I had heard so many great things about La La Land, so I was glad I finally got the chance to try it. My first attempt at their Grove location didn't work out, so I was pleasantly surprised that the wait this time wasn't too bad. It was probably because it was Coachella weekend. As soon as I got there, I ordered the banana cream matcha, and it was a delightful surprise. The banana flavor tasted natural rather than artificial, and the matcha added a nice layer of depth that balanced everything well. It was a unique combination that really worked. The main reason I'd take off a star is the wait time--it still felt a bit long for what it was. I can only imagine how busy it gets on a typical weekend. We were so excited to try this place because it looked really good, but there are several inherent problems. The first is mismanagement. There are way too many people behind the counter and nobody seems to know what the other one is doing. It took 15 minutes to get 2 cups of coffee. The coffee was literally already prepared and all they had to do was pour in a cup and add some half and half but the cashier was on her cell phone constantly, putting on clothing at the counter, and ignoring customers. Someone else had to ask me if I needed something before she looked up from her cell phone and see that I'm standing right in front of her. When I finally got the coffees, they were both cold and did not taste good. The warmed up butter croissants were actually really good so that was a plus, but the customer service and the lack of organization led me to decide to never return. I walked across the street after dumping half of our coffees in the trash and went to Philz coffee and got some real coffee. Much better customer service at Philz and nicer atmosphere as well. None of the employees here is standing around like at La La Land. For reference, I was there today at 8:25am and it was check #35 on my receipt. I visited La La Land Kind Cafe and had a bit of a mixed experience. The first thing you notice is the huge line -- it's always packed. The interior is absolutely beautiful, very aesthetic and clearly designed with Instagram in mind. It's definitely one of those places where you come for the vibe and the photos. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience pleasant. Prices are a bit above average, which I wouldn't mind as much if the coffee matched my taste. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. I am not sure I would wait hours for La La Land, but it had a decent drink and if I was in the area and they had a short line, I would go back. I've been La La Land all over social media and since I was at the Grove, I definitely wanted to try. I got lucky and the line was only about 15 minutes. The employee was nice and I opted for the matcha latte. They have milk alternative, which is nice for a lactose intolerant like me. Drinks came out fairly quickly. They told us to wait outside where there is a pick up window. My matcha latte was pretty good, wasn't too strong and had a balance level of sweetness. Overall, I really liked the drink. I also tried the coffee latte, which wasn't my favorite, because the coffee was slightly too bitter for me. There's some seating inside and more seating outside. But even when I came during a slower time, there were no seats available. I was OK with it because I grabbed my drink and wandered around the Grove. Headed here on a busy Saturday afternoon with my wife and daughter, and it was packed. Makes total sense for this popular spot at the Americana. One confusing thing when you first walk in: figuring out the lines. There's a clear order line and a separate pickup line, and many people looked totally lost trying to figure it out. We jumped into the order line right away and the wait to place our order was not bad at all. But be prepared as drinks took over 30 minutes to come out. That said, it was absolutely worth it. My wife ordered the Banana Cloud Latte with matcha. My daughter got the Super Strawberry Milk and drank it so fast it was clearly a hit. I went with the World's Best Vanilla Latte with espresso, salted. They weren't kidding with the name. Not crazy sweet, perfectly balanced vanilla bean flavor with just the right touch of salt to make it delicious. Easily one of the better coffee drinks I've had in a long time. Smooth, flavorful, and satisfying. The cups they use are really neat too, cute and well designed, which added a nice touch to the whole experience. The bright, kind vibe of the place shines through even when it is slammed. If you're at the Americana shopping or strolling, this is a fun stop with creative drinks that deliver. Come for the dreamy lattes, stay for the long but rewarding experience. Just order ahead on the app if you can to skip some of the hassle. Gave this spot another shot and I'm glad I did. I ordered the strawberry matcha and was surprised by how good it was. The matcha tasted high quality, smooth, and well balanced without being overly sweet. They use fresh strawberries as well which I enjoyed. This was not my experience the first time. Was browsing around at the Americana and stumbled upon this bougie yellow coffee shop so I decided to check out the menu. After reading the description for their specialty Banana Cloud Latte, I couldn't resist giving it a try.  The staff taking my order was very friendly and chatty - but she got my order wrong. She gave me a small instead of a medium even though we had a lengthy conversation about how tiny the small cups are and joked around that they looked like the sippy cups you give to babies.  So even though I asked for a medium, she rang me up for a small - which is about three sips of drink for $8 after tip - and unfortunately I didn't notice until I picked up my order. The espresso had a very smooth, nicely roasted flavor which I really enjoyed and it wasn't overly sweet. But there was hardly any banana flavor in the drink and the cloud top was thin and completely bland.  