I was debating on a burger or a stack of pancakes with eggs bacon and hash browns and she told me to go with the pancakes. Apple Pie - on the smaller side, but fresh made in house and the spices were good more on the stronger side with a scoop of vanilla ice completes the meal Their menu is different breakfast, lunch, and dinner meaning lots of coming visits even though we live outside the convenience distance. I went to a really fun dinner here with friends. This restaurant is big and spacious and not too loud to hear your friends talk. I loved that aspect of it. I was not, however, impressed with the food. The mashed potatoes that came with my meal were cold and tasted a bit undercooked. And everything else on the plate was very underwhelming. It was also frustrating that when my friend paid her tab in cash, the waiter just assumed that he could keep the difference between the bill and what she gave him. She was not trying to tip him $18 on a $42 tab. She actually had to ask him for her change back and then give him his 20% cash tip. The tipping culture is out of control and no waiter should ever assume that all the cash given to pay a bill is theirs to keep. Especially now that the minimum wage for waiters has been raised to $16.50 an hour. Would I go back? Sure, I might give it another try if I was in the area. I don't live locally so that's probably not going to happen, but I would give it another try. read more

We were pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome we received as we entered a very unique looking almost ranch house like interior. We had a good experience at dish after a visit to Descanso Gardens. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was good enough. It's a large restaurant, so even though it was packed and Mother's Day, we were seated fairly quickly without a reservation. The coffee was good enough could've been a little bit stronger. (Full disclosure I need to super strong coffee to live.) My kid wasn't that friendly and just had fries what she thought were good enough. I had the Florentine Quiche (though our server miss heard me initially and brought Florentine Benedict to start. That was quickly replaced with what I had asked for) the quiche was perfectly prepared. Nice and fluffy key should be. Potatoes on the side. Could've used a little bit more seasoning did the job the potatoes are supposed to do. My wife had a Florentine Benedict without the English muffin as she is gluten-free. She thought it was good, but would've appreciated more gluten-free bread options. After about a year not going to Dish I revisited today. I called ahead and asked if as in another occasion the chef could prepare one of my fav dishes not on the menu any longer. Despite the fact they were obviously very busy Meaghan answered my call and handled my request quickly and professionally. Yes, chef can do that. I headed over and sat at the bar where the server/bartender made me a perfect skinny margarita and despite being very busy provided excellent service. The dish was just as I remembered, excellent.
