When you enter you order from a kiosk, the staff is pretty quiet but it would be nice to interact a bit more especially on a day where the shop is completely empty. I decided to stop by for breakfast one day to finally try their soufflé pancakes, and i will say they are the star of the show. The bacon and sausage are definitely lower quality pre-made items which i typically don't mind, but they do leave a lot to be desired. I got their oolong tea iced with cheese top; the cheese top is great on its own but i didn't enjoy it with the drink. Service: purposely ordered ahead of time, staff didn't even see the order until I arrived. Very cold. Since I ordered online, the bathroom doesn't grant me access, I asked the staff, she was very irritated and pointed the bathroom rule to me. She just hates her job obviously. This was our first time having Japanese souffle pancakes outside of Japan so we were excited to see what we could get here in Southern California after a pretty amazing experience in Kyoto a few years back. Generally speaking, the food was good in a kind of okay atmosphere. They were out of a bunch of things on their menu (including Japanese Omelet and the Air Fried Plant-Based Popcorn Chicken Bowl) which we were really excited about trying...and glancing at the menu today a few weeks after our visit I see these items are still listed as "out of stock." In fact, their menu has 11 items listed that are "out of stock" so maybe they never really have them and should just take them off the menu to not disappoint folks hoping for some of these uniquely Japanese offerings they list. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired...it's a small space with some cute things to do (like a little pool table) but it does feel a little run down and a bit of a departure from the "clean and cute" vibe you'd expect from a place bringing you Japanese culture. Also, the staff (who may also be the owners) seemed unhappy...never a smile or any kind of indication they were happy you were there. Despite all that the food came out quicker than expected and it was all good. The souffle pancakes were, of course, the star...they may not have been as beautifully presented as what we had in Kyoto, but they tasted good and were VERY fluffy. I thought the Ooling Cheese Foam Tea was good and reminiscent of what I've had at other Japanese-style (yet sans fluffy pancake) bakeries around town. We don't live in Pasadena so probably wouldn't make another special trip to have this and we definitely wish they had more of the "out of stock" items that still exist on their menu...but if you're nearby, and you've never had Japanese souffle pancakes, it's worth stopping in. read more

Those are pretty much the only reasons why I go. The few drinks and the soufflé pancake I've had were okay. The drinks don't have a lot of flavor - for instance, the brown sugar milk tea really doesn't taste like brown sugar, and same for the taro milk tea. Boba is chewy but also a bit hard, and lacks flavor. I got the taro Oreo soufflé pancake, and this was just too much sugar from the cream and Oreo crumbs. I much prefer the soufflé pancakes over at Motto Tea where they feel lighter because of how much fruit they use and their presentation is better. The restaurant itself is not clean at all. read more

If you are very hungry don't expect this to fill u up. It's literally one egg, maybe about 12 pieces of small diced potatoes, 3 sausages and very thin pieces of bacon. The drinks were ok. Nothing to brag about. Place could use some cleaning though. The tables were dirty. Given we arrived just after opening I would think nothing should be dirty. But I had to wipe the table myself. I still remember the first time I had stopped in Miss Cheese Tea Cafe was a few years back when the boba soufflé video was making the rounds. I've been back a few times since. The most recent trip I happen to be in the area to do something else and I had noticed it right there so my sister and I swung by afterwards to work to check it out. We were lucky to find parking in the building, but there's only a limited number of spots in there. We first walked in the place was pretty packed. There was a line of maybe five people deep. Sometimes the wait for the souffle pancakes can take a while so we had passed since the wait was going to take a while. A few days later my sister had gone by and we were eventually able to try it out. Overall, it was pretty good and the texture and taste were unique. For my drink I got the strawberry matcha latte and added boba. On occasion, they also run different promotions so that should be a good time to catch a deal. Parking can be a bit tricky here, but otherwise it's worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Good for people like me who have a sweet tooth~ The mango soufflé was okay. It came with three fluffy stacks with mango sauce and real mangos. I was a bit disappointed with the amount of real mangos that come with it. And the sauce tasted very artificial mango. It's not horrible though, so maybe i came on an off day. As for parking you can park in the structure behind the place for free (just don't go past the gate inside). Otherwise the street parking in front is 2 hours from 6am(?)-3pm except Sunday. Drinks are way overpriced, in addition to having to pay a "service fee" just because you're forced to pay/order via a tablet even though there is a live employee who should be fully capable of taking your order, especially given how slow the shop is. My friend and I ordered the Original Soufflé Pancake (with an approximate wait time of 15 minutes for the order) and a few of their drinks. If you are looking for a place for easy access to fluffy pancakes, this is the place. On a weekday, the place is open until 9PM and had plenty of open space to spend time and relax. With free WiFi and a handful of games to play, customers can come and spend long periods of time. The workers were also nice and were efficient at their job. One of the few cons I found is that the milk teas I had did not have smooth and soft boba. The flavor seemed watered down. It's a little charming Cafe with excellent ambiance and it's own kind of charm. I came here on a busy Friday evening (8pm) and the Cafe was somewhat full, but still service was impeccable. For such a small establishment, the drinks and food is worth it too. They also have board games, a mini pool table, a gaming console in the corner and books. New Year, new review, new drink! On today's visit in Pasadena, I decided to give Miss Cheese Tea Cafe another shot. They were quite busy in the kitchen with pick up orders on a Sunday afternoon but their kiosks were still available for orders. This time, I ordered their Signature Taro Milk Tea with boba. Since I cannot have any lactose, I opted for almond milk as a dairy substitute with 75% sugar and less ice. While they charge extra for Almond Milk, I was able to use a coupon code to avail a worthy discount. As I waited for my order, this time the ambiance was more calm/relaxing. My drink was ready within 5 minutes and it was aesthetically appealing. When I took my first sip, their flavors truly improved! Compared to my first order here 5 months ago, I can definitely taste the perfect balance between the taro flavor and almond milk. Opting for less ice made me appreciate the natural taro flavor even more. The boba was chewy but it could be better because was still kinda bland, even at 75% sugar. Despite that, I still enjoyed my drink today. I will still come back to try their other boba drinks and maybe their curry plates too! read more

