Talk about trendy coffee shops -- this is one of them. Tucked away in a hidden industrial area, when you map it, it'll actually be a bit hard to find. Once you actually find it (pro-tip: it's not by the parking), you'll enter a beautiful oasis. The drinks are beautiful and quite tasty as well. My husband got the mascarpone and I got the marble. Both drinks were fantastic. You can actually taste the delicious roast of the coffee. This could make a great spot to meet with a friend or get a few hours of work done with your doggy.

So Quat is basically an expansion from the Kumquat / Loquat coffee group, so I'm thinking it's a connected sister/umbrella brand situation. I'm also not sure if Wynd is part of it as well (they were located on Virgil but moved elsewhere in the Arts District), but I did notice there was some sort of pop-up happening here too. I really love the location it's in, it's sort of hidden, and you might actually miss it if you're not looking for it. You park in the lot adjacent to it, and there's a sign that leads you to walk in. It really does feel like an oasis, like some people have described, tucked away from everything. Anyways, the coffee is amazing. The attention to detail these coffee shops put into everything is the cherry on top of it all. I'm a simple gal with my iced lattes with whole milk and no sweetener, and this place just knows how to get the ratio right, smooth, balanced, and not overpowering at all. Aside from it all, this location is definitely promising and I can see a lot of other businesses flourishing here. The vibe is so Zen.

I've really enjoyed all the other Loquat locations. Now that this opened up by our place, we had to check it out. The location has a very nice quiet minimalist aesthetic, tucked in the corner of a cul de sac. Great space to get some work/writing done. However, currently there is no Wifi. Service was friendly and the wait time for drinks is fairly quick. The drinks we got tasted smooth and well balanced. The pastries are good and would love to come back and try their breakfast burritos. The retail store next door is great and has a wide variety of coffee beans and matcha to purchase.

I visited on a Saturday, and parking was easy. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but not all of it is shaded, so be prepared for some sun if the covered spots are taken. The shop and coffee area have separate entrances, and drinks aren't allowed inside the store. There's a cart/rack near the entrance where you can leave your drinks while you shop, which is convenient. I've been looking for a matcha bowl for a while and came across one from Origami. It was labeled $26, which seemed like a great deal given the quality. Unfortunately, at checkout, the staff told me it had been mislabeled and was actually $45, and they couldn't honor the marked price. I understand mistakes happen, and I did overhear them saying it was someone else's error--they weren't sure how the $26 tag ended up there. It sounded like that price might have been the original Japanese yen price without markup. I guess it really was too good to be true. Still, it was a bit disappointing since I was excited to find it at that price in the U.S. Make sure you are charged the correct price during checkout in case they made the same mistake on other products and you get charged more than what you expect. Other than that, the staff was friendly. The coffee was decent, and the seating area had a really nice vibe. I would recommend this place if you are in the area and wanted to enjoy coffee without parking hassle. It's not exceptionally good coffee but it's still decent.

This place feels like a hidden secret garden. Minimalist and intentional with strong Japan-meets-Copenhagen energy. Calm, quiet, and beautifully restrained. It feels more like a curated space or small museum than a typical cafe. Order Highlights: We ordered several drinks and loved all of them. Standouts were the Matcha Latte and Cloudy With a Chance of Peanuts. Balanced, thoughtful, and clearly quality-driven. The Mocha is high on our list for next time. Service: Wait times vary wildly depending on when you come. We've experienced everything from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Mornings move fast, afternoons can back up. Regardless, service is efficient and you can tell each drink is made with serious care and attention to detail. Good For: A quiet coffee break, design lovers, and anyone who appreciates intentional spaces. The retail area is beautifully curated with unique items you do not see everywhere, which helps explain the higher price point. Price and Value: Comparable to other specialty cafes in Los Angeles. You are paying for quality, atmosphere, and the overall experience, not just a drink. Parking: Dedicated parking lot on site, which is rare in LA and a huge reason we keep coming back. Pro Tip: Come early if you want pastries. The case is often empty by afternoon. Seating is mostly outdoors and on dirt, so dress accordingly.

If you love trying specialty coffees and willing to spend a bit more for it, come try QUAT. Known for their other successful locations Loquat and Kumquat, Quat is constantly buzzing in the LA coffee scene. Expect a line, especially in the mornings. We waited in line for about 25 minutes and they had ran out of whole milk by the time we got to the front. The cafe is majority outdoor seating so very much weather dependent location. The private parking lot is right outside which is convenient. My matcha cloud latte was decent, not mindblowing or memorable in any way though. The topping was really rich and milky. The matcha wasn't strong or earthy forward. The whole drink was pretty mild in taste and mostly was creamy rather than matcha. My husband's latte was enjoyable but the cup was really small for the price. Its best to drink it immediately before it even has the chance to water down. With that said, I think the coffee here is better than the matcha. They have some nice merchandise, coffee tools, beans, matcha powder, and coffee books for sale.

