We came 15 min before closing time and the servers were so sweet, they welcomed us in and reminded us we could sample the flavors. Every single flavor was so delicious and creamy. They do have 1 dairy free option. My favorites were the Mais con queso, Louisiana banana (like turon w vanilla icecream), and calamansi creamsicle (so refreshing)! The decor is so cutesy and homey with homage to their Filipino roots and some indoor and plenty outdoor seating! They also have free stickers! Loved loved loved it and will be back for many sweet treats!

Was so happy to hear of a Filipino ice cream spot opening in this area. Prices are fair, staff is friendly, and there is a nice outdoor seating area as well as some limited seating inside. The last time I went, we ordered their flight which is 4 slightly smaller than standard (but still decently sized) scoops. We realized that they'd given us one of the wrong flavors, and the team kindly offered to give us an entirely new flight! We declined, as we couldn't finish that much ice cream, but thought that was very generous customer service. My favorites are the turon, mais con queso, and Louisiana banana. I've also tried the buko pandan, halo halo, tsokolate, Milo crunch, calamansi creamsicle, and all are well-balanced, not too sweet, and flavorful. They all taste true to their Filipino flavors/desserts they're inspired by and have creamy, non-icy textures. Their waffle cones are also excellent! Come support this amazing ice cream spot!

Love, love, love this place! Such a cute addition to the neighborhood. Great flavors and best of all, not overly sweet. Latest fave is the mango matcha!

Ice Cream: 10/10 EVERY SINGLE flavor was AMAZING! Just pick one and it won't disappoint you! I ended up getting the calamansi creamsicile and milk/avocado. But DEFINITELY get/try the Turon. The flavor was great but then that after taste hits you and BAM HEAVEN! Never thought I'd like ice cream this much! Best believe Im going to let all the people i know about this spot! Ambiance: 8/10 Cute, simple, cozy vibes. Adorable! Service: 10/10 Shout out to Clark! It was our first time there and he was so nice and kind! He was so patient with us while we picked out our flavors. GREAT service! Tips: Parking lot it's small, so you may have to find street parking or parking in the neighborhood. If possible.

New Filipino Ice Cream shop in the Glendale area that's worth checking out! I visited this ice cream spot on opening day and they had a buy one get one free scoop deal so my friends and I shared a variety of flavors! Here's what we tried: -Buko Pandan: The flavor was on point in this one! I loved the coconut and pandan flavors. -Mais con Queso: The flavor was also on point! I was surprised at how good this one was. Creamy and corny flavors that reminds me of the ice cream in the Philippines. Warning that this is pretty strong in corn flavor. -Milo Crunch: Chocolaty and crunchy. Indulgent and yummy. -Louisiana Banana: Reminds me of desserts Filipino aunties make. Surprisingly good and I liked the banana flavor. -Calamansi Creamsicle: Tart and creamy. -Turon: Flavor was on point, but I didn't like the texture. Would recommend crunchier spring roll bits. -Halo-Halo: This one tasted like a cake cone to me. Not my most favorite flavor. All the ice cream was generally creamy and delicious. They did melt pretty quick though. Around $6 per scoop I believe. The service here was pretty good and the staff were nice. They also explained the flavors to my friends. There's tables and seating, but outdoors only. They also have complimentary water cups which is nice. For the bathroom, it's behind the restaurant. For parking, there's ample street parking nearby.

Perla's is so cute with some seating inside and outside. Their ice cream is smooth and creamy with exotic filipino flavors. I appreciate the reasonable sizes, especially if you're full and just want to squeeze in a little satisfying dessert. This shop is is very "Masarap!!!" :-)

