Yummy coffee (on the sweeter side) and a really cute atmosphere. The service was quick even in a bit of a morning rush. I wish they had a bigger space inside but it was cute! Will be back.

We have been here more than once now and ordered the Amai Special latte every time. The first time, it was slightly too sweet for me, so I ordered half the brown sugar the second time and that was perfect. I'll be doing that from now on. This shop is small, has a large communal table inside as well as a couple of pairs of chairs outside. If they would put an umbrella out there for the sun/heat, it would be a really nice little corner spot to hang out in this plaza. They always have nice music playing and a clean restroom on hand. They people here really seem to care about their drinks and have been friendly and kind every time we've been here. There is a small parking lot for the entire plaza, which is feast or famine for spots depending on what time of day you're here. We've come when it's super busy and still found a spot quickly. It's a one way loop thru the parking lot and all of the spaces are angled. Lots of great stuff in this plaza, so grab a coffee from Amai and check out the pananderia and other businesses while you're at it.

Delicious drinks! You can see the matcha being made by hand fresh as you wait in line. I loved the hojicha einspanner - the tea was so fragrant. They have unique drinks like the Turo Banana latte that you can't find anywhere else. Their pastries also taste as good as they look. We had the matcha almond croissant which had matcha filling in the middle and it was so good! Service is so friendly and efficient. The space is small inside with just one large table and couple seats on the side, so it can be tight squeeze inside. It's worth a visit though because you can taste the quality.

Was really excited to hear that a cute café like Amai was opening near me. We went on a Thursday afternoon and there was a short line. Their menu is incredibly innovative and has a lot of unique flavors, so it was super hard choosing just one. I wanted to try the mango matcha, too and the banana flavors also sounded good. We ended up ordering the Vietnamese coffee and the double matcha. The Vietnamese coffee was good, strong and not too sweet. However, my double matcha was very milky and tasted watered down. Despite it being the strongest matcha on the menu (supposedly), there was no matcha taste at all and it tasted more like just oat milk. The matcha cream on top was tasty and strong but not enough to balance out the milkiness of the matcha latte underneath. I was pretty disappointed, but hopefully it was just a one off. I hope I can come back and try some of the other flavors, and see if the matcha is redeemed. The space itself is super cute with wooden tables and a record player and plants in the corner. There are also chairs and tables outside, and it's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. A pretty convenient and cozy space - I'd opt for the coffee instead of matcha here or skip the double matcha and try a fruit matcha instead.

Stopped here before heading to the zoo with my daughter and so glad we did! The baristas were so sweet and friendly with my daughter and I! They are so intentional about design and taste! It is a small shop but has a perfect table for getting work done if you come early. Some outdoor seating as well. Excited to try the matcha next time but the barista recommended the turon latte and it was delicious.

Located in a small shopping center with some parking but extra parking next door in the Vons lot. Great variety of coffee and matcha drinks. With a specialty Asian inspired drink section and seasonal specials. They all looked really tasty and creative. Went with the following... Specialty Asian Inspired coffee drinks: Vietnamese House Coffee- Coffee, condensed milk, salted foam, and cacao powder Turon Banana- Espresso, milk, banana, banana foam, and banana chips The Vietnamese hose coffee was strong and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of condensed milk , now add a salty component with the foam and... perfect! I love all things banana and the TURON LATTE WAS SO YUMMY. Great espresso and lots of banana. Loved it! I don't think you can go wrong with any beverage here.

I think at this point I've learned not to go here mid week instead to go after Thursday because they're usually sold out of the Vietnamese coffee. Seriously delicious and always a quick in and out.

Saw people hyping up this place on Tik Tok and let's just say... don't trust everything you see on the internet! Came in on a Saturday afternoon & there was no wait! My boyfriend and I ordered the Matcha Einspanner (his with oat milk and mine with regular milk). I was profoundly disappointed... the matcha was lacking in flavor and grainy. All I really tasted was milk.... the cream top had a good amount of sweetness to it, but it's not enough to save the rest of the drink. I wish the matcha was stronger and was whisked better. Surprisingly, my boyfriend's oat milk matcha einspanner tasted stronger in matcha notes than mine, but still wasn't impressive... inconsistency in drinks is an issue that needs to be solved. Ample parking available as there is a free lot within the plaza. Interior is clean with limited tables and very small space.

Hours say they're open at 7 am, but it was completely closed at 7:30 am...so disappointing
    Cindy M.

We were excited to try this place. We looked the evening before coming for the hours. Yelp and Google state that they open at 7 am, but DoorDash said they take orders at 8 am. We figured Google is usually accurate, and 2 out of 3 places saying 7 am would probably mean they open then. We rationalized perhaps they didn't want DoorDash overwhelming them with orders in the morning so they opened orders at 8 am, who knows. We got to Amai at nearly 7:30 am and it was dark, closed. So disappointing, please update your hours, so we don't have to waste a trip. Parking lot was small; we only found parking probably because Amai isn't open and it's early. Hopefully I can update this review once I actually try their drinks, as I was really looking forward to the Turon banana coffee.