It was also waaay sweet because they put the maple syrup for you instead of like on the side. Most of strawberries still had part of their stem which I found to be sloppy. The taiyaki was lightly crisp on the outside with a soft and gooey filling for the Nutella and red bean. This is a must. I would order it with ice cream next time for a warm dessert dipped in a frosty cup. The pancake soufflé was so delicate and soft. I would like to start off by saying Miss Cheese Tea Cafe is magical! Truly all around brilliant and I would highly recommend it to locals, travelers... honestly anyone and everyone. Ambience-wise the cafe is really cute and well thought out. They have board games, mini air hockey, mini foosball, mini billiards, an arcade game machine, and a tv with a video game. It takes about 20 minutes for them to make the pancakes, so it's truly a brilliant set up. My sister got the soufflé pancakes with nutella and chocolate and I got the soufflé pancakes with mangoes and added on strawberries. The pancakes were DELICIOUS! So light, airy, and pillowy. They came with fresh whipped cream on the side and each bite was scrumptious. The mango and strawberry pancakes were so incredibly refreshing! I also ordered a Oreo brûlée taro milk with boba (50% sugar level) and throughly enjoyed it! It complimented the pancakes so well. What's the chisme on Miss Cheese? Well, I was eager to find out. When it comes to cocktail trends I'm on top of my game but food & tea trends - not so much, so I was thrilled when I received an invite from the awesome Leonard A to join him on a foodie adventure at Miss Cheese. Miss Cheese is a locally owned Boba tea shop that serves special custom drinks, Boba tea, milk tea, fruit tea, cheese tea, Taiyaki, fried snacks, and Japanese Soufflé, which is an egg based fluffy pancake. Their teas come from Taiwan and they don't use any powders in their beverages - only fresh ingredients. There is ample seating indoors in addition to a mini pool table, games, & books to encourage guests to stay, relax, & have fun. We were on a mission, which was to try the Japanese Soufflé. We made our selection at the kiosk. It was a tossup between Oreo and Nutella. In the end Soufflé Nutella won ($15.99). Leonard also got the Nutella Boba Flow ($7.25) - a Nutella smoothie topped with boba. Mango Loves Coconut ($7.25) sounded good, so I went with that. It was a Mango & Coconut smoothie with crystal boba. I ordered it with zero sweetness. I could taste the mango with coconut on the backend. It was good but would be better at 25 - 50% sweetness (and a little rum too!). I had a sip of the Nutella Boba Flow. The tea overpowered the Nutella flavor. (I'd probably rate the drinks a 3 out of 5). The soufflé took about 20 minutes to make so we kikied and spilled the tea while we waited. Luckily, Leonard noticed that the food served to the table next to us come in to-go boxes even though they were dining in, so he requested ours be served on a plate for a better photo op. (It's all about presentation with us Yelpers.) Not only does Leonard write some clever reviews, he also takes some great photos so I picked up a few pointers. He also showed me the proper way to drink boba. You shake it a few times first and sip from the top not the bottom so you don't accidentally inhale a boba through the straw. When the Soufflé Nutella arrived it was nicely presented. It came with a scoop of Nutella and brûlée on the side topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and maple syrup. They were different than American pancakes. I could taste the egg but overall it had a nice flavor, especially when topped with the Nutella & brûlée. Leonard mentioned that Filipino Soufflé is fluffier and less eggy. I guess I'll have to find a place to try that next. *Small parking lot behind the café or 2-hour parking on the street. read more

Ordered their original soufflé pancake and got it to-go since we couldn't find free parking. Heads up though it is $1 extra to get it to-go. I'd recommend eating it there for freshness and maximum taste. When we got home, it was a bit flatter than it was in the store. It was still delicious though.
