I always make sure to visit a Porto's location before heading to the airport. I went here on a Sunday around 4:23pm and there were multiple lines with a wait. This place is a large cafe with multiple rooms and multiple lines to order the different items they have here, so that part can be confusing. Anyways, I ordered a dozen of the Guava Strudels and a dozen of Potato Balls since those are some of my favorite items. I also ordered a Guava Smoothie, which that was my first time trying their drinks and I loved how refreshing that smoothie was without it being too sweet. I'd recommend this place! All the food I've tried here so far tasted good and now I recently tried one of their smoothies which was good too. This is my first time to the Glendale location, super nice really clean and it wasn't that crowded. They have tables inside and some outside for a nice day you can eat outside. We decided to dine in and order some food, we tried the ham croquette, Cuban sandwich and grilled chicken with citrus. After I headed to the bakery to get some desserts to go, got four boxes worth. Filled with cream cheese, guava, cream, cheese, churro, cinnamon, croissant, and apple tart strudel. All of these are excellent choices. The problem with the bakery as they have so many options you don't know what to get you just wanna try everything. This location was great because it wasn't crowded and there was no line at the bakery. You could just walk up in order. I've been to other locations where the lines are super long and you waited at least an hour just to get dessert. All in all this place was great fast service friendly cashier is very helpful. I came a little before 11am and it was already packed. There were two lines going: one on the cafe side and the other on the bakery side of things. Both sides were always long but it was pretty easy to get through. The service staff was efficient in getting orders taken and processing payment. I ordered a match latte with oat milk and it was so good. Best part? They don't up charge for oat milk substitution. I also ordered a bowl of their corn soup, which I believe is a summer special. This soup eats was so flavorful and has the consistency of a chowder but without the cream. The sweetness of the corn countered by the nice heat from the roasted poblano peppers was such a nice combination that I'm already thinking about the next time I can eat it. It was served with a nicely toasted baguette that was perfect for dunking. Although I also ordered a turkey sandwich, I was already full from the chowder and latte alone. I took the sandwich to go. I later ate half of it while stuck in afternoon traffic on my drive home. The croissant was baked fresh and that difference in quality stands out. As you can see from the picture, there are two croissants to the order. All of this food was under $25. I'd say that's a great value. This is our first time at Porto's in Glendale and it did not disappoint! This place gave us really good vibes from the moment we walked in. I think it helped that we arrived very early on a Sunday. This place opens at 6:30 AM. It wasn't too crazy busy yet but as the morning went along, it did get crazy! I think the secret is to visit this place early! We sat down at a table near the window which was really nice to be able to look out while we enjoyed our Chorizo and Egg Breakfast Sandwich, Breakfast Empanada, Spinach & Feta Empanada, Ham Croquette, Apple Strudel, Cheese Roll and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. The food is very good with very reasonable pricing. Service is excellent, this place is extremely staffed! I was taking my Brother back to the airport, and we passed by Portos. I didn't know there was one up this way, but I'm glad we passed it. I came back after I dropped him off. It was about 8am on Sunday morning, and the place was PACKED! 20-30 people in both the food and coffee line. I got myself some pastries. I got some of their guava cream cheese pastries, some chocolate chip cookies, a chocolate croissant for my wife, and a blueberry muffin. Total for 14 pastries was only $20.00. Cant beat that! How were they? Delicious! The guava cream cheese are so flaky, and not overstuffed. A perfect pastry. I reheated a few of them this morning even, in the toaster oven, and they got better! Lol. The cookies had a ton of chocolate chips in them, a little tiny crisp, but pretty soft overall. Delicious, again! The blueberry muffin was great, too! Stuffed with blueberries and nice and crumbly. Absolutely loved our first experience! There is paid parking in the back of the restaurant, it was a bit hectic ordering I'd advise you look at the full menu online and know what you want. They were not able to tell me what was in some of the sandwiches or what drinks they had, and said to look online. I was already at the counter ordering though so that didn't help. I came at breakfast time on a Saturday and the line was out the door. Fortunately, the line moves. It was challenging to find a table inside. The breakfast wrap was delicious and I could not get enough of the salsa that came with it. The cappuccino was the perfect accompaniment to the breakfast wrap. The famous Porto's. Everywhere you go in Glendale, you see people with Porto's boxes. Of course I had to go there. I found it right down the street with ample parking on the street. Once inside, it is huge with seemingly 2 areas that look similar, although one side says "Bakery". The bakery side is even bigger with more choices. In the middle is where you can order coffee. In the bakery, you can can choose breakfast sandwiches and I ordered a chorizo breakfast sandwich which was very good! We also got their famous potato balls which have meat and cheese inside. The tricky part is that they give you a buzzer and you actually have to go to another part of the store (the other side and toward the back) to pick up your sandwich. I found this place to have beautiful looking pastries which taste very good. It's convenient and the entire place is a machine with very efficient workers that get you in and out. One of my all time favorite bakeries, and Porto's locations. Always very crowded, but worth it for the food. We sat outside because there was no indoor seating available. It was quite hot and close to the road, but there weren't other options. Very lively ambiance. I usually don't come here to dine in, just order bakery items, but their bakery and fresh food is both equally good. We ordered the ropa vieja plate, a sandwich and matcha latte (the jasmine blue one). The ropa vieja is one of my favorite things to get, the meat is incredibly tender and juicy. I love their rice as well, which pairs well with the meat and beans. I'm not a big fan of the plantains or caramelized banana that comes with it, just because I cant get used to the texture and sweetness. Their sandwiches are top tier, I usually get the Medianoche which is excellent ! The matcha was also pretty good, more milky and not a strong tea flavor. Still a good drink! Recommend Porto's for everyone! For bakery items, our favorite is the cheese rolls and the potato balls. They also have excellent cakes. Be prepared for busy crowded store at any location, but the service is always patient and accommodating even when packed. read more

I ordered couple of each item, including some I've never tried, and took them home. Old favorites like potato balls tasted just like I remembered. I then took a bite of an item I've never tried, the breakfast empanada. I didn't get to the filling on the first bite, so I was thinking this must be like the meat pie, and took one more bite. I then realized half way through the empanada that filling is missing! The inside didn't look anything like the picture or the youtube videos I've watched. I touched down in the LA area at 7 AM and I was looking for a great spot for breakfast. AI recommended Porto's bakery and Café because of its popularity and the fact that they had a location close to my hotel. I was so impressed! It's obviously a very busy restaurant, but they have two locations to order and they move the line so quickly because you first order from the bakery and then you can order sandwiches and coffee when you get to the register. For dine in your order is brought to your table. I wanted to try a sampling of everything so we ordered two different breakfast sandwiches, a cinnamon roll and two of their Cuban inspired breaded potato balls. We added two coffees to our order and our total ended up being somewhere around $30 which I felt was amazing. I was so glad that we ordered a variety of food options and baked items and wished I would've had the appetite to eat more because everything I had was delicious and unique and everything in the cases looked just as delicious. Overall 3.5 stars I had heard amazing things about this bakery so while we lived in LA, we had to try this spot! The parking wasn't too bad, and this spot was crowded! I mean the line was about 40 mins or so, but we were determined. Inside gets loud and busy. We tried a few of their baked goods, the smaller cakes (tiramisu and something with guava), along with their potato balls. The food didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. Perhaps i felt like that becuase the wait wasn't worth it, but i had mixed feelings about the flavor and the taste of everything.
