I was shopping at the store next door when I smelled the freshly baked gatas and had to stop by and get some. I have been here many times over the years and can honestly say their cakes and pastries are delicious. Always fresh and lots of variety. They are known for their meringue cakes and the gatas. I purchased a box of gatas to enjoy with my coffee. My kids love it too. Customer service was welcoming and friendly. Gohar was helping me with my purchase. She was friendly and patient with me explaining the options. The ambiance is lovely here. Organized and well stocked with delicious things.
I highly recommend Karina's! They created the most beautiful and delicious cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday, even with a very short turnaround time. Sona is the one who always helps us, and she is truly incredible! She is so kind, helpful, and accommodating, and she always makes the entire process easy and stress-free. I've been coming to this bakery since my engagement party, and they continue to be part of so many special moments in our family's life. Thank you, Sona, for going above and beyond and for helping make Layla's birthday so special. The cake was absolutely perfect!
What better way to say happy new year's eve and ring in the new year than with the most delectable cakes on the East side? The cream puff, the eclair, and the chocolate cakes were all delectable. I couldn't stop eating and the assorted box brought in for my team was a temptation I kept circling back to especially after a 30 hour long call. The cakes were so good I found myself walking around the hospital with cake crumbs smeared across my chin and not a single part of me could feel anything but pure bliss- 10/10 for the most lovely cakes I've had a chance to indulge in. And, these sweet treats were essential for helping me stay awake at the tail end of the call period, I had beeb fighting to stay awake and then the sugar rush hit. Thanks to my kind colleague and Karina's cake house for this awesome discovery of a grand dessert place on NYE! Thanks 2025, grateful for all the food memories of this year, and I look forward to ringing in the new year with our awesome Yelp community!

Karina's ALWAYS hits the mark! This bake shop has been making our family's birthday cakes & goodies since they graced us with their delectable treats over 2 decades ago! They are all so sweet & personable, whether you're ordering on the phone or in person. The cake shop is often bustling with happy sounds, friendly & excited voices, & tantalizing aroma. They clearly take pride in what they deliver & present beautiful, deeelicious pastries. Heck, I live in OC & I still make sure to get my reeaally special/ important items from Karina's. They have lifelong fans/ customers right here!
If you're looking for another great cake/ bakery option in the Glendale area other than Porto's (and specifically for CAKES)- try Karina's. They have a Kievsky cake with OR without nuts that's a huge hit at celebrations. There was a line, you take a number and wait to be called- but pretty quick in getting to you. I haven't tried any of the other cakes YET. *The only request I have is for the staff: they can smile a little and be patient while answering questions about their cake selections. They know they're cakes are good, and it won't stop people from buying, but it's nice to have a welcoming attitude , especially for the customers. 7 out of 10 for me (only because of their customer service).

