Kabuki is a contemporary dining destination located in the heart of Downtown Burbank. Managed by the Kaizen Dining Group, it is part of a regional chain known for its "sushi for all mankind" philosophy, aiming to make Japanese cuisine accessible and comfortable for a broad audience. The restaurant occupies the site of the former Crocodile Cafe, which was featured in the 1995 film Clueless. The location and brand have received multiple "Best Of" awards, particularly from Pasadena Weekly and Restaurant Hospitality Magazine. The restaurant has a casual yet trendy vibe with a modern Japanese aesthetic, moving away from traditional, minimalist decor. It offers both indoor and outdoor patio seating, which is pet-friendly and equipped with heaters for cooler evenings. The staff is friendly, attentive, and fast, accommodating special requests and birthday celebrations with complementary desserts and singing. The restaurant offers happy hours daily including weekends, with deals on sushi rolls and beers. Lunch specials are also available daily. LED by Culinary Director Rogelio Aglibot (known as "The Food Buddha"), the menu features fresh sushi, sashimi, ramen, and bento boxes, along with dedicated vegetarian and gluten-free options. Although it may not be top-notch connoisseur level sushi but it's excellent and consistent for its price point. Popular items include Kabuki Roll, Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice and various teriyaki dishes. Their spicy tuna is very different from other Japanese restaurants but tastes savory and delicious. Also their California Roll is light and refreshing, it does not taste heavy with mayo. Parking is convenient, with several free public garages and street parking located nearby.

Came here for Happy Hour and a Rainbow Roll. Service is okay but need to pay more attention to detail we had to ask and wait for a soy sauce cup for our roll. The ambiance is pleasant and noise level is high. I enjoyed the sake and the Rainbow Roll was okay but the presentation needs some work. Our tool didn't look that appealing in my humble opinion. Even the avocado didn't look like it was sliced nicely. I will try again some other time. Maybe it will be a bit better.

Kabuki in Burbank is a decent spot, but the experience was a bit mixed for me. Parking was a little annoying, though that's pretty much to be expected in Burbank, so not a huge surprise. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and unfortunately it was a little bland and chewy. It wasn't terrible, but definitely not something I'd order again. Overall, it's okay if you're in the area, but next time I'd probably try something different off the menu.

Just arrived back from our trip to Colorado and it's late, but we're hungry, decided to come and enjoy a light seafood dinner. Customer service was great. The salad and the appetizer were perfect and hit the spot! Definitely will add this restaurant to our favorites list. Looking forward to coming back!

It was my first time trying this place , as a first timer it was very fresh sushi however , it was lacking flavor , something was missing in each roll in all honestly, if you're okay with simple flavors I totally recommend it , but if you're more flavorful type this isn't the place for you . Overall the service was great, the place was very clean and welcoming . 8/10

I was disappointed by my order of sukiyaki for birthday dinner. The broth was under seasoned, I had to ask the waitress for additional mirin (Japanese seasoned rice wine) to make it more palatable. In addition the mushrooms were the cheap button mushrooms instead of shiitake mushrooms. They supplied one shiitake on the side. Shiitake mushrooms are more flavorful and are traditionally used in this dish. The salmon skin hand roll was served open faced, not cone shaped, and seemed to be missing veggies. My wife said her yakisoba was under seasoned. Nice birthday ice cream served at conclusion of the dinner. The service was good, so no complaints there. The restaurant was clean except for the restroom.

Way to go at the staff at Kabuki! There was an issue with using my birthday reward so the sever spoke with the manager and they were able to get the issue corrected. I ordered a couple of items on the happy hour menu and everything was delicious. The server also offered a birthday dessert which was a very kind of him to do which I was not expecting. The staff was attentive and went above and beyond. Overall, I had an exceptional experience and definitely recommend Kabuki!