The place was packed and to-go orders were piling up on the counter - but the numerous staff behind the counter were not bothered - they weren't calling out any names and were chatting and goofing off amongst themselves mostly - leaving one very relaxed and unbothered lady making coffee after coffee by herself at her own sweet pace with no help - and leaving the customers to crowd around the orders and figure it out for themselves. The yellow and white decor is inviting and grandiose - tall ceilings and giant chandeliers - very much in keeping with the high end vibes of the Americana area. But they had the floor-to-ceiling windows open in their unshaded cafe and it was absolutely roasting inside and out. The outdoor seating was all in full sun with little to no shade and sun was pouring in and covering the inside tables as well. Definitely uncomfortable - I can't imagine this would be a pleasant place to "relax" in such hot weather. I was happy to get my tiny little iced latte and leave to find some shade to cool off.  Cute spot but overpriced and overhyped with customer service seriously lacking. Stumbled into lala land and will I tell you that it went fantastic. I came around 3:00 pm and it was packed! The interior is like walking into a princess movie set I love the big open windows as well really encapsulates the dreamy vibes! It was so busy yet even the customers were in such a good mood! Crowded but fast! We went on a Sunday afternoon so it was a bit crowded but the line went fast. We ordered the Strawberry cooler with lemonade, the Strawberry Fields Matcha Latte and the Matcha Squared Latte. All of them were very tasty. The matcha lattes were both sweetened well. Even though the Matcha Squared has extra matcha, it wasn't bitter at all. The strawberry cooler was a little on the sweet side, probably because it was made with lemonade. We might try it next time with tea instead. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Despite it being very busy they were able to get the drinks out very fast. These were our orders: Perfect Latte (hot; $6.70): Perfect indeed! It's very creamy and light for an afternoon coffee. Matcha² Latte ($8.10+$0.85): I got this in large, sub oat milk. It tasted pretty good, but the matcha is a little grainy. They say it's ceremonial matcha from Uji on their website. There's limited seating available inside and outside the shop. The customer service at the cashier was great. They have avo toast, but I didn't get that. There is also a merch wall that sells their cups and coffee beans. Second time trying this place and can see what the hype is about. Thankfully, when we went the line wasn't very long, which was a plus as their line can be brutal. On this visit, I got a vanilla late and my partner got a strawberry matcha. My coffee had a good quality espresso and the drink was nicely balanced, not overly sweet which I appreciate, and the vanilla tasted high quality. We came at what I thought was a busy time to only discover later on that there was a whole other level of busy this place could surprisingly get when it was raining on and off during our stay there. The cashier was really patient and nice with me as I asked questions about certain items before placing my order. I ended up getting a Strawberry Cloud Latte with Matcha and a Ham & Cheese Croissant that they heated up for me. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables inside. They did have outdoor seating too along the walls of the place, but seating was damp outside due to the rain. The latte was surprisingly delicious and I was such a fan of the strawberry cream that came with it on top. The croissant was delicious too and I loved how flaky it was and the crisp cheese topping on it. We both loved the merch they had for sale that included hats and mugs and the vibe was nice though it got pretty load with the amount of people waiting to purchase and pick up their orders as they sheltered from the weather outside. I went in two days in a row being that I was staying nearby. The first day I tried the banana latte and it was delicious - would definitely try it again. The next day I had a strawberry latte - it was just okay. Service was okay - the first day the girl was rushing me and I was not talking long at all, just had a few basic question, since it was my first time there. The girl making my drink was a solid 0/10! She was texting and making drinks at the same time - SUPER UNSANITARY. A young man stopped by to get a cup of water and she splashed him and three other customers with some sort of foam/milk and proceeded to laugh. She then told her coworker she needed to go to the back to LAUGH IT OFF while she left two drinks already made, just sitting there for a good 5-10 minutes. I could see her in the back laughing, chatting with her coworkers, and on her phone. She came back out, put a lid on them, and called out the names. The young lady waiting for it said she was grossed out because her drink was just sitting there but didn't want to ask for another because she had already been waiting for 30 minutes. Mine also took a good 30 minutes. I kept waiting for mine and when I asked for it she was upset and rude and said she needed ice. Keep in mind they had already given me a warmed up cookie and a cooler for my friend. Yup, cookie was not warm by the time I ate it, but it was good, I'd get again. Be prepared to wait for a long time. Not because of the line, but because they're goofing around. Overall the place is nice, I did have to sit at a dirty table because no one ever cleaned it. Would probably stop by for the banana latte again, only because they don't have a Lala Land where I live, but would hope their customer service would improve. Finally got to try La La Land today!! I've always seen a wait outside the door so we ordered ahead through the app. There was only a 15 minute wait which wasn't bad at all. We ordered the banana chai latte, einspanner espresso latte, and mini strawberry milks for my kids. All the drinks were delicious and of course the cups and the branding is just so cute. I did expect the einspanner to have some thicker foam, because I personally like a thick layer of cream topping, so I was disappointed there was no cream top. The coffee itself was delicious though, so that made up for it. The banana chai latte had a nice cream top, and the flavors went together pretty well. I wasn't sure if banana, chai and coffee would work well together but they actually did. My kids also loved their strawberry milks along with their mini cups.
