boyfriend and I got first - a peach martini. Generally my boyfriend does not like sweet martinis but he remembered how much he liked it last time and got it again. I love the way they serve the martinis - they have a name for their special martinis that I can't recall, but the martini comes in a standard martini glass, and a little carafe of extra martini kept cold in a bowl of ice. Love the way they do that! A friend more seasoned drinker of cocktails ordered a regular dirty martini and remarked, "Now, THAT is the way to make a martini!" Of course we got their signature garlic cheese bread to start. Everyone loved it, so we ordered a few more. For dinner, many of us got their signature dish, the Prime Rib. I also got a Cesar Salad because I consider theirs one of the best. Someone at the other end of the table got the Cajun Chicken Fettuccini and was so excited about it, passed it around the entire table to try. The Chicken Piccata was also a big hit. I think the favorite, next to the prime rib was the ribs. Oh they looked so good. I think next time I'll make my boyfriend get the ribs, so I can have some of his as well as my prime rib. I believe the only way I could have topped the experience of having dinner at the Smoke House, was having SUNDAY BRUNCH at the Smoke House. This was something I did lovingly for many years. Came for DineLA! $8 Valet in the attached lot, but you can also park on the street. Read the signs in the neighborhood; some places are permit parking only Monday-Friday until 8p. We see this place all the time driving by on Olive near the WB studios. It's an institution so we tried it out for DineLA! Inside is pretty fancy booths and has an old Hollywood vibe going which is fun. It was pretty busy on a Friday night so they expanded to another area that was a little more drafty. Food was good and we got full pretty quick even for the "smaller" DineLA set menu portion. We got the beef with egg noodles and the surf and turf entrees as well as soup and salad, the half order of garlic cheese bread and cheesecake and chocolate mousse for dessert. For the past 3 years my work has been coming here to celebrate Christmas. Since we work for the entertainment industry, this place is fitting since it has a long history of being a part of Hollywood. First of all, it's located literally across the street from Warner Bros. Studios. Since it is so close to WB, producers, directors, writers, and actors have had business meals here. Meanwhile, the restaurant itself has been featured in several TV shows and movies, like "Argo". One of the most distinctive features of this restaurant are its red leather booths. The art on the walls are of old Hollywood. It's nice that they decorate the place inside and out for the holidays. I even saw a cabinet with Hanukkah decorations. Since my work reserves the private room right off the entrance, I've never sat in the iconic red leather booths, nor have I ever been to the far nooks and crannies that I've seen posted online. Like I know there's outdoor seating as well, but I've never so much as had a glimpse of it in person. I also know the restaurant has a bigger menu, but our private room comes with a much smaller menu and it's the same offerings every year: We get appetizers which include ribs, artichokes, salad, and cheesy bread. The cheesy bread here is different in that the top is crunchy, like they pounded Cheetos to a powder and baked it on top. Since I'm vegetarian, I always order the same thing, the one vegetarian dish from the smaller menu: pasta. The pasta is ok. It has red sauce and a few vegetables. This year, I was the last person served because although steak takes longer to cook than pasta, this is a smokehouse, after all, so the steaks came out sooner. At least my pasta arrived nice and hot.  For dessert, it's cheesecake with a strawberry sauce drizzled on top. It's dense and has the right amount of sweetness. We also have a 2 drink minimum each. This year, the waiters were very attentive about making sure our glasses were filled with water. When I tried to catch the waitress's eye to ask for something, I was pretty much ignored, but she was quick to attend to my boss who would ask for things on my behalf. In a prior year, I remember one of the waiters carelessly plopping the cheesecake on the plates. This year, they were more careful. One of my bosses gave me his leftover sides which included a baked potato and green beans. Eaten together with my leftover pasta, it all tasted really good and I got another 2 meals out of them. I wish that for the vegetarian option they would do that instead: pasta, baked potato, and green beans on one plate. The pasta alone, although a decent big size, is just ok. I also wish they did tours because like I said, I've always only been regulated to that one private room in the front. I would love to see the rest of the place. This year, I planned to wander on my own, but it was so packed with people that just trying to get to the restroom required squeezing through everyone in the lobby. Plus, I don't know if you're allowed to wander around. To me it seemed like you're assigned your section and that's where you stay. For parking, it's $8 for valet, but cash only. So the Hollywood history is great. The food, especially if you're a vegetarian with only the scaled down menu to work with, is ok. The quality of service varies. The decorations, especially around the holidays are nice, but be prepared for shoulder to shoulder people packed in the lobby if you are coming around the holidays for dinner. read more

I want to start off by saying, Smoke House is truly an upscale restaurant and bar/lounge. I chose it for my birthday dinner, after all! There is much good to say about it, and a few things the discerning restaurant-goer should be aware of. Let's start with the good stuff! The restaurant itself is comfortable, stylish, dimly lit (in a classy way), and well decorated. You'll see many photos of celebrities whom I can only assume have at one point or another dined at this establishment. And given its location, I'd say there's a good chance that if you keep your eyes peeled, you are likely to spot some! The service is professional and courteous, and as prompt as can be expected, being a well-known and popular place to go for a semi-luxury dining experience. The prices are reasonable, and the food quality is very good. They have a decent wine and beer list, cocktails available on request. For my BD dinner, I chose a nice ribeye steak (rare of course), served with a baked sweet potato and house steamed veggies. My dinner date had the filet mignon, with baked potato and creamed asparagus. The steak was cooked to my request, and was well-seared and seasoned nicely. The sweet potato was utterly delicious. My lovely date had no complaints with her meal, other than that there were no toppings brought for the baked potato. Couple of things they could have done better: 1. The steamed veggies were underdone, and cold. 2. It took my date actually leaving the table to hunt down our server in order to request the toppings for her potato. (I know, it should have been me! But she's a go-getter.) 