The spicy tuna looks like something Garfield the cat would eat.. Garfield probably wouldn't even eat it because the flavor sucked... nice staff but yall could do the food way better. Just go somewhere else to eat in the area

Stopped into this place once again it it never disappoints! They have a great late night happy hour that we got to take advantage of. We got a variety of options from the happy hour menu and it was all delicious and fresh. My new favorite items are the spicy tuna hand rolls. They are packed with delicious spicy tuna. Service is always great too. Please check this place out if you're in the area.

I've never understood why the ratings are so poor here, great customer service, mellow ambiance, and your food is prepared quite quickly.

I've frequented Kabuki over the years whenever I've roamed around Burbank (which is quite often). I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet, but better late than never! Located at the corner of N San Fernando Blvd & E Orange Grove Ave, there's an abundance of parking garages and street parking nearby so don't even sweat it. It gets busy at nights and on the weekends, so if you're wanting to go during non-peak hours, try weekday afternoons. All the sushi we've tried has been good as has the regular dishes. Our go-to is either the California Roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll, the Vegas Roll, the Dynamite Roll, or the Chicken Teriyaki. You honestly can't go wrong with any choice as there's something for every picky eater. There's quite the selection of drinks if you're looking to wet your beak. They have daily happy hours to get the most bang for your buck. Mon-Fri it's from 3PM-6PM, Sat-Sun it's from 2PM-5PM. For late night, Sun-Thurs is 8:30PM-close and Fri-Sat is 9PM-close. Corkage per bottle of sake/wine is $25. Daily lunch specials are from 11AM-4PM. If you're wandering around downtown Burbank, Kabuki is a good place to unwind and make some memories. The employees are all friendly, the restaurant itself is well-maintained and clean, and there's a patio section out back for when it's hot (or if you have pets).

I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. I got the spicy tuna roll- great portion and delicious, kimchi gyoza(delicious), and the kimchi roll (fresh and light). I also tried the edamame- good but not amazing. The service was excellent and quick. I would come back again anytime!!

Full disclosure: we have actually been coming to Oku-Niku for a couple of years now, but every…read moresingle time we leave, we are in such a food coma that I completely forget to post a review! It is long overdue because they nail the food, the drinks, the SERVICE, and the atmosphere completely. The food is top-tier. They have a fantastic sake selection and great beers on tap. What really pulls all of this together, is their staff. THE best service in all of Burbank! Tonight they were playing 90s house music (my absolute jam!), but kept it at the perfect evening vibe level so we could actually enjoy our conversation. We finished the night with the yuzu cheesecake, and it was aaaamazing - the perfect creamy, citrusy end to the meal. Massive shout out to Javi and Isa for ALWAYS giving us the best possible service every time we come in. They make you feel like family. Highly recommend!

AYCE Prices? My Wallet Said Absolutely Not…read more Not gonna lie -- I am not your typical "pay as you go" gal, and sadly my stomach can no longer survive all-you-can-eat the way it used to. Although this spot offers AYCE for $79.50 per person, the seven of us decided to go the smarter route and order à la carte instead. And honestly? We still ordered enough food to probably qualify for AYCE anyway. Totally forgot to snap a picture of the menu because our stomachs were already making decisions before our brains could. We ordered everything from: * sushi rolls * mushrooms appetizer * shishito peppers * seaweed salad * broccoli * soy garlic edamame * dumplings * fried rice bulgogi * chicken karrage * garlic shrimp * beef tongue * chicken breast * and of course the star of the night, the Wagyu ribeye beef which was about $45 a plate for roughly 7-8 slices? Most of the food honestly didn't even make it into photos because the table instantly attacked everything the moment it arrived. I don't know the total bill since it was my birthday dinner, but I'm pretty sure it cost a very pretty penny lol. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and I'd give the experience about an 8/10. The only downside was the service was a bit slow. We had the only reservation at 1 PM, yet it still took a few tries to flag someone down when we needed things, so service overall was just okay. Welcoming ambience with beautiful interior with plenty of tables. I'm assuming reservation would be more recommended on weekends? Still a fun birthday meal with lots of good food and full bellies. Happy eats!
