Pink Orchard Cafe really brings new meaning to the phrase "Wake up and smell the roses". With wonderful fresh smells and pastries as far as the eyes can see, my eyes once again had a feast long before my stomach did. I enjoyed their Chipotle chicken sandwich that came on very fluffy but sturdy bread and the chicken was prepared ever so well, with the avocado being a nice note to the new song my tastebuds have learned to sing. I don't often comment on how clean a space is, nor so I often praise work ethic in my reviews, but the women serving us today looked to be some of the hardest working folks I've ever met. They clearly take pride in their food and service and that's always worth pointing out. This place is amazing not only for its food and sweets but for having wonderful ladies working at the counter. Everything we ordered was delicious and nicely presented. We had their Armenian omelet and their egg & bastruma. Their white bread and their cheese that came with our food was also very tasty and delicious. Their Gata is also one of a kind and to die for. I got this recommendation from a friend and we popped in last week for a quick snack after our meeting. I opted to sit a little bit while I enjoyed a couple of cappuccino and some small bites. Not sure I'll ever come again. Wanted a sweet treat last night so I went out to get something from here. The parking situation was a bit awkward but doable. The staff stared me down while I tried to figure out what I wanted and really lacked some customer service manners. I'm Gen Z but even I get weirder out by the Gen Z stare. The brownie I got was giving cosmic brownie and not in a good way. For the same price I could've gone to Vons and gotten something in their bakery section and avoided the weird social interaction I had here. Ok this amazing little shop has some of the best brunch food you could ask for! I ordered the Ajarakan after I saw a picture of it on their menu. Let me tell you! The bread is perfectly warm and crispy. It is delectable. And then the cheese on top is ooey gooey. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I loved every bite of this! My friend preferred the omelette and they put a great Armenian twist on the omelette! Served with warm bread and cheese. It looked delicious! The women who helped us were very kind and our food came out pretty quickly! It's a little shop with some seating outside but it was perfect! Another excellent service and catering by Pink Orchid. We order almost monthly now because their sandwiches are delicious and everyone always asks me about them. They've easily become my go to place. They even helped me out when I was in a bind a week ago for an impromptu party. Today we ordered 2 of their sandwich platters and I also highly recommend their yummy salads. I am a frequent customer here and the service has gotten really bad. I walked in to buy lahmaju asked for 6 veggie and 6 meat and 12 cheese breads. The lady took customers left and right not realizing I was ahead in the line I was in a hurry then a man walked in and said he's wants veggie lahmaju too they were so disorganized that they didn't realize they ran out of some of the things ordered online so this lady decides to tell me I have to wait more so they can make a new batch by this time I was at that counter for over twenty five minutes and told her I couldn't wait anymore and they had plenty when I ordered mine... she then said then too bad we dont have it sorry so she took my order and gave it to the other person. I am so mad at this service I couldn't not say anything about this. A relaxed cafe on the quiet side of downtown Glendale within walking distance from Brand blvd. There are always a couple of locals chilling on the tables outside. One might be able to snag free parking in the surrounding residential streets. Pink Orchid has all day breakfast, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soups, and pastries. I've tried the meat perashki, which was served warm. The exterior was crispy while the interior was soft. The dough reminded me of a donut. I know this sounds weird, but the filling of finely ground meat and spices tasted like a Mcdonald's filet o' fish in a different form! It was good. I also tried a slice of cake, which might have been the Mikado. It was topped with a thin layer of loose-set chocolate ganache. The taste was alright. I liked the stick-to-your-teeth quality of the sponge, but I couldn't tell what the flavors of the cake and cream were supposed to be. On another occasion, my bf bought the large batch honey cake to-go. It was not bad, with the same sticky quality as the other cake. I can't believe I haven't found this place sooner!!! The background music is so soft and calming, the pastries were arguably some of the best pastries I've had in a while, may I add, fresh! I had a coffee and I can't remember the name of this but it was large and it was filled with several different types of vegetables. The pastry was good and filling. Baristas are clueless. Food is meh. Service is awful. TLDR: ordered a mocha, was served a latte, baristas admitted their mistake, yet refused to replace my drink I asked for a mocha and the wifi password, barista told me she doesn't know the password. The barista then had to ask another worker how to operate the machine and proceeded to serve me something which tasted like a basic latte, not like a mocha. I went back up to the counter and asked if they're sure they remembered to include cocoa. The barista who made my coffee said she only used coffee, but a different barista said that normally they're supposed to use a pre-mixed mocha powder?? In any case, they were surprised at my question and it became clear that none of the baristas were aware that a mocha contains chocolate.‍ I then asked if I could replace my beverage for something else, since this isn't what I wanted and I had only taken 2 or 3 sips. At this point they are looking at me like I'm some sort of alien for knowing that mocha contains chocolate, and they said there's nothing they could do. I then asked if they can at least remake it using the mocha powder instead of just coffee and milk, to which again, they responded by saying it's against policy to offer replacements or refunds. I'm not the kind to look down on someone who is new at the job and still learning the ropes, but at least be willing to make amends, especially if you have admitted to making a mistake. read more

Stopped by for lunch a few times; their piroshki is always good, lahmajune and cheese puffs are good too. Their ponchiks (custard-filled deep fried pastry) are delicious, especially the dulce de leche and Nutella ponchik fresh out of the oven. Stay away if you are on a diet or a diabetic... The decor is cozy, 6-7 tables inside and even more outside. Customer service is better than most bakeries in the area, the ladies are polite, with a smile and good attitude (even when you can't decide what you want and are holding up the line...). Parking is ok, sometimes there is street parking available and there is a parking lot across the street. Pink Orchid was one of the 7 Glendale bakeries we tried on our crawl. We tried their lahmajun, their potato perashki, and their cheese borek. High ratings on yelp were the primary incentive to check it out. Well, it was around lunch time on a Sunday, and I was in the area. So why not see what's it all about? The store has large show cases packed with their colorful baking goods, a few indoor tables and some outdoors, and a handful patrons. I ordered a Persian omelette which was prepared in ~10 minutes and was fresh and light - just right, and it came with fresh bread. I also took a fruit cake slice, which was disappointing. We can't really debate about flavors, and those were actually okay. But the item was NOT fresh. And correlating the few patrons and the immense number of items in the show cases, it is safe to assume that they goods are not done fresh every day. At Porto's, there is such a big crowd that all items are turned over in a short time. But here, that does not appear to be the case. Too bad. We tried the lamajun with quite a unique flare...delicious Their version of spanakopita also amazing.
