Small, local place for teriyaki chicken &beef. It was near my appointment place, so decided to try it. I had beef & chicken chow mein combo. The customer service is good, however, the noodle-chow mein was disappointing as it was too soggy.. I was expecting chow mein to be chewy but it was too soggy, and plain.

Way better than we thought it would be!! Pics don't do the food justice. Who doesn't love good beef with those orange chow mein noodles?? Pick up was easy. Would go again and try chicken dishes. Service was good and portions are so huge hubs had leftovers! Thanks yelp for helping us find small places like this! Bc

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years! This is a great small-business that takes care of their customers and has great quality food. A perfect lunch meal with the huge portions that are provided. Take note that orders take about 15 minutes to prepare because food is cooked to order, best to call in advance. The staff is very friendly and while the place is a little small, sitting by yourself or with another will not be a problem. Definitely recommend trying this place (absolutelyA recommend their beef and chicken chow mein)!

This place was recommended to me by a friend who shares the same love for chicken teriyaki. Let me just say this place is absolutely delicious and authentic. The sauce is exactly what I was expecting and it tastes homemade. The rice noodles and vegetables covered in sauce tastes amazing. The service was quick and easy. I called ahead for pick up and it was ready in 10 minutes. The ambiance is super quiet but you can tell it's a place where people go there for a quick but tasty lunch. Will be going back again.

Susuru Ramen Bar is a real neighborhood spot for ramen, and worth the walk and the drive! The Chicken Karaage is the perfect blend of moist and crispiness, and didn't feel heavy or oily. Some places serve chicken karaage over-breaded or drenched in oil, but not Susuru! The Mayu Ramen is really where it's at though. This pork-broth base ramen with black garlic oil surprisingly uses egg noodles, so it's a richer, different taste that certainly stands out. At the same time, no singular taste overwhelms the rest of the dish, and everything from the seasoned soft boiled egg to the perfectly charred chiashu work together in one harmonious feast. This is one ramen bowl that is literally good to the last drop!

Saw the high reviews so had to check it out. Susuru Ramen Bar is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and N Kingsley Dr. The lot is small sharing spaces with other restaurants so your best bet is street parking, which can also be tricky especially later in the day. The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. Definitely worth checking out for a great bowl of ramen.

Now Sogo took the top place for my favorite! Stopped by Friday for lunch and it was pretty calm so I was able to chat more with the friendly staff. I started off with some Naguryama "Crane Castle" sake in a carafe and it was delicious. One of the best sake I've ever had and this place has a fantastic array of sake available! For food I went with the baked crab crispy rice first and this was amazing. The only place I've found doing a "crab" crispy rice and it was spot on. The rice was so crispy without being oily or chewy. Then I went with the six roll set (subbing the spicy tuna with a toro scallion) and although each roll was absolutely wonderful, my top three would have to be the toro, albacore kari kari, and crab. Each roll has a great amount of warm rice that is so fluffy and flavored well without overpowering the fish. The fish isn't cold either so there isn't a drastic temperature change. My ONLY complaint is that one or two of the rolls had seaweed that instantly got soft and chewy so it was hard to bite through. I'm not sure if these pieces of seaweed were left open when they were about to be used? Did they get moisture? It didn't ruin my experience but I definitely noticed it. BUT I will say what I appreciated is the small strip of seaweed that is tucked on the bottom to keep all the filling in the handroll and not spill out as you bite! I added a salmon, unagi, and lobster hand rolls as well to really get a good sense of the menu. The salmon itself was good but I think the sauce they used (maybe a yuzu based?) was a bit too much and overpowered it. The lobster and unagie however were perfect! The unagi was warm, crispy, buttery while the lobster was rich and delicious. Absolutely great lunch and a place that I am happy to return to.