Admittedly, we haven't been to Loquat or Kumquat yet - and have heard only great things about both coffee shops, but have been to Fondry! And so with a free Sunday morning, we made the trek out to Glassell Park to check out Quat LA - and we loved everything about it! When we arrived around 11:30am, there were about 3 parties in front of us, and the line moved quickly. We ordered the latte (hot) and cloudy with a chance of peanuts, along with the kouign amann (from Fondry). The drinks were good, nothing crazy, but solidly good. Although I should note that the cloudy drink is on the smaller side and I wish the peanut butter flavor was stronger. But what we appreciated even more was the space and the complex and being able to just sit and rest with our dog, who probably loved his experience the most. The retail store is also cute with an assortment of coffee related items, merch, and a number of beans. In total, we spent about two hours here, sitting, sipping, people watching, reading - just trying to enjoy a perfect LA day. It can get sunny though, so make sure to bring sunglasses/a hat. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the biggest perk of all - the free parking in the lot adjacent to the complex! Even though Glassell Park is furthest from us, in comparison to the other coffee shops, we'd probably return here most often because of the parking and the spacious seating. We'll be back soon!

Taking advantage of LA's more decent traffic right after Thanksgiving, I finally paid a visit to Quat. Not only the road, the venue itself was at least less busy during this period. I've been hearing at least 30 minutes queue before even able to either place your order or enjoy your drink, but this weekend was much quieter (not like the venue was empty for sure, there's still quite a crowd there!). You could really tell the slow and chill vibes right by the time you enter the venue. People just sit and relax, mostly within their groups or with their pets; yep the venue was really suitable to do so! Don't be surprise that there will be tons of dog-barking to hear! Despite the huge open-air seating space to let you get sun-kissed, the indoor order area was quite tiny. They offered handful selections of drinks as well as the coffee beans. My visit was the last collab day with Wynd, which got me so excited being A HUGE FAN of it! As expected, very impressed by their signature Tres Leches. Decadently bold coffee, well balanced by the mascarpone cream top and cinnamon hint. It's kind of like dessert coffee, but not overly creamy that giving you 'too much' feeling #IYKYK. Really looking forward to seeing what they're going to carry out next post this collab and I'd surely be a happy returning customer!

Quat is a coffee compound, while I mainly came here to drink coffee, this location offers the best retail shop for coffee I've ever seen. There are so many accessories for coffee including an expansive offering of beans. I do plan on coming back and getting some coffee items. Onsite aside from the store is the roastery for quat and retail shop. Seating is all outside but there is a nice outside area to enjoy your coffee. I tired two of their signature coffee Yuzu coffee punch and Muscuvado latte. First the punch has to be the most unique coffee concoction ever. I was told they make the milk clear. It is a unique citrus taste with coffee flavor very hard to describe. The latte I had was pretty solid, I think next time I'll get my coffee hot. Coming here makes me want to try both the other Loquat & Quat locations , I can't wait to come back. If you're a craft coffee lover you have to visit this place.

I am a huge fan of both kumquat and loquat so I was very excited to see they were opening this location. They are still currently in their soft opening phase but are doing a collaboration with wynd for a bit so their general menu is not available. Park in the designated lot to the left of the street and walk across to the warehouse studios. Inside they have two buildings, one for retail and the other for the cafe. The retail side has a wide variety of coffee, tea, barista tools and misc items. Seating for the cafe is only outside.

Absolutely loved this coffee shop! The coffee and desserts were delicious, the service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance was beautiful, cozy, and inviting. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

They change the size for the same price hoping you won't notice - no units are written on their menu so they can get away with it.

Total scam. They gave me a smaller cup on the weekday from what they gave me on the weekend for the same high price - they don't list the amounts of coffee on the menu so they can act innocent. But I kept my cup and can prove it. I won't return, I'll support honest local coffee shops that focus on the REAL community and not ones trying to scale a brand which always have these kinds of deceptive business practices behind them. Makes me wonder what else they do behind the scenes to vendors, suppliers, working-class support staff, etc. says a lot about who they are.

A coffee place with big patio, parking and is dog friendly. I think this would be a perfect co-working area if they expands their opening hours. Service was quick. I ordered a matcha latte and it was good, but not memorable, just your typical $7 LA matcha latte. Love that they have an open space so my pup can chill by my side and the jazzy music is definitely a plus.

So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.
