My first visit to Unique Bakery, and I'll be back frequently. My first impression, the gracious lady behind the counter in an apron, was warm, inviting, knows how to start a conversation, asked if family was safe, thanked me for wearing a mask, and was the sweetest person behind a counter, that I've encounter. Now to the desserts. They are delicious, prices were surprisingly low and they serve sandwiches too! They open early, my next work breakfast snack..this is the place I'm going!

Both my parents have passed away since my last review. Thanks so much for always being so friendly. Some of our last memories together are here.

Just a bunch of different pastries I asked them to just pick a couple of the most popular ones

The only words I can describe these pastries are delicious. Took him to work to share with everyone and it was a success

Has walnut and cinnamon OMG!!! So delicious and fresh

Delicate, and light fresh baked goods! I was greeted by a very kind gentle guy at the front counter who I believe is part owner. He kindly pointed out the baked goods to the left and to the right of him; some I was already familiar with but the taste was nothing like I've tasted in other bakeries. The walnut and cinnamon baked bread is spectabulous! A lady walked in after me and I started to market some of his baked goods myself! Anywho, the place is clean, and simple. Just ask what the ingredients are and they will be more than helpful to tell you!!

Did you used to have another name? Do they use French flour?

I believe this was the bakery where I would pick up the most delicious jalapeno cheese bread in the 1980s? I wish someone would tell me if they ever made it! I've since moved but I would travel a thousand miles for a loaf like theirs!

Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café…read more Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café reminded me that we live for the wonderful experiences that remain to be discovered. After a wonderful lunch date with my wife at Raffi's Place (please read my review and thank me later) in Glendale, I decided to look for the perfect dessert. After scouting several nearby locations, I decided I was in the mood for a great cinnamon roll. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café looked like the place that would deliver the experience I was seeking. SDLBC is listed as being in Glendale, but it's located in the historic Old Town of Montrose. That's beside the point; I only mention it because there are additional places to explore just up the street. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and there wasn't much of a selection left, including the highly sought-after cinnamon roll. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly, and I immediately asked if that was all the pastries they had. He said yes. I contemplated leaving because of the nonexistent cinnamon roll, but I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to give the bakery a try since we were already there. So, we basically took half of what remained behind the glass display case: a Peach Almond Croissant, a Raspberry Pistachio Croissant, an Almond Croissant, and then my curiosity focused on a few lonely-looking pastries that were unfamiliar to my discerning eyes. I asked the gentleman what they were, and he replied with something that sounded completely foreign to me: Kouign-Amann. Kouign-Amann (pronounced queen ah-MAHN) is a traditional pastry from the region of Brittany, France. It is often considered one of the richest pastries in the world because it is made with just a few simple ingredients in generous proportions: bread dough, butter, and sugar. Figuring we needed a few more sweets for the road, we took all the remaining Kouign-Amanns. Two were the traditional version, and the other two were filled with crème and blueberry jam. We also ordered a Café Americano and a Café Mocha. While we waited for our drinks, I simply couldn't wait any longer. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I eagerly opened my gift and dug right into the Kouign-Amann. Hesitantly, I tore off a tiny piece with my fingers, expecting nothing extraordinary, and instantly gave birth to a brand-new experience that exploded in my mouth. The crisp exterior gave way to the soft, flaky center, followed by waves of what tasted like delicate honey. I tore off another piece and shared it with my wife. One look at her eyes told me she wanted more. By the time our drinks were ready, we had devoured one of the Kouign-Amanns and confessed to the gentleman behind the counter that we had just experienced pure ecstasy in the form of a pastry. Kouign-Amann is, in fact, one of the richest pastries in the world, so don't let the unfamiliar name keep you from trying one. The Café Americano and the Café Mocha were also exceptionally well prepared. With everything that's happening in the world these days, a simple yet profound experience like this reminded me how wonderful life can still be. Like Arnold said... "I'll be back." Enjoy!

The croissant selection is incredible. I love the indoor seating, but they also have outdoor seating. I washed it down with a short Americano, two shots and I threw in some extra cream. It's delicious. The coffee has a nice mild flavor, but nothing beats the sweets. I have to tell you this chocolate mousse cake is the right portion otherwise I would eat the whole thing in this case the powers that be more wise and gave me a slice and Man was it delicious.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate that you took the time to reply, but I believe your…read moreresponse misses the main issue. Good business etiquette is simple: when a business makes a mistake, it should acknowledge it, correct it immediately, sincerely apologize to the customer, and ensure the customer leaves satisfied. That builds trust and demonstrates accountability. Instead, much of your response focuses on explaining that the price tag may have been moved accidentally by staff or customers. Those are explanations, not accountability. This was one of the last two pieces left in the display, and the incorrect price tag should have been noticed well before my purchase. As I also stated in my response to the Agricultural Commissioner of Weights & Measures Inspector, I am almost certain that after I shared my experience and reviews on social media, the pricing discrepancies would have been already corrected. If that is the case, I genuinely hope those changes help make sure future customers are charged accurately and fairly. Regarding the Kyiv cake, my concern is relatively minimal compared to the pricing issue. It simply did not taste as good as it used to. It lacked the freshness and flavor we had previously enjoyed, and it tasted somewhat stale. This is the least of my concern. What concerns me most is the lack of accountability. Businesses earn customer loyalty by owning their mistakes, not by offering explanations for why they may have happened. A sincere apology, immediate correction and a commitment to making things right would have been a much more appropriate response.