The bird's milk and the mikado have me in a chokehold.. these are 10/10 cakes that are seriously so, so good. With the perfect textures and taste with very affordable prices, Karina's Cake House is easily one my my top bakeries to visit!
Karina's Cake House offers delicious and beautiful Armenian baked goods. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with well-stocked display cases. The bakery workers were efficient with calling ticket numbers and were okay if we weren't ready to place our order. I opted to try two of their slices: Honey Slice (5/5) - The honey slice is a russian honey cake that pairs perfectly with tea or coffee. The cake is made of a mix of thin layers of cake separated by a thin layer of cream. Ideal Slice (4/5) - The ideal slice was similar in favor to the honey slice but with nuts and slightly drier. It wasn't my favorite but still flavorful.
I'm shocked that the quality of my favorite cakes, Kievski and Kutuzov, has declined. On Valentine's Day, I ordered a Kievski cake, and the decor was terrible. You'd think they'd decorate with red strawberries, but all I got was a plain blackberry cake. I had to go out and decorate it with chocolate strawberries and add a love sign to make it more like a Valentine's Day cake. The decor is the least of my complaint considering that when I cut it and shared it with my family, all we tasted was baking soda. I was so disappointed that I threw the entire cake away. A few days later, we decided to try the Kutuzov cake. When we cut it, it was very dry, and the cream was so white that I thought they made it with whipped cream. But it tasted sour and had a strong baking soda taste. When we called the store, the manager said that it's possible that the Kutuzov cake was frozen even though she also said they made it that day. Why freeze it then??? She said to give it time to thaw, but we had guests over at the moment, who wants to wait for the cake to thaw. She also said that they use sour cream, which is why it's sour. When we insisted that the quality of both cakes were not to our expectation, the manager said that we NEED to bring the cakes to their store so they can taste it to see what was wrong with it. They said our tastes can be different. Mind you, I'm the one who paid for these cakes and have been eating them for the last 20 years. Also, it was raining heavily, and we didn't have a car at the time. We just paid heavy delivery fees for Uber to deliver these cakes to us and we have to deliver it back to them??? Not a sign of good customer service. The next day the manager called us and said we will pay for Uber to come and pick up the cake. What? Does she think I have a giant fridge to hold on to something that im not going to eat, I told her the cake went in the trash. What a waste of $90+ for these cakes. We were very disappointed with both cakes and the response we received from the manager of the store. Instead of offering future store credit or some type of compensation, their response was to bring the cakes back to the store. Looks like we won't be returning to Karina's anytime soon.

I ordered this custom cake with kievsky walnut filling and I was extremely pleased. Gohar perfected the design I requested and the cake itself was delicious. I buy the ready made Kievsky frequently and I must say that this custom Kievsky was even more delicious. Our guests kept commenting on how delicious it was.

This was my first time at Karina's Cake House, and definitely won't be the last. Walked in around 7pm, on the 6th of this month and got a nice welcome from Sona and Gohar. Both ladies were very nice, sweet, (just like the bakery), and eager to help me. There was a line, but not too long. They were about to close in an hour and both ladies cleared that line so fast. Great job!! Prices were also very affordable according to whatever they had in their displays. I had a major sweet tooth, and their delectable, decadent, aroma of their pastries was very hard to resist. They also have hot and cold beverages of every kind and a cute sitting area inside the bakery. I bought us some Gata, (an Armenian pastry). They had 2 different kinds. One with nuts in them, and one without. I got the one that had no nuts and was semisweet. I also got box of variety of sweets, that included: 2 Chocolate Eclairs, 3 Cream Puffs, & 2 Strawberry Shortcake topped with pieces of almonds. Let's not forget their beautiful, yummy cupcakes. I got 6 (variety pack). They can customize your cakes to your liking for any one of your special occasions. The place was very chic, classy and elegant. Bakery was very clean, with some Armenian/Russian music playing overhead. They can even make beautiful baskets for you to give away to someone you love, on their special occasions. They have cakes, cupcakes, chocolates, candy, variety of cookies, full cases of pastries, a platter of nuts, included various nuts. Parking, also street and metered parking. The only downside was that I wish they had an outdoor/patio seating. Next time I am in Glendale, I will definitely visit this lovely, beautiful bakery. Thank you all very much! read more

Thank you for your response. I appreciate that you took the time to reply, but I believe your response misses the main issue. Good business etiquette is simple: when a business makes a mistake, it should acknowledge it, correct it immediately, sincerely apologize to the customer, and ensure the customer leaves satisfied. That builds trust and demonstrates accountability. Instead, much of your response focuses on explaining that the price tag may have been moved accidentally by staff or customers. Those are explanations, not accountability. This was one of the last two pieces left in the display, and the incorrect price tag should have been noticed well before my purchase. As I also stated in my response to the Agricultural Commissioner of Weights & Measures Inspector, I am almost certain that after I shared my experience and reviews on social media, the pricing discrepancies would have been already corrected. If that is the case, I genuinely hope those changes help make sure future customers are charged accurately and fairly. Regarding the Kyiv cake, my concern is relatively minimal compared to the pricing issue. It simply did not taste as good as it used to. It lacked the freshness and flavor we had previously enjoyed, and it tasted somewhat stale. This is the least of my concern. What concerns me most is the lack of accountability. Businesses earn customer loyalty by owning their mistakes, not by offering explanations for why they may have happened. A sincere apology, immediate correction and a commitment to making things right would have been a much more appropriate response. read more

