We have been here more than once now and ordered the Amai Special latte every time. The first time, it was slightly too sweet for me, so I ordered half the brown sugar the second time and that was perfect. I'll be doing that from now on. This shop is small, has a large communal table inside as well as a couple of pairs of chairs outside. If they would put an umbrella out there for the sun/heat, it would be a really nice little corner spot to hang out in this plaza. They always have nice music playing and a clean restroom on hand. They people here really seem to care about their drinks and have been friendly and kind every time we've been here. There is a small parking lot for the entire plaza, which is feast or famine for spots depending on what time of day you're here. We've come when it's super busy and still found a spot quickly. It's a one way loop thru the parking lot and all of the spaces are angled. Lots of great stuff in this plaza, so grab a coffee from Amai and check out the pananderia and other businesses while you're at it.
Delicious drinks! You can see the matcha being made by hand fresh as you wait in line. I loved the hojicha einspanner - the tea was so fragrant. They have unique drinks like the Turo Banana latte that you can't find anywhere else. Their pastries also taste as good as they look. We had the matcha almond croissant which had matcha filling in the middle and it was so good! Service is so friendly and efficient. The space is small inside with just one large table and couple seats on the side, so it can be tight squeeze inside. It's worth a visit though because you can taste the quality.
Was really excited to hear that a cute café like Amai was opening near me. We went on a Thursday afternoon and there was a short line. Their menu is incredibly innovative and has a lot of unique flavors, so it was super hard choosing just one. I wanted to try the mango matcha, too and the banana flavors also sounded good. We ended up ordering the Vietnamese coffee and the double matcha. The Vietnamese coffee was good, strong and not too sweet. However, my double matcha was very milky and tasted watered down. Despite it being the strongest matcha on the menu (supposedly), there was no matcha taste at all and it tasted more like just oat milk. The matcha cream on top was tasty and strong but not enough to balance out the milkiness of the matcha latte underneath. I was pretty disappointed, but hopefully it was just a one off. I hope I can come back and try some of the other flavors, and see if the matcha is redeemed. The space itself is super cute with wooden tables and a record player and plants in the corner. There are also chairs and tables outside, and it's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. A pretty convenient and cozy space - I'd opt for the coffee instead of matcha here or skip the double matcha and try a fruit matcha instead.
Stopped here before heading to the zoo with my daughter and so glad we did! The baristas were so sweet and friendly with my daughter and I! They are so intentional about design and taste! It is a small shop but has a perfect table for getting work done if you come early. Some outdoor seating as well. Excited to try the matcha next time but the barista recommended the turon latte and it was delicious.
Located in a small shopping center with some parking but extra parking next door in the Vons lot. Great variety of coffee and matcha drinks. With a specialty Asian inspired drink section and seasonal specials. They all looked really tasty and creative. Went with the following... Specialty Asian Inspired coffee drinks: Vietnamese House Coffee- Coffee, condensed milk, salted foam, and cacao powder Turon Banana- Espresso, milk, banana, banana foam, and banana chips The Vietnamese hose coffee was strong and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of condensed milk , now add a salty component with the foam and... perfect! I love all things banana and the TURON LATTE WAS SO YUMMY. Great espresso and lots of banana. Loved it! I don't think you can go wrong with any beverage here.
Saw people hyping up this place on Tik Tok and let's just say... don't trust everything you see on the internet! Came in on a Saturday afternoon & there was no wait! My boyfriend and I ordered the Matcha Einspanner (his with oat milk and mine with regular milk). I was profoundly disappointed... the matcha was lacking in flavor and grainy. All I really tasted was milk.... the cream top had a good amount of sweetness to it, but it's not enough to save the rest of the drink. I wish the matcha was stronger and was whisked better. Surprisingly, my boyfriend's oat milk matcha einspanner tasted stronger in matcha notes than mine, but still wasn't impressive... inconsistency in drinks is an issue that needs to be solved. Ample parking available as there is a free lot within the plaza. Interior is clean with limited tables and very small space.