Always a pleasant experience at these bakeries. This Glendale bakery café was clean, bright, and beautifully organized with a large variety of pastries, cakes, and drinks on display. I tried the Strawberry Soft Cream Cake, Berries cake, Curry Croquette, and their signature iced Korean lattes. The pastries were soft and flavorful without being overly sweet, and the cakes looked just as good as they tasted. The curry croquette wasn't a favorite of mine. It was my first time trying and the spices didn't amaze my palette. I will have to try their garlic bread next time if I feel like getting something savory. Their sweets are always a hit for me! Overall, the staff was friendly and greeted customers warmly as they come in. Small parking lot at this location but still worth the wait. Good visit!

The stores are clean, the service is perfectly fine, and there's a wide selection of baked goods. That said, I find the pastries overpriced for what you get. Most of the items I've tried have been average at best, especially considering the premium prices. The pastel de nata was disappointing--I've had much better versions at local dim sum restaurants. The black coffee was also a letdown. It was so bitter that I needed to add milk to make it drinkable, and I'm someone who normally enjoys black coffee. Overall, it's a convenient option if you're nearby and there aren't any better bakeries around, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Stopped by because I've been on an Armenian pastry trend at this time. I ended up grabbing some nazook, medium lahmajun, and also decided to give the beef khachapuri kabob a try as I haven't seen that offered at other spots I've tried. Service was quick and on point and the lahmajun did take about 10-15 minutes as they make them fresh. They have a pretty expansive patio where you can enjoy your goodies and hang out. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as it is mostly street parking, but I managed to snag a spot a few blocks away. As for the food, the nazook is amazing and better than a few other bakeries I've tried in Glendale. The lahmajun was also amazing and very flavorful with a good amount of meat. And lastly, the beef khachapuri kabob was amazing! It had that nice smoky charcoal flavor in the meat and worked well with the surrounding pastry. Definitely will be back again and bringing friends to this Glendale gem!

I mentioned it was my first time and ordered a cheese byorek, custard Napoleon and americano, but when she brought my food out on a plate there were a couple extra nazook pastries I didn't ask for. When I mentioned it she said "it's okay it's your first time". So kind of her! the pastries and coffee I paid for came to about $15, the pastries were pretty big so I felt like it was a good deal. The cheese byorek was so flaky and puffy with a really tasty cheese filling throughout. It was still crispy too! Although I liked the flavors of the napoleon, sadly it wasn't crispy at all and pretty soggy. I'm not sure how long this sat in the display but the texture was my only disappointment about it. Coffee was good, simple, and the barista was very nice too. As for the nazook - they were amazing! Me and my mom make nazook at home all the time, but with nuts and a few differences. This did not have any filling per se but it was so fluffy and chewy and crispy on the outside and all buttery goodness! I will definitely be back to Art's

I'm always on the hunt for a Piroshki, one of my favorite delights that I think originated in…read moreRussia and is East European by origin. I think Papillon is Armenian which I believe has European cuisine, as Armenia is considered geographically to be within Western Asia (the Middle East) and the South Caucasus region. Sitting within the mountainous Armenian Highland, it acts as a transcontinental bridge between Eastern Europe and Asia. Their Piroshki is long and thin, whereas I'm accustomed to them being robust short stocky and round almost resembling a giant baked potato in size and shape. So these look like a "Chinese Donut" a.k.a. Youtiao (油条) in size and shape, same girth but length maybe 6"-8" long. What I liked is the filling of the Beef was minced ground beef with sauteed onion bits mixed into a blend and seasoned with a bit of spice but overall was very moist and juicy and the fried dough was very good. So, I'd recommend that. Oddly, I tried the Beef and Potato reluctantly thinking the pure beef option was going to be better... and the Potato was soft and perfect so I'm thinking they're equally good depending on your mood. I tried the beef empanada, and it was very good, similar flavor of the beef empanada to the piroshki but not exactly the same, otherwise I might say the empanada is bigger and gives more protein of the ground beef. The desert shaped like a peach fruit was very good. It reminded me of Asian style deserts where they're not overly sweet and has a healthy refreshing taste more so than being too overwhelming with thick sugary creams. I found out they have multiple locations. It feels maybe the Armenian and Russian community in So Cal are more toward this area and The Valley, so I do have to take what could be a 60-90 minute journey to come here, and even longer of a commute to their other locations. I think they'd do well in the SBBC (South Bay Beach Cities) down South past Santa Monica but before Long Beach and Orange County. I'd recommend this place for the food and service.
