This is a such sweet and much needed spot in our Pasadena community. Both Lynn and Shazi are very intentional towards us (my fiancé and I came in for a wedding cake deposit). Both women are intentional in giving us all the details and even made sure they understood what we wanted with the filling and design. The attention to details and kindness to customers is much needed in the busy or hustle and bustle of our daily grind. It is. Dry refreshing dealing with people in the service industry that cares about getting your order and the most important day of your life right.

We love Takes the Cake! They're always very responsive and helpful. They take the time to perfectly replicate what I am asking for and follow up with options if something is unavailable. The price is very reasonable and pick up is always so easy. 10/10 recommend them for all cake needs.

Lemon and white cakes for cake tasting.

I had my baby shower cake here and had it delivered to the place of my event. I ordered a round cake that would be used for photos and a sheet cake for serving. I forgot to ask for a cake knife so I was scrambling a little when it was time to serve the cake. It was weird that when the cake was delivered the round cake didn't come in a box. It was literally just the cake. Since I am not a new customer here I knew exactly what cake flavor I wanted and I couldn't be any happier. Since I know what flavor o wanted choosing a design and having them execute it was no issue. My cakes turned out wonderful.

    Halloween themed birthday party cake.

Lynn and Shazi were able to create the PERFECT Graduation cake for me. Not only did the design exceed my expectations, but their cakes are soooo delicious. Everyone loved it!

We ordered our wedding cake from Takes The Cake -- they absolutely live up to their name! We got an 8" cutting cake and sheet cake to serve to guests. The cake was chocolate on chocolate with fresh strawberries and a light ivory frosting. We also added the meandering vine design and buttercream flowers. Communication was super clear and fast, and we were able to try a few samples and finalize our order on the same day. Everything was magnificent! The cake was so delicious that many of our guests were asking for seconds. Thank you so much Lynn & Shazi!

I had a very special theme for my 30th birthday. I have been planning this party since I turned 20 and I always knew how I would like my cake to look like . When i picked up my cake I was blown away ! Not only did it look exactly like I wanted it also tasted amazing! ( Got white/vanilla cake with white chocolate filling ) Make sure to order in advance ( I did like 4 months cus I'm crazy ) so that they don't book up . We definitely be back :)

They did a great job on my wedding cake. We were able to taste samples before we picked our flavors and the cake was perfect! We ordered by emailing them. Cake wasn't cheap but it was much cheaper than what other bakeries quoted us. Our wedding coordinator said this is the only place she'd pick up from as she knows they pack the cakes so well. They also give you a grip for the bottom of the cake not to slide in the car and show you how best to transport and cut to serve. 10/10, ordering all our cakes from here moving forward. Our cake was vanilla with white chocolate mousse and chocolate with chocolate mousse.

I had a baby in bloom themed baby shower and takes the cake nailed my inspo picture! We ordered lemon raspberry and it was so delicious - very moist cake with the perfect sweetness in the frosting. This is my second time ordering a cake here and I will continue to use takes the cake for all my events. They make it easy and straightforward to order and pick up. Keep up the good baking!

Look how amazing !!! And the props

The best to ever do it in Dena!! I love their cakes got a cake for my sister retirement party and it was perfectttttttt!!! OMG so tasty and moist! I have been coming here for years and every occasion for a reason!!! The art work is so bomb and they give you exactly what you want! They never disappoint me!!! If you want a cake that tastes VERY good come here!! You will not regret it! Good service, and reasonable!!

We had the red velvet cake for our wedding and it was delicious. Everyone complimented us on our cake. We highly recommend Takes the Cake for your next event.

We went to "Takes the Cake" for our wedding cake, and it was the best choice we would have made! The cake was beautiful, delicious (red velvet and funfetti), and the price was right as well. We loved the cake so much we went back to order a birthday cake from them a few months after!

The Design I asked them to follow

I ordered a Sonic-themed cake for my son's 7th birthday, and it was perfect! This was my first time ordering here, and they nailed the design exactly as I requested. The communication during the ordering process was super easy, and the cake was delivered right on time. Lynn and Shazi were amazing! All the guests, including the kids, couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. My son really loved the cake and said " Wow, This is the best cake ever! Highly recommend! *We provided the Sonic Characters For this cake.

