To the Tickle Tree owner/manager: Please do not hire people who do not wanna work. They ruin the vibe and experience, even one as brief as mine has been today. I stopped for a cup of coffee and pancakes, while waiting on my car, after receiving somewhat cool cup of coffee from the leftovers of the pot. I politely went up to the counter asking for hot cup of coffee, in response, I received a displeased expression from a girl in a glasseses over-the-counter saying that it's gonna take five minutes which I gladly agreed to wait for. So in five minutes with the same displeased look she left a cup of coffee on my table, turned around and left, after which a tall slender, somewhat pale young gentleman came out with something that can only be described as a clinically depressed look, leaving pancakes with absolutely no eye contact or a single word out of his mouth, even after I said thank you. I was not expecting a parade, balloons and confetti, but this is just so depressing to look at and not the kind of experience, you wanna have at a place in your neighborhood where you come to eat. read more

Then are given a number and you have the option of dining indoors or outdoors. I ate outdoors under the shade which was much needed. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The fries had garlic in them which I loved. My sandwich was also tasty, the chicken tasted a little charred but not dry. My only complaint is I asked for my sandwich to be made with no mushrooms and there were still mushrooms in my burger underneath the melted cheese making it kind of hard to get it out. We got the Breakfast Sandwich and Jim's Breakfast (sub bacon for chicken sausage). The food was really yummy, the sandwich was super flavorful from the aioli and the bread was nice and toasted. The pancakes were also delicious and the breakfast plate had generous portions. We went on the weekend around 12 and it was not very crowded so there was a lot of seating outside available. Also our food came out fairly quickly. Overall, everything was great and we would like to go back again. read more

A good friend brought us here because he loves it! We agree it's great, so we came back a second time! I got the ice dirty chai both times. It's the best dirty chai I've ever had. Definitely loved the portobello mushroom sandwich--the flavor was right on point, with tomato and pesto layered inside alongside the perfectly cooked portobello. The fresh sweet potatoes on the side were a great touch. The Tickle Tree omelette felt like a classic breakfast option--not too surprising--but it delivered where it counts, with fresh ingredients and solid flavor. They also offer a variety of lemonades. Decided to come here after an appt in the area and I'm glad we did! You order at the counter then find a table. They options inside, deck and outside, so plenty of seating. The service was great, everyone was a delight. Food came out QUICK. Which was good because we were hungryyyyyy. I got the tuna melt which was delicious but the sweet potato fries and that garlic sauce FIREEEEE. Yoghurt was standard definitely some honey would've elevated it. Jen's breakfast was decent portion. I have always loved the quality of food here. However, over the past year, the portion size on several items has decreased while the prices on all items have increased significantly. Also, I am very disappointed about the evening menu which is significantly different than the daytime menu. This place used to be one my top 3 favorite places in La Crescenta to recommend to people. You order at the register, get a number, choose your seat, and they bring the food to your table when it's ready--pretty straightforward. There's indoor seating, two covered patios, and a few small outdoor tables along the side of the building. Parking is street-only, but it's usually easy to find a spot nearby and take a short walk. There's a self-serve bar for condiments and water. I had the chai tea latte, which was excellent. They offer milk alternatives if you don't do regular dairy. A nice touch I appreciated--if you're dining indoors and order coffee, they'll serve it in a real mug. For food, I went with the Jeni's Breakfast, and it was so good--very filling, like something you'd cook at home with love. The chicken sausage was especially tasty. Don't skip the sweet potato fries--they're crispy, well-seasoned, and the garlic aioli is so good, you can practically smell it coming from the kitchen. Needed a halfway spot to meet a friend who lives in the valley and this was a great option. There's a small parking lot or you can just park on foothill. Lots of choose your own seating - two patio areas and indoor as well. It's order at the counter style so easy if you are trying to split your bill. My friend was running late and I was hungry so I ended up ordering an eggplant sandwich with fries and a vanilla latte. The bread said sourdough but had a packaged look and feel, not a rustic style bread. The roasted bell pepper was prominent and with the plentiful amount of garlic fries. Many reviews talk about the pricing here and yes, it is quite expensive. The sandwich is $15.75 and with fries it's an additional $3. Fortunately the portion was fairly generous so my friend and I ended up splitting everything and she ordered her own latte. We were able to hang out for almost 2 hours, so it's a chill spot to hang and eat and not be rushed. We enjoyed our lunch and the staff were friendly, nice view of the mountains as well! read more

Came here for a solo breakfast. The place was empty, only 1 other party outside and a couple that came in after me. I've been here in the past and have had better experiences with their lunch. I ordered "Jane's breakfast." Although the food came quickly, the eggs were warm but the potatoes were cold. The boy who brought my plate let me know my toast would be out shortly. Some time goes by (I'd guess about 10 minutes). My toast comes out, cold :/ The eggs, potatoes and toast had good flavor and would have probably been very enjoyable if they were even a tad warm. The sausage was inedible, but im not typically a chicken sausage fan anyway (it was half a large sausage, not breakfast sausage). The part that really impacted the visit was the fact that the staff (about 4 or 5) were standing behind the counter chatting and they all had their phones out. As I was waiting for my toast, watching them slide their phones in and out of their back pockets without washing their hands and handle all the plates and drinks was just really nauseating. Not the friendliest bunch, but that would not matter too much if they were on top of their tasks and not handling their phones so much as they're actively preparing drinks and warming food. The little fruit side was fresh and tasty :) May come back in the future for lunch but only if I'm with someone that likes this place. There are better local options such as Curb Grill, Black Cow cafe, Gio's. If you're heading west then I'd even suggest Arnie's or Backdoor Bakery. read more

So much flavor and so much going on. The only thing it needed was a good homemade salsa, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. The mint lemonade is so refreshing! Matcha was yummy! My sister got a salad and it was hardy and very yummy. We shared sweet potato fries, and they were the best I've had. Unfortunately, our experience here was very disappointing. My burger arrived undercooked, pink in the middle, and the meat had an odd taste with small bone-like pieces mixed in. It's concerning when a restaurant can't execute something as basic as a burger properly. My girlfriend's chicken sandwich was also extremely dry and lacked any real flavor. Overall, the food quality left a lot to be desired. Neither of us finished our food The service didn't improve the experience either. The staff, mostly teens, seemed disengaged and more focused on their phones than helping customers. They weren't attentive and didn't provide much assistance when we had questions about the menu. This was our first visit, and unfortunately, it will also be our last. We hope management takes these concerns seriously. read more

We had French toast with bananas and I think peach syrup, a stack of pancakes all fluffy and delicious but not overly sweet, and the best burger I have ever had in my life! I got the burger with no blue cheese add avocado so I modified it to my liking but man oh man was it scrumptious. My friend got a mango smoothie which was delicious too and I want to go back. We happened to find this place because we were going to Descanso Gardens and we needed food prior to that so we checked good old Yelp and came across this gem! It's 5 minutes away and it was soooo delicious. My only CON was the cashier guy. He was sippin coffee in front of us but not welcoming us or suggesting or asking anything beyond what can I get you and is that it? The teas were made, so I would pass on those. The staff has a little bit of attitude but the other patrons are nice and friendly.
