I stumbled into Fujiya and was pleasantly surprised that they were pretty busy at dinnertime. I ended up sitting down and giving them a shot - I am glad I did. The creamy salmon nigiri was absolutely delicious - I highly recommend giving that a shot if you don't mind raw fish with a little sauce and sear. All in all, I would order this again. The chicken teriyaki appetizer was decent. It helped me hit the protein quota for the day, but I wasn't blown away by the sauce or quality. The yaki udon with beef was quite good. A good portion for two to share, but the sauce was a bit heavy and overwhelming. The edamame was good. Typical steamed edamame, no complaints. Service was polite and attentive. Dishes came out quickly enough, The interior is colorful and appealing. Booths are comfortable. Street parking is available outside. Not sure that I will be back here anytime soon, but I'd suggest it to anyone who wants recommendations for a Japanese place with saucey rolls, a variety of dishes, and some familiarity with sashimi and sushi. read more

Terrible service! A little background: We've discovered this place in 2020 and absolutely love it. It's our go-to sushi place until recently. We went to have dinner last week. My child ordered a salmon teriyaki Bentonville box. The rest of the table got their food except for her. I waited for a little bit and asked for her food The waitress, Angie, said she forgot to put in her order and just added it. We waited. 15 mins go by, nothing. So I asked is they could give her at least her soup and rice. She ate that and 10 mins go by. Meanwhile, Angie had walked by our table a few times without giving us an update. We asked another waiter for our food and she comes back and says "it's not ready yet." We wait for another 10 mins. At this point, we had all finished eating and after tracking down Angie, I asked to just have her food boxed up. She went to check on it (again) and she said it "was almost ready." I told her to just box it up. 5 mins later, she instead brought it out on a restaurant plate. I told her again that my child is not going to eat it and to put it in a box. She finally did and disappeared. I again had to track her down for the check. I was thinking she would compensate us for the long wait. When we received the check, she had charged the full price for the meal. I couldn't find Angie and had told another server what happened and how wrong had waited a really long time for my child's meal and he apologized and said he would "take care of it." He came back and said he was going to discount it by 50%. I asked for a full refund since she also didn't eat the meal. He finally came back and it was taken off the bill. This is the first time I have received such poor service from this restaurant. When the previous manager, Ray was working, he would always come by the table to say Hi and ask how everything was going. I'm not sure whose in charge now, but the service has gone down hill. I am not sure if I'll return after this bad experience! read more

A very cool sushi place we had seen in downtown Burbank numerous times, and just never tried. So after finding we'd missed the lunch special at another place, we decided to go to Fujiya. They have a lot of the pretty standard menu items, and we were too late to take advantage of some pretty attractive lunch menu options, but we both settled on the Premium Sushi Combination, which includes salad, miso soup, five nigiri (the most popular kinds; salmon, tuna, unagi, etc.), and any one of their signature rolls, for just $25. Check out the pics. Pretty darned good value for the money, even at dinner prices. It would take a few more visits to really get to know the menu, but the options looked pretty standard, with a few gems we just haven't discovered yet. The quality of the food was very good. The fish was all very fresh and flavorful. The miso was standard, and the salad was a basic iceberg with some kind of vinaigrette. If I had a suggestion for the owners it would be to use a fresh spring mix for the salads instead of iceberg, and get away from the rehydrated wasabi powder. It just doesn't pack the punch of a fresh wasabi paste. Our servers were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the food was delivered quickly and with a very nice presentation. The seating was also very comfortable, with plenty of big screens around showing a variety of programs. One more tip for the management here, the big pink cherry blossom tree blocks the view of the biggest screen to over half the restaurant; maybe another location would be better for the tree. Overall, a great place to go in Burbank for sushi. There's free parking right down the street, and the whole San Fernando Blvd. shopping area within just a couple of minutes' walk. read more

I would recommend these 2 Sake White Peach drinks!!! The margarita version is so yummy, and the sake itself is smooth and easy to drink. The chicken teriyaki itself is so good, and you can see in the pictures that it's full of flavor. This miso is my favorite out of every place I've tried. The salad and the teriyaki dinner plate is filling, you get your monies worth! The waiters are sweet and helped us as soon as we sat down but the food did take a while to come out but the potions are big so as long you don't mind waiting a bit, this place is great and the aesthetic of the place is nice. I have been coming to Fujiya for about 15 years. It has become my family's regular go-to sushi spot. We LOVE it here. We've had the occasional mediocre experience - it happens in the restaurant business - but they are consistently really good. The service is usually good, if not very good, but most importantly, the fish has always been GREAT. Fresh and delicious. We order a lot of sashimi, and we are sushi snobs, and this place has never disappointed! The decor is fun, unique and colorful. The layout of the tables is set up to afford you a good amount of privacy. I've never felt pulled into the conversation next to me, or felt that our convo was creeping into others. That's something that can't be said for most sushi spots, where you often sit uncomfortably close to the people next to you. The location is great, smack in the middle of downtown Burbank, which makes the perfect location for an after dinner stroll. All-in-all, it's about as perfect of a sushi spot that one could want! read more

This is one of the most underrated sushi restaurants in L.A. It is me and my brother's favorite sushi spot for lunch. We love the dark and trendy but warm ambiance and the privacy of the booth seating. We also love how fresh and tasty the sushi is. The pricing here is also very good! It's not expensive at all compared to other options in Burbank. I usually order their lunch special sushi roll and it comes with a salad and miso soup. The meal is light and hearty. This is a slightly better than average, rather Americanized sushi joint in downtown Burbank. It's ok if you want basic items of acceptable quality, or one of many fancy rolls. My wife liked her basic nigiri and tuna roll combo, but the Albacore Delight roll was a bit bland and the Chriashi bowl was a bit too crowded (but had plenty of fish and tasted good, and even looked good). Fujiya is probably the BEST sushi restaurant in Burbank. Honestly, you should give Fujiya a try simply because I cannot say anything bad about the place. . . although the dining area does tend to get pretty loud with the disco/dance music blaring and the patrons trying to make dinner conversations. The wait staff are quite personable and not pushy with any particular item on the menu -- like some waiters/waitresses whom we've encountered in other L.A. sushi establishments. Our order gets taken and, once it arrives, Fujiya's staff will leave you alone -- which is just the way we like it. Regarding Fujiya's take-out. . . they're reasonably swift.
