Tucked away in the outer neighborhood of Glendale, this spot gives you that perfect blended vibe of New York and Europe. The space is beautiful and offers plenty of seating. They do it all--coffee, food and even wine. Marlowe (Signature): Incredibly good. Orange Cream Signature Drink: Forgot the exact name but the orange cream infusion was phenomenal. Both drinks are absolute hits. A stunning all-day cafe with a killer atmosphere. Definitely coming back during the day next time to dive into their food and wine menu. Solid 5/5.
I was in town visiting my family and friends, and pleased to see this addition to the neighborhood. I think Canada was genuinely missing a spot where locals can come in and enjoy the beautiful city. I visited three times in two days because I was so excited to try different things. The Monte Blanc drink stole my heart. Their breakfast sandwich had the most perfect scrambled egg, and for our road trip, we picked up a few of their baguette sandwiches. Everything was fresh, artisan, and seemed local. Loved it!
A friend of mine showed me this spot and I was pleasantly surprised! I got a latte with their maple cream cold foam , a chocolate croissant , and their buddha bowl. The latte was great , everything a latte should be; the maple cold foam took it over the top for me and tasted exactly like maple. The chocolate croissant was good , slightly crunchy exterior while the inside was still soft. I also loved the chocolate they put in there , they were pretty thick pieces. Now the buddha bowl: amazing. I didn't know what to expect from it but the flavors and ingredients were so fresh and complement each other nicely. I love how they added a whole half avocado! Service was okay! I only say this because orders were taken fast , drinks came out fast , but our food did take a little longer than expected. I assume because the food is made fresh which I can't complain about because it did taste amazing. The only reason I had gotten a croissant is because the food was taking a while and I was hungry lol. But other than that everyone is friendly and welcoming! Ambiance had me by surprise. It looks like a small coffee shop from the outside but there's plenty of seating in the back with outdoor/indoor seating. It's a cozy coffee shop that's inviting. Overall , would come back again and try more of their items!
The most exciting new thing for local Glendale - La Crescenta folk or people like me who make the commute between the two. Loose canon is for sure that! Beautiful colors, interiors, food options, ample amount of seating an of course, good coffee & friendly service! Excited to come back!
Cute cafe! Was pretty busy in a Sunday morning, lots of young families with their children and dogs! Looks tiny at first but there is a lot of seating in the back area. Staff was friendly. My food came out about 5 mins before My coffee. I ordered the iced latte with maple cold foam + eggs and avocado with comes with cottage cheese. The food was very fresh and the way they cooked the eggs were perfection. Coffee was good but not anything out of this world. Maple cold foam did add a nice touch or the latte would be pretty bland. Not enough ice, it melted pretty quick. Overall a good experience and would return.
This has become my everyday coffee spot to get some work done with my dog. Coffee is good, the Marlowe is the marquee coffee of the establishment and for good reasons. Just be aware it's a cortado, not much liquid in there but great flavors. I also had their Tuna Melt and their baguette Soppresseta sandwich. Both very tasty. Only downside of the place which would get them 5 stars is the outdoor patio cleanliness. The bins are by the seats which attracts a lot of flies, especially when hot. The floor is also kind of dirty with a lot of pastries crumbs. Staff very nice and clearly with a good recipe for success.
Loose Cannon is a jam. Old school tunes and a great coffee menu featuring their signature Marlowe - an iced cottage with a maple cold foam. I paired it with a yogurt bowl that I found oddly runny and sour, but the toppings are super fresh and full of flavor (the kumquat marmalade is a bit hit). They both both indoor and outdoor seating. Great addition to North Glendale off Verdugo.
Awesome neighborhood spot ! Perfect addition to the Verdugo Woodlands ! I've been here a handful of times and it's always a great experience! On this extremely hot So Cal day I stopped by for an iced cappuccino with a vanilla cold foam topper " pick me up" ;) It was one of the best iced cappuccinos I've ever had!! Perfect for the never ending heat wave we've been experiencing! Here's to Loose Cannon ~. Cheers. I'll be seeing you soon
Decided to stop by on a Saturday morning to check out this relatively new coffee shop in our neighborhood. It was incredibly busy, with barely any spots to sit on the indoor barstools, outdoor patio, or covered side room. They offered a variety of coffee and tea drinks, and even sold wine by the bottle. They also had lots of food options as well. The prices were a bit steep. The service was incredibly slow - they only had one espresso machine, causing the orders to back up quite a bit. Additionally, the system for calling beverages out didn't seem to work, as people would be taking beverages that didn't belong to them and they kept having to remake drinks for a number of customers, including myself. For what my opinion is worth, they should keep the receipts under each respective beverage, rather than immediately sticking them on the "completed" spike when finished making them. We ordered an avocado toast with the side of egg, and a breakfast sandwich. Also ordered a vanilla latte and the Marlow beverage. I didn't manage to get any photos of those, as it took quite some time to come out and we were we too hungry to wait for photos. Although it's conveniently located in the neighborhood, probably won't come back unless I've got a large large chunk of time to spare.
There was a long line when we went at around 10 AM. The store is cute and has a nice vibe, but it was super crowded so we couldn't really find seats. They have an area outside and an area inside to sit, but everything was filled - the hype was real! We parked on a street and walked over, parking was relatively easy. We ordered the matcha latte and a Marlowe for our drinks. We also got an apple danish, pistachio croissant and a chocolate croissant for pastries. The matcha latte was not great, a bit grainy and with nothing special. It tasted very watered down, and not much sweetness - slightly bitter. Definitely not worth the price tag. The marlowe is a small concentrated shot (?) of coffee with maple cream on top. More of an acquired taste in my opinion, as you have to bear the bitterness of the coffee underneath with the sweetness of the cream. The cream is pretty tasty, but definitely for more mature coffee enjoyers. The pastries were all relatively good - the pistachio one was my favorite. When we got there at 10 AM, they were almost sold out of all pastries though so just keep that in mind! Overall, an okay experience. The vibes and hype is definitely present but the drinks are not my favorite and the pastries were average as well.
I have a feeling this coffee shop will be here forever. It is exactly what this area was missing and exactly what was needed. Food and drinks: This place made me fall in love with Cortado's. Make sure to get there, Marlowe. Their food was also delicious, from the tuna melt to the BLT (although on the much heavier side). Tips and tricks: Ample seating, and although the parking lot is small, you can easily find parking in the surrounding area. Last but not least, they have a liquor license, which is awesome cause you could come here for really anything at that point!

