Maybe it doesn't have an Insta ready wall for fancy pics but it's a hidden gem that's been run by the same award winning chef for decades. There are pictures of him with generations of famous people from the world over who eat here so that speak speaks for itself. Also, he must be over 80 and he still greets and seats every customer personally. The place has been around a while so one might consider it a bit "rustic" and sure there's a wait, but that's because this place has stood the test of time and still turns out incredible food and service. We've been coming here for years and came back after 4 years to celebrate a birthday. We were seated right on time, and it's always nice seeing the owner present and involved. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point. The service and food were just okay, and the "miso soup" was actually plain chicken broth, which was disappointing and unexpected. Overall, it didn't feel like the same experience we used to enjoy. One of the original teppanyakis in LA before it became popular! Much cleaner than Benihana and since it's smaller, more detailed customer service. It's still run by a Japanese family and feels more closer to a homey Japanese-American mom and pop. All the little photos and drawings give it a nice touch. Food was great and portions were generous. However, if you like medium rare food or fat on your steak, make sure to ask for rare and to keep the fat. The norm I think is most people want really lean and well done. My fam prefers stuff more rare and if you like it rare too, keep that in mind. The grill also contributes to cooking the food more well done. Visitor from Hawaii. Been to my fair share of teppanyaki places where they cook in front of you. Made us feel like me and my family were at home. Love the wall of fame of Mr. Mori and the celebs celebs. Mr. Mori and his team take care. Food was great, service was amazing, vibes were perfect. Came here on vacation as we just stumbled upon it as it was close to our hotel. It didnt disappoint. Prices are very reasonable and the food and service of the chefs and staff were great. This Teppan restaurant is a very traditional and nostalgic. They don't even make sushi here. They have your basic Teppan Style cooking. It's a mom-and-pop location and needs few upgrades. Let me start off by saying in their defense, my party of 6 did not have reservations and it was Valentine's Day. We waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, which wasn't a problem because we had a birthday girl who chose this dinner, no biggie. However, once we were seated at 8-ish our cook didn't get to our table until an hour later. Sure they brought us drinks, salad and miso soup (which was lackluster) so we had to add a bit of soy sauce. Which also wasn't a big deal. Very cozy ambience when you walk in. What I love about Mori is that the place itself (both interior and exterior) doesn't feel modernized. The place was established in 1989, and it definitely felt that way walking in. The food was fantastic and the chef was hilarious. The quality of the service was also commendable. Wow -- Hidden Gem in Glendale! If you're in the mood for some of the best hibachi you've ever had, I would definitely check this place out. We were greeted by the super nice Mr. Mori when we arrived and were seated immediately. Within 5 minutes of being seated, they brought out a fresh salad and the best miso soup I think I have ever had as an appetizer. For my main protein, I ordered the chicken and shrimp, but we also ordered the steak and lobster. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the shrimp was amazing! "More butter, more better!" The chicken was perfectly cooked, still juicy. The lobster tasted fresh, and all of the food was done cooking and on the plate in a timely fashion. The coke they have comes in a plastic bottle, so you get more than you would from a can and if you don't finish it you can take it home. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. There were people celebrating a birthday and you could tell they go there a lot. They seemed super satisfied with their meal and left really happy. The seasoning they used basically was salt and pepper. I tasted no other flavors. I think this is why I was not a huge fan of this place. The chef was nice. He saw I wasn't eating part of my steak because it was too raw and asked if I wanted it cooked more, I said that would be great. He made it right. I would not return. The lack of flavor is disappointing. It was too much money for what it is. The parking is free. It is a weird inner lot right next to the restaurant. I have been craving teppanyaki for a while now and i found this place to try. I finally went and it was a good experience. We were seated quickly and got serviced fast as well. Our server and cook were delightful and they seem to enjoy what they do at work which is nice to experience. The food and the portions were good. From the filet to the lobster, everything is always perfect! My mom loves the seafood combo, my husband orders the same . The ambiance is exactly as it has been since he opened its doors in 1988. A literal time capsule of my childhood when I first ate there with my parents in the early 90s.
