This establishment is one of the oldest in Glendale. It has a Polynesian theme and decor. They have a bar but in all honesty it's Diner food. I do not recommend the food at this establishment. There were 4 of us. We ordered 4 different entrees and several appetizers and everything was mediocre at best. The baked potato wasn't even baked well. See the pictures posted. The service was good but not the food.

We came for an early Valentines because we had childcare the week before. We didn't make a reservation and didn't realize the wait would be that long. Good thing we could be seated immediately at the bar area, which also has tables and chairs and has the full menu and full service. The inside decor is tiki themed which is fun. Although they were busy and the bar was packed, our server was very attentive and friendly. I'm glad we stayed to eat at the bar because food and drinks were delicious and service was great. Food: - Side: famous garlic bread - it was a lot bigger than we expected! It's a full thick loaf and could have been shared with 4-5 people. The topping is unique and tasty. - Appetizer (dinner special): mussels in garlic wine sauce. The sauce was so delicious that we dipped our garlic bread in it. Definitely recommend. It was a great starter that didn't make us overly full. - Entree (dinner special): I had the sea bass with a mushroom cream sauce. This was the only dish that wasn't that great. The fish was dry and hard and the sauce was okay. I chose the side of snap peas and that was delicious! - Entree: my husband had the 16 oz ribeye steak. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. He chose spinach as a side and it was so good. Drinks: - Macademia nut chi chi - so delicious! The macademia nut liqueur was tasty and fragrant. Loved this tropical drink and would get it again for sure. - my husband got a Diet Coke and it was watery the first time. I think their soda machine wasn't working well. Our server brought us another one, which was better but still slightly off.

Was finally able to check out this place in Glendale. There is parking around the back near Porto's. I went with a group of 4 on a Friday night and were able to get a table right away. The special that night was the pot roast and it was so good. They also give you bread and a soup or a salad.

The tiki vibe is great! All the staff were super friendly, and make sure you get there early for the prime rib! We got there too late, but the steaks were still fire. Thanks Rueben for taking care of us and being so nice

Damon is one of my families favorite restaurants that we've been going to for decades. The food is absolutely delicious especially if you come on weekends and can get the prime rib. Service is super friendly and makes the house salad table side. The ambience is really fun and they have a large fish tank which my baby nephew is always obsessed with drinks are good and everything is well priced for the portion sizes. Please give this place a shot if you haven't already!

Food was good. Especially the steak. The salad has been the same for over 50 years. The bread could use more cheese. Love the hostesses and moat waiters are nice. It can be a bit loud. The hardest part is the sewer system i could smell as we walked in the door. It is apparently a problem for the whole block. The city or all the businesses need to change out the main line. I bet it hasnt been changed since they switched to this location when I was a child. I am 66.. but not a good odor for a fancy restaurant nor Porto's next door. The owner seriously needs to get the city plumber to fix it properly. Love Bruce the puffer fish.

We met up with family for a post-Christmas dinner and gift exchange. Easy reservation and we were seated at a large circular table which was perfect for our party of 7. It's been about 15 years since we'd been here and I love the familiarity and nostalgic ambiance this spot provides. The drinks, entrees, twice baked potatoes, and delicious bread were as good as ever!

Had a very bad experience with a lousy waitress on my Birthday, going on two years ago. We thought we'd give the place another try, seeing how we Use to really like this place, for 30 years as a matter of fact. Well who saunters up to our table but the same miserable woman! Asked if we wanted cocktails, to which we replied no, we never saw her again, she knew us, so we left. I hate losing a place we liked due to a bad employee.

DELI-STYLE PASTRAMI with Swiss cheese, coleslaw, & Russian dressing on warm rye. If you look close, you can see the shoestring fries behind.

The Last Real Refuge on Brand Blvd: Why Damon's Pastrami is the King of Glendale Let's just cut to the chase--the pastrami at Damon's is ridiculously good. In a city like Los Angeles, where we treat smoked meat with the kind of reverence usually reserved for religious relics, that's a dangerous thing to say. I'm a fan of the legends--Langer's, The Hat, you name it--but I'm telling you, this is better. It's a bold claim, but once you've sat in a booth under a thatched roof with a plate of this meat in front of you, you'll understand. A Time Capsule of Tiki and Tradition Tucked away at 317 N Brand Blvd, Damon's Steak House is a glorious, unashamed throwback. It's been a Glendale fixture since 1937, and walking through those doors is like stepping into a mid-century fever dream. We're talking full-tilt tiki: bamboo-lined walls, vibrant tropical murals of island life, and dim, amber-hued lanterns that make you feel like you're hiding out from the world in a Polynesian hut. There is a soul to this place that you can't manufacture. It's in the giant, glowing salt-water fish tanks and the outrigger canoes hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere is managed by a team that actually gives a damn; the service is exceptional and attentive, delivered by a staff decked out in floral Hawaiian Bermuda shirts that signal you've officially left the stress of the city at the door. It's a masterclass in hospitality that invites you to order a Mai Tai in a ceramic tiki mug, forget what year it is, and settle in for a long, slow lunch. The Main Event: A Pastrami Masterpiece While they've built their name on "Thick Steaks and Tropical Drinks," the real secret weapon here is the pastrami. This isn't just a sandwich; it's an event. The meat is sliced perfectly--not too thin, not too thick--and piled high with a peppery bark that hits all the right notes. Most importantly, it is tender as hell--almost melt-in-your-mouth tender. It is a masterpiece of construction: loaded with melted Swiss cheese, tangy coleslaw, and a generous swipe of Russian dressing, all held together by warm, toasted rye. It's a visceral, messy, beautiful thing. This isn't just about the sandwich, though; it's the whole spread. It arrives with their signature chopped salad--a local legend in its own right--or a bowl of soup, alongside a mountain of crisp shoestring fries. Compared to the heavyweights across LA, Damon's version has a specific kind of magic. It's the underdog that shows up and knocks the champion out in the first round. Beyond the Sandwich The menu runs deep with those retro-steakhouse classics that satisfy a very specific kind of craving. You'll find their famous garlic toast, thick-cut steaks, and the kind of salads that remind you why "old school" became a compliment in the first place. And of course, you cannot leave without exploring the bar. The drinks are cold, strong, and served with a garnish of pure nostalgia. The Verdict In a world that's constantly trying to be "new" and "minimalist," Damon's is a loud, colorful, and deliciously defiant reminder of what makes dining out great. It's not just a meal; it's a sanctuary. If you find yourself in Glendale and you haven't experienced this pastrami yet, you're doing it wrong. Go for the kitsch, stay for the meat, and thank me later.