My wife and I got to spend the day with our daughter because she was serving as a Moderator for a Filmmaker Panel and we were blessed to see her excel at something she had not done before. Despite claiming she was nervous, we could not tell one iota and she seemed a natural at something she was doing for the first time. We were so proud of her. Our daughter thanked us by treating us to lunch and then taking us to Perlas Ice Cream shop for dessert. She has wanted to take us here for sometime and she raved about how amazing the ice cream was. We wholeheartedly concur with her positive assessment of Perlas. If you're a fan of Filipino/Asian inspired ice cream flavors, you'll love this business. You don't even have to be Filipino or Asian to enjoy the ice cream here. It's quality and flavorful ice cream for anyone. Besides the ice cream, the stellar customer service from the young Filipino dude made our first time visit a noteworthy one. Perlas can be found in Glendale, CA., specifically in the Montrose neighborhood. There's a row of businesses on Oceanview and Verdugo Avenue. It's parallel to Schreiner's and a short walk to Domino's Pizza. There's free parking close to the shop and there's street parking. Perlas is a small ice cream shop with a small indoor seating area consisting of cushioned bench style seating. There is covered outdoor seating where there are pink metallic round tables and pink folding chairs adjacent to trees providing more shade. Inside the shop, the focal point are the rows of ice box storage containers holding the ice cream; there is decorative lighting; I really enjoyed the shelves on one wall that held Filipino grocery items; the framed pics of family and other items representing the Filipino culture was a nice touch; and I really liked the hidden drawer in the order counter that had packs of Lactaid. Kudos to the young Filipino dude who was friendly, accommodated our sample requests, and provided outstanding customer service. From Google, Perlas Ice Cream is a family-owned, Filipino-inspired ice cream shop, known for unique, handcrafted flavors like ube, strawberry matcha, and banana foster with a Filipino rum swirl, blending Southeast Asian influences with classic desserts. My daughter had visited Perlas previously and had told me that I would enjoy visiting because they serve Filipino style ice cream. She was totally right that I would love the ice cream and my effusive praise for their ice cream started after I tasted the samples I requested. I asked to taste Buko Pandan, Turon, Louisiana Banana, and Mais Con Queso. I also tasted Ube because my daughter requested that as a sample. Out of the several samples, I ordered a double in a cup of Buko Pandan and Turon. Buko Pandan is coconut and pandan ice cream. Turon contains caramel, saba banana, jackfruit, and toasted spring roll wrapper. It was flavorful from first taste, creamy, provided respite from the warm weather, and I savored every bite. Out of the two ice cream flavors I consumed, my favorite was turon, which is a popular Filipino dessert that's a sweet spring roll filled with ripe saba bananas and jackfruit, coated in brown sugar, and deep-fried until crispy and caramelized. Perlas turon was that dessert, but in ice cream form, and it is a Must Order. It truly was a blessing to watch our daughter do her thang and to spend quality time with my two fave ladies. The cherry on top of the proverbial whip cream sundae was our visit to Perlas Ice Cream and their ice cream needs to be in that proverbial sundae. Seriously, it's that delish!!

Solid spot in the La Crescenta/Glendale area! Loved the Filipino-inspired flavor options. We got the flight and the split so we could try 6 half scoops, and it was super fun tasting everything. We tried the white coffee, ube, halo halo, calamansi creamsicle, mais con queso (corn flavor), and Milo crunch -- all were solid. Also loved sampling flavors like Turon and Louisiana banana! Only reason I'm not giving it a full 5/5 is because I usually gravitate more toward fruity/sorbet-style flavors, but I'd definitely recommend this place if you're into rich, creative flavors! Service was great. Parked in the lot.

Beautifully crafted ice cream! My family has been eyeing this place ever since they had their soft opening, and we finally got to try it last night. There was a lot of love for the Milo crunch, calamansi creamsicle, buko pandas and the choconut(dairy free). All three of the staff greeted us when we walked in. The lady who served us was sweet, friendly, and offered samples. You can tell this ice cream was made with love for the Philippines! Inside is decorated with touches of the PI and a small seating area. Outside has plenty of patio chairs and tables to enjoy your treat. It's heartwarming to see my culture be represented in a successful small business a half a mile away from me. Please support them!

Perlas is a Filipino-owned ice cream shop with some amazing Filipino-inspired flavors on their menu. To get here, they have a small parking lot or street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a couple booths for seating and then some additional tables outside as well. Wifey ended up getting a scoop of the Mais Con Queso and I opted for the Calamansi Creamsicle. We really enjoyed the richness and flavor profiles of our orders. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely stop by to support and try out some of their awesome Filipino-inspired flavors!

Earlier this year, my friend & I checked-out Perlas Ice Cream for the first time. It was a warm Saturday afternoon, so everyone had the same idea to get ice cream! We found street parking in the nearby residential area and arrived at around 2:30pm. There was a line out-of-the-door with only two staff members working, so we waited about 10 to 20 minutes to order. Although there was a queue, the service and overall experience were great. The staff member was generous with samples and offered to keep our pints in the freezer while we enjoyed our ice cream in the shop. The shop's small, but homey with nostalgic decor and a sunlit indoor seating area. There were a few seats outside of the shop as well. My friend & I shared a flight of four flavors ($14). My faves were the Mais Con Queso (creamy & light with a good amount of corn pieces) and Calamansi Creamsicle (like a fizzy citrus drink and fun contrast to the other flavors). As mentioned, we did buy pints ($16/each) to take home; I chose a pint of the Buko Pandan, which had a pretty green color, light pandan flavor, and specks of coconut. We'd definitely return to Perlas, if we're in the area!

Bummer - the ice cream was just OK. Popping all over my algorithm, I was curious to try out the newest Filipino ice cream shop that had opened up. We bought two flights to try eight flavors, and I found only three decent: Black Sesame, Peach Mango Graham & Calamansi Creamsicle. The black sesame had a solid nutty flavor and wasn't overly sweet. The peach mango graham had good texture, and the flavor wasn't subtle. The calamansi creamsicle was tangy. We tried the usual Filipino flavors like Ube, Buko Pandan, & Mais con Queso. The flavors were flat. The Red Bean and Pineapple Cake was overly sweet. For two flights, it costs $37.13, including tax and tip. No notes on the service, it was good. The place is clean. Glad we tried them once! Best of luck Perlas!