3. When we called ahead to find out what the dress policy was, we were advised that it was semi-formal: no shorts, no sandals or flip-flops, collared shirt, etc. When we arrived, we saw guests being served in all of the above and worse. PRO TIP 1: Be sure to make a reservation. We went on a Thursday evening, and there were a significant number of parties waiting. We were eventually seated about a half hour after our reservation time. PRO TIP 2: Be prepared for valet parking. It's required if you want to park at the restaurant, and it costs $8. Also, people tend to walk back and forth through the valet area without warning and without looking. PRO TIP 3: The restaurant has a 2-hour maximum time limit for your visit (they leave a little card on the table to advise guests of this). Arguably, this policy allows them to serve more guests, but if I'm honest, it made me feel more like a number than a guest. "Was seated promptly but it appeared my table was accidentally missed for a period of time. The food was semi warm but couldn't find our server to have them take it back but I guess that was probably for the best. But still delicious! Great service and consistently quality food. The smokehouse one of a kind. Its location across from Warner Bros. The ambiance is very old Hollywood with all the pictures from classic old Hollywood. Walt Disney, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, are just a few of the classic pictures you'll see when you first enter. I've been coming for years for special occasions but I didn't know they also have a pretty great lunch menu. Their steaks, creamed spinach, salads are all really tasty. We had my birthday family dinner tonight at Smoke House in Burbank. Our family has been coming here for years so many times for birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and all kinds of special occasions -- We all love this restaurant. All of their steaks are delicious, the wine is great, and every dish we've ever ordered has been consistently amazing. The service is always incredibly friendly, and the restaurant has such a nice ambience. Tonight was no exception -- everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the staff was very kind and attentive. But, I wanted a Fruit Tart cake from Porto's, so my brothers brought it. After dinner, the waiter brought it out, plated it, and cut it for us, but they did charge a $25 cake cutting fee. They also automatically added a $69.66 service fee. However, the service was wonderful, the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and we had the most lovely, happy family time together. Great food, great service! Came in for lunch yesterday with my wife and sat at the bar. I had the Monte Cristo and fries. The sandwich was one of the best I've had. Not standard deli meat. Not grilled bread. Not greasy. Hand carved meats and lightly fried to perfection! My wife really enjoyed her beef stroganoff. Amazing flavor, quality beef and enough for two full meals! We also got a half order of their famous garlic bread which lived up to its reputation. This restaurant was so cool. Old school steakhouse with an appropriate Hollywood vibe. We were worried until we were shown where the magic is! There were so many options and every time I went back I discovered something new that I didn't see before. Tri tip, turkey, ham, salmon, mussels, oysters, crab legs, custom omelette station, waffles, crepes, that famous cheese bread and so much more! Unlimited champagne/mimosas! My family and I had made dinner reservations at the Smokehouse for a party of 10 following my stepdaughter's high school ceremony. As we arrived, I was the first to check in with the hostess. My stepdaughter arrived last, bringing her girlfriend along, which added an extra guest to our party. In every restaurant I've ever been to, I've always been able to squeeze in an extra person. However, when they learned it was my daughter's girlfriend, they were adamant that there was no way they could accommodate an extra guest, even if they wanted to. This created a crisis for us as a party of 11 with dinner reservations for 10, three valeted vehicles, and no flexibility on their part. I decided to give up my seat so my stepdaughter could have her girlfriend there, opting to eat elsewhere alone. My father-in-law, who had flown in from out of town for this special occasion, didn't want me to eat alone, so he insisted on joining me. Now, our party had reduced to nine people, including other extended family members who had flown in for this moment. Upon being seated at a different steakhouse and ordering my food, my wife texted me to inform me that our party had been seated at a table for 12. The rest of our party was extremely upset because this was never communicated to us beforehand. They had been unwaveringly stating that there was no possible way they could seat an 11th person, so we decided not to fight it out. Instead, we figured out other arrangements. Things happen, and we knew we had brought in a curveball. They said "no," and that's their right to do. It's unfortunate, but we accepted our fate. The entire experience at The Smokehouse was a complete disaster, and their management that night was utterly unsympathetic to our inability to communicate effectively. As a result, my stepdaughter's graduation night dinner was ruined, as she put it. Perhaps the table for 12 was simply a lucky draw in their rotation, or maybe they were trying to surprise and delight a party they had already dismissed as impossible, like we would have stuck around after that. Regardless, we were told "no," and we accepted that bringing an extra guest was too much to ask. We were left feeling defeated and searching for a plan B. As a Burbank resident who has frequented The Smokehouse numerous times, this trip represents my final one. The party I was attending was the last one they would be hosting, and it was a complete exercise in terrible customer service. Their staff set a negative impression that lesbian couples aren't welcome, which I had to work hard to diffuse. Fortunately, I discovered better options nearby. After leaving The Smokehouse, I had a wonderful dinner and made it back home to relax 90 minutes before the rest of my family's slow dinner service was finished. The moral of the story is this: if The Smokehouse says "there is no possible way," stick around and fight it out. Apparently, they'll accommodate after creating panic, disappointment, and defeat. Don't let them ruin your party. read more
