Came in here kind of by accident today. The boyfriend and I were on our way to a different restaurant for late lunch/early dinner when we happened to walk by Octopus. We thought, why not? We were sat immediately and decided to browse their happy hour menu. Buy one get one for $1 on beers and a nice selection of appetizers and rolls with reduced pricing. We ordered a lot - garlic edamame, agedashi chicken, their cucumber (sunomono) salad, a red dragon roll, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, and their yellowtail roll. Everything was delicious. The cucumber salad was so lovely and refreshing that we went ahead and ordered a second serving. The edamame was seasoned nicely, the chicken was juicy and fried perfectly, and all the rolls were awesome. You'd think after all that food we'd be all done... but no. Ordered one more salmon and red dragon roll. So, two beers, 6 rolls, 4 appetizers and the bill still came up under $100. Needless to say, we'll be back. Service was friendly. I have been coming here and Kabuki ever since they opened and spent $Thousands of Dollars, all the Managers and Even the Owners knew and liked me UNTIL NOW. They have a New manager and she is HORRIBLE! I went to use the restroom after a little sushi and sake, close to finishing up and when I came out my place was cleaned up and they cleared away everything, I thought with a little sake buzz maybe I paid and left. Any experience manager and Good Restaurant would check to see if you paid before removing everything??? They removed food that wasn't eaten and a whole Beer that wasn't touched? When I went back a few days later a server and manager who was real rude said I left without paying., I couldn't remember and said no I always pay? I eat, paid and left and when I got home I looked at my Credit Card Statement and felt bad because I didn't pay? The service was great, the waiter was very attentive. They have a reverse happy hour from 8pm-10pm which was nice, a lot of good options. The food itself, wow. The sushi was so fresh! The rolls are on the smaller side but you're truly paying for quality vs quantity. The place is small but there is plenty of room between tables. Also don't stress the parking! I was disappointed that the $23.95 lunch menu was so limited. No nigiri offered on it at all which I was surprised about because the other AYCE sushi spot I normally go to in Alhambra does offer nigiri sushi for their $23 lunch menu. I ended up feeling pretty full off of rice and imitation crab due to the rolls being the only sushi available on the lunch menu. The rolls were delicious though. First timer! Overall experience: 10/10. Loved it! Saturday lunch ($39.99 for AYCE). No wait. Very spacious and clean restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. We never had to call them over to order more food, refill our water, or take away used plates. Really impressed by how quickly the food came out each round too. You can never go wrong coming to Octopus sushi when you're in the Burbank area. The prices are very reasonable especially during happy hour. This is my go to place when I'm craving some sushi and their broiled Mussels. I always park at the public parking in the police station down the street. Last night, my sisters decide to join us so we were a bigger party than usual and the restaurant were busy for mother's day weekend. We got seated quick but the service was slow at time. We got the spicy tuna rolls, California rolls, yellowtail rolls, caterpillar rolls, spicy garlic edamame and boiled mussels. My sister's also ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box and chicken teriyaki bento box. The salmon on the bento box wasn't as warm so we think it just sat in the kitchen but the chicken teriyaki bento box was hot. If you come for the sushi only then it should be a quick service but if you get the bento box then you might have to wait. Our sushi came out quick and was delicious. The bento boxes comes with salad and miso soup which came out quick too. But the bento box took forever and I couldn't find out waitress so I had to ask another waitress for refill. I also asked about the bento box and they told me that they are backed up in the kitchen. The bento box didn't come out until we already finish all the sushi and other dishes. We were warmly greeted and immediately sat down at a nice booth. I ordered the bento box with the spicy chicken and spicy tuna roll. There was an abundance of food and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and not overly spicy. It had mushrooms and vegetables with it. For spicy tuna roll was fantastic and not overly spicy but perfect. I especially recommend the salmon and yellowtail. The restaurant itself is very modern and neat with a relaxed atmosphere. Our servers Jennifer Y. and Shin were extremely nice and very attentive to our requests. They went out of their way to provide us with excellent service. Helena, the manager, checked in on our food and was a pleasure to talk to. Overall an amazing experience, food, and staff! I highly recommend checking this place out! Last Friday, my cousins and I had dinner at Octopus. We found parking on the street and in the nearby public parking lot easily, and we arrived at the restaurant at around 6:45pm. We were seated promptly, but it took a while for the staff to take our orders. At this hour, it looked like the tables were filling-up fast. The staff were friendly and checked-in with our table frequently throughout our meal. We ordered a variety of items, and my faves were the Cheese Pork Cutlet and Octopus Chef's Special Plate. The Cheese Pork Cutlet was crispy and complemented well with the sweet & salty sauce. However, the pork itself was kind of thin, but there was a good ratio of pork to cheese. The Special Plate came with a miso soup and salad, and the plate itself was colorful and full of fresh fish. I liked the roe bowl the most, which included rice, tobiko, smelt egg, and uni. The plate also had a spicy tuna handroll, which had too much tuna and could've used more rice, in my opinion. Overall, my family and I enjoyed our meal, and I wouldn't mind coming back to Octopus, if I was craving a casual and heavier sushi dinner. read more

This is my go to place when I feel like having sushi. The service here is always great and the fish is fresh. The inside isn't huge by any means so if you go during happy hour, you may experience a wait since they don't take reservations. I do wish they would update the board up front which often states they have snapper when they don't. I always get excited only to be told they don't have it. Still, the other options are delicious and I always leave nice and full. A huge plus is the free parking located in the structure right down the street. read more

