Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. The way the customer was treated was extremely rude and unprofessional. While trying to place an order, the employee repeatedly interrupted and cut the customer off before they could even finish speaking. The tone was dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. What made the experience even worse was that when the situation was brought to the owner's attention, instead of listening or addressing the concern, she brushed it off and was rude and dismissive herself. The interaction also came across as discriminatory and made us feel that we were being treated differently because of our race. Regardless of the reason, every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. I understand that businesses can have busy or stressful moments, but there is no excuse for speaking to customers this way or refusing to acknowledge inappropriate behavior. I really wanna love this place. Montrose has desparately needed more independent coffee shops. Don't get me wrong, I love that they've recrafted the old cleaners spot while maintaining the old facade and updating it to be more modern and open. And yes the coffee is really good. That said, it's a little too pretentious. The staff members while nice, can come off as cold. I hate the pickup window because it's completely blocks your face and the staff members face. You have to bend down just to say something to them. And the prices are way too high. $8 for a latte plus $1 for milk. When a carton of milk costs $4-5, a splash of milk should not be $1. Sizes resemble the size of a Tall at Starbucks. I understand as a small business you gotta do what you gotta do to keep your margins, but these prices feel like they're nickel and diming you. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a coffee shop. The behavior and attitude of the employees were beyond rude, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. What was especially disturbing was the way certain customers appeared to be treated differently from others. The interaction was so uncomfortable and inappropriate that it came across as borderline discriminatory and left us wondering whether race or ethnicity played a role in how we were treated. Unfortunately, speaking with the owner only made the situation worse. Instead of showing even the slightest concern about how customers were being treated, the owner was dismissive, arrogant, and seemed completely uninterested in addressing the behavior of the staff. That told me everything I needed to know about why employees apparently feel comfortable behaving this way. Bad coffee can be forgiven. A long wait can be forgiven. Even an employee having a bad day can be forgiven. But treating customers with disrespect and making them feel unwelcome because of who they are crosses a completely different line. There are far too many great coffee shops with kind, professional people behind the counter to spend your money at a business that treats customers this way. There is limited attached parking in their back lot but free street parking on the side street its attached to. My dad and I came by on a weekday morning and this was decently packed. We stopped by on a Sunday morning and could tell it was a popular neighborhood spot. There was a short line but it moved quickly. There's some seating available but is limited. This is a nice spot to relax and chat but not really ideal for working. There is a very small parking lot on site but there's street parking available. Love the fun lighting in the bathroom too! I tried the iced matcha latte which I really enjoyed - just the perfect sweetness and not too sweet, and felt really refreshing on a warm day. Matcha quality was not bad too. Honestly the pretentious vibe here is what gets such a bad review from me. The coffee is decent at best, but the cashier almost always has an attitude, especially if someone dares to ask for light ice. Beautiful re-use of a retro dry cleaning business, this coffee house is a nice addition to the Montrose coffee scene. Landscaped with native plants, it's a great place to have a coffee and relax. I also love that they saved the old signs! The coffee itself is just okay, tbh; the cinnamon roll I ordered was hard as a rock (but they said the day's pastries hadn't arrived yet.) On my second visit, the chai was actually delicous and highly recommended. The prices are not cheap, although inflationary pressures may be partly to blame. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and I always thought it was an actual Regal dry cleaning place! Who would have known that all this time, it was an actual coffee joint. Free parking lot, but also plenty of free street parking. Once inside, I was surprised how small it was. A couple local friends and I love to meet up in local spots and one of my friends recommended this place. I love all the big rocks and landscaping.