We were excited to try this place. We looked the evening before coming for the hours. Yelp and Google state that they open at 7 am, but DoorDash said they take orders at 8 am. We figured Google is usually accurate, and 2 out of 3 places saying 7 am would probably mean they open then. We rationalized perhaps they didn't want DoorDash overwhelming them with orders in the morning so they opened orders at 8 am, who knows. We got to Amai at nearly 7:30 am and it was dark, closed. So disappointing, please update your hours, so we don't have to waste a trip. Parking lot was small; we only found parking probably because Amai isn't open and it's early. Hopefully I can update this review once I actually try their drinks, as I was really looking forward to the Turon banana coffee.
Wow!! New favorite spot or what?! I wish the parking lot was better... it's one of those one way in, one way out situations and extremely small. We parked around the back just on the street and walked over. There is a Vons lot next door but not sure if there is any security monitoring, so park at your own risk! The line was basically out the door. The inside is very small, few tables and seating inside and hard to wait inside for your drink. Best to wait outside since they keep the door open and will call your name anyway. Thought it was just all Japanese inspired but upon looking at the menu, there are lots of Filipino inspired drinks like Ube, Turon, and Pandan flavors!! Such a nice treat and love seeing more Turon and Pandan on the menu since it's almost always just Ube. Ordered an Amai Signature which was a bit on the sweeter side but we also got the Turon Banana Latte with banana foam and it was fantastic. Perfect sweetness and tastes like the Filipino dessert. Staff were a bit quiet and not super chatty but sometimes I like that, just get my drink and go lol. Overall a fantastic cafe and looking forward to coming back. Worth struggling to park for lol! Amai is such a solid spot. I've tried half of the menu at this point and everything is good. If you're a matcha fan, you can never go wrong with their matcha latte--it's perfectly creamy but not too sweet. The service is great even when they're busy, the wait time is never long. The inside has a very chill vibe. The space is small with 1 big table and probably not the best for studying, but it's perfect for a hangout. Plenty of parking! Perfect for a Grab and Go!
Drinks are pretty consistent here, whether it may be a cup of matcha or a latte. The cafe is a bit smaller and it can get packed pretty fast, especially during the morning rush. The only downside is the wait time as there would usually be just one person taking orders and making the drinks during the early morning.
Mango sticky rice drinks are all the craze on social media right now, so I had to try it myself! On a weekday afternoon, I was greeted and got my order taken promptly. The cafe is very sleek and modern, with a cute vinyl player and plants for decor and a single table for seating. I absolutely love the menu items- you can tell this is a Filipino cafe as not only does it have ube items (ube cruffin - how cute!), it also has pandan and turon- flavored drinks?! The Filipino yam Ube is getting all the craze right now, but pandan and turon- is rare to see, so I was very happy to see this on the menu! I got the mango sticky matcha and the ube cruffin - both were so delicious! The mango sticky matcha really did taste like mango sticky rice (minus the rice part - I'll hopefully find a cafe that includes sticky rice in the drink one day), and the cruffin was so flaky and had a luxurious ube cream inside. I will definitely come back to try the pandan matcha and the turon banana coffee!
Really good matcha and coffee. Came in here for an afternoon pick me up with the fam and it was very hard to choose between the matcha and coffee. Luckly 3 is a crowd and we each got a different drink and they were all spectacular. Very good ambience to come get a drink and chill out. Definitely recommend !! read more
First time here this afternoon with my husband. We have passed by it many times since my husband works across the street and never noticed it. We wanted to get coffee so I searched on Yelp and of course this popped up as closest lol. We literally walked there. The sign says Amai above the unit but not coffee so we never noticed. But anyways we are happy to find it cause the coffee was delicious. I loved every sip of the signature drink I got. And my husband loved his Americano. The coffee they use is amazing. Smells good, tastes good. Customer service was friendly and welcoming. We had a great experience. The only thing I can see as not convenient is the parking and the seating area. Very tight .... Stop by here after I dropped off my car at the dealership near by since I say einspanner on the menu! I got the horijcha and my friend got the matcha version. Both our drinks were mild in the tea taste and it wasn't as thick has I'm use to. Overall it was good but not crave-able great. read more

