Been to this cafe a couple times. Definitely recommend getting the BLTA wrap if you don't want something too heavy. The Mexican hot chocolate is a must, so delicious! Service is great, it's a pretty popular cafe so you won't really see it empty, definitely a place to try! They have lots of food options as well!

The Black Cow is our go-to restaurant always, after our dental appointments. Yummy comfort food and great customer service, perfect way to start our day. Looking forward to our next dental appointment and breakfast here!

First time here. Excited to try this cafe. I've heard nothing but amazing things.

It was a very long wait.....but you know what?? It was totally worth it. Great food and a fun ambiance. The staff is fantastic. They know how to keep things moving so seamlessly. A wide variety of savory options to choose from.

What a cute little breakfast/brunch place here in the heart of Montrose! Not only was the decor super charming and festive starting Thanksgiving weekend, but the food was equally delicious. Upon arriving on a somewhat quiet, Farmer's Market weekend morning just before the lunch rush, we were able to snag ourselves a table with only about a 5-minute wait. Not bad whatsoever. We ordered the Kid's Cheeseburger with fries. It was filling for my child's voracious, post-tryptophan appetite. For me, the Chile Stuffed Skillet was phenomenal -- very rich and cheesy. I particularly enjoyed burning my lips off by the end of the meal when I bit into some Pasilla pepper seeds. Nothing a little Cholula couldn't fix to turn up the burn a few more notches. (Yes, my tongue is a masochist when it comes to heat.) The freshly baked cheddar jalapeño biscuits were the stars of the meal imo - soft, buttery, and just poppin' with cheddary-jalapeño-y goodness. We left the sweet Full Banana Bread French Toast with its crispy corn flake crunch for dessert. A few bites sopped in syrup made it a perfect way to end our sleep Sunday brunch. Will be back soon....

My husband and I came here for breakfast, and we were impressed! My hubby is a breakfast snob, and he ranked this place as one of the best breakfasts he's ever had! We ordered random skillets (ratatouille and country skillet) and they were not only unique, but tasted amazing. Our waitress, Slava, also went above and beyond with her quick service! We also ordered zucchini bread to go (there's a whole to-go section in the back) to share with family. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant and am kicking myself for not going there all the years that I lived in Montrose!

I love spending time in the Montrose area, and it just wouldn't be the same without a stop at Black Cow for breakfast. I've been coming here for well over 10 years, and I can't believe I never left a review sooner. The service is always consistently great, and while the food can vary a bit from visit to visit, their homemade jam (at least it used to be homemade!) has always been unforgettable. There's always a wait--truly always--but it usually moves quickly. I've never seen this place anything but packed. This time, I ordered the corned beef hash and it was delicious. We also tried the skirt steak salad, which was also really good. Everyone at the table was happy with their food. Of course we'll keep coming back--this place is part of the Montrose experience. Must try if you're around! Especially to check out their ceiling fan, I love the decorations!

Highly improved from last time we've been here. Staff are efficient and kind, great service, suggest coming early if you can since it does get crowded. We are early birds so that's never a problem. Coffee is superb and fresh. Breads and muffins are baked fresh daily.

old black lettuce, gristly chicken, bottom of lettuce stalks.

Mixed experience -- great service, disappointing food I've been to Black Cow three different times hoping my experience would improve, but unfortunately the food has consistently been underwhelming. First, the positive: the service is excellent. Victor in particular is fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and really goes above and beyond. Every server I've interacted with has been great, and that's honestly the main reason I kept giving the restaurant another chance. They also bring out a side of fresh zucchini bread, which is actually pretty good and a nice touch. Unfortunately, the food just hasn't matched the level of the service. One visit I ordered an omelet that came with ketchup already on it, and it was absolutely drenched. It was so overpowering that it made the dish hard to eat. I wish they had left that up to the customer. Another time I ordered the wonton chicken salad, and it was really disappointing. The romaine lettuce looked old and was starting to turn black, and the salad had large romaine bottom stalks mixed in that made it feel like it wasn't prepped carefully. The chicken also had hard, gristly bits, which made the texture pretty unpleasant as I had to keep spitting it out. It's frustrating because the staff is wonderful and the place has potential, but the food quality just hasn't been there for me. If I were rating service alone it would be 5 stars, but based on the food I'd have to give it 1 star.

Poor Service, Low Quality Food, Dirty Restaurant, Small Portions... The quality of this restaurant has gone down over the years.

I had the day off and decided to meet a friend for breakfast. She selected this place for our outing. I got there right as they were opening at 8 am. The staff was so kind seating me while I waited for my friend. I wasn't too hungry and opted for the oatmeal. It was the perfect portion with the addition of the side fruit. The parking on the street is pretty tricky in that location but thankfully that early in the day there aren't too many people out. Overall, it was a great time and I can't wait to come back to try other items.

Such a welcoming and yummy place! I came here for Sunday breakfast and it was starting to fill up. I realized enjoyed the Cow's benedict and the biscuits gravy as both had great flavor. The stuff was super friendly and bonus is that there's a farmer's market on Sundays too!

    All day breakfast?

Unfortunately no. The first time I went I went at dinner time assuming they did and was bummed to hear no. They stop breakfast at 2pm.

Do they still do catering, and, if so, how can I see their catering menu? I have tried to contact the catering email on their website, but I get a mailer daemon response that the email no longer exists.

They aren't doing catering at this time. Just take out and indoor dining with a reduced menu. A new, more complete menu is coming in early June.

    Do they sell gift certificates?

Yes, this yummy place sells gift certificates and the minimum is, $10.00.

    Hi, is outdoor seating available?

    Yes.

Does anyone know if the 3 bean chilli is vegan?

    It is not.

Everytime we visit (most recently for Mother's Day but we've been 6 times in just 6 months) we discover something new we love. You MUST order either or both of the Pancakes and French Toast. Mostly because of the butterscotch sauce they. One with in the side, the pancakes are really just vehicles for the decadent sauce so good even our friends who don't like sweets insist it's the best. Our preference leans pancakes (a surprise as we also are obsessed with the French toast) because the pancakes are perfect crisp on outside and fluffy inside. The American Breakfast is a perfect compliment to the sweet with everything from the toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage each tasting like miraculous perfection. Other favorites include the Little Corner Cassoulet, and Omelette, but we'd be hard pressed not to admit you can't go wrong with anything to eat or drink here. No doubt our go to place to bring everyone we know who hasn't tried it yet, we'll be back many more times, especially hoping to try their lunch/dinner options soon because if they're even half as delicious as breakfast, we may just have to eat every meal here.
