We came into SushiStop on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately, which was definitely a plus. Unfortunately, one of the plates we were given was still stained with food, which honestly should have been an immediate red flag. I ordered the Crab Zanmai Combination Plate. From what I could tell, it included a baked crab hand roll, 2 pieces of baked crab sushi, an 8-piece California roll, a soft shell crab roll, and 1 piece of fried soft shell crab. I'm kind of guessing on the exact contents because I couldn't find an actual description on either the menu or the restaurant's website. The soft shell crab was easily the best part of the combo, although that's admittedly a pretty low bar. The hand roll and baked crab pieces were passable. The California roll was more akin to something you'd find in a Ralph's grocery store sushi section than at an actual sushi restaurant. I also had the unfortunate experience of trying the salmon skin roll. The salmon skin may as well have been jerky. It didn't have that light crispness, but was extremely tough and not enjoyable at all. Definitely would pass on that. For basically $30 for this combo, I honestly think you're better off going to an actual sushi restaurant like Aikan. SushiStop is probably fine if you just want quick, cheap sushi, but if you're looking for a meal you'll genuinely enjoy, I'd probably recommend going elsewhere. read more

Ordered a Yokosuka platter for Superbowl Sunday. Nigiri was decent but the rolls were below average sushi. The crunchy roll particularly tasted stale and old. The rest of the rolls were mid at best. Service was very quick and they have seating both indoors and outdoors, which was nice. The prices are also really cheap, but unfortunately it definitely shows in the quality of the food. We ordered the Crunchy California Roll, Salmon Skin Hand Roll, Salmon Truffle Hand Roll, and Crunchy Rice. The only decent dishes were the Crunchy California Roll and the Crunchy Rice, but even those tasted similar to something you'd grab from a local supermarket to-go section. The Salmon Skin Hand Roll was honestly inedible because the skin was way too tough and hard to bite or chew through. The Salmon Truffle Hand Roll also tasted like it had just come out of the freezer. I have been meaning to write this review for some time. After no deliberation, I have easily decided on the maximum five star rating for Sushistop. In a nutshell, the food is always fresh, the staff is attentive and the prices are extremely reasonable. The manager here is spectacular. He always greets us with a smile and the kind of hospitality you would expect at a high-end restaurant. I would have loved to show you his photograph, but he is a humble person and declined. The other thing worth noting about Sushistop is their fun promotions. For example, during Dodger season home games beer and sake are one dollar. They also have a promotion to roll the dice in order to get a discount on beer. All of this adds to the atmosphere which is welcoming and makes me want to return frequently. The location is fantastic because it is located exactly opposite the AMC theater. We love to make a night of it with a movie followed by dinner afterwards. There is outdoor seating, weather permitting , it makes for a very pleasant evening. Lastly, they do have a loyalty program that offers discounts after certain thresholds are met. I wholeheartedly recommend Sushistop in Burbank. read more

So close to the AMC and Burbank mall, it was just there and had passed it so many times before until today. Price honestly not too bad for the quality and quantity of food given. I love hollie our server. They just added $10 Ramen and also $10 poke bowls and if you know, you know those are generally really, really expensive everywhere else. What a great deal, first and foremost! The lunch special is outrageously generous, especially with today's economy. I had to re-read their signs a few times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. What is even better is that the food met my expectations and more! They didn't skimp out on quality or portions. I got curry katsu udon and their curry was such a comforting flavor and the katsu was well crisp. My siblings also enjoyed their sushi, my sister has become a regular since. The second time I went with my friend was just as good. They have a fun game where you can roll the dice to see how much your beer will be. If you roll odds, it's regular price, but if you roll evens, you get it half price! Service was good, very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is nice and lowkey. Food came out fast. Server was attentive, but unfortunately, that alone will not cut it for me to return. The price to portion ratio for the lunch special rice plates is pretty good at only $9.99, however, it immensely lacked in quality. The rice was very hard and dry, like days old rice imo. The chicken had more of a boiled texture to it. There were moldy a few not so fresh lettuce in the salad, which I forgot to take photos of. The rainbow roll was very small. As other mentioned, the size of the rolls are smaller than usual. Someone said you get to try more rolls this way - I appreciate them putting a positive spin on getting a thin serving. SushiStop is the stop for me! Cool easy unique quality constant flow Japanese Sushi Bar w/ flare and the service to match. I popped in greeted by both hostesses/servers in a double feature night "A Not So Quiet MaXXXine Place" and was glad I did. SushiStop is directly across from the Burbank AMC 16 and one of the first businesses to your right when you exit the parking structure for this outdoor plaza/mall area in Downtown Burbank. You can enjoy your dining experience outside or in, including at the bar which is rarely full. Expect all the classic offering from "basic" rolls like Avocado, Veggie, Avocado/Cucumber to premium and crunch/tempura style. I was pleasantly surprised at all the deals and specials they offered including a Vegan Zanmai platter that is on my list for next time. The hostess/server was kind enough to let me know it would take at least 20 minutes or more to prepare. I ended up with a tofu salad and a cucumber meets avocado roll that was definitely way more cucumber. There wasn't a small dish for soy sauce like you'll recieve or spot near by, but they do have napkins and chopsticks pre-set for you inside. I got creative and not expecting the soy sauce to flow out like a river covered a lot of my roll with it. I enjoyed the food and the wasabi was super powerful! The ginger was solid too, just a little clumpy (not broken apart - huge pieces). Chefs are really friendly, as was my dining experience at this sushi bar of convenience. SushiStop - Burbank does serve beer, wine and sake #HelloDrinkMenu as well as some unique dessert. The other 3 were ready to eat more than enough sushi to compensate for the taking of one seat... and of course we would tip to compensate this minor inconvenience. After seating, the waiter said no after checking with management... I find it awful the company and manager can't accommodate when I came prepared to order, eat and tip for 4. Avoid. I think the economical aspect of fast casual sushi is what Sushi Stop started put to be but what can you do? Not very busy but it is a Tuesday at 2 pm. They have a weekday happy hour with beer, sake and wine $1...who can top that? They do lots of takeout and I think that is a priority. This place us surrounded by a lot of other places for sushi. During the week this stretch of downtown is pretty slow today but I'm sure it picks up later with AMC across they way. My sushi came beautifully presented. Was in the area Saturday for a movie screening and we needed to have a quick lunch so we decided to go to this spot. Came here after 1pm and it wasn't busy. Noticed that the price for sushi was cheaper than most places I've been. Place was clean and relaxed atmosphere. We ordered salmon truffle sauce sashimi, salmon avocado rolls, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, dragon roll. My son had the salmon bento teriyaki as well. The only thing I'll say is that my son typically gets salmon in other places and the cut is usually fillet, the one he got was collar so less meat. There's no miso in their bento or any sushi just a side of salad - lots of it so we shared it. Specialty cut rolls were less than $10 but it's only 5 pcs. The regular cut rolls came out to be 8pcs each. Service during our visit was fast - it wasn't busy only 3 tables inside were occupied and 1 outside when we dined in. If you happen to be in the area and the place is not busy might be worth the try. read more