the matcha einspanner here is pretty solid! im glad this spot opened up since im local to glendale and usually have to drive to ktown for good drinks :) cant wait to be back and Im glad to have found a spot that not only is delicious but convenient! perfect to grab and go grocery shopping since its located right next to vons. would come back to try their different drinks, the menu is slightly limited but everything sounds amazing. This business is new and Im glad that it has become so popular through word of mouth and social media! We were looking forward to trying this place in Glendale. The service is terrible, the workers have tension, and the drinks are mediocre. The cream top is not tasty and the strawberry matcha latte is basically strawberry milk with a shot of matcha. Another customer ordered two of the same type of drink with different milk alternatives and when asked which one a drink was, the customer was only met with attitude. Please do better. read more

I came here on a lunch break and treated myself to the Pandan Matcha Iced Latte with oat milk. The service at the counter was friendly, quick, and very helpful when I asked about different items on the menu. My latte was VERY good and I am quite picky with my matcha. It needs to be the perfect shade of green, and they made my drink to perfection (not too sweet but flavorful thanks to the pandan syrup). I also picked up the Ube Cinnamon Roll. It was very good and I highly recommend while it's available! I look forward to visiting again to try out some of the other drinks on the menu! read more

Husband and I were in the area running errands and I was CRAVINGGGGG some matcha. I looked up nearby spots and found Amai! The parking lot is cramped and not the most convenient, but we were able to find a spot on a Saturday morning. The interior is really cute with minimalistic decor (and Japanese paper lanterns which I LOVE), and there's a fair amount of seating for how small the café is. All the baristas are really nice! I wasn't able to catch names but everyone was super friendly and helpful :) My husband ordered an iced Turon Banana with Banana Foam and I got their Banana Cream Matcha. The Turon Banana was a 5/5 for me! I really loved the toastiness of the latte, and the strong coffee complemented the sweetness of the banana. The drink actually tasted better over time! I'd give the Banana Cream Matcha a 4/5. The banana cream was absolutely delicious but I do wish the matcha flavor was a bit more prominent. It was still a solid drink and was a nice contrast to the Turon Banana! We'll definitely be back to try their other drinks! read more

A relatively new matcha/coffee shop in the Glendale area with Filipino-inspired flavors We tried the mango sticky matcha and iced banana cream matcha, half sweet. Both were extremely true to their flavors, not tasting artificial at all. Unlike some other cafes selling matcha, these drinks were a great balance of the matcha flavor and the added flavor without becoming a dessert of a drink. They also sell Asian-inspired pastries, which I will definitely be trying when my sweet tooth strikes. The inside is small, with one large table for studying or chatting, with some additional seats both inside and outside. I wouldn't recommend for studying, as the sun can be blinding and you are sitting directly next to the door, where customers are constantly coming in and out. Very cute interior regardless! The drinks came out to be $7-8 each, which is not uncommon to see these days. To me, a worthy price for quality drinks in the neighborhood. The parking lot is a bit small (probably less than 20 spots) and shared with a number of other businesses, so just be prepared! read more
Amai Coffee finally opened in Glendale!! I couldn't be happier cos I've been seeing them all over my feed & been wanting to go. This cafe has been my fave treat after work & part of my routine now. My goal is to try everything in their menu, but so far my top picks are Strawberry Matcha & Iced Manila Vanilla. The seating is very limited. It's more like a grab 'n go set-up. Service was great. Minimalist atmosphere. The score is for the cold/ cream foam I was supposed to have on all 4 of my drinks. It was nonexistent. When that is an integral part of the drink and why I chose to give Amai a try, it is very disappointing that my cold/cream foam looks like milk with bubbles and does not float to the top like in the advertised photos. Banana Turon w/ Banana cold/cream foam- $7.50 total. I paid for the added banana foam. Where's my foam? Also the banana flavor is so mild that I can hardly taste banana. Amai signature- $6.75. Comes topped with cold/cream foam. This one I haven't even mixed the "foam" into the drink. Where is it? Matcha Einspanner- $7.00. The cold foam is in the name. Again, where is it? I think I need to send out a search party to find my cold/cream foam!! read more

