I recently found out Bruster's Real Ice Cream has made its way to La Canada Flintridge Town Center near Descanso Gardens. Cool! I love the garden and I love ice cream. Perfect location! Got here in the evening. Parking appears limited where I was parked, but I know there are more parking at the town center. Anyway, I got lucky with a close parking spot. No inside seating. Just a couple tables and chairs outside. They weren't super busy at the time. I was the only person in line. This is my 2nd time trying Bruster's. My first time was at their Rancho Cucamonga location. Nick, the staff member who helped me, was very nice and helpful. I asked for recommendations on their best flavors. He graciously offered them. Thank you Nick! I got to sample a handful of flavors... Boston Cream Pie, Sea Salt Caramel, Death By Chocolate, Caramel Macchiato, and Cinnamon. Thanks for the samples! All the flavors were very good except for the Cinnamon which I thought was very light in taste. Since I was driving, I chose an ice cream shake instead of a cup or cone. Caramel Macchiato was my pick! It had a really nice caramel flavor with coffee bean bits. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't pile up the ice cream to the top of the lid. It stopped at the top of the cup. I felt I was shorted some ice cream unfortunately. Hence, 4 stars! Nevertheless, Nick was amazing. His service was fantastic. Wonderful conversation and experience. What a yummy surprise!!! This little ice cream spot opened in October 2024, and while it may look small - don't be fooled! They offer a great variety of flavors, and everything tasted so fresh and homemade. I honestly haven't had ice cream like this in a long time! I was helped by Sabrina, who was absolutely wonderful and such a joy to talk to. Usually, people working at ice cream shops don't really make you feel welcomed - but she was the complete opposite. This afternoon, a little before 1:30 pm, I visited this location with my little girl dog and my husband. The employee, whom we found out is the owner, was very nice and friendly. She greeted us as we were looking over the menu and offered to give us any samples. And we tried several. We ended up deciding to get: Medium Waffle Bowl, $8.25 (tax included, prior to tip)- This comes with 3 scoops, so we ended up getting mango, vanilla and rocky road. My husband and I really liked the mango and knew we had to get that as one of our flavors. The mango was refreshing and did not have that weird artificial taste. I also decided to get vanilla just because I like vanilla in general. And my husband decided to get rocky road (he didn't try a sample, it is just one of those flavors he likes). I thought the rocky road was too sweet for me so I only had a few bites. The waffle bowl was pretty good. The size is definitely a lot and think I would either just get a single scoop or get the small scoop (that comes with 2 scoops) to share with my husband next time. Pup Sundae- This is a small scoop of vanilla ice cream with broken pieces of a waffle cone/ bowl. Our little girl really loved it. It is nice that there is a few metal tables right across where you order outside so that we could eat with our little girl. There is also a metal bench as well. But please note that there is not indoor seating, as that seems to be common with other Bruster's locations. My wife and I tried Bruster's real ice cream for the first time. We tried the pistachio and the salted caramel. Both of the flavors were DELICIOUS, creamy and smooth. The pistachio ice cream had plenty of pistachio nuts and was ..AMAZING.. We really really liked a lot. The portions were very generous unlike other ice cream shops. First time coming here and was so happy with the quality of their ice creams, the service, and the outdoor benches and seating. The weather was gorgeous, warm, and perfect for ice cream. Bruster's has been on our radar for a while and I'm happy they are in the hood. It's tucked away in the Target/HomeGoods shopping center, aka plenty of parking (!!!). No indoor seating, but we are spoiled with glamorous weather every day so I'm not mad about that! My daughter got the kids scoop of cookies and cream, I got the vegan white raspberry truffle oat milk in a waffle cone. We were silent in happiness. It's wonderful that we have an ice cream stop back in this shopping center again. After speaking with the friendly owner, she informed me that they make their umpteen varieties of ice cream fresh, on-site daily. And you could really taste the freshness! Even in the fluffiness of the whipped cream. We tried a few samples before committing to our banana split order. They were willing to give us as many samples as we wanted, which is very gracious. We got the seasonal Coconut Cream Pie and Peppermint Oreo. These were both original, certainly homemade, rich, and bursting with flavor. The service is good, with the young man serving us samples. We weren't blown away by the service like at Handel's, but the staff was polite, prompt, and let us use our sign-up coupon for $3 off. The ice cream is served from a window with seating outside. Like Handel's, the majority of the floor space is dedicated to ice cream creation, with large visible freezers in the back, always a good use of space in my book. This little gem presented itself as we were shopping at Home Goods and were walking to our car in 96° weather and hot as Hades and it was like Iike sent from Heaven! Lol we immediately looked at their large menu of their homemade ice creams and Italian Ices and more. I got a strawberry Italian ice and mom ans my friend got Jamocha Almond Fudge. Mom got a scoop in a bowl. My friend got hers in a waffle cone. They had so many deals I was impressed. Being it was 95° outside we were so happy to have such a cold treat! I have been to this spot on three separate occasions and each time I was greeted and served by incredibly friendly staff and had some great ice cream. There are some very nice non-dairy items (my wife got a great Lime Italian Ice) and their servings are incredibly generous. Creamy and delicious, with great care and attention from the staff. My only reason for the four star is the seating. There is only outside seating and on a hot summer day an indoor option would be greatly appreciated! I went to Bruster's after work for a little pick me up, but I never expected to be lifted to the stars. I've come here before, but this time it was a little different. I got the S'mores flavor and the crunch of the graham cracker combined with the gooeyness of the marshmallow and sweetness of the chocolate was astronomical. I can only give my thanks to Sabrina who helped me find this flavor. Her detailed questions revealed her knowledge of the shop and her personality was fantastic. 10/10 would go again and will be recommending to friends/family.
