Oh.my.goodness! This is the second time I've had BP and forgot how amazing it is! We stopped by while waiting to get in to DTF and what a perfect snack it was! I ordered the ube puff with ube filling. Usually puffs are too sweet but this was the perfect amount of sweetness. The pump the puff with so much filling, you need to make sure you have a few napkins below. My bestie got the chocolate Dubai puff and said it was perfect and not too sweet. I LOVE bearded papas - I'm here once a week. The guy that helps me is the sweetest - and so accommodating. I had the I unfortunate displeasure of a girl who works here helping me today on Friday afternoon - and gosh she was horrendous. To the point of me fearing she did something to my daughter's ice cream puff - like I got that bad of a vibe from her.I asked her for a plate for my daughter - and she said "we haven't had plates for a long time". I laughed and was like ma'am I was here last week and got a plate...to which she rolled her eyes like I'm a liar. What she didn't realize is I have it on video of my daughter eating her ice cream puff last week from a black plate the guy working has given me every single time. Delicious eclairs. I'm so glad they have a location in Glendale. They now offer a nice variety of glazes and fillings, though my go-to is still the classic with vanilla cream. Service is quick and efficient. My only suggestion would be to provide a small container of powdered sugar on the side for to-go orders, so it can be added fresh right before eating. The area looked disorganized and there was no one to be found for 10 minutes. The space could be a little cleaner. Other customers came by and got fed up waiting. Finally a mother and her teenage girl came. The teen saw the doorbell, probably because it was at her eye level. The main glass area where the register is might be the best location for the door bell as most people go to that area to look for staff. If that is not possible, please try to make the door bell more visible so that it can be seen from a distance. As for the items I purchased, I decided to try the Dubai chocolate shell with the chocolate filling ($5.25) as it looked delicious on your poster. The chocolate shell was too thick that when I bit into it hard enough to crack it, a lot of the filling oozed out of it and onto the paper and my hand. There was also only a light hint of pistachio and more of dark chocolate. I also wanted to try the Sakura matcha eclair with green tea filling which is what I pointed to and ordered, but was given the green tea eclair ($5) instead. I came here to obtain a stamp on my card. I was trying to earn enough stamps so that I could get a yelp goodie bag. Free parking because it's located near the food court at the Glendale Gallaria. Beard Papa is a Santa Claus type of character (cue kindness and a fluffy white beard), named Yuji Hirota, a baker from Osaka, Japan. If you didn't know, the Osaka/Kobe area of Japan is famous for sweets and baked goods. It's my mom's hometown! Beard Papa is celebrating its 25th year and now has over 475 stores worldwide. These are delicate cream puffs and not on an American level of sweetness. These are much more subtle, in the Japanese confectionary style. The filling ratio is a secret recipe- a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard cream and they are $4.50 each, filled to order. I do have two wishes: I wish they had a strawberry cream filling and I wish they'd give you a napkin without having to ask! Other than that, Beard Papa cream puffs are a satisfying treat. I normally get the strawberry puff with coconut cream and my mom approves of the matcha green tea puff with green tea cream filling. Today, I tried the chocolate eclair with coconut filling. 8/9/24 Friday Customer service was horrible when I first visited this location. When I first arrived, the counter was empty, you have to ring a bell in order for an employee to come out and assist. it appeared as if they were already getting ready to close the shop for the day. (Not a treat that I would want to come all the way out here for it unless I'm already in the mall shopping) **I had to re write this review because yelp thought they could remove my previous one under assumption- it actually still counts as a real review because I paid out of pocket for this dessert-so I get to write about my experience and y'all need to leave my review alone. So delicious! My parents and I prefer the big cream puff (regular with vanilla filling and topped with powdered sugar). The exterior is kinda crunchy (not too much) and the filling is very generous. My sister likes the mini versions of those cream puffs. These are more crispy with less filling (not overflowing like the big ones). Regardless, we are more a fan of the original cream puffs. Haven't tried different filling flavors. But I'm certain we don't like the ones dipped in chocolate. We stopped by on the perfect day because they were having their 1 year anniversary celebration with a special promo, buy 1 get 1 free eclair shells all day on 2/19/2023. We got the Green Tea Eclair Shell, Strawberry Eclair Shell, and Honey Butter Eclair Shell (x2) all with original vanilla filling. Our favorite was the honey butter ones. It was so yummy and not too sweet. The green tea and strawberry cream puffs were too sweet, maybe it's the icing on top. Quick service and it wasn't busy at all. I LOVE Beard Papa's, especially this location! It's my favorite place to get desserts at the Glendale Galleria. I usually stop by every time I visit the mall. Service is always super fast! The shells are already made so they just add the filling and hand it to you. I like how you can customize the shell (original or eclair), filling (vanilla, chocolate, or green tea), and they also asked if I wanted powdered sugar on top! When it comes out, the crispy shell with the cold sweet cream makes for an absolutely heavenly treat!!! There's plenty of filling inside as well. Make sure to grab napkins because it can be messy the more you bite into it! Also, the service today was exceptional as my cream puffs were packaged nicely and came in super cute liners, which I haven't seen them use before. Tucked away just off the main food court, the Beard Papa is hidden from most of the foot traffic in that section of the mall. You either have to be looking for it or serendipitously find it while wandering the mall. If you've had Beard Papa's they have excellent cream puffs with a variety of fillings and shells. They're light and airy and are an excellent treat to have while shopping at the mall. They can be a little messy with the powdered sugar and a generous dollop of cream filling so watch yourself. It's mall food court so it's loud and the tables are kind of haphazardly cleaned, but it's a good chance to get off your feet. I recommend this place over the Dunkin Donuts nearby. read more

My girl recommended this place. She loves sweets and desserts. We stopped here during the holidays to get treats for us, and for family during Christmas. First time coming here as we have walked past many times. If I can give zero stars, I would. First, the counter was empty and no employee to be seen. You have to ring a bell to notify them you want help. A young man with chin length hair and blue eyes walked out from the back and attended us. You should be updating your hours to reflect the time you actually close. On yelp it list 8pm. At the actual store front it says 7pm. We got there at 6:40pm. Lights were already turned off and no products were in the case. Employees had pretty much already cleaned up. At least two other families got there almost at the same time and we're also confused. My latest visit to Beard Papa's was good. I couldn't resist. I ended up getting the 6 pack. One thing I did notice was that most of their pre-set paired classic shells and flavors are the best. I don't know why I ever thought that I' need to sorta second guess them. I love their classic custard filling in any and all of the shells, esp the churro one. I wanna get that the next time I stop by, if they still have it. One thing that I can say is that you should let these little guys warm up a little bit from the time that you purchase them. If not, the shell might be a bit hard. It's not a bad hard texture or anything but it might just taste that much bette if you do wait. I got nothing but great customer service. And although there was a rather lengthy line that I was in, it was worth the time. After being a paying customer I was refused a small cup of water. The employee said "we don't really do that here" with a disgruntled look. I also had to ask for napkins (since none were given) and only gave me 2 knowing that the cream puffs are extremely messy. She did not look like she wanted to be working.