    Disney's brave inspired cake.

Hands down best tasting and best looking cakes if you need to make a statement at your party. Customer service is also great! Don't miss out!

I drove all the way from Long Beach to visit my discount hobby mechanic Bobby; and yes it was worth the one hour drive. One because I had an amazing ice cream and two; I by passed a tune up at Fletcher Jones Toyota of Carson who for some reason didn't honor the previous warranty, because "Fletcher-Jones is now the new owner of the Carson location." In a sense, I am thankful for the grifting, because it lead me here. If you're indecisive Kinrose Creamery does offer samples. I ended up ordering two scoops of Saffron Pistachio Rose, & Orange Flower Pistachio. I definitely savored this unique frozen dessert in this unforgivable heat. Loved my choices and I will be coming back through the summer. The customer service is excellent, the establishment is very clean, & nicely decorated as well. It appears they have local art on the walls, and it's also well air conditioned. Additional information: parking is a bit of a hassle in this area. I ended up paying for a one day parking pass, which is ten bucks and having to walk about two blocks. I did not mind the short stroll but do recommend to look up neighboring businesses to get the best out of the one day pass. There's a pottery painting workshop near by, a spa, furniture shops, and also an amazing tea place adjacently across the street.

A Little Cheat Night Never Hurt Nobody!…read more After eating the juiciest chicken ever at Loli Farms, I've been eyeing this dessert spot for a while, and luckily it was only 1.6 miles away. So obviously... dessert was happening. Perfect excuse for a little cheat-night treat! Parking Hack: Don't pay $5 for parking! We parked about 7 minutes away in a parking structure for only $1 for 2 hours. After all the delicious food I inhaled, I definitely didn't mind getting a little extra cardio in. Pasadena parking is definitely doing the most, so parking structure it was! Mango Melon Shaved Ice -- $8.50 | 7.8/10 Mango-flavored shaved ice topped with melon balls and served with a side of milk drizzle. The shaved ice itself was SO soft and fluffy, and the milk drizzle gave it just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing was... I really couldn't taste much mango in the shaved ice. It was pretty subtle, so I wouldn't say this one completely blew me away, but it was still a refreshing treat on a hot summer night. Definitely not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst! Injeolmi Shaved Ice -- $7.50 | 7.7/10 Milk-flavored shaved ice topped with mochi, layers of Injeolmi powder, and more milk drizzle. This was actually our first time trying Injeolmi, so we were curious! The combination of the soft shaved ice, milk drizzle, and nutty Injeolmi powder was really good and made for a fun flavor combination. My only complaint? THE MOCHI. They were soooo tiny! I wanted that satisfying chewy squish, but these little guys basically tasted like mini boba that disappeared the second I bit into them. The shaved ice itself was perfectly soft and honestly the star of both desserts. Inside, there aren't a ton of tables, but luckily we snagged one right when we walked in. And let me tell you... this place had a constant flow of customers the entire hour we were there! People were coming in and out left and right, with only one ordering machine, so expect a little patience if it gets busy. Overall, both shaved ices were pretty decent and made for the perfect little "I already ate too much but I'm still getting dessert" moment. Definitely a nice way to break the diet after our chicken feast! Would I come back? Absolutely, especially to try some of their other shaved ice flavors. Happy desserts!

The Egg Heaven was honestly one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had. The flavors were light but still incredibly satisfying. It was also definitely worth the price, it came with three pieces, which was more than enough to share between two people. The Iced Honeycomb Latte was just as good. If you prefer your coffee less sweet, you can always ask for less dalgona. On top of the great food and drinks, the staff was incredibly friendly. Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

