Sushi Corner is hands down my favorite sushi spot in Glendale. The staff is amazing and always makes you feel like family. It's a clean, friendly, and welcoming place, and the quality of the fish is extraordinary. The sashimi literally melts in your mouth. I've tried plenty of other sushi places, and nothing compares, especially for the quality and prices. The chefs do an amazing job and are always consistent. Sometimes when I can't make up my mind, they'll even surprise me with a special roll, and they never disappoint! A few of my favorites are the Lemon Roll, which is light and refreshing. I've had lemon rolls at other places where the lemon makes the whole roll taste bitter, but theirs is perfectly balanced. The Black Pearl is out of this world, especially if you're a salmon lover. And their Crispy Rice Roll is something I haven't really seen anywhere else. Plenty of places have crispy rice, but here they actually make it into a roll. The draft Sapporo is always ice cold and amazing--it's the perfect drink to have with the sushi. Amazing quality, great prices, and even better people. My date had the spicy tuna and edamame. I had the GLENDY roll and calamari. We both ordered Saporra. The GLENDY roll was fresh and delicious you can taste the love in the roll. The flavors are jam packed in every little roll. I really enjoyed it. The calamari was crunchy which I like, I just wished I asked for a slice of lemon because I like to put lemon juice on my calamari. The service was great, the lady, asked us if we wanted anything else or if we needed waters whenever she went from table to table. The ambiance is small but plenty of spaces to sit maybe about 11 tables? I want to come back to try other rolls because of the names of the rolls. It brings a smile or a giggle to one's face. Wow. So freaking tasty! We got the Alaskan, blue crab maki rolls and the Black Pearl specialty roll. Everything was really yummy and we felt that the portions were great. They were able to accommodate my shrimp allergy no problem. We both like our sauces and the Black Pearl had top notch sauces. Sushi Corner, as the name suggests, is a local sushi place located in the north-west edge of Glendale. The Corner offers great sushi, a cozy interior, and excellent service at an appropriate price. My children and I came early on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was surprisingly empty, and we were seated promptly. We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen ($18) which was excellent. Rich, creamy broth, fully immersed noodles, and the accompanying egg and two pork chashu pieces, which were especially fatty. The broth for this Tonkotsu was above average for the many versions I've encountered over the years. Accompanying it we got the Salmon teriyaki bowl ($16), which included a quite massive piece of salmon (see photo), cooked perfectly above a bed of rice and a few vegetables on the side. I got the spider roll ($14) a tempura shrimp roll which nicely balanced the texture of the crispy shrimp with the softness of the other parts. It was sadly small at five pieces but quite good and each piece was fairly large. The interior is cozy, clean, and compact, consistent with the corner title, welcoming, and unpretentious. The ambiance seems a slight step up from your typical strip mall sushi place, no doubt utilizing the three walls with windows to maximize light and warmth. The food was prompt, and service friendly, attending to our many needs and requests - pointing out when I forgot my to-go bag, taking dishes and cleaning after my messy children, answering my kid's (polite, but frequent) requests, and even supplying us with a small dish of sprinkles with these adorable little imported packaged Hokkaido soft service ice cream cones ($5). I am especially impressed when such great service comes from someone whose native language is clearly not English - this type of warmth from a traditionally reserved culture is palpable and real. Probably some of the best service I've received at a restaurant like this in some time. Unpretentious, warm, friendly, and with good food, Sushi corner is a local gem that stands above its peers, and highly recommended for anyone looking for Japanese in the area. Sushi Corner has the best happy hour (Mon-Fri, 5-6:30PM) in Glendale! In addition to their happy hour, they have an extensive menu for everything from sushi to appetizers to hot food. The staff are always very nice and welcoming, and my husband loves getting beer during the happy hour and otoro nigiri. Chef Bar surprised me with a beautiful premium chirashi bowl loaded with bluefin tuna,uni, yellowtail, salmon, squid, octopus, sweet shrimp, and fresh scallops. Service was exceptional too. Our waitress, nicknamed "Milk," was super friendly and gave us great service from start to finish. The yellowtail jalapeño and toro sashimi are absolute must-tries; fresh, flavorful, and perfect in every way. They also had something I've never heard of before called a mango roll, which is essentially mango slices on top of rolls, and this was awesome (interesting blend of flavors). We also had the Yuzu-flavored soju, which had a great citrus/lemony kick. The plum wine was a little on the sweet side for me, but still tasty overall. Still our fave sushi place! I think my favorite thing about Sushi Corner is their consistency. Whether we dine in or pick up, the food is always just as good, packaged well, and the udon is HOT. Faves: Lemon roll, salmon sushi, full moon, dark angel, dynamite appetizer, spicy tuna, fresh wasabi (yes they have the real deal you can order on the side), shrimp tempura, udon. Their lunch specials are a fantastic deal, too, and the thai iced tea is darn good. The inside is cute, bathrooms are clean, and my son loves watching the TV they have youtube baking videos playing. The other TV almost always has sports on. They play music at a nice soft volume too; loud enough to hear the lyrics, but not so loud you can't have a good conversation with your table. The wait staff is always friendly, food is out quickly, and my husband has never had an issue with his food allergy in the dozens of orders we've eaten here since they opened. Me and my friends love it here, it has a homey ambiance, but a really good spot for Fancied up sushi rolls, and great appetizers. They have a lot of variety on their menu. They now have photos of all the rolls on the menu so you can see what they look like and it's pretty impressive! The quality and consistency is always there as I've been coming for years.