Plus point for having sizable outdoor patio and dedicated parking space. Long line reaching the entrance on Saturday afternoon with almost full house but the turnaround was pretty speedy so it wasn't hard to get seats. They did serve some sandwiches for nibbles and I saw they used Jyan Isaac bread! I only went for their drinks and despite knowing their house signature was the Marlowe, I was trying to be more adventurous going for the cold brew with the iconic maple cream top. The coffee nailed the expectation with bold flavor and smooth after taste. They seemed to use Stumptown beans if I got it correctly. The cream top was nicely not overly heavy despite I wished bit stronger maple flavor.
Came here to do some journaling/reading after seeing it gassed on instagram. Its definitely in a super cute spot on the outskirts of Glendale but not much parking to offer, you'll have to park on the street unless you are lucky and get one of the five parking spots on the premises. This inside is for sure instagram-worthy, super cute and photogenic with plenty of seating if you are coming in a big group. They have an outdoor area so dogs are allowed and have more seating the farther you go into the cafe with AC and WiFi. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered their Matcha Marlow and Tuna Melt Sandwich, both which were good, but I'll have to say the food was a bit overpriced. I was prepared since this is a pretty trendy spot in Glendale, but I don't think I would come here for a meal if I didn't want to splurge. Their Matcha was super green and silky smooth, a perfect sip while catching up on some reading and planning. Come here for a brunch solo date or with some friends to catch up! read more

