    Salmon roll
    Andrea E.

Came in here kind of by accident today. The boyfriend and I were on our way to a different restaurant for late lunch/early dinner when we happened to walk by Octopus. We thought, why not? We were sat immediately and decided to browse their happy hour menu. Buy one get one for $1 on beers and a nice selection of appetizers and rolls with reduced pricing. We ordered a lot - garlic edamame, agedashi chicken, their cucumber (sunomono) salad, a red dragon roll, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, and their yellowtail roll. Everything was delicious. The cucumber salad was so lovely and refreshing that we went ahead and ordered a second serving. The edamame was seasoned nicely, the chicken was juicy and fried perfectly, and all the rolls were awesome. You'd think after all that food we'd be all done... but no. Ordered one more salmon and red dragon roll. So, two beers, 6 rolls, 4 appetizers and the bill still came up under $100. Needless to say, we'll be back. Service was friendly. The bathrooms were clean. Great experience.

2/14/26 Valentine's Day Tried Door Dash for the first time. Wife and I celebrated Valentine's at Niku X last Thursday. Today we just stayed in from all the crazy people/ drivers on the road. My wife didn't get what she requested and paid for; no garlic ponzu or any kind, only 3 out of 6 monk fish liver and no extra cream cheese in the Philly roll. Never again for delivery (no problem with door dash) it's Octopus. FYI, CHECK YOUR ORDER IF PICKING UP

Fast service and good food at decent prices. We were sat promptly and everything came out promptly. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Choice of rolls is one of the best options on the menu. Lots of appetizers and separate options for those that don't want to have sushi per se but want to enjoy a meal out.

I was disappointed that the $23.95 lunch menu was so limited. No nigiri offered on it at all which I was surprised about because the other AYCE sushi spot I normally go to in Alhambra does offer nigiri sushi for their $23 lunch menu. I ended up feeling pretty full off of rice and imitation crab due to the rolls being the only sushi available on the lunch menu. The rolls were delicious though. Worth checking out but not among my favorites.

You can never go wrong coming to Octopus sushi when you're in the Burbank area. The prices are very reasonable especially during happy hour. This is my go to place when I'm craving some sushi and their broiled Mussels. I always park at the public parking in the police station down the street. Last night, my sisters decide to join us so we were a bigger party than usual and the restaurant were busy for mother's day weekend. We got seated quick but the service was slow at time. We got the spicy tuna rolls, California rolls, yellowtail rolls, caterpillar rolls, spicy garlic edamame and boiled mussels. My sister's also ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box and chicken teriyaki bento box. The salmon on the bento box wasn't as warm so we think it just sat in the kitchen but the chicken teriyaki bento box was hot. If you come for the sushi only then it should be a quick service but if you get the bento box then you might have to wait. Our sushi came out quick and was delicious. The bento boxes comes with salad and miso soup which came out quick too. But the bento box took forever and I couldn't find out waitress so I had to ask another waitress for refill. I also asked about the bento box and they told me that they are backed up in the kitchen. The bento box didn't come out until we already finish all the sushi and other dishes. They also fix their TV subscription so you can watch some sports game now too.

Came here today for the all you can eat lunch menu and it was delicious, especially the individual sushi! Very high quality fresh food at a good price. I especially recommend the salmon and yellowtail. The restaurant itself is very modern and neat with a relaxed atmosphere. Our servers Jennifer Y. and Shin were extremely nice and very attentive to our requests. They went out of their way to provide us with excellent service. Helena, the manager, checked in on our food and was a pleasure to talk to. Overall an amazing experience, food, and staff! I highly recommend checking this place out! I also want to highlight how professional the staff was in dealing with two very rude, aggressive customers. When we came in the two were yelling profane words and throwing their hands in the faces of the servers and manger. Helena, Jennifer Y., and Shin calmly and professionally de-escalated the situation and made sure the staff and other customers were safe. Big kudos to the three!

The AYCE is fantastic, very tasty. $39.99 for lunch. The food is better than Aikan. Free parking is just north. Highly recommend, prompt and efficient service. Will definitely return...

Came for happy for the first time during the week. I can never make it to happy hour from opening to 3 pm so today was a treat. I ordered many food today and it was on point. Lots of fish and the rice was just about right. I did eat more hand rolls also just to top it off. For 23.95, it was the right price for my wallet. The servers were very friendly and they work really hard to serve their customers. Please come here to happy hour if you can!

    Cheese Pork Cutlet

Last Friday, my cousins and I had dinner at Octopus. We found parking on the street and in the nearby public parking lot easily, and we arrived at the restaurant at around 6:45pm. We were seated promptly, but it took a while for the staff to take our orders. At this hour, it looked like the tables were filling-up fast. The staff were friendly and checked-in with our table frequently throughout our meal. We ordered a variety of items, and my faves were the Cheese Pork Cutlet and Octopus Chef's Special Plate. The Cheese Pork Cutlet was crispy and complemented well with the sweet & salty sauce. However, the pork itself was kind of thin, but there was a good ratio of pork to cheese. The Special Plate came with a miso soup and salad, and the plate itself was colorful and full of fresh fish. I liked the roe bowl the most, which included rice, tobiko, smelt egg, and uni. The plate also had a spicy tuna handroll, which had too much tuna and could've used more rice, in my opinion. Overall, my family and I enjoyed our meal, and I wouldn't mind coming back to Octopus, if I was craving a casual and heavier sushi dinner.