Wonderful staff taking our birthday pictures!

This place was perfect! From the initial greet to being seated to the food, everything was fantastic. We had a larger party for my birthday, and they handled everything perfectly. The Damon's team checked in with me to make sure all my guests were going to be present, and had everything ready for me when everyone arrived. The bar staff was amazing, pretty sure her name was Roxy, and she made everyone's drink with passion and enthusiasm. All food was delivered together for my large party, and everything was at a perfect temp. We all understand that juggling 15 guests is difficult, but this team handled it with ease. All finished plates were taken away in a timely fashion, and the payment was handled in a timely fashion. My party was held on the 31st of May, and the entire staff had a great time interacting with everyone with my group. This establishment was fantastic for me and my group, I couldn't be happier on how everything was handled. Thank you for everything!

This place is such a great vibe! Any restaurant that has been around since 1937 can't be bad. I haven't been here in a long time but it did not disappoint! Ruben our server was so attentive and really funny!! The food and service was amazing! The place was totally packed!! My prime rib was cooked to perfection!! The prices are so reasonable! Plus with most dinners you get a salad and a side! Highly recommend it!!

It's Friday nite and I was invited to Jack's 50th They picked one of their favorite spots! I haven't been to Damon's in ages! After all these years, it still looks the same! To me, pure nostalgia with the old school Polynesian tiki style vibe! Always delicious drinks! Loved my blue Hawaiian and rounds of old fashions were dished out. Always a wonderful spot with exceptional service! We ordered delicious appetizers: calamari, coconut shrimp, potato skins, and the famous garlic bread! Tbh, I've never been a fan of garlic bread, but I'll never turn Damon's down!! It's just soft, fluffy, with the not so over-powerful garlic flavor! It's pure goodness! Damon's is a place where memories are made! One of my forgotten favorites! I'll be back again soon

Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Tiki cocktails have expanded beyond rum into smokier tequila and mezcal drinks, which are more my speed. Lucky Tiki takes planning. You'll probably need a reservation weeks ahead and yes, they'll politely kick you out after 2 hours. These drinks are delicious and designed to ruin your decision-making skills. Worth it. Uber home, obviously. This spot is "hidden" in a bowling alley, and inside you'll find retro lighting and decor and tiki cocktails. One drink came with bubbles, another arrived flaming, and one to a soundtrack of thunder and lightning. It's part cocktail bar, part performance, and the staff is committed to the bit. Once a month our run crew, Pasadena Pub Runners, meet up on a Friday in Old Pasadena for a few miles and make a stop at a local pub, bar, or restaurant. Every month we support a new location. Our July location was Tiki B's. We had never heard of it and had no clue it's been hiding in the lower level of Barney's Beanery off Colorado Blvd. this whole time. The reviews made it sound like a dirty, smelly, dive bar with a lack luster tiki vibe. We were honestly all about it being so bad that it was good. At least for shits and giggles. We ran 2 miles before making our stop at Barney's. No cover charge. The hostess directed us to the stairs that led to Tiki B's. The bar was fairly empty except for a handful of other patrons. It was semi dark but there was sufficient lighting from the faux ocean windows decor and tiki lamps along the walls. The DJ was setting up for the evening's open mic night. No bathroom smells for us. We walked in with 20 plus people all ready to love/hate the place. We were served pitchers of water right away while we perused the menu. The waitress clearly saw were had been running. Apologies for bringing in a sweaty crowd haha. Most of us ordered on to two drinks. A few people ordered food. We enjoyed our drinks, took a couple photos, and discussed our take on the place. Pleasantly surprised was the overall take away. We were a little disappointed that we didn't hate the place since we had expected the worst kind of dive bar. I rather liked it. I didn't have a mixed drink but others enjoyed them. I suspect the poor reviews are mostly from tiki fanatics. But us regular folks took it at face value and enjoyed ourselves. Bartenders were nice, attentive, and welcoming. The beers on tap were fairly priced. The menu I held was not sticky. It was a fun spot that you wouldn't expect to find in Old Pasadena, let alone underneath Barney's Beanery. I would come back with a big group for drinks and karaoke.
