This place is Old Skool, probably one of the oldest restaurants in Glendale. We have been coming to Damon's now for about 10 years now to celebrate my Son's Birthday, our annual tradition.. I would have to say that over all the years the food and service has always been consistent. We always have a large party of 15+ and the staff is always willing to accommodate us every time. I usually always order my staple coconut fried shrimp, always cooked to perfection and jumbo size is an understatement.. They are of gargantuan size and the entree includes around eight of them. My family and I came here for an early dinner. The restaurant is spacious and much larger than I expected! There's plenty of seating and a bar section. We came with our little one so we were tucked away in a side booth, which we much preferred so as not to disturb other guests. lol! The staff were all very kind and attentive. They checked in on us regularly. The food isn't something to boast about taste wise but the portions are large! We were pleased w the amount of food we got for the price. I got fish and chips and thought it was easily shareable. My husband got a burger. My kid got tenders and Mac and cheese. Fantastic Vibe, great service and the food was great. The drinks were good and since it is Hawaii/ Polynesian themed, a Mai Tai was in order. We followed this up with Calamari, Pastrami Sandwich and some shrimp. All were delicious. This is the type of place that reminds you that modern is not always better. We came for an early Valentines because we had childcare the week before. We didn't make a reservation and didn't realize the wait would be that long. Good thing we could be seated immediately at the bar area, which also has tables and chairs and has the full menu and full service. The inside decor is tiki themed which is fun. Although they were busy and the bar was packed, our server was very attentive and friendly. I'm glad we stayed to eat at the bar because food and drinks were delicious and service was great. Food: - Side: famous garlic bread - it was a lot bigger than we expected! It's a full thick loaf and could have been shared with 4-5 people. The topping is unique and tasty. - Appetizer (dinner special): mussels in garlic wine sauce. The sauce was so delicious that we dipped our garlic bread in it. Definitely recommend. It was a great starter that didn't make us overly full. - Entree (dinner special): I had the sea bass with a mushroom cream sauce. This was the only dish that wasn't that great. The fish was dry and hard and the sauce was okay. I chose the side of snap peas and that was delicious! - Entree: my husband had the 16 oz ribeye steak. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. He chose spinach as a side and it was so good. Drinks: - Macademia nut chi chi - so delicious! The macademia nut liqueur was tasty and fragrant. Loved this tropical drink and would get it again for sure. - my husband got a Diet Coke and it was watery the first time. I think their soda machine wasn't working well. We visited this restaurant with our children and were looking forward to a nice family dinner. Unfortunately, the guests seated behind us were extremely loud and used profanity throughout their conversation, with nearly every sentence containing offensive language. We understand that a restaurant cannot completely control what customers say. However, after we politely brought the issue to the manager's attention, no effort was made to address the situation, speak with the guests, or offer us a different table. We felt our concerns were completely dismissed. What disappointed us most was not the behavior of the other diners, but the lack of customer service and concern from management. As a family with young children, we expected a more professional response. Sadly, this experience left a very negative impression, and we will think twice before returning. In the past, this was one of my husband's favorite steakhouses, but we were made to wait 45 minutes, even though we had a reservation FAR in advance before Father's Day! Asked to sit in the bar, my husband and I both ordered the Trader Vics Mai Tai. Eventually we were shown to a booth for 4 that I noticed had been unoccupied since we arrived!! The host had continually been seating people who arrived after us, and I felt becuase of my anglo background, I was not as welcome as other patrons. Damon is one of my families favorite restaurants that we've been going to for decades. The food is absolutely delicious especially if you come on weekends and can get the prime rib. Service is super friendly and makes the house salad table side. The ambience is really fun and they have a large fish tank which my baby nephew is always obsessed with drinks are good and everything is well priced for the portion sizes. Food was good. Especially the steak. The salad has been the same for over 50 years. The bread could use more cheese. Love the hostesses and moat waiters are nice. It can be a bit loud. The hardest part is the sewer system i could smell as we walked in the door. It is apparently a problem for the whole block. The city or all the businesses need to change