Our go-to place to have sushi!! I'll keep it simple: - Great food - Great service - Cool atmosphere - Quick but not rushed It's totally a consistent and solid place that hasn't let us down. If you're in the area , def try it out.

It is long overdue because they nail the food, the drinks, the SERVICE, and the atmosphere completely. The food is top-tier. They have a fantastic sake selection and great beers on tap. What really pulls all of this together, is their staff. THE best service in all of Burbank! Tonight they were playing 90s house music (my absolute jam!), but kept it at the perfect evening vibe level so we could actually enjoy our conversation. We finished the night with the yuzu cheesecake, and it was aaaamazing - the perfect creamy, citrusy end to the meal. Massive shout out to Javi and Isa for ALWAYS giving us the best possible service every time we come in. They make you feel like family. Highly recommend!

AYCE Prices? My Wallet Said Absolutely Not…read more Not gonna lie -- I am not your typical "pay as you go" gal, and sadly my stomach can no longer survive all-you-can-eat the way it used to. Although this spot offers AYCE for $79.50 per person, the seven of us decided to go the smarter route and order à la carte instead. And honestly? We still ordered enough food to probably qualify for AYCE anyway. Totally forgot to snap a picture of the menu because our stomachs were already making decisions before our brains could. We ordered everything from: * sushi rolls * mushrooms appetizer * shishito peppers * seaweed salad * broccoli * soy garlic edamame * dumplings * fried rice bulgogi * chicken karrage * garlic shrimp * beef tongue * chicken breast * and of course the star of the night, the Wagyu ribeye beef which was about $45 a plate for roughly 7-8 slices? Most of the food honestly didn't even make it into photos because the table instantly attacked everything the moment it arrived. I don't know the total bill since it was my birthday dinner, but I'm pretty sure it cost a very pretty penny lol. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and I'd give the experience about an 8/10. The only downside was the service was a bit slow. We had the only reservation at 1 PM, yet it still took a few tries to flag someone down when we needed things, so service overall was just okay. Welcoming ambience with beautiful interior with plenty of tables. I'm assuming reservation would be more recommended on weekends? Still a fun birthday meal with lots of good food and full bellies. Happy eats!

DineLA Week comes around only twice a year. Once in the winter (January/February) and once in the…read moresummer (July/August). If nothing else, I always make an effort to squeeze in at least one new restaurant in their lineup. For one, I get to sample what each restaurant considers to be their most popular menu items or exclusive dishes. Also, it's often a tasting menu that offers a little bit more. More like a foodie's bonus prize, just for participating. Yakumi looked good this time around. Probably because I'd eat sushi any day/every day, if I could. And I was able to find a quick prix fixe style sushi solution without roshambeau'ing with myself for hours, deciding on what to eat. YAKUMI BOX + THE DineLA MENU On the regular menu, the Yakima Box is $29 and no drink's included. During DineLA week, this filling lunch choice was just $25 and came with a shōchū cocktail as a refreshing bonus. It included: + Sunomono or seaweed salad + 1 piece of tuna sushi + 2 pieces each of yellowtail, salmon, and albacore topped with fried shallots (Note: It's not the fresh green scallions with ponzu sauce recipe) + A choice of 2 classic rolls like 2-piece baked crab roll, or 4-pieces of yellowtail jalapeño, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, avocado, and California roll (Note: The crab roll was buttery and tasty; the spicy tuna was standard) + My bonus drink: Mango Lychee Shochu The fish was fresh, the mango lychee cocktail was refreshing. Both were on the lighter side and pleasant for a lunchtime meal. INDOOR SEATING + OUTDOOR PATIO Sit inside or outside? To settle the debate, I did both while waiting for my lunch date to arrive. The warm, sunny patio was lovely, but there are only a few spots in the shade during certain times of the day, even with the awning drawn. Indoors, it's quaint and mirrors the koi fish artwork that graces the corner of the restaurant's exterior. It adds an authentic seafood-centric, Japanese charm to the ambiance. Service was prompt, although it wasn't a very busy time. Just across the street at Alfred Coffee, however, the second wave of a caffeine rush hour--needing their daily fix--rolled by as we paid. For me, on the other hand, the light shōchū buzz and pleasant stroll to my car was a foodie's bonus I'd come back for again.

High hopes for Yakumi. However, after a lunch visit, I was left disappointed…read more How sushi rice is served is one of the most important foundations of Japanese sushi culture. The rice served during a recent visit here was cold. Cold to the touch. I won't speculate as to why it happened and I should have mentioned something but chose not to as the fish was fine. Service was excellent. The dining area, clean and modern. I can't comment on the patio area as I didn't check it out. I liked everything about Yakumi however, I can't get past the cold rice. I'm not a fan of supermarket sushi as it's different. If you are, then you may like Yakumi. Or, don't be quiet like me and speak up. Maybe I just got cold rice because I was there pretty much right at opening. Letting it sit for a little while helped but my first impression was already set.