My colleagues and I have made Loose Cannon a go-to spot for our afternoon coffee runs in our Glendale rotation. During these hot SoCal summer days, their Marlowe Iced Cortado hits the spot! You really notice the thoughtful design and atmosphere the moment you walk in. The outdoor patio creates a nice gathering space and when it's too hot or during inclement weather, they have an indoor seating area adjacent to the patio. The staff and owners are genuinely wonderful, kind, and incredibly welcoming. You feel it the moment you walk in. I haven't ventured into their food menu yet, but I've heard excellent things from friends who have. It's definitely next on my list. If you're in the area looking for quality coffee and genuine hospitality, Loose Cannon absolutely deserves your visit! read more

A perfect coffee place. I could sit here all day. Simple food menu, artisan coffee menu (the cappuccino was perfect) and a back area with ample seating and plug-in spots for work and study. Everything they do, they do well :) read more

Loose Cannon is just the coffee shop this neighborhood needed! The vibes here are beautiful, I love the nostalgic feel of the wood and tiles. They have lots of different places to sit like the bar that looks out to the street, a large, peaceful patio outside, and a back area that'll be open to the public soon! (A little birdie told me they'll open the place up for a nice dinner vibe, wine tasting, and event rentals soon too) They offer delicious coffee, pastries, and breakfast/lunch options! We got an iced brown sugar latte, the marlowe (an iced cortado with maple cream), and a hot mocha. They were all delicious and not too sweet which I appreciated so much. The maple cream was soooo good, it had a hint of salt too which I loved. They were still working on formulating a mocha recipe, and we really liked the one they made! Free parking in the small lot out front and lots of street parking around. All the workers here were so nice and excited to meet all the new customers. This place has been on my list to try since they opened a few months ago. Finally I got a chance to stop by with my son Friday morning around 10:30. It was busy !!!! Probably 8 people in line to order, the outdoor patio was full of people enjoying their food and drinks. Most of their bars good such as croissants and cookies were sold out but we got to try a turkey cheese croissant and a cinnamon roll. Both so fresh and delicious. My son and I ordered the cold brew with the maple cold foam. Delicious!!!! We enjoyed every sip. But the time our drinks were ready we found a table outside so that worked out perfectly. Customer service was friendly and helpful. We had a great experience here. Next time I'll try their food items and other drinks they offer. By the way they serve wine as well. Overall a very cozy but also lively ambiance. read more
Nice little coffee shop in the northern part of Glendale near Glendale community college. The parking lot was a little tight but we were able to find a spot. We came in the afternoon so a lot of their food was gone but we came for coffee. I got their Marlowe which was an iced cortado with maple cream. It was good drink and tasted balanced. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back to try other options on the menu. read more

Second time coming here and we met with iced latte this time. Great drink and I discovered they have a backroom with air conditioning for getting some work done on laptop. Free WiFi available and not too crowded on a Friday afternoon. Sonos speaker plays lofi music at a low level so nice for background. read more

Newly opened cafe in Glendale, a much needed addition to the area for a quick coffee run. The space features a roomy outdoor patio with plenty of seating, including shaded spots. They currently offer drinks in to-go cups but plan to introduce ceramic mugs soon for those who want to sit and stay awhile. The cafe was buzzing with customers, which is always a great sign. There are only a few parking spots directly in front, but street parking is plentiful nearby. read more

Cute spot but was absolutely bummed by the worst customer service. You would think I was walking into a snobby west side coffee shop but nope .. just humble old Glendale. I walk in and the guy at the counter sees me and my husband. Doesn't greet us... that's fine. I walk up to the counter and say hi.. he does not say hi and turns his head.. I was so confused. Said hi again and then he looks at me. Doesn't smile , doesn't say hi... so whatever I just order. But I could not believe how horrendous their customer service was. No one was smiling. **overall my suggestion is don't come here. Not worth it. There's coffee like this all over Los Angeles but with better customer service. Nothing special and would never recommend for my friends and family or strangers to come here. Mind you I grew up in this area and was very excoted about it. read more

