Turon Banana iced
Bianka G.

Located in a small shopping center with some parking but extra parking next door in the Vons lot. Great variety of coffee and matcha drinks. With a specialty Asian inspired drink section and seasonal specials. They all looked really tasty and creative. Went with the following... Specialty Asian Inspired coffee drinks: Vietnamese House Coffee- Coffee, condensed milk, salted foam, and cacao powder Turon Banana- Espresso, milk, banana, banana foam, and banana chips The Vietnamese hose coffee was strong and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of condensed milk , now add a salty component with the foam and... perfect! I love all things banana and the TURON LATTE WAS SO YUMMY. Great espresso and lots of banana. Loved it! I don't think you can go wrong with any beverage here.

Saw people hyping up this place on Tik Tok and let's just say... don't trust everything you see on the internet! Came in on a Saturday afternoon & there was no wait! My boyfriend and I ordered the Matcha Einspanner (his with oat milk and mine with regular milk). I was profoundly disappointed... the matcha was lacking in flavor and grainy. All I really tasted was milk.... the cream top had a good amount of sweetness to it, but it's not enough to save the rest of the drink. I wish the matcha was stronger and was whisked better. Surprisingly, my boyfriend's oat milk matcha einspanner tasted stronger in matcha notes than mine, but still wasn't impressive... inconsistency in drinks is an issue that needs to be solved. Ample parking available as there is a free lot within the plaza. Interior is clean with limited tables and very small space.

Hours say they're open at 7 am, but it was completely closed at 7:30 am...so disappointing

We were excited to try this place. We looked the evening before coming for the hours. Yelp and Google state that they open at 7 am, but DoorDash said they take orders at 8 am. We figured Google is usually accurate, and 2 out of 3 places saying 7 am would probably mean they open then. We rationalized perhaps they didn't want DoorDash overwhelming them with orders in the morning so they opened orders at 8 am, who knows. We got to Amai at nearly 7:30 am and it was dark, closed. So disappointing, please update your hours, so we don't have to waste a trip. Parking lot was small; we only found parking probably because Amai isn't open and it's early. Hopefully I can update this review once I actually try their drinks, as I was really looking forward to the Turon banana coffee.

Wow!! New favorite spot or what?! I wish the parking lot was better... it's one of those one way in, one way out situations and extremely small. We parked around the back just on the street and walked over. There is a Vons lot next door but not sure if there is any security monitoring, so park at your own risk! The line was basically out the door. The inside is very small, few tables and seating inside and hard to wait inside for your drink. Best to wait outside since they keep the door open and will call your name anyway. Thought it was just all Japanese inspired but upon looking at the menu, there are lots of Filipino inspired drinks like Ube, Turon, and Pandan flavors!! Such a nice treat and love seeing more Turon and Pandan on the menu since it's almost always just Ube. Ordered an Amai Signature which was a bit on the sweeter side but we also got the Turon Banana Latte with banana foam and it was fantastic. Perfect sweetness and tastes like the Filipino dessert. Staff were a bit quiet and not super chatty but sometimes I like that, just get my drink and go lol. Overall a fantastic cafe and looking forward to coming back. Worth struggling to park for lol! Mango sticky rice drinks are all the craze on social media right now, so I had to try it myself! On a weekday afternoon, I was greeted and got my order taken promptly. The cafe is very sleek and modern, with a cute vinyl player and plants for decor and a single table for seating. I absolutely love the menu items- you can tell this is a Filipino cafe as not only does it have ube items (ube cruffin - how cute!), it also has pandan and turon- flavored drinks?! The Filipino yam Ube is getting all the craze right now, but pandan and turon- is rare to see, so I was very happy to see this on the menu! I got the mango sticky matcha and the ube cruffin - both were so delicious! The mango sticky matcha really did taste like mango sticky rice (minus the rice part - I'll hopefully find a cafe that includes sticky rice in the drink one day), and the cruffin was so flaky and had a luxurious ube cream inside. I will definitely come back to try the pandan matcha and the turon banana coffee!

