    Half of Nickos Favorite
    Diane R.

We were recommended to try this food truck it is a food truck parked in front of an Altadena drive up dairy. The food truck is tiny but the sandwiches are large! One sandwich is enough to feed to two people or one person over several meals. The bread and ingredients are fresh and tasty. These are great sandwiches. We had a turkey pesto and Nico's special both were excellent. Usually turkey sandwiches are bland but this turkey pesto was very flavorful but messy. We called in our order at opening and the sandwiches were ready as promised.

Just 1/2 of the Nicko's Special

I was feeling like having a cold deli sandwich today and found Nicko's Sandwiches on Yelp. What a find! You can park in the lot at Verdugo Dairy, where this food truck resides. Order at the truck window and you'll be given a beeper to alert you when your sandwich is ready. I ordered the Nicko's Special whole . The bread was fresh and just the right thickness to hold it together without being too much. It had a little crunch, without your bite not squeezing the contents out. I loved the combination of quality ingredients. Meats, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoncini, tomatoes.....yummmmm!!!! So much goodness! The gentleman taking my order was very nice and thoughtful, setting off the beeper just as the sandwich was being wrapped up. I'll let all my friends and family know about the great food here. Definitely will be back!

I have been wanting to try the sandwiches from Nickos truck and finally I got to today while in the area. There are a few sandwiches on the menu but I got the Nikos favorite. It was so delicious, made with freshly baked bread loaded with mortadella salami prosciutto pistachio pesto tomatoes olives mozzarella arugula balsamic. So so good. It's a flavor bomb in your mouth. It's a good size sandwich fairly priced. It's easily shareable since it's loaded with stuff. Customer service is friendly and welcoming. Must try.

    Half a Nickos Favorite!

Interestingly enough, I've never been to Nicko's. A friend on the west side told my wife she was bringing over the best sandwich ever and we had Nickos favorite dropped off for us 40 minutes later. Now considering this was made in a food truck, driven 40 minutes, and sat in a bag smelling up the foyer while we exchanged pleasantries and gifts, it's pretty incredible that this still ended being my wife's favorite cold cut sandwich period. I can't say anything about service or ambiance since I've never seen this mythical truck, but the sandwich is fantastic. So quick thoughts... Nickos Favorite - Really well balanced sandwich that's tastes really fresh for a deli meat sandwich. My wife says it reminds her of a Caprese in sandwich form, and the combination of pesto, ricotta, mayo and balsamic combine perfectly. The meat is much less salty than I would expect of deli meats in general and it works with the other ingredients. Both of us loved the bread. Thin, crispy, works really well here. The pistachio shavings were also a great touch. Now the prices may not look cheap, but they actually give you a lot of sandwich. The picture i took here is only half of the order since my wife destroyed the other half while making happy noises. We're actively looking for excuses to begin the area now so i can try new things and she can keep eating this one. Definitely worth a try if you haven't already.

I always passed by this spot! I finally decided to check it out when I was craving for a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The Philly role was their version. It was awesome, had a lot of meat, and special sauce that they gave me on the side just enhanced its flavor. Only quip was that I wish it wasn't so expensive. But then again, what isn't these days? I can't wait to come back and check out the other sandwiches!

Wow! This place is legit and deserves the almost perfect star rating. Nickos Sandwiches is a food truck located in a liquor store parking lot. I'm not sure if you can park where the liquor store is but we parked on the street! We decided to share a Philly roll and Nicko's favorite. We decided on one sandwich off the cold and one off the hot sandwiches section. We received the Philly first and it was terrific! I wanted to gobble the whole thing. I love the bread, meats, veggies, and cheese in this sandwich. It was great but didn't feel heavy like other Philly sandwiches. The meat they used was ribeye and the cheese melted well with it. Next, I took a couple of bites of the Nicko, it felt more on the lighter side and refreshing after the Philly! There was a lot going on but I like it. The bread wasn't thick and the ratio of ingredients was the right amount. This sandwich was big! I also love that they wrap the sandwich in two so it was perfect to share. Note: I would call and put in your order because we were quoted 20-30 minutes wait but it was only around 10-15 minutes. Overall, if you're craving a good sandwich come check this place out.

