Easy to find something for every kind of sweet tooth: chocolate cakes, cream puffs, tiramisu, cookies, sweet breads, etc. Prices are nicely priced. We got a variety and were happy with everything. I liked seeing that trays of items were completely sold out. Must be good! Service is not the friendliest. It would be better if they got rid of all that junk plastic candy mess on the top of the displays. We were headed back to the West Valley to take our Sweet Granddaughter home after spending the afternoon / early evening at Descanso Gardens. Her mother texted asking if we could bring pastries. It was after 6 p.m., so I turned to trusty Yelp to see what might still be open between Montrose and our destination. This bakery came up, so we stopped in to give it a try. One gentleman was minding both the bakery and the liquor store next door. It wasn't that busy at either place, but he did have to run between the two. He let us know that he'd be right with us, so we had time to look around. The baked goods cases were about half full at 7:00 at night. The man helping us didn't really know anything about the fillings of some of the items that weren't self-explanatory. He got our selections packed up nicely, but it would have been helpful to be able to get more info about some of the cakes/pastries. SG (age 5) boldly chose a cream puff for herself. I wasn't sure if she would like it, but once we got to her house she happily scarfed down half of it, saving the other half for the next day. Dear Hubby and I picked several layers cake pieces, and I added two chocolate-filled cookies. He went for a cannoli, of which they had several options of fillings. I think our daughter and son-in-law made out the best, as we weren't sure what they would like so we got them some Black & White cake, honey cake, espresso cake, and some of the chocolate-filled cookies. This was a random stop, and glad we did. The shop is small but they had a good selection. You can tell from the pictures the pastries are beautiful and they taste how they look. The cashier recommended the Bird Milk over a Honey. The Bird Milk was creamy light and delicious. My favorite was the Nutella pastry, crispy, sweet and just perfect. Popped in for the first time with a friend that was putting together holiday baskets for clients. I'm so happy she did, I would have never found this place on my own. It's teeny tiny store front that is adjacent to a liquor store with a funny name... My friend bought a few trays of amazing cookies and pastries that would be the centerpiece at any holiday gathering (as if we were "allowed" to have holiday gatherings in 2020. But hey, they are freezable right? I purchased the Nutella Napol pastry which was a great bargain for $2.50. It's enough for 2 adults. you could divide it into quarters to be modest, then go back for a second helping if you don't want to be glutenous... actually glutenous would be more apt if you ate the whole thing... which is totally plausible. That's why they have a smaller single serving size for those without self control. I prefer to take a little piece and go back for seconds. But to each their own. (see what pronoun I used there? so PC) I also bought a package of mixed apricot and raspberry pastry that will be great with coffee or tea. Again, the goal is not intensionally or unintentionally eat them all in one sitting. They are little two bites of perfectly light and airy crunchy pastry with a sweet tart swath of jam, sprinkled with powdered sugar. AND! If your attempts with cookie cutters and royal icing turn you into a Grinch this holiday season, they offer a colorful assortment of decorated cookies that are good for eating or display. This is the pumpkin pie that we ordered from this bakery for Thanksgiving. It was all crust with a 1/8 inch layer of pumpkin pie filling. Obviously not edible and we figured that the bakery would want to make it right. Not so. When we went in to get a refund, showing them the pies the next day, they asked us what was wrong it it, and attempted to refuse a refund. We pushed back and they finally issued the refund but yelled at us that we not return. No problem. Just giving other customers a heads up on this pace. read more

Hi. Stale pastries and expired products. I got a couple items because we walked in and it seemed like they've been pretty slow. Do just a couple things. But looking around at the options, many just looked'old'. A package of rose water we bought, I later noticed that it expired over 1 year ago. I went there couple weeks ago. The cashier is very nice. They have a sign No Mask No Entry. I had my mask on of course. I had few questions for the cashier who's was very sweet and had her mask on. She went inside to ask the boss and he came out with no mask and didn't care. I did point it out the mask to the cashier but she shrugged her shoulders. The eclairs...let me tell you.... AMAZING! They were, soft and creamy but super light! I wished I would of got 10 of those, instead of the macaroons. I wish they had more flavors of the macaroons but they were good. The cakes are a little to dry for my taste but not the worst I have tasted and I only tried one cake, so I don't know if the others ones are better. Some of the reviews on here are really funny! I can't believe how horrible some people can be about a business and then how defensive others are about the horrible reviews. Le Bon Patissier is an A-OK French bakery. I picked up some pastries and croissants for a 'brunch' I was doing at my daughter's school and the selection is a bit small, but there's enough to choose from. The croissants were okay. Nothing I would be eager to drive back here and get, but they worked. I think they aren't buttery and flaky enough for my personal taste. They had a few items that were filled with Nutella or incorporated Nutella and of course, I couldn't leave without getting a few of those. The cookies with Nutella weren't great, the waffle thing with Nutella was great, and then I had some sort of philo pastry desert that had Nutella among other things layered. The woman described this as a 'crunchy cake' and it looked really pretty, but basically tasted like baklava with Nutella inserted into it was okay. I wouldn't get that again though. I wouldn't say it was crunchy either. Maybe crispy? The place smells wonderful from the outside and in. It's a very very small bakery so you basically go there to take out the items you purchased. There's two parking spots out front with a couple of tables with mismatched chairs, but do you really want to sit there and inhale Foothill Blvd. traffic? The building is shared with a liquor store that is kept very neat and tidy. (I only know as my son needed to use the bathroom so we had to use the liquor store bathroom. Note: Avoid the liquor store bathroom) Nothing is making me feel like I need to go back, but I would if I needed some French (or French/Armenian) pastries. read more

First and foremost, I don't know why people gave such horrible ratings. THIS PLACE IS A GEM IN THE ROUGH. I've had the pleasure of trying "NEOPOLITAN" cake through a friend. It's not really a cake, but more like croissant-like flaky layers of goodness with creme in between and drove all the way from Santa Clarita to snag me a box. Whether it's a cake, pastry, or bagel, it is a MUST TRY. Not only are their pastries good but more so the son's father whom runs the shop from time to time, the man himself Mr. "Van-noosch" (excuse my pronunciation. He doesn't speak English well, but does speak Farsi and Russian. I spoke with him with my broken Russian and asked me to come before 6pm sometimes to teach him English lessons. What a sweet man. If you want some carbs and treat yourself to some pastries, come to this family owned business instead of Ralphs, Vons, or other hipstery shops, you won't regret it. The cake itself was $18.00 dollars and eclair was over two dollars but when I looked at the receipt, he charged me $20 flat. I wasn't interested in the discount, but the heart behind the counter. Service is great. Always 5/5. My wife and I love their almond toast. On a good day the flavor is 5/5. When it's not a good day though it's a 3/5. Although we are all about supporting local businesses, they the lack consistency in the quality of their food. No matter how much we want to support the friendly owner, it's hard to make it a routine to visit when there's no guarantee that the food will always be good. We understand it's hard to always keep things fresh at a bakery, but if they can make manage to improve their consistency, it should help them grow and capture loyal customers. Good luck! read more

I went to this bakery for the first time today, and I'll definitely return. I parked right in front of the store, and a kind older man helped us. He didn't speak English well, but pointed to the cakes in the refrigerator, so we bought those. I also couldn't resist the apricot pastry cookies, so I got that too. We had enough to feed a whole bunch of people, but it only cost $11. I studied in France in college, and these desserts were the real deal, especially the apricot ones. I highly recommend this.