The vibe and aesthetic of this place ! It's a small space, but it's such a nice spot to chill and sit for a bit. Service was also fast and staff were friendly! I've been here twice and tried a few different drinks: Turon Latte - The turon flavor was a little muted, but I actually appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. Mango Sticky Matcha - Loved this one! Amai Signature - My favorite so far. It was perfectly made and, again, not too sweet -- which I really appreciate. Blueberry Matcha- My fiancé loved this drink! The blueberry mixed perfectly with the matcha. Highly recommend! It's one of the few spots in the area that consistently serves good drinks.

Filipino owned Asian Inspired Cafe! I love how this place offer some Filipino drinks like panda matcha, turon banana and Ube coffee There's not much Asian cafes in Glendale so I'm happy there's one open up! The service is amazing everyone's friendly. The drinks come out really fast . Ambiance is cozy, some seating inside and outside. This place can get packed. Already recommended this place to my friends. I'm obsessed with Pandan matcha and Turon banana. I will comeback to try their other lattes.

Tucked into Glendale, Amai is a cozy little gem that delivers big on flavor. I ordered the House Matcha Latte with oat milk (hot) -- smooth, balanced, and clearly crafted with care. Small space, warm ambience, and quick, efficient service. A solid go-to when you're craving quality coffee, matcha, or tea without the fuss. Quietly elite.

Turon Latte & Banana Matcha

I tried this spot because I kept seeing it all over my social media, and a couple of homies I know have some ownership in it. I figured I'd come through and show some love. To be honest, I had high expectations. I ordered the Banana Matcha Latte and the Turon Latte. Both drinks were good, but not great. I had read in other reviews that the drinks tend to be a little too milky. I was hoping I wouldn't agree, but unfortunately I do. I stirred them, which helped a bit, but it didn't completely fix it. The Banana Matcha Latte looked amazing -- visually a 10 out of 10. Taste-wise, I'd give it about a 6.5 out of 10. The Turon Latte is where I felt the most let down. It seemed rushed and not fully thought through. It's missing something. The banana flavor could've been stronger, and the banana chips felt more like a shortcut than a real execution of the concept. As a Filipino, that one was disappointing. If you've ever had real turon, you know it has that smokiness and that brown sugar caramelized finish. This drink was missing that depth. It also could've used a stronger coffee presence overall. I think this one needs to go back to the drawing board. One thing that was really good, though, was the ube cinnamon bun. That was genuinely delicious. I believe they only serve it on Sundays. Now onto the service. I'm not trying to be negative -- just honest. The service could be friendlier. When you walk up to the bar and are face-to-face with the staff, you'd expect at least a warm greeting. Instead, it felt a little standoffish. Not rude -- just not inviting. For a newer business in this location, you'd think there would be a little more energy and hospitality. On top of that, details matter. Seeing dirt under a barista's fingernails or chipped nail polish can be off-putting as a customer. Presentation goes both ways -- not just for the drinks. As for the ambiance, it's a cool space. Small, simple, clean, and aesthetically on point. Very minimal and definitely Instagram-worthy, drinks included. I don't remember if there was music playing, but the vibe overall visually is there. Would I recommend it? Probably not strongly -- but I'd still say try it for yourself. It makes for a solid Instagram post. Would I come back? Maybe if I'm in the area. I'd probably try something different next time.

I've always wanted to try Amai, but the other locations are pretty far so I never got the chance, so i'm glad they opened a location in Glendale! Went in and the inside was really cute! I ordered their seasonal matcha pandan, half sweet, and it was really good. A lot of places make pandan drinks overly sweet, but this one was perfectly balanced while still letting both the pandan and matcha flavors come through. The cashier, Miller, was also really friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time, he gave great recommendations and honest opinions on the drinks, which I really appreciated. Seating inside is limited however, so it's more of an order to go kind of cafe, but they do have their own parking lot, which is a plus. I'd definitely come back to try their other signature drinks!

Ellen N.

One of my favorite coffee shops near me. None of the drinks are overly sweet, which I really appreciate. I also love the variety of drinks--so far I've tried the Manila Vanilla and the Honeycomb, and both were great. The ube cinnamon roll with a side of ube sauce is definitely worth trying. The first few bites were delicious, though it did get a bit sweeter as I kept eating. Since they're fairly new, there isn't a wide selection of pastries or food yet. It's also a small spot with very limited seating. Overall, I'm excited to come back and try more items off the menu.