Ok, so the last 3 times I have been here to Nickos have been fairly disappointing. I ordered a chopped(now off the menu) and the roll that it was made on was toasted so much that it tasted stale. When I went back again thinking it was a fluke I got The Philly and specifically asked for the roll not to be toasted because of my previous experience. When I got my order he told me here's you Philly lightly toasted.... I was just confused and again disappointed but I took my sandwich. Nicko wasn't there for those 2 time and had been every other time, but Nicko treated so well and was so nice I decided to try one more time today. Nicko was there today, and I tried to say something about this, but it was busy and it just felt brushed off. I figured I'd get the Nickos Special since it has always been good. When I got home and opened the sandwich and it just seemed so sloppy, the arugula falling out everywhere way too many olives, and it seemed like it was a slice or 2 short on mortadella. I could have sworn that they used to use stracciatella instead even though mozzarella and ricotta were on the menu which was amazing(maybe I just got lucky a few times in the beginning). Maybe it's just bad luck but I'm going to have a hard time coming back. Fresh ingredients and good flavors though.

Hands down THE best sandwiches ever!! I had guests over last night and told them I was going to order from Nickos (through door dash) ahead of time and let me tell you, they were in awe when they took the first bite lol they loved it!! I've had it before a couple of months ago and loved it from the get go!! My fav is the Turkey Pesto (no cheese) and my hubbies is the Mortadella. I have a picture from my left over from last night that I have taken a few bites of, because they all grubbed so fast, we didn't get a chance to take any decent photos lol If you haven't tried their sandwiches, you should give it a go, you won't be disappointed, I'm telling you, they are fire!!! And customer service is on point and the staff is so nice!! Thank you guys for the amazing sandwiches :)

    The ideal sandwich

Wow! What a perfectly portioned explosion of flavor! I'm not a huge sandwich girly, but I could not pass up this beauty. Nikos was recently at an event I went to and it has surpassed any sandwich expectation I ever had. I chose Nikos favorite and the combo of flavors was absolute perfection. I think I had a half sandwich which honestly was the ideal amount to fill you up and not get that afternoon crash. The bread was next level and every ingredient tasted fresh and crisp! Drooling just thinking about it

    Perfectly set up for catering!
    Scott S.

I'm a big fan, obviously, but they went above and beyond when I ordered a bunch of sandwiches for my friends. They suggested a perfect mix of styles and cut them in quarter to display them catering style. These guys are absolutely amazing and truly pros.

Lovely, old fashioned diner with exposed brick walls, distressed furniture and a mix of old and new American decor. Very comfortable and homey. The best part was the food though. The chef doesn't know it's a diner apparently. I had a lovely chicken piccata that was superb! The only thing I didn't do was lick the plate clean, it was so good. Fare you'd expect from a nice Italian bistro. They have a devil's den full of desserts they make, too. I had a banana cream pie that was ridiculously good, along with an excellent coffee. They have a full coffee bar as well as the dessert bar. Service was terrific and the pricing was moderate for the quality. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with a large menu filled with American comfort food favorites. We have a ballgame to go to mid August. We are going to eat early dinner here before the game. Cannot wait to try their chicken pot pie!

