I LOVE LOVE cafe 86. Psyched that the eagle rock one is open! Recently met the new owners Elaine and Andrew, who are super friendly and sweet. They are so excited to own this awesome shop. Why wouldn't they? Literally everything in there is so good. My top faves: ube truffle, mais con yelo bar, the best halo halo in town (upside down version), and the ube cheesecake. All of their shakes are also ridiculously rich and delicious. The inside is humble and clean. They always play good background music too. Staff here is super kind and friendly but my drink just did not come out well. I asked if the Thai milkshake was good and the cashier said it was one of their most popular drinks. Great! Well either they made the drink wrong or didn't give me the right drink because what I got was not a Thai tea "milkshake" rather a frozen block of Thai tea full of ice chunks. Needed an afternoon pick me up, and all other non commercial coffee shops within the area were closed. I would always see this place every time I'd go to Sprouts and remembered a window sign stating they serve coffee. Upon entering my sister and I were nicely greeted by the person at the front. Walking in you feel a sense of community and welcome ness with many posters for local events as well as other small knick knacks to observe and buy. Ambiance and staff were definitely the highlight of this location. Now onto the drink. Maybe because I was expecting something different or what, but this drink was not pleasant at all! We ordered the cookie butter latte to be able to try something different and interesting. What this drink consisted of was a heaping scoop of biscoff butter spread almost like peanut butter, with the espresso shot pulled on top of it, and lastly a whole bunch of milk. I usually can withstand coffee that's not made well or burnt, but this seriously did not taste good at all. As much as I tried, the thick cookie butter did not dissolve into the drink and it left a very chalky like texture in mouth. I was really excited to try Cafe 86. Out with the old check cashing business to this delightful new business! My friend and I were debating what the place will be when it was still under construction, a bakery?, a cake shop? a cafe (obviously lol) but we totally did not expect that this will be a Filipino Dessert shop!