Super solid ice cream place with interesting and tasty filipino flavors! My party tried strawberry chili, calamansi creamsicle, ube, white coffee, guava cheesecake, and black sesame, and they were all so good it was hard to choose. Even my Chinese mom who doesn't like most desserts loved all the ones she tried. Staff is very nice and was happy to let us sample multiple flavors. Indoor space is cozy and bright, and if the seating inside is filled, there is plenty of shaded space on the cute patio outside. Also a lot of free parking available. If you come on a Sunday, you can find the Montrose farmer's market just down the street.

Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

This cafe has potential but at the moment it is not quite living up to the hype. The cafe, one of…read morethree in the area, is mostly kitchen & counter with a small bar counter with six stools facing the window & a handful of tables inside. It is not really cute or aesthetic in any way... and the whole place could use a refresh. There is a covered patio with a few tables outside but at the moment it is a bit haphazard and not the nicest because the space next door is doing construction & there is a large dumpster on Green Street. We ordered Black tea & Floral Pineapple Blossom tea drinks, Peach Crepe Cake and a Peach Souffle Pancake ($17.50) via the kiosk. When you order, you receive a text that lets you know your order number, has a receipt, and also an expected time of delivery. The drinks were ready about 15 minutes. They were both fine, and prepared correctly. The peach crepe cake was brought out a few minutes later. My mom enjoyed it and it looked very pretty. Then the time that the entire order was supposed to be ready came and went. I checked in with Nick at the counter and he said that my souffle pancake would be ready in 5 minutes. About 7 minutes later, when my mom was done with her cake. Nick brought it over and set it down in next to me. It was jiggly, huge, and very wobbly. I slid it over so it was in front of me, and the top pancake fell off of the stack, and flipped over so the whipped cream side was on the counter. I tried to flip it back over and put it on top of the stack, but it fell apart. At this point, I was so frustrated with the situation and grossed out by the possibility of eating whipped cream and pancake that had been on the counter, that I asked Nick to remedy the situation. He offered to make a new pancake, but since this one had taken 40 minutes to come out, I was not willing to wait that long again. He kindly offered an alternative suggestion which I accepted. I tried the Creme Brulee crepe cake which was mildly flavored and pretty tasty. (Maybe I should have just gotten it in the first place, but I had really wanted to try the souffle pancake which I've since & sadly lost interest in.) With that, we bid Motto adieu, and it is unlikely that I will return. A few additional notes: Parking in the area is metered and $1.25/hr with a max of 2 hours, the single bathroom is functional, but there is some problem with the ceiling (there is a gaping hole covered by plastic) making for an unpleasant and potentially unsanitary situation. This should be remedied immediately! Peace.

Not only was the flavor amazing (which made me want to return and try them all) but the presentation was definitely instagram worthy. Location is in old town so parking might be a challenge.

A Little Cheat Night Never Hurt Nobody!…read more After eating the juiciest chicken ever at Loli Farms, I've been eyeing this dessert spot for a while, and luckily it was only 1.6 miles away. So obviously... dessert was happening. Perfect excuse for a little cheat-night treat! Parking Hack: Don't pay $5 for parking! We parked about 7 minutes away in a parking structure for only $1 for 2 hours. After all the delicious food I inhaled, I definitely didn't mind getting a little extra cardio in. Pasadena parking is definitely doing the most, so parking structure it was! Mango Melon Shaved Ice -- $8.50 | 7.8/10 Mango-flavored shaved ice topped with melon balls and served with a side of milk drizzle. The shaved ice itself was SO soft and fluffy, and the milk drizzle gave it just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing was... I really couldn't taste much mango in the shaved ice. It was pretty subtle, so I wouldn't say this one completely blew me away, but it was still a refreshing treat on a hot summer night. Definitely not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst! Injeolmi Shaved Ice -- $7.50 | 7.7/10 Milk-flavored shaved ice topped with mochi, layers of Injeolmi powder, and more milk drizzle. This was actually our first time trying Injeolmi, so we were curious! The combination of the soft shaved ice, milk drizzle, and nutty Injeolmi powder was really good and made for a fun flavor combination. My only complaint? THE MOCHI. They were soooo tiny! I wanted that satisfying chewy squish, but these little guys basically tasted like mini boba that disappeared the second I bit into them. The shaved ice itself was perfectly soft and honestly the star of both desserts. Inside, there aren't a ton of tables, but luckily we snagged one right when we walked in. And let me tell you... this place had a constant flow of customers the entire hour we were there! People were coming in and out left and right, with only one ordering machine, so expect a little patience if it gets busy. Overall, both shaved ices were pretty decent and made for the perfect little "I already ate too much but I'm still getting dessert" moment. Definitely a nice way to break the diet after our chicken feast! Would I come back? Absolutely, especially to try some of their other shaved ice flavors. Happy desserts!
