It was a particularly hot day when I came here, but I can say with confidence I chose wisely. I had a very tasty taro ice cream that had such a luxurious texture I amost wondered if eating it is what royalty feels like. My partner also had mint chocolate chip which I'm not particularly fond of, but that's the joy of ice cream, different flavors for all involved! I try to eat healthy, so having ice cream isn't something I do often, but after my first sample I knew I wouldn't be able to hold back. I ordered a double scoop and got one of the Orange Creamsicle and one of Nut Your Average Scoop. Both were delicious, but the Orange Creamsicle was my favorite. It was a refreshing take on the classic flavor. I especially loved the bits of orange zest sprinkled throughout. Mark and Mia made their way from Denmark to Los Angeles in 2009 initially working in a Danish franchise despite both having a background in ice cream-making. When Covid hit in 2020 with its path of destruction to so many businesses; Mark and Mia decided they should cut their losses and create their own company that they can rely on their decision-making and thus Moo Moo Mia was born. Moo Moo Mia strives to produce Grade-A ice cream using crème de la crème ingredients such as milk from Scott Brother Dairy cows (another sibling company where cows roam free on 900 acres and are hormone free producing sensational milk) and offer unique flavor combinations. After a recent poor gelato experience at another LA business; my boyfriend and I decided to reward ourselves with ice cream from Moo Moo Mia on Honolulu in Montrose (this was our second time at this location). Nestled in the charming central Montrose corridor; Moo Moo Mia welcomes with a pastel color wheel façade/signage and a small square footage ice cream shop. When I say 'small'; I genuinely mean small as Moo Moo Mia is tiny with a display case/order counter and a claustrophobic standing room space with a few loose tables outside. This is definitely an "order and get out" establishment. Due to this congestion, Moo Moo Mia felt a bit hectic on both of our visits which always makes one feel guilty to ask for samples in order to not hold up the line. The flavor options at Moo Moo Mia aren't super extensive (there isn't that much to choose from) BUT there do have those unique combinations Mia and Mark boast of with pride. I have sampled a few flavors at Moo Moo Mia such as Honey Lavender (Sweet cream ice cream layered with delicate ribbons of lavender and finished with a touch of raw organic honey - so good with perfect lavender notes!), March flavor of ice cream with Luck Charms marshmallows and Sweet Taro. On our second visit, my boyfriend kept it simple with a single cone ($5.50) of Madagascar Vanilla Bean (Made with imported ground Madagascar vanilla beans) and a kid's cup ($4.25) of March's monthly flavor Coconut Ube for me. Mark and Mia aren't exaggerating about Moo Moo Mia's ice cream as it truly is quite good: creamy, thick and not overly sweet; the texture is perfection. The Honey Lavender holds my heart but the Coconut Ube was also delicious although it tasted of 95% ube with a small 5% after taste of coconut water. Good thing I like Ube! My boyfriend's vanilla was, in his words, "The best vanilla!" and I agree that Moo Moo Mia truly elevates a basic flavor making it extra special. The consensus is that the ice cream is wonderful, no doubt. The customer service at Moo Moo Mia leaves a lot to be desired, however. During both visits the associates were very dry, somewhat curt - although not rude, per se - and are literally only there to get the job done and that's it. Even though this isn't too terrible; it prevents Moo Moo Mia from being a perfect experience. Moo Moo Mia is a delicious and quality option for an ice cream treat that you can truly taste but the lack of numerous flavor options, the teen-tiny shop and the customer service are flaws that keep it from being exceptional. I have visited MooMoo Mia several times since they took over the location from Paradis, which moved down the street closer to Gus and Andy's. They have good technique for making consistently good ice creams and sorbets. The flavors change frequently, but some standby ones remain. The strawberry sorbet tastes of freshly picked summer berries. Frankly, it's my favorite place for strawberry sorbet. My companion and I immediately visited this location yesterday evening after an unpleasant experience at Paradis. Service was quick, friendly, and we were able to try two new flavors before ordering. The ambiance is tough to gauge because it's tight inside the shop, but there is outdoor seating available. The shop itself is cute. Portion sizes are great--a child's scoop is just right for an after dinner treat. At $4.50, it's a good deal because it's about the same size as an adult single scoop at Paradis, which charges $5.50. I had the honey lavender, which was a new flavor for me. The honey was not cloyingly sweet and the lavender was delicate enough not to be overpoweringly floral. It was a very pleasant combination. The only complaint that some people might have is the number of flavors available. That being said they rotate the flavors frequently so it's actually a good place to discover something new and not get bored. read more