The cafe, one of…read morethree in the area, is mostly kitchen & counter with a small bar counter with six stools facing the window & a handful of tables inside. It is not really cute or aesthetic in any way... and the whole place could use a refresh. There is a covered patio with a few tables outside but at the moment it is a bit haphazard and not the nicest because the space next door is doing construction & there is a large dumpster on Green Street. We ordered Black tea & Floral Pineapple Blossom tea drinks, Peach Crepe Cake and a Peach Souffle Pancake ($17.50) via the kiosk. When you order, you receive a text that lets you know your order number, has a receipt, and also an expected time of delivery. The drinks were ready about 15 minutes. They were both fine, and prepared correctly. The peach crepe cake was brought out a few minutes later. My mom enjoyed it and it looked very pretty. Then the time that the entire order was supposed to be ready came and went. I checked in with Nick at the counter and he said that my souffle pancake would be ready in 5 minutes. About 7 minutes later, when my mom was done with her cake. Nick brought it over and set it down in next to me. It was jiggly, huge, and very wobbly. I slid it over so it was in front of me, and the top pancake fell off of the stack, and flipped over so the whipped cream side was on the counter. I tried to flip it back over and put it on top of the stack, but it fell apart. At this point, I was so frustrated with the situation and grossed out by the possibility of eating whipped cream and pancake that had been on the counter, that I asked Nick to remedy the situation. He offered to make a new pancake, but since this one had taken 40 minutes to come out, I was not willing to wait that long again. He kindly offered an alternative suggestion which I accepted. I tried the Creme Brulee crepe cake which was mildly flavored and pretty tasty. (Maybe I should have just gotten it in the first place, but I had really wanted to try the souffle pancake which I've since & sadly lost interest in.) With that, we bid Motto adieu, and it is unlikely that I will return. A few additional notes: Parking in the area is metered and $1.25/hr with a max of 2 hours, the single bathroom is functional, but there is some problem with the ceiling (there is a gaping hole covered by plastic) making for an unpleasant and potentially unsanitary situation. This should be remedied immediately! Peace.

Very disappointing experience with how we were treated…read more We went here for lunch last weekend and waited about an hour and a half for a table. When the host at the front, who was managing the waitlist, told us our table was getting cleaned, she pointed to a specific table that was being cleaned by the busboys. Shortly afterward, I saw a customer approached the staff, and they seated him at the same table we had just been told was ours. I immediately asked the manager what was going on. The manager told me that the host had "said it wrong" and that the other customer had a reservation. I understand that reservations need to be honored, but then why were we told that this particular table was ours after we had already waited 90 minutes? We had given our name, followed the waitlist process, and patiently waited. If there was a reservation for that table, the staff should have known and communicated that clearly. The next available table could have been given to the reservation party. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was the manager's attitude toward us compared with his attitude toward the other party. We had done nothing wrong. We were understandably unhappy because someone else was seated at the table we had just been promised. Since the confusion was caused by the restaurant, we would have appreciated at least a meaningful "I'm sorry." Instead, the manager seemed annoyed when speaking with us (think about a cold tone voice and side eyeing). At the same time, he was smiling and friendly toward the other party. The difference in attitude was very noticeable and left us feeling like we were not being treated fairly or equally. This was especially uncomfortable with the difference in our ethnicity and the other party. I cannot say for certain that race was the reason for what happened, but the combination of being passed over for a table we were told was ours, and then seeing the manager treat the other party so differently made it very difficult not to question. I hope the restaurant reviews how its hosts and managers handle situations like this, because customers deserve to be treated consistently and respectfully.

I wish I brought my cooler to bring these back, especially the TTB. I do wish there were better seating inside to accommodate both small and larger groups. Regardless, I have flagged this creamery because I will definitely return and will make sure to recommend to anyone I know that'll be in the area.

They seem to share the storefront with some other businesses, but there were some empty spaces. They had some limited high tops along the front window and one table. However it was really hot where we were sitting for an ice cream shop. Noah helped us with our order and she was super friendly. She was very gracious about offering us samples and telling us about the ice cream shop. So Wanderlust is inspired by global flavors, so you'll see unique flavors here. My cousin and I were pretty full from dinner so we decided to get the Tasting Trio ($6.50). We were told that these would be smaller scoops of each but you get to enjoy the variety, which was perfect for us. We opted for the Kinder, Ube Malted Crunch, and Japanese Neapolitan. This in itself was a nice mix of matcha, Sakura or Japanese cherry blossoms, and Hokkaido milk. All of the flavors were mild and not too sweet. I think my favorite was the Japanese Neapolitan. To be honest I was less excited by my experience with the Irvine location, but the flavors I tried here were much better. My cousin and I had a nice treat. It would have been a tad more enjoyable if it wasn't so hot here.