A cute little coffee shop tucked away in a corner! I was recommended their matcha and have been here twice since. The first time was better than my second even though I ordered the same drink both times. Seems like the staff is still getting the hang of their menu...? Both times, the staff was serious and only friendly towards each other, which I didn't really mind but it was awkward trying to order while they joked with each other. Was in the area and wanted some matcha! Amari caught my attention! I've never been to this little spot before but I just needed a quick pick me up. Lucky for me, I found parking in the small lot. When I walked in, I was immediately welcomed by a small, yet, relaxing minimalistic aesthetic and welcoming humans preparing drinks and pastries for their customers. They had many options on their menu but the mood today was matcha. Also, for my Avatar the Last Air Bender fans, I think I saw a pastry shaped like Appa! The Matcha Einspanner (I ordered it with oat milk) is the perfect balance between sweet and "matcha-y". It hit the spot, that's for sure! Thank you Amai! read more

Idk what is up with customer service these days. I ordered a turon banana latte and even pointed at the menu when doing so. The cashier did not repeat back my order or anything and when I paid it only showed the total price. They were so confident that I did not think to doubt what they heard. The drink came out while I was in the restroom and when I went to go taste it, it tasted like vanilla not banana. I had my boyfriend go check to make sure the order was correct and all they said was you ordered a "manila vanilla" not a "turon banana" with a very blunt tone. No "sorry did you mean to order the turon banana" or "sorry I might have misheard you". I have NO idea how turon banana sounds like manila vanilla and the way that responded was very dissapointing. It was very rude and dismissive. I would have loved to come back but this experience put a bad taste in my mouth :( read more

i really like amai. it's a cute but small place to come n get coffee or matcha. i like that they are located inside a plaza w/ parking which is super nice. i first off want to say that the ladies who made my matcha are absolutely the sweetest darlings ever! both ladies were so welcoming & had such a energetic attitude that i loved so much! so, i ordered myself i think their banana cream matcha latte. mhm, it was really good matcha! i could've asked for a hint of more banana bcos it did lack a little bit. i like their cup sizes, the cups aren't too small nor too big. i also tried their pistachios croissant pastry & it was good. read more

I've tried and loved the other locations so I already had high expectations. I love the Asian-inspired drinks like the turon banana, but some of them weren't available due to being newly opened. Ended up getting the hojicha einspanner (wasn't as creamy as I expected, but was a good balance of sweetness and the hojicha taste) and honeycomb latte (perfect amount of sweetness). I was also excited to try some pastries, but they said they're just available for weekends for now. Parking lot, WiFi, and limited seating area inside. Looking forward to going back especially once fully opened! read more

Amai Coffee & Tea 4106 San Fernando Road #H, Glendale, CA 91204 - 5/5 2/5 ($) parking lot - Amai has finally landed close to the Valley! I have been WAITING to try Amai, and I was so happy to find out that they JUST opened one in Glendale. We ordered: 1. Amai Signature 2. Manila Vanilla 3. Blueberry Matcha 4. Ube Cinnamon Roll First the cafe itself, is super small, BUT SUPER CUTE! It has ambient lightning and a lot of seats surprisingly! The girls that were working were also super, super sweet and were so helpful in guiding us on what drinks to choose! I didn't know that Amai was Filipino owned, and so I was so surprised to see Filipino inspired drinks! We ordered the Manila Vanilla and Amai Signature, which were both the perfect blend of sweet flavor and the bitterness of espresso. The blueberry matcha was also super flavorful, but a little sweet for me. Next time, I would def go a little less sweet. However, we also ordered the Ube Cinnamon Roll, which was also SUPER sweet, but WE ENJOYED it. I really loved this matcha! When they said the flavor was balanced, they really meant it. The matcha was umami and not too nutty. I think for me, I'd like it extra sweet better next time. As the ice melted, the cold foam stepped in and balanced it out perfectly. I also loved the place, it felt cozy and homey. Love it! Will definitely come back. read more