Maruko X.

Ambiance: it's a tiny coffee and tea shop located in a shared plaza, limited seats inside, essentially a togo place, parking is challenging in the small lot Service: no waiting, and they served the drink fast Drink: limited menu items, and they ran out a few items including special drinks early in the morning MANILA VANILLA - *** ESPRESSO + MILK + ORGANIC ROASTED VANILLA, choice of hot drink, overly sweet STRAWBERRY MATCHA - * CEREMONIAL MATCHA + STRAWBERRY PUREE, iced only, plain taste with low quality matcha Price: lack-lasting quality and not worth the cost, expect around $7 per drink

The matcha lavender latte is the star of the show. It's beautifully balanced: earthy matcha, a gentle floral note from the lavender, and just enough sweetness to tie everything together. The small ugly one that comes in a mini loaf, it was rich, moist, and deeply chocolatey without being overly heavy. PREVIOUS REVIEW2 It's been a while since I've been here the previous time. In addition to being very nice last time (except for the logistics of ordering and the non-functioning power outlets), the please remains a peaceful oasis and the ordering process has improved since. Most importantly, the coffee remains delicious, and the tomato basil tart was a wonderful quick lunch followed by a multi berry muffin. PREVIOUS REVIEW1 Cute little place in Atwater Village!! So cute with peaceful, relaxing and quiet atmosphere (inside/outside) that I thought I could get some work done (free WiFi). The concept is a bit confusing: There are a bunch of "menu items" such as sandwiches and wraps etc, but while they are listed on a big board behind the counter, you have to actually grab them premade/prepacked from a fridge ... The Vegan Smokey BBQ Wrap was very good except for the short and transient moment when I opened the container, but after all it was actually fresh, juicy and had a great flavor mix. The Mex Mocha with Almond milk (alternatives are available) was delicious, and I paired it with a GF Orange Chia Bread Loaf. PS: I'm neither Vegan nor GF fanatic... What really defied the purpose of coming here was the non-working power outlets, and the manager not taking care of it. My laptop unfortunately does not have a TESLA battery and hence I did not last for 2 hours... PS: I neither have a TESLA nor a Prius either ... Tip: Parking on this side of the street can be tough, look on the other side ...

Maru Coffee is one of the new businesses, though I guess it's been open for ten years now--it moved in like a month after we moved out. One more sign that we're getting old. But we are still hip enough to join the crowd at Maru after a morning hike in Griffith Park. The place was busy when we arrived on a Friday around noon, lots of people lining up to get their artisanal coffees. The wait was short, though, and service was friendly and quick. The shop was attractive, soothingly minimal in a KonMari kind of way. We found a place to sit while we waited for our drinks. I'm not a habitual coffee drinker, so while Matt B. got his coffee, I enjoyed an iced matcha latte. This was delicious, creamy and flavorful and also bright green. If you want a trendy coffee shop in Los Feliz, Maru Coffee seems like the one to beat. It's a fun scene that makes me miss my old neighborhood and maybe, just a little, my youth.

Small working space, as it seems like a spot to drop by and chill during your walk or run around the reservoir and neighboring area. This shop really caters to the Silver Lake community. It's home to the Silver Lake Track Club, and I loved seeing all their merch for the community posted up! We tried their peanut butter latte and spicy honey latte, and we were... a bit underwhelmed. Lattes weren't anything that wow'd us, as the peanut butter was a bit thick of a drink and had its own preferred taste, and the spicy honey was good, but the spice took a bit of getting used to (made it difficult to pair eating with a pastry or sandwich)... but they're lattes when you need one! We also tried some of their bites like the ghost bagel and matcha donut (matcha donut was nice, wonder where they source it from!), but again, was not completely wow'd for the price and bite. A rather small bagel sandwich on a dense bagel (I loved the idea of bbq shrooms though!). I can see this place for its convenience and charm for the Silver Lake community, especially if you're doing a run around the neighborhood and want to pick something up.