Come here for decent sushi that's served quick and doesn't hurt your wallet when it's HH. Do not expect to have a relaxing dinner or an attentive waiter. If you know what you're in for you'll get your money's worth. Came in Friday night right before HH started and had the choice to wait 15+ minutes or be seated immediately at the bar. The bar has enough space to be comfortable but I wouldn't sit there again. The sushi chefs are literally YELLING to the servers about orders etc and servers are constantly picking up plates that were placed right in front of us. I wish they had a different spot for servers to grab orders but you get what you pay for! Sushi was good and came out fast but we waited for our drinks and need to ask someone to get them for us. The server that initially talked to us did not come back for our entire meal but it's a busy place. This place has a lot of downsides but the price point, quantity, and quality cannot be beat so I would come back! read more

If anyone finds a better happy hour than this, let me know! With a large menu of izakaya, salads, classic rolls and premium rolls, Octopus offers some of the best happy hour options that I've seen. The cost savings are pretty good as well, with the izakaya and specialty rolls being discounted by about $2-$3. (Even if you don't attend during happy hour, I consider the pricing to be reasonable in the first place.) We arrived around 5:00P and the hostess seated us promptly. Throughout our dinner, three different employees tended to us; all of them were friendly and we were checked on multiple times. With happy hour ending at 6:00P, I also appreciated how they did a "last call" a few minutes before just in case we wanted to place a final order. Between the four of us, we got five rolls, two salads and one izakaya item, which was plenty of food. + HOUSE ROLL ($13.50 HH): Shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, spicy krabmeat and ebi. You can't go wrong with this roll which is a good combination of various textures. It came topped with some spicy mayo as well which actually added a noticeable kick! + MEXICAN ROLL ($9.95 HH): Spicy krabmeat, avocado, cucumber, fried jalapeños, & jalapeño crunch flakes. The fried jalapeños were actually served on the side, so you could eat them separately or with the roll for an extra crunch. + SNOW ROLL ($10.95 HH): Avocado, cream cheese, krabmeat, baked tilapia. This was my least favorite since the rice just did not stick together and each piece fell apart as we picked it up. It might have been due to the baked tilapia on top which warmed up the rice, making it less sturdy. + WASHINGTON ROLL ($11.95 HH): Spicy tuna, asparagus, salmon and ebi. I enjoyed that the ingredients in this roll spoke for themselves as opposed to being fried or overwhelmed with sauce. It was nice and clean. + RED DRAGON ($11.95 HH): Spicy tuna, tuna, cucumber and avocado. Considering how much I love tuna, this was my favorite roll. Between the medium heat, crunch of the cucumber and smooth avocado, this was simply perfect in my opinion. + SHRIMP W/ JALAPEÑO AVOCADO SAUCE ($8.75 HH): Impeccable! Five plump shrimp were lightly battered and piping hot right out of the fryer. Each one was served in a small scoop of the zesty and fresh sauce which we couldn't get enough of. + CUCUMBER SALAD ($4.50 HH): Shaved slices of cucumber marinated in rice vinegar. This was light, refreshing and definitely sharable. I expected a small bowl of cucumber, but it ended up being such a huge serving! If I lived in the area, I'd be here all the time. I eat here regularly before I see a movie. Tonight, the parking was crazy so I missed my movie. I decided let me just get a nice meal. I waked in and half the dining area was empty. I used to love this place--my girlfriend and I would come here all the time, and it was easily our favorite sushi spot. We were excited to come back while in town and noticed they now offer all-you-can-eat, which caught us off guard. From experience, AYCE sushi can sometimes mean a drop in quality, so we stuck to our usual favorites from the regular menu. Unfortunately, the quality has gone downhill across the board. The fish tasted noticeably lower grade, to the point where finishing the plate felt like a chore. The uni, in particular, was really disappointing--borderline inedible. This is the best AYCE sushi I've found! Everything they have here is just so good. The Carpaccios blew me away. The fish cuts are thiiiiick and they go the extra mile by adding a lot of garnish to enhance the flavor. The handrolls are unreal. They give you such thick pieces of fish and really pack in the ingredients. There's a lot more on the menu including Izakaya but the fish items are my absolute fav. I can't wait to go back here... I also liked that for the nigiri, it was 1 piece per order, so you can really customize your own board and try a bite of everything. Some of my favorite izakaya dishes included the baked mussels, tempura. salmon collar, and cheese pork cutlet. Nothing tasted haphazardly put together or super oily (which can be the case sometimes in ayce). For the tempura, it was only one piece of each type of item- something to keep in mind when you're ordering. SERVICE Service was superb! My tea/water was always topped off. You get three rounds, and while the cooked food menu is impressively large, the sushi roll selection is surprisingly limited. The carpaccio was a highlight--the fish slices were thick and generous--but the taste across the board was pretty average. One of the biggest head-scratchers? If you opt for AYCE, you're not allowed to order anything from the happy hour menu--not even drinks. That just doesn't make sense and feels like a missed opportunity. The value just isn't there, especially with so many better sushi options nearby. Add in the nightmare parking situation, and we probably won't be returning. Dined here for the all you can eat lunch because aikan had plumbing issues. The lunch menu had a pretty good assortment considering the $33.95 price. They had carpaccios, sushi rolls, and sushi by the piece, etc. Overall, the food was okay. Nothing too special. I give this place a 2/5 stars because of the service. We came in with only a few tables occupied so they weren't crazy busy. We got sat and ordered our first round and everyrhing was going smoothly. After we were done with our first round, we stacked our plates and were ready for the next. Several minutes go by and not one of the 2 servers are coming to check on us. I had to raise my hand multiple times to try and catch their attention but still no one is batting an eye. After failed attempts, finally i was able to catch the attention of the server cause he was dropping off a plate next to our table. He took our paper and I had to tell him to also grab the plates that are already stacked and empty. He only took 1 stack out of the 4 and left. Anyway, i dont think i'll be coming back to this place.