Wow!! New favorite spot or what?! I wish the parking lot was better... it's one of those one way in, one way out situations and extremely small. We parked around the back just on the street and walked over. There is a Vons lot next door but not sure if there is any security monitoring, so park at your own risk! The line was basically out the door. The inside is very small, few tables and seating inside and hard to wait inside for your drink. Best to wait outside since they keep the door open and will call your name anyway. Thought it was just all Japanese inspired but upon looking at the menu, there are lots of Filipino inspired drinks like Ube, Turon, and Pandan flavors!! Such a nice treat and love seeing more Turon and Pandan on the menu since it's almost always just Ube. Ordered an Amai Signature which was a bit on the sweeter side but we also got the Turon Banana Latte with banana foam and it was fantastic. Perfect sweetness and tastes like the Filipino dessert. Staff were a bit quiet and not super chatty but sometimes I like that, just get my drink and go lol. Overall a fantastic cafe and looking forward to coming back. Worth struggling to park for lol! Amai is such a solid spot. I've tried half of the menu at this point and everything is good. If you're a matcha fan, you can never go wrong with their matcha latte--it's perfectly creamy but not too sweet. The service is great even when they're busy, the wait time is never long. The inside has a very chill vibe. The space is small with 1 big table and probably not the best for studying, but it's perfect for a hangout. Plenty of parking! Perfect for a Grab and Go!

Drinks are pretty consistent here, whether it may be a cup of matcha or a latte. The cafe is a bit smaller and it can get packed pretty fast, especially during the morning rush. The only downside is the wait time as there would usually be just one person taking orders and making the drinks during the early morning.

Mango sticky rice drinks are all the craze on social media right now, so I had to try it myself! On a weekday afternoon, I was greeted and got my order taken promptly. The cafe is very sleek and modern, with a cute vinyl player and plants for decor and a single table for seating. I absolutely love the menu items- you can tell this is a Filipino cafe as not only does it have ube items (ube cruffin - how cute!), it also has pandan and turon- flavored drinks?! The Filipino yam Ube is getting all the craze right now, but pandan and turon- is rare to see, so I was very happy to see this on the menu! I got the mango sticky matcha and the ube cruffin - both were so delicious! The mango sticky matcha really did taste like mango sticky rice (minus the rice part - I'll hopefully find a cafe that includes sticky rice in the drink one day), and the cruffin was so flaky and had a luxurious ube cream inside. I will definitely come back to try the pandan matcha and the turon banana coffee!

The matcha lavender latte is the star of the show. It's beautifully balanced: earthy matcha, a gentle floral note from the lavender, and just enough sweetness to tie everything together. It's the kind of drink you think about later in the day and wish you had another. And then there's the chocolate cake . The small ugly one that comes in a mini loaf, it was rich, moist, and deeply chocolatey without being overly heavy. PREVIOUS REVIEW2 It's been a while since I've been here the previous time. In addition to being very nice last time (except for the logistics of ordering and the non-functioning power outlets), the please remains a peaceful oasis and the ordering process has improved since. Most importantly, the coffee remains delicious, and the tomato basil tart was a wonderful quick lunch followed by a multi berry muffin. PREVIOUS REVIEW1 Cute little place in Atwater Village!! So cute with peaceful, relaxing and quiet atmosphere (inside/outside) that I thought I could get some work done (free WiFi). The concept is a bit confusing: There are a bunch of "menu items" such as sandwiches and wraps etc, but while they are listed on a big board behind the counter, you have to actually grab them premade/prepacked from a fridge ... The Vegan Smokey BBQ Wrap was very good except for the short and transient moment when I opened the container, but after all it was actually fresh, juicy and had a great flavor mix. The Mex Mocha with Almond milk (alternatives are available) was delicious, and I paired it with a GF Orange Chia Bread Loaf. PS: I'm neither Vegan nor GF fanatic... What really defied the purpose of coming here was the non-working power outlets, and the manager not taking care of it. My laptop unfortunately does not have a TESLA battery and hence I did not last for 2 hours... PS: I neither have a TESLA nor a Prius either ... Tip: Parking on this side of the street can be tough, look on the other side ...

The attention to detail these coffee shops put into everything is the cherry on top of it all. I'm a simple gal with my iced lattes with whole milk and no sweetener, and this place just knows how to get the ratio right, smooth, balanced, and not overpowering at all. More often than not, the…read morecortado starts out promising, but after about two sips the structure begins to fall apart. The crema dissipates, the microfoam separates, and what started as a balanced cortado ends up drinking almost like an americano with milk. As the drink loses its structure, the flavor changes dramatically as well. The sweetness fades, the espresso becomes less defined, and the body that was present in the first couple of sips quickly disappears. For a while I assumed it was simply inconsistent espresso preparation or milk integration. After several visits, I started paying closer attention to everything--from extraction and temperature to milk texture, and finally the cup itself. I now believe the vessel plays a much bigger role in the overall experience than I originally realized. The ceramic cup Quat uses is visually nice, but its shape reminds me more of a coffee tasting cup than a traditional cortado vessel. Its wide, open profile does a great job showcasing aroma, but for a milk drink like a cortado, I think it makes the drink much less forgiving. A cup with this geometry seems to demand nearly flawless extraction, milk texture, and integration to maintain the dense, cohesive body that defines a great cortado. If any part of the drink is even slightly off, the body appears to break down much more quickly, the crema dissipates, and the flavor profile loses the depth and balance that were present in the first couple of sips. By comparison, I've found that more traditional cortado glasses tend to preserve the drinking experience much better. The narrower, deeper geometry helps maintain the drink's concentration and keeps the espresso and milk feeling integrated throughout the cup. The result is a denser mouthfeel, more consistent texture, and a flavor profile that stays balanced from the first sip to the last. Quat has talented baristas and high standards, which is exactly why I'm writing this. I've been there enough times to know they're capable of making an outstanding cortado. But after more than five visits, consistency has been the biggest issue. Looking back, I don't think the cup is necessarily the only cause of that inconsistency, but I do think its design magnifies even small imperfections that might be far less noticeable in a more traditional cortado glass. It is an elegant piece of ceramic, but for a beverage where body, texture, and integration are everything, I don't think it's the ideal vessel for showcasing a cortado.