Karina's Almond Cookies is what I will drive to Glendale for. They are so delicious. They are Chewy, not overly sweet, crunch edge, soft cream, and just the perfect taste to eat it with a cup of coffee or by itself as a little dessert. We've been a loyal customer of Karina for years, it's prolly our to-go cake for birthdays. When I needed a customized cake for a big event, they were my first thought. I asked for 3 layered cake, Kievsky flavor for all the layers. The size was meant for 100 people. I paid $640 including delivery. It didn't include the floral toppers and birthday sign topper. I needed to bring them a day before the cake delivery. The finished product was how I imagined it to be and it was delivered without any problems. Our guest loved the cake. read more

I ordered a custom cake for my birthday and what I received looked nothing like the photo. I understand that while you aren't able to make the exact cake from a photo I still expected something quite similar, which from the photos you can tell the colors are completely off. I was further disappointed when they offered no real solution to my dissatisfaction. Mind you I'm a returning customer. I will say the cake itself tasted great but considering how expensive the cake was I expected an overall better experience and customer service. read more

I stopped by here near the holidays and oh my goodness what a Christmas dream! The pastries were beautifully set up. The Kievsky cake is my absolute favorite and my yearly bday tradition cake! If you've never tried kyiv it's very similar to a Sans rival (filipino dessert) with layers of buttercream and cashews, BUT the crunch here is just top notch!! WELL DESERVED 5th star! Popped in, to try these Almond cookies I've been hearing about. Holy heavens the rave reviews about these little morsels are ON POINT! Again, I was welcomed with the sweet aromas of fresh baked treats. Gets you ready for the happy dance party you're about to experience. I mean, when food makes you wanna get up and dance, you gotta applaud the pastry chef! BRAVO, my heart is filled with joy! In my option, the cookie texture is reminiscent of a French macaroon. Nice chewy center and a delicate crispy shell. 2 not 1 almond cookie are sandwiched in between this light and creamy filling. I can't put my finger on the flavor combinations, however what the filling tastes like to me, almond extract, crème fraîche, cream cheese and the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the entire cookie. That may not be the ingredients of the filling, however I tried my best to paint a close enough flavor profile of what I experienced. Whatever the ingredients are, It's SO GOOD! A PERFECT COOKIE! I'm not a big cake person but this cake was so good! Usually custom cakes come out dry and flavorless. But this cake was so moist. And even a couple days later the cake was still good! I got chocolate and vanilla. Wasn't too sweet. Just perfect. Definitely recommend read more

Easy to find, near a major interstate. They have their own parking lot. They have a ton of variety of pastries. I couldn't decide which ones to get I wish I could try them all. The staff is very patient. The regulars know exactly what to get whereas tourists like me are in amazement of all the pretty and yummy goodies. Note to self, if you plan on traveling with the sweets, I'd suggest you pack a cooler and some packing material to protect the delicate pastries! read more

You do not need to pre order their Kievsky cakes...they always have plentiful cakes available when you walk in. Keep in mind they may or may not have a particular design or flavor but they will always have one available. Don't wait until closing…

Hi, they did some renovations in their shop which I don't know if it affects their prices. It is wiser to call them at (818) 240-6718 so you can have accurate figures. Haven't been back since they renovated few months ago.
Are they open again? I know they were under construction until August 27th. I tried to call but it goes to voicemail.
No as of yesterday October 1st, my mum and dad went there to order a cake for my baby shower and the place is still shut down and under renovation, no word on when it will be done. I'm so bummed.
