Was finally able to pop in to try a few of their pastries. I have this odd aversion to anything that looks too perfect (which their desserts do). I think it's because I usually wind up spending too much on too little of whatever the food item is. Well, let me just say that CB has changed my mind!! I picked up a chocolate tart, a pistachio tart, and a tropical eclair. The flavors and textures were magical, with little bursts of hidden flavors adding complexity to the eclair, in particular. I recently undertook a labor of love in coordinating an 80th birthday party for my dearest friend. The task was made all the more daunting by the fact that I live outside Chicago ... and the guest of honor in Studio City, CA, where the party was to be held. Working from long-distance can be complex ... and often frustrating ... but Cool BItes made the transaction an effortless one. Didn't matter what time I called, someone always answered the phone ... and if not, a return call was made promptly as we hammered out particulars for the party. The stress-free lead-up to the gala was just a preview. The end result was nothing short of a sheer triumph, as Cool Bites catering met our expectations ... times twenty! We ordered 6 "bites" for 30 people for a cocktail party and ended up throwing more than half of it out because it wasn't tasty and people did not eat it. The staff was lovely, and the food looked beautiful, so we assumed it was going to be delicious. Naively, we did not try the food beforehand, and were busy hosting our guests, so we just thought people weren't hungry. When we did try a bite we understood why no one was eating more than one "cool bite". I called the next day and the owner argued with me that we have different tastes which did not account for the other 30 people at our party who did not find it tasty enough to eat! $2000.00 down the drain. read more
