    Truffle Shoyu Ramen

R101 is a cozy ramen spot, conveniently within walking distance from Glendale Galleria. It's a sleeper location because even on a weekday 2-3pm, the place was full! But service is quick and friendly, so thankfully not too much of a walk. I got the truffle shoyu ramen (with an addition of an egg, which is unfortunately extra), and the truffle aroma is delightfully strong. Good if you're a fan of truffle! If not, opt for the regular shoyu. The broth is flavorful and the noodles are cooked well -- but, I did get quite thirsty after finishing my bowl. Perhaps sodium in the broth? Other than the egg not included, the other toppings in the bowl are delightful. Overall worth a visit if you're in the Glendale area and looking for food to eat!

Service is terrible- kicked us out 10 minutes after giving us out food so we had to ask for to go containers. Food is still good.

Whenever we feel lazy driving to Little Tokyo for some authentic tasting ramen, R101 in Glendale has been our go to. We first discovered this restaurant through online ordering during the start of the Covid pandemic. Every time we ordered here since then, the food and service have always been consistent. I highly recommend this place to get your ramen fix. No other ramen place in Glendale can taste as good as this!

On a Friday, made the drive in LA traffic out to Burbank. Not far, distance-wise but when it comes to LA traffic, IYKYK. I know the area as I know people who live nearby so I also took a chance with parking. It's a tiny lot for this plaza and I've never been able to find a spot. Until my most recent visit. Pulled into the lot and all three spots in front were open. I should have went and bought a lottery ticket after dinner. Service has always been great. Attentive and friendly. Even when busy. I think it's because of the layout. Inside, it's outward facing counters with one big communal like table in the middle. Staff just have to come out from behind the cooking area/cash register and can easily make rounds. As the self-proclaimed Ramen Junkie - If I don't like a Ramen spot, I don't go back. I've been here a few times. See pics. Love the rich broth and al dente noodles. It's the thinner noodles btw. I like how the appetizers are prepared fresh and served hot. And I like to get there in time for Happy Hour. Discounted apps, beer and sake. There are closer Ramen spots to both work an home but I don't mind making the trek out, even in traffic. I guess you can say I like R101 that much. There are people I won't do this for.

SERVICE - 5 STARS Staff was friendly. Good customer service. Waiters were quick to get us water and take our order. The food came out in less than 15 mins. LOCATION - 4 STARS Knocking one star down because parking was terrible. Spent a good 10-15 mins looking for street parking. The place itself is nice and has good amount of seating FOOD - 4.5 STARS Veggie Egg Rolls - 3 STARS The outside of the egg rolls were so crisp yet light however the inside felt soggy. The veggies felt like a thick puree. Didn't really like them. The sweet & sour sauce it came with was too thick too. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - 4 STARS The broth was really great. Lots of flavor in the broth. I had the pork belly in it. It was really tender super easy to chew and eat. My preference is a little more crisp but I still liked it. I asked for medium spicy and it was perfect it wasn't too spicy but still had a nice kick. L.A Tin Tin Ramen - 5 STARS My husband had this one and I definitely liked his better. The broth had more flavor and was a bit spicier. AMBIANCE - 4 STARS It was casual nothing fancy but the place felt comfy and warm.

5 stars for the takoyaki. Very crispy and flavorful. Serious standout. Never had anything like it! We also had the truffle shoyu ramen and the yuzu clam ramen. Quick service and cute interior. Park in mini lot or street!

Amazing ramen soup. Crispy calamari tasted great. Soup broth was the best. I had the mild and was perfect heat and taste. Friendly service. A must try spot.

It's almost the time time again! That soup weather.. Actualyl we're already here! I frequent this spot a lot with friends! It's a staple in the community. I love their ramen. The owner and staff are very friendly. It's a vibe when you walk in. Their pickled veggies are amazing, I always get extra But the star of the show is the spicy tonkotsu ramen, u won't be disappointed I guarantee it. The noodles are consistent, so is the broth and chashu pork.

We had friends come in from out of town and the party kept getting larger and larger. We ended up needing to find a spot to eat for about 11 people and luckily we were able to get accommodated by this small ramen shop! They have a long table in the middle that's kinda like picnic bench style and it was perfect for our large party. Took us about 2 hrs stuck in traffic and they seated us immediately when we got there, thankfully!! Parking is small so we all parked at the galleria mall parking structure and just walked over. We were planning to hang out at the mall afterwards anyway! Super nice staff and they were able to get our food and drinks out really quick, along with helping us with a group photo. I'm not hugely into ramen so I went for their gyoza which I somehow managed to order double of even though I wasn't very hungry but it was super tasty and cooked perfectly! They also had melon creamy soda on the menu which is one of my favorites. My bf enjoyed his ramen and I tried a little bit of it and it was pretty good. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come back and try their other menu items. IG: @ammysalamii

This ramen spot is very small, but so cozy. If it's a rainy day, you might have a bit of a wait, but most days it's easy to get a table. The tonkotsu ramen is really good. It's not my favorite ramen in town, but it's still great and well priced. Their happy hour makes the Sapporo such a great deal! The service is always great, we've had nothing but great experiences with the folks who work here.