out the main line. I bet it hasnt been changed since they switched to this location when I was a child. I am 66.. but not a good odor for a fancy restaurant nor Porto's next door. The Damon's team checked in with me to make sure all my guests were going to be present, and had everything ready for me when everyone arrived. The bar staff was amazing, pretty sure her name was Roxy, and she made everyone's drink with passion and enthusiasm. All food was delivered together for my large party, and everything was at a perfect temp. We all understand that juggling 15 guests is difficult, but this team handled it with ease. All finished plates were taken away in a timely fashion, and the payment was handled in a timely fashion. My party was held on the 31st of May, and the entire staff had a great time interacting with everyone with my group. It's Friday nite and I was invited to Jack's 50th They picked one of their favorite spots! I haven't been to Damon's in ages! After all these years, it still looks the same! To me, pure nostalgia with the old school Polynesian tiki style vibe! Always delicious drinks! Loved my blue Hawaiian and rounds of old fashions were dished out. I have been going to Damon's for years now, but I think they have lost their touch. I went there with my girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is great--I have no complaints about that--but the most important part is the food. The steak and salmon were overcooked, so we did not enjoy them. We also ordered edamame, and they served us pale green beans. We tasted them just to make sure it wasn't only the appearance, but they were sour. Why would they even attempt to serve this? The servers were attentive, so no issues there. However, I'm not sure if I would come back. Prices have gone up, but the food quality has gone down. read more

Hawaii is well known for amazing, delicious barbecue and that just wasn't what we found at Damon's. For starters, we didn't realize the garlic bread was a charge. Our waitress asked if we wanted bread or garlic bread. Of course, we should've asked, but as bread is complimentary at most restaurants it didn't even cross my mind! At most, I would've paid $3 for the bread. $10 is astronomical. The bbq combo platter was okay, though the bbq sauce dumped on top tasted cheap and very sweet. I would've preferred to add my own rather than having a pre fixed amount. The coulotte steak was tough and stringy and well past the medium rare I ordered. My parents used to take me here when I was a kid, I loved the aquariums and weird dark decor. The place has not changed, same salad and steaks along with some garlic bread and if you like a good mai tai you will love this place, plenty of parking in back and super friendly staff. Three stars for the ribeye. The salad was zero stars. It was a pile of chopped brown lettuce that was way past its expiry date. On top of that was a huge pile of canned beets. The plate was so small it was impossible to keep the salad on, if in fact you would eat it. We chose not to. It's usually tossed at the table with a orangish French dressing. It was drowning in it from what I could see. The server brought us replacement salad that was the same with a little newer lettuce on the top only. No thank you. For $63.00 per meal, you could do so much better! The steak was pretty tasty with garlic butter but it mine was too rare, not medium rare and my husband's was medium rare, not medium. The twice baked potato had no cheese on top and a little dry. The place was rather dingy and desperately needing a remodel. My husband and I came here for our annual Christmas Eve dinner date tradition. We both love historic places and tiki themes, so I was excited to try Damon's despite hearing that it was dated and not at all trendy. It's been around since 1937! When we walked in, it looked like Santa Claus and all of his reindeer threw up all over the restaurant.... totally decked out in all of the lights and cheesiest holiday decor just like I hoped for! The restaurant had lost our reservation and had been having a similar issue with other diners, but still sat us without any problem. We shared calamari and garlic bread, my husband ordered a steak with a twice-baked potato, and I ordered the mahi mahi with creamed corn. My fish was a little dry and overcooked, but the steak was fantastic.... why do I always order non-steak items at a steakhouse and regret it? He definitely ordered better than I did, and I look forward to coming back for a steak of my own. Specialty drinks are the chi chi and the mai tai (which tasted almost identical and seemed to be the same drink but orange juice vs pineapple). They were the kind of drinks that didn't taste alcoholic but would probably sneak up on you. They also have a decent wine and beer list... not too many options, but some well-known labels and very reasonable prices. A server tossed our side salads next to our table, and it ended up being a delightful salad with beets and a tangy dressing. When we were boxing up our leftovers to go, he came back and said that he noticed that we enjoyed our salads and asked if we would like some to go, for free.