Just when you think you've tasted every delicious flavor of ice cream, a long comes a small brother and sister shop that changes the game. This incredible parkour takes its creativity very seriously. They have the standard flavors you would expect and then the eyes see combinations you were not expecting. For myself, I saw one offering that I knew instantly I had to try. Kate, the friendly server behind the counter offered me a taste sample. She handed it to me on a spoon that was not made of plastic. It was an actual silver plated spoon. I knew then in there that this wasn't just any ordinary ice cream factory the selection I chose was a White Chocolate and Bischoff blend. I love White Chocolate and I love Bischoff cookies. The combination was as perfect a pairing as ham and eggs or Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Kate was so pleased at my reaction. When she told me that they change flavors monthly, I asked her if this flavor would be staying for a while. Sadly, she told me it's probably going to be replaced next month and I instantly asked her to please tell the owners how incredible this flavor is so they will keep it or at least bring it back I don't usually go berserk on ice cream, but this store and the people who work there are so incredibly kind, I am going to have to make my way back to this town as soon as possible . The prices are incredibly low as well. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was and how tasty their ice cream is. The ambiance is also pleasant and very clean. Finally a nice, warm day that created an excuse for an ice cream scoop! While walking around Montrose, my husband got a craving so we stopped by Moo Moo Mia to check out their flavors which seemed enticing. We sampled one of their flavors of the month: rose water pistachio ice cream which was nice (they do change flavors monthly, so that adds variety). We settled for stracciatella and dulche de leche with brownies. Both, nice, creamy, fun flavors with adds on. Very nice customer service, the young lady working here was helpful and fun to char with. Tried their strawberry sorbet and their vanilla bean ice cream, both in a waffle cup. There was nothing bad here at all. They gave out samples and were friendly. The strawberry sorbet was hands down the best strawberry sorbet I've ever had. I like ice cream, but I'm not like a huge aficionado. I like strawberry sorbet/gelato, but to me it kinda tastes the same, wherever you can get it. But not here. This one stands head and shoulders above others--it's pretty amazing. We felt like some ice cream after a long day of Volleyball. We found this awesome ice cream shop in Montrose. They had some special flavors that we tried like Sweet Taro and Honeycomb & Cornflakes. Both these flavors were so good! The honeycomb cornflakes was like eating cereal and milk. We also tried their Banana nut bread, as well as the limited edition, which was a peanut butter flavor. The nice server asked if we had any allergies to walnuts, because the Banana nut bread contained them. Very professional to ask! All flavors were so good, not too sweet, very creamy, and simply delicious. It's a small venue that also sells the flavors in to-go pints. Service was great and very helpful and friendly staff. Found this place while partaking in the wine walk this weekend. We had looked it up and the seasonal flavors sounded tasty. There was a little bit of a line (always a good sign) but it moved pretty smoothly and we were attended to in no time. They let us sample a few flavors. My partner and I originally went in thinking we were going to order their seasonal flavors but after testing a few other options we went with the strawberry sorbet and the chocolate something. They sounds basic, but they were GOOD! I later found out that their fruit sorbet changes depending on what they can get from the farmers market or local fruit vendor. I don't usually go for strawberry but I really enjoyed it here. My partner really enjoyed his chocolate flavor too. It was rich and just decadent enough. We both got single scoops and at first I thought, that's pretty small, haha. But honestly, it's more than enough. I don't know if it was because of the wine walk going on at the same time, but there was little space to sit and enjoy.