We were staying in the area and were craving ramen. R101 was a short walk away so we decided to give it a try. From the outside it didn't look like anything special, but from the moment we walked in, the staff was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious and comforting. We ordered the Yuzu Clam ramen, Tonkotsu ramen, Tan Tan Ramen, Garlic Edamame & Ika Geso...everything was yum! If you're in the area, give it a try!

Came in for HH today! The food is always so good and the service is super friendly too. One thing I forgot to mention in my previous review was the music. This place consistently has great music.

R101 Ramen aka 101 Ramen is a small communal style ramen restaurant in the city of Glendale located inside a small plaza on Central Avenue/Vine Street just south of Colorado Street, less than a quarter of a mile away from the Americana at Brand. You can park in the lot if a spot is available or on the street (mind restrictions and time limits. When you walk in you're greeted by some of the most incredible people who go above and beyond. The Spicy Miso Ramen (as well as the Miso, I'd imagine) were so rich with broth, veggies, tofu (my protein of choice). One of the two vegan broth options (labeled on the menu) and they don't dissapoint. Pairing with some garlic edamame and some nigori style sake made for a meal with all levels of flavor from spicy to savory to sweet. Dining with a party of four my friends got to enjoy mods to their L.A. Tan Tan Ramen (opting for no chili oil) - not the spicy bunch where as I just couldn't get enough spice :D they also shared some Karaage (Chicken) and Gyoza (pork), which now also comes in Veggie Gyoza (vegan friendly) - if I hadn't of gotten so full, I'd definitely would've had an order of those, the veggie salad or the Veggie croquettes (all while be enjoyed next time). Coming on recommendation of our friend Cliff who sat next to me and was super sweet to call ahead to ask about vegan offerings before we arrived I quickly learned of all the amazing options. They have an incredible happy hour that includes bottles of sake, beer and more. While tables are either one epic long double side in the middle or wrap around the windows (bar style). You have plenty of space to enjoy your meal with you group, companion or even solo. Restrooms available just right of the entrance. They offer easy add ons, including additional noodles to your ramen as noted and experienced by someone just left of us at a different table. While the table and chairs are lower to the ground it felt pretty comfortable to sit and enjoy all the good food, energy and cozy little big vibes of R101, plus that AC on a 100 plus day! Needless to say everybody left full and happy.

Ask the Community - R101 Ramen

Is this Japanese owned ramen shop?

I believe it is Korean owned.

Are there any non pork broth options?

    Vegetable Ramen, Seafood, Truffles?

    Any baby high chairs?

    Yes

What is the cabbage stuff that they give you on the side called?

Pickled cabbage used as a palate cleanser so you get the flavors of all the meals you order. :)

    Any vegetarian options?

No, the shoyu ramen is NOT vegetarian. I just came from there and the chef apparently will not make anything vegetarian and the waiter informed me they have no vegetarian options. I would have left but I was with my family and didn't want to make… Read more

I know it's a franchise, but I've had other ramen franchises just fine, but it might just be the broth and flavor profile for me. I like that this location is much bigger than the others and is a bit nicer as a result and even during the dinner rush there really wasn't a wait and our food came out decently quickly. Service was friendly and fast too. Ambiance is fancier than the other locations with the dark wood and the dimmer fancy lighting. With every visit, I try to get my ramen super spicy since a lot of, not only ramen places, but Japanese restaurants, spicy means not bland (no offense). And this is the same. I got the super spicy and it just tasted like slightly chili flavored ramen. Imagine someone did cook something spicy in the bowl of ramen and then rinsed the bowl quickly twice. I got the tonkotsu ramen with chashu (2 pieces), seasoned egg, green onions, corn and no bean sprout. Pretty oily and a bit salty and again, not a hint of spiciness. Noodles had a nice chew to it at least. Just alright if anything.

Susuru Ramen Bar is a real neighborhood spot for ramen, and worth the walk and the drive! The Chicken Karaage is the perfect blend of moist and crispiness, and didn't feel heavy or oily. This pork-broth base ramen with black garlic oil surprisingly uses egg noodles, so it's a richer, different taste that certainly stands out. At the same time, no singular taste overwhelms the rest of the dish, and everything from the seasoned soft boiled egg to the perfectly charred chiashu work together in one harmonious feast. Saw the high reviews so had to check it out. Susuru Ramen Bar is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and N Kingsley Dr. The lot is small sharing spaces with other restaurants so your best bet is street parking, which can also be tricky especially later in the day. The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. Definitely worth checking out for a great bowl of ramen.

Interesting flavor profile, but honestly it didn't really pair well with the rest of what we ordered, so we ended up taking most of it home and never really finishing it.
