I wasn't expecting this to be so good. I thought it was going to be more heavy, although it was decadent it was not overly heavy. They have a good variety of coffee drinks, as well as some great breakfast sandwiches. Staff was really friendly. There's not a lot of parking in front of the building or a lot of seating, but I saw people coming and going pretty frequently.

Super yummy muffin sandwiches! Vibes were calm and great. Coffee wasn't my favorite, but their sandwich was so good! Service was straightforward and chill. The muffin sandwich was so good, I got it two days in a row for breakfast, don't sleep on them! It came with a delicious creamy sauce that made it taste even better with every bite!

Came here on a rainy Sunday morning and ordered and received my food really quickly. I got the Show Stopper sandwich, which usually comes with bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, hash brown, and cali sauce, but I replaced the bacon with an Impossible patty. I like how you can customize all their sandwiches to make them vegetarian by swapping the meat for an Impossible patty or just removing the meat completely. The sandwich was really delicious and I especially liked the chipotle aioli sauce. Super worth a try if you're in the area and I'd definitely come back! I want to try their coffee drinks too.

I don't get the hype for this place. It's not bad but it's not great and just nothing special. The girl working cashier Saturday morning couldn't lack any more life inside her. I mentioned it was my first time and asked what was recommended, she couldn't even give me a straight answer. I ordered the Americano ( $8.50 ) and added a hash brown ( $1.95 ) Considering the prices of breakfast sandwiches or any sandwich in LA, I'd say it's reasonably priced. But it's also nothing that I'd go back for. With the English muffins being made in house, (according to the cashier) I was hoping for something better but I guess there's only so much that can be done to an English muffin. The spicy aioli also isn't special, it's very dense and oily. And there's no flavor, it's just heat. The hash brown was also soft and mushy, didn't add anything special to the sandwich. The best part to me was how crispy the bacon is.

We had a busy day ahead of us and needed a filling breakfast, so we hopped on Yelp and found this little gem! The layout (inside and outside was so cute! Perfect for little breakfast date vibes). The staff was so friendly and provided great recommendations. Our food was ready relatively quickly and it was very good! The presentation was immaculate and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Will definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Egg and hash brown were cold

Got our food in 1 minute, which was suspicious. Found out eggs and hash browns were pre-cooked. Egg and hash brown were cold and stale. Yolk was overcooked and hard, not runny like the pics. If I'm paying $15 for a tiny sandwich and hash brown, it better be made fresh to order.

Interesting little spot north on Brand Boulevard. You can't miss it as it's got the yellow striped awning out front. In fact, the branding has a yellow and black palette...kind of like, um, the Wu Tang Clan colors! So maybe it wasn't a surprise the guys behind the counter were rocking the iconic Wu Tang Clan symbol on their t-shirts, but instead of the group's name, it said "Muffins." Clever! Anyway, the menu has a bunch of English muffin sandwiches, mainly breakfast. Lots of other coffees and hot beverages are offered here as well. It's a to-go place mainly, although there are a few seats inside and covered tables out front as well that you're welcomed to dine on. I ordered the following: - Classic Americano - 5.5/10: Very basic breakfast sandwich. Not sure why I was expecting something different or out of this world, but it is what exactly is described: egg, cheese, bacon and aioli between English muffins. What would you pay for a sandwich like this that's fair? Well, $8.50 is pretty steep. I will say their muffins are a little larger than the ones you get at the store, so maybe that's why it's an expensive sandwich. - Hash Brown - 5/10: Again, just your super basic hash brown, kind of like the ones you get at McDonald's, but not quite as tasty. And for $2.50? Well, you're probably better off at McDonald's. So yeah, I guess the novelty is this is just a quick pick-up-and-go spot for a breakfast sandwich. If you're a local or work/live around the corner, then I guess this isn't a bad spot for exactly that.

Me and my boyfriend just wanted a quick breakfast on our trip up to NorCal. I got the blast off and my bf got the mother muffin salmon. We didn't do any egg or avocado add on bc let's be real... it's rough out here It was good but to be really honest, I think I could've made the same at home for cheaper. The outside has a seating area that's decorated with plants and it's super cute and vibey.

Food was good... amped up egg McMuffins at an amped up price... Americano Muffin -great flavor with the aioli (garlicky mayo) otherwise standard bacon, egg, cheese on a egg muffin Hash browns are kicked up a notch with seasoning salt which was nice and unexpected Service was meh- Friday am -not particularly busy but there were a handful of other customers. No welcomes, no good Morning, no acknowledgment-nada Pretty much no service, borderline rude. I'm good spending my money elsewhere it feels appreciated. One lady was nice and smiled and she was on the pass. She gets all the stars and is probably doing half of the work too.

Went to this one by mistake not realizing it wasn't the one closer to universal studios. Seemed smaller than the other but had the same menu. Sausage redemption is my go to sandwich, had it with egg white this time. No tea but I've tried the tea at the other location and liked it. Worth a try.

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. I didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't order it again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=Uo_FrA9ezkxhIn4VnwEVtQ Vegetarian Omelette w/Country Potatoes & Sourdough Toast ($18.95): Made with avocado, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, Ortega chiles, pico de gallo, salsa ranchera, spinach, and topped with sour cream, an omelette was also on my eating bingo card. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). We finally had the opportunity to go there for lunch yesterday and it was indeed fantastic! Such a lovely little place!! The inside would be nice for a cozy dinner but since we were there for lunch we chose to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and people watch. (Great location for people watching!) The food and service were both great. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my husband had the LA Cheesesteak Sandwich. Both were delicious. The wrap was different because it was made with balsamic dressing rather than ranch and had croutons inside which gave it a crunch. The cheesesteak sandwich had nice flavor kick to it. We both had french fries and they were cooked perfectly!! Sooooo good!! We will definitely add this place to our go-to list!!

(My husband had the steak and mushroom penne, friends had the Chimchurri steak and the wedge salad) The negatives: I had the shrimp risotto and found it blah. The serving was very small - i feel like American portions are often obscenely large (and don't like that), but this was much smaller than average and I was still hungry after eating it. The flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. And the shrimp were very small - what my husband and I call "bait" shrimp. Not the large shrimp you usually get at a nice restaurant. Since i was still hungry, I ordered a cobbler. It was fine, but not great. Texture was a bit strange - not traditional. Probably won't come back. The food is just not that interesting. It's like the kind of food you'd eat at a Midwestern buffet restaurant.

We thought he was a new employee because he had no clue what he was doing. He had NO personality no interest in general. When he first came to our table he didn't say hello or offer us appetizers or a cocktail. He asked for our dinner order. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and a combo plate. Daniel brought me the wrong taco; the taco was mostly lettuce and cheese very little meat ~ I was surprised because when I ordered this in the past it was excellent and done right (Not his fault tho he did write down my taco order incorrectly). He never came back to our table to check on us. When we were done we asked for a box because we had a lot of food left. He looked at it and brought us a tiny box. What was he thinking?? We asked the bus boy for another and he brought us the correct size. It was hard to get Daniels attention; we tried a few times to flag him down but he wasn't looking at us. We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. Again, he had no clue what he was doing. I suggest the management take a look at this review and address this issue with him. Our experiences here have always been great, been coming for years. We love this place but we would never have Daniel as our server again.
