I really enjoy some of the salads here. And the bus boy is the nicest guy in the world. The waitress with the long blonde hair needs to step up her game. She is not attentive, doesn't check on you. She disappears FOREVER. Seems like she's the only server I've ever had there and that sucks because she really does the least she can do. She should really have her hair in a bun and more secured. Is she out back smoking most of her shift? Girl get it together and be more personable with your guests. Check on them, see if the food is good? Give us refills? Come on.......Some of the booths are really uncomfortable, with weird abnormally overstuffed cushions that lean back awkwardly. Omelet was savory and I liked that it was served under seasoned (salt and pepper) which allowed me to add to my taste. I was debating on a burger or a stack of pancakes with eggs bacon and hash browns and she told me to go with the pancakes. The Dish is a wonderful place for any meal. With active toasters on the booth tables it reminds one to order a many bread items as possible when 'Dish-ing' for breakfast. I recommend the Chicken Piccata but substitute the mashed potatoes with linguini or the excellent Patty Melt sandwich served with humungous onion rings. The Salmon Wrap is also very amazing as it is perfect if one doesn't want to feel stuffed after eating and when paired either with a salad or sliced tomatoes its a perfect balance for one to 'feel healthier' The Green Garden salad that can be chopped upon request is a phenomenal and more healthy option and paired perfectly with an ice tea for lunch. read more

We come here regularly for happy hour/dinner. We love the fireplace. Jesse is always great and we love the casual vibe. Whomever comes up with the seasonal drinks does a great job. Very delicious. The food is fine; they have a great burger, short ribs and soups. Breakfast is also pretty good. Love the toasters on the tables. It's been around for a long time and it would be nice to see a little touch-up, starting with the women's restroom, which has a terrible smell. Not familiar with the area, we got a recommendation for this place from someone at Descanso Gardens. We were pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome we received as we entered a very unique looking almost ranch house like interior. It's definitely got some age but with it came a good amount of charm. Very happy to see the American flag proudly on display. Shannon was our server and she is the sweetest, happy person. Rachel and the pretty short hair runner were also super friendly and helpful. Everyone had big smiles and obviously love being there. We tried several items and overall really enjoyed it. But I went with the filet of sole that came with mashed potatoes, garlic spinach and a lemon caper sauce, and it was very yummy! The spinach was a tad bit salty for me, but overall everything was flavorful! My husband ordered the pulled pork burger, and also thought it was tasty. He had it with sweet potato fries and they were quite crispy and quite sweet...wouldn't surprise me they added a bit of honey to it! Staff were friendly, especially our server. I went to a really fun dinner here with friends. This restaurant is big and spacious and not too loud to hear your friends talk. I loved that aspect of it. I was not, however, impressed with the food. The mashed potatoes that came with my meal were cold and tasted a bit undercooked. And everything else on the plate was very underwhelming. It was also frustrating that when my friend paid her tab in cash, the waiter just assumed that he could keep the difference between the bill and what she gave him. She was not trying to tip him $18 on a $42 tab. She actually had to ask him for her change back and then give him his 20% cash tip. The tipping culture is out of control and no waiter should ever assume that all the cash given to pay a bill is theirs to keep. Especially now that the minimum wage for waiters has been raised to $16.50 an hour. Would I go back? Sure, I might give it another try if I was in the area. I don't live locally so that's probably not going to happen, but I would give it another try. read more

It's a large restaurant, so even though it was packed and Mother's Day, we were seated fairly quickly without a reservation. The coffee was good enough could've been a little bit stronger. (Full disclosure I need to super strong coffee to live.) My kid wasn't that friendly and just had fries what she thought were good enough. I had the Florentine Quiche (though our server miss heard me initially and brought Florentine Benedict to start. That was quickly replaced with what I had asked for) the quiche was perfectly prepared. Nice and fluffy key should be. Potatoes on the side. Could've used a little bit more seasoning did the job the potatoes are supposed to do. My wife had a Florentine Benedict without the English muffin as she is gluten-free. She thought it was good, but would've appreciated more gluten-free bread options. You can see the local appeal of a restaurant like this with lots of breakfast options, I mean stay when you want classic foods. Try the patty melt and tuna melt. The omelettes are great, as are the chicken wings. Great onion rings, too. One big complaint: they have the worst smelling restaurant bathroom. I don't understand why they don't fix it. It smells like a latrine. For a place in such an upscale neighborhood, you'd think they would fork over the cash to update their plumbing or whatever it is that's causing the issue.