If you go during the breakfast/brunch rush on the weekends, def take a few deep breaths as there can be a wait. Often, the patio fills up quite quickly. But sometimes it's just the luck of arriving at the perfect moment. As far as the entrees are concerned, I particularly like the Chile Stuffed Skillet when I'm craving a savory breakfast meal. It's made with a pasilla pepper stuffed with bacon, cheddar, and a poached egg. It's baked it in an iron skillet on top of potatoes, and it's topped off with ranchera sauce and sour cream. And let me tell ya, those house-made biscuits are amazing. Warm, crumbly, and melt in your mouth like a good biscuit should. The house-made jams are also a nice treat and feel like having a sample of grandma's (or mom's) kitchen. On of my visits, a friend ordered the Banana Bread French Toast, and it made me wish I had two stomachs so that I could eat that as well. But like a good friend, she noticed that I was eyeing her breakfast like a puppy dog begging from scraps. So she was gracious enough to split some and do a trade with one of my biscuits. I think the trade was quite fair. Next time, we agreed to go halfsies on the Corn Flake Crusted French Toast because they're really exceptional, and the Morning Quiche (which is only served on the weekends).

Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café…read more Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café reminded me that we live for the wonderful experiences that remain to be discovered. After a wonderful lunch date with my wife at Raffi's Place (please read my review and thank me later) in Glendale, I decided to look for the perfect dessert. After scouting several nearby locations, I decided I was in the mood for a great cinnamon roll. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café looked like the place that would deliver the experience I was seeking. SDLBC is listed as being in Glendale, but it's located in the historic Old Town of Montrose. That's beside the point; I only mention it because there are additional places to explore just up the street. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and there wasn't much of a selection left, including the highly sought-after cinnamon roll. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly, and I immediately asked if that was all the pastries they had. He said yes. I contemplated leaving because of the nonexistent cinnamon roll, but I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to give the bakery a try since we were already there. So, we basically took half of what remained behind the glass display case: a Peach Almond Croissant, a Raspberry Pistachio Croissant, an Almond Croissant, and then my curiosity focused on a few lonely-looking pastries that were unfamiliar to my discerning eyes. I asked the gentleman what they were, and he replied with something that sounded completely foreign to me: Kouign-Amann. Kouign-Amann (pronounced queen ah-MAHN) is a traditional pastry from the region of Brittany, France. It is often considered one of the richest pastries in the world because it is made with just a few simple ingredients in generous proportions: bread dough, butter, and sugar. Figuring we needed a few more sweets for the road, we took all the remaining Kouign-Amanns. Two were the traditional version, and the other two were filled with crème and blueberry jam. We also ordered a Café Americano and a Café Mocha. While we waited for our drinks, I simply couldn't wait any longer. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I eagerly opened my gift and dug right into the Kouign-Amann. Hesitantly, I tore off a tiny piece with my fingers, expecting nothing extraordinary, and instantly gave birth to a brand-new experience that exploded in my mouth. The crisp exterior gave way to the soft, flaky center, followed by waves of what tasted like delicate honey. I tore off another piece and shared it with my wife. One look at her eyes told me she wanted more. By the time our drinks were ready, we had devoured one of the Kouign-Amanns and confessed to the gentleman behind the counter that we had just experienced pure ecstasy in the form of a pastry. Kouign-Amann is, in fact, one of the richest pastries in the world, so don't let the unfamiliar name keep you from trying one. The Café Americano and the Café Mocha were also exceptionally well prepared. With everything that's happening in the world these days, a simple yet profound experience like this reminded me how wonderful life can still be. Like Arnold said... "I'll be back." Enjoy!

Walking inside, the restaurant had a beautiful hacienda-style atmosphere with comfortable seating. We arrived right when they opened, so it wasn't busy. The dining room was very clean, and the restrooms were spotless as well. I loved that it was fluffy, not greasy, and incredibly flavorful. As for the enchilada, I really enjoyed the shredded beef. The red sauce wasn't very spicy, which I prefer. I love a flavorful enchilada sauce without too much heat. Some restaurants make their sauce overly spicy, but this one was just perfect. The rice and beans were also excellent. The rice was soft and fluffy, not dry or hard, and the beans were well-seasoned without being overly salty like they are at many other restaurants. I truly enjoyed every bite of my meal. My best friend ordered the combination plate with one item: a shrimp enchilada with green sauce, served with rice and beans. She absolutely loved her meal and already wants to come back.