Walked into this place when I saw Chris Pine in there after I got some Swedish pizza. Didn't talk to him but thought it was cool that he was in there. He seemed to know the owner and it was their first day. Extremely friendly personnel and really tasty coffee. Cool vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. They seemed to be doing well and with such cool personnel and delicious coffee they will hopefully be there for a long time. Will definitely come back when I am in Glendale next time!! read more

Sooo....ill tell u the good first. Great location. There was no decent coffee shop in the area. Great service. Always friendly. Great outdoor patio with ample seating. Great pastries. It seems to be curated from different bakeries in los angeles. Cons: Their little parking lot sucks. Especially bc they purposely block the exit to the residential st so you have to back out your car onto verdugo road. If ur a local here, u know its a dangerous and scary thing bc the drivers here are craaaazy. And....the most important! Their lattes are pretty bad. Only one barista knows how to make a beautiful creamy latte. Everyone else are newbies and inexperienced. The last time the shot they pulled was so sour. Theyve got this beautiful red hot La Marzocco coffee machine and these people are pulling crappy espresso shots...an absolute travesty and painful to experience. And they gave me dairy instead of oat milk...twice. I see many boomers getting regular filtered coffee. If Folgers is ur thing this coffee shop is great. Ouch, sorry! Work on the barista skills and u'll have the local millenials and gen z that waste half their paycheck away on lattes, matcha, and avocado toast coming in everyday. Until then, au revoir. read more

I actually really like the retro interior, availability of seating (outdoor seating and another indoor overflow area), as well as the monkey logo. So they get all the vibes points. But I was rather disappointed with my order. I saw that they served Rocky's matcha (which is actually a decent matcha brand) and I noticed a little sticker on the menu that read "Banana Bread Matcha." Sounds good. I place my order and the cashier mentions the matcha comes unsweetened and if I'd like to add sweetener. Sure. Additional charge for vanilla but that's not unusual. My order came out to $9.30 ($8.30 + $1 tip). So I wait. My name is called. To my surprise the matcha came in a water cup-sized cup (6 oz? 4 oz?). My gripe is that for such a small cup I think some kind of disclosure would have been appropriate (either on the menu board or as I was ordering). It's not like these mini sizes are standard coffee shop cups (like 8, 12, 16 oz.) so as to put the average customer on notice. Idk a "hey just a heads up it comes in a __ oz. cup is that okay?" would have been appreciated. I will say the banana cold foam topping was quite good. However, they forgot to add the vanilla I paid extra for because the matcha was still unsweetened. Overall, $9 for a tiny, alright matcha is just not worth the squeeze. read more

This spot is worth stopping by. After seeing it get mobbed over the weekend, I tried it early on a weekday morning, and the service was prompt and personal. Austin, the barista man, seemed genuine and intentional. When I ordered food and said I had a coffee at home, he offered a "sample" of the drip coffee, which ended up being 4 or 5 ounces--a nice gesture indeed (instead of trying to up-sell me on my first visit). The breakfast sandwich looked small but was heartier than expected! Four strips of bacon (at least) and a massive egg patty with cheese. It was well seasoned (by the end I'd conclude over-peppered, just personally speaking) and could've used some arugula or something to lighten it up. The outdoor seating was great, and they even have an indoor nook around the corner. On a clear SoCal day, perfect for eating outside and sipping a nice bev. I'll definitely be back. read more

tucked away in an unexpected area this place appears cozy and small but has SO much comfy seating, an amazing selection of drinks and the maple cold foam was so delicious!!! the staff was so friendly and kind when we were ordering and the bread for the avo toast was so thick and crunchy and the soft scramble yumyum!